Experiencia fantástica: I was very impressed with the compassion and excellent care I received from the staff. Dr. Fred Sweet was my surgeon and came highly recommended to me. My surgery was a success and I was free from the pain caused from a herniated disc as soon as I woke after surgery. After two months of pain and spasms and seeing other doctors I felt this was a miracle to finally have relief and to have had such a skilled and caring surgeon.

I haven't been able to ride my bike for many years. I am happy happy to say I rode my bike today. It's only a 3 Wheeler, but I couldn't make that motion. I'm 70 years old plus I can't think of the doctor's name right now but when I do I will post it.

Experiencia fantástica: Rockford Spine Center is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone. I was experiencing pain and numbness in one of my arms and needed a couple of discs replaced in my neck. I had never had surgery before so I was really nervous. The staff prepared me every step of the way and best of all, I’m pain free! Dr. Roh was very thorough and you can tell he really wants to help his patients. This place runs like a well oiled machine and my experience all the way from the consultation to the end of my recovery was flawless. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Experiencia fantástica: After months of increasing leg pain and numbness, and no relief after physical therapy and chiropractic, my nurse practitioner suggested the doctors at Rockford Spine Center. I saw Dr. Roh and had a minimally invasive discectomy and fusion of L4-5. Immediately after surgery the pain and numbness were gone! Immediately! I was able to go home the same day, climb stairs and sleep in my own bed. Post op discomfort was just that, discomfort and nothing compared to what I had dealt with prior to surgery. I took the prescribed pain med for 24 hours and after easily managed with Tylenol. I am so happy I didn't wait longer! Dealing with pain that gradually gets worse, you don't realize how much it's bothering you until it's gone. I used to dread having to stand for more than 5 or 10 minutes or walking through a large store for groceries. Now I can walk or stand as long as I want with absolutely no issue. Just a few weeks after surgery my back and leg feel absolutely normal and I'm going about my day without planning around the pain. Dr Roh, Matt, Angie,Casey and everyone from the front desk, X-ray and MRI have been knowledgeable, caring and professional. I highly recommend them!!

Experiencia fantástica: I had been experiencing back and neck pain for over a year. Has seen another Dr who was unable to figure out my pain issues. I was told by my coworker (who's wife works at the spine center)and primary physician to book a consultation appointment at the spine center. They were able to pin point my problem within 3 visits. I had surgery and am very happy with the results. The staff and doctors were absolutely wonderful! Stephanie is so helpful and understanding!

Experiencia fantástica: I had been having back problems for almost a year. I had been going to the chiropractor and also had 6 weeks of physical therapy before my doctor finally ordered an MRI because my symptoms wouldn’t improve. The results showed I had a herniated disc, and I was referred to Dr. Sliva. Since I had already gone through physical therapy, he offered to give me a shot in my sciatic nerve, or since the problem had already been going on for almost a year, the other option was the surgery for the sciatic nerve decompression. I ended up choosing the nerve decompression, which was scheduled super fast! My lower back pain along with my sciatic nerve pain on leg, buttock, and numbness on my toes were gone since day one after the surgery! The recovery was super fast; after day 4, I could walk better, did not need more pain medicine, and I went back to office work one week after the surgery. I definitely recommend Dr. Sliva and his team for their knowledge, professionalism, and great service.

Experiencia fantástica: I have to had 4 lumbar fusion surgeries and a cervical fusion which began in 2014. My Dr and his staff are fantastic, caring and friendly, and are are always up to date on the newest procedures. It's been a little over 2 weeks and I'm up to walking 25 miles a week, before my surgery I was walking 50-55 miles a week, and in a Iot of pain but kept going,I will be there soon again at 50+ miles a week . Experiencia fantástica: Even if the result of my procedure with RSC was only relief from constant pain from a back issue that required surgery, it would have been the best decision I made all year. But that and my experience with Dr Michael Roh, PA Matthew Schwabero, nurse Casey, and their staff is now an invaluable memory that will stay with me for years. They invest in you as a person as much as a patient. They understand how constant pain colors everything you enjoy...sleeping, sitting down to dinner, the quality of the time you spend with family. You know how you need to constantly drive around the parking lot looking for the nearest space so you don't have to walk far from your car? And when at the store you lean on the shopping cart to help you get through the long aisles? They totally get that. I'm beyond grateful to all at RSC for now having all of those issues in my past and pain is no longer something I have to arrange my life around. "Compassion" and "Excellence" are more than just words on inspirational posters. The doctors and staff at RSC define them every day.

Experiencia fantástica: I have had back issues for more than a decade, I had one back surgery elsewhere 7 years ago, while it helped some at the time, I continued to have constant pain that affected every aspect of my life. Two years ago, I met with a surgeon (Not at Rockford Spine) and they refused to do surgery because there was too much scar tissue from the first surgery. I have been to several physical therapy places, and been on several different pain pills and nerve blockers with little to no relief. Being referred to Dr Sliva, and the staff at Rockford Spine was a very different experience all together! He looked at my MRI’s and had more confidence than I had seen with the previous surgeons. Surgery went great and I was able to go home the same day. I worked with the physical therapy department there and felt stronger and more confident than I have in years. Today I am 3 months after surgery and 100% back to normal life and for the first time in more than a decade have no lower back pain!

Experiencia fantástica: In the fall of 2021 I developed severe pain in the back of my neck that radiated across my shoulder and down my left arm to my hand. I went to see my pain specialist who ordered an MRI and referred me to Dr. Sliva. Dr. Sliva reviewed my medical information from my pain specialist. After reviewing the information I had my first appointment. From the moment I was contacted by his staff, I was met with compassion and caring. When Dr. Sliva explained that I needed surgery on my neck I was shocked and scared. He took the time to answer each and every question, so that I left his office feeling confident. The amount of information provided to me by his office made the preparation, day of surgery and the recovery fantastic. Dr. Sliva was very compassionate and caring. Dr. Sliva took the time to ensure I understood what is going on with my condition as well as my treatment options. I was in control of my treatment the entire time; I never felt forced to make a decision I was not comfortable with. I ended up needing to have surgery and felt more comfortable with that decision that I expected. Post-surgery I had regular phone calls with Megan (Dr. Sliva's nurse) to check on my progress and any issues I was encountering. Post spinal surgery it was a wonderful someone as caring as Megan checking on me through initial recovery. Now, seven weeks post-surgery I am in less pain than before the surgery. I really didn't think I'd ever get rid of the pain I was experiencing prior to surgery as I had lived with it for so long. I cannot recommend Dr. Sliva, PA-C Jason, and Nurse Megan enough. They are an amazing team and really care about their patients.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Sliva recently did a 2nd TLIF surgery on my spine and for the first time in quite a while I am experiencing NO PAIN whatsoever. When you are having back issues I think it is important to see someone who specializes in that sort of treatment. Through both of my surgeries here I have found Dr. Sliva to be not only very skilled and knowledgeable, but also friendly and personable. He explains the problem and what needs to be done to fix it - then he fixes it. Also, his team of care specialists and nurses - namely Jason, Megan, and Kayla were just THE BEST. ALL of the staff here I feel have a genuine interest in helping one get the best care possible in an efficient and timely manner. If you are having back issues - I would absolutely recommend RSC. We are lucky to have so much care so close to home.

He was able to quickly address my issue despite the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 crisis. Without his skill and expertise it could have been a very different outcome. Experiencia fantástica: I went to see Dr Sliva after spending 2 months in excruciating pain. Both Dr. Sliva and his PA Brad Wolf were absolutely amazing. They were compassionate about the pain I was in, and spent so much time to fully explain all my options in great detail. I needed a 2 level spinal fusion which was scheduled. With the pain being so bad, the wait for insurance approval and the surgery date seemed like an eternity. During that time I made multiple calls to Megan (Dr. Sliva’s nurse). She is so knowledgeable and had answers for my questions immediately. She is compassionate and was always so patient and kind. If she wasn’t able to answer the phone and I left a message she always called back promptly. She is awesome! I can’t say enough how much I appreciate all three of them…Dr. Sliva, Brad and Megan. Dr. Sliva and his staff took time with me to fully understand and explain my symptoms. When I heard I needed screws and rods (TLIF), I was petrified! But surgery came and went. I went on vacation and had fallen which ended in me having a horrible herniated disc and numbness down my leg and not able to walk correctly...After seeing Dr. Sliva and him performing an open lumbar discectomy.. Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Michael Roh performed a Prestige® Artificial Cervical Disc Replacement (C6-C7) on me on May 27, 2020. My experiences with them — pre-op, the procedure, and post-op — could not have gone better. Everything that I needed to know was clearly explained so that I had no questions or concerns. The same is true for the surgery itself. Everyone is different, but for me, I went home afterwards and didn't feel like I had undergone a procedure in my neck. I did not need to use the prescribed pain medicine, only taking Tylenol for a couple of days. If this surgery is recommended, you do not need to be apprehensive about it. Dr. Roh and his staff at the Rockford Spine Center are first-rate.

My husband can now stand up straight, sit and lay down without pain! We are so incredibly grateful for how Dr Roh was able to give my husband his life back. Experiencia fantástica: I can't say enough good things about Dr. Sliva and his entire staff! I have never met a more gracious physician and I speak as a retired nurse. There are not many who would thank you for the privilege of being able to take care of you. I also have to mention Brad Wolf his PA and Megan his nurse. Both of them took the time to fully explain my surgery and were happy to answer any questions. I was very apprehensive as this was my 5th cervical spine operation. I had an amazing outcome and the symptoms disappeared immediately after surgery. The post op care was also outstanding. I received a call from Megan just to see how I was doing. This is the first review that I have ever written about anything, but I wanted everyone to know what a wonderful surgeon Dr. Sliva is and what a great support team he has.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Sliva was my surgeon. My surgery was scheduled for 7:30 a.m. and I was home by Noon the same day. In my case, pain management was simple. I only had to use over-the-counter Tylenol Extra Strength 3 times and the prescribed muscle relaxant once. I did what was advised by Dr. Sliva and I feeling great! So much so, that I haven't felt this good for a long time. Dr. Sliva and his staff are knowledgeable and highly skilled in thier respective roles. As well as show great concern and respect for me as a patient. I would not hesitate to use his services again, if the need should arise.

Experiencia fantástica: The bottom line: Rockford Spine Center, including Dr. Sliva's team and the physical therapy department, provided excellent care for my severely herniated disk, and I am confident that they would provide excellent care for you too. More details: as of my first visit to the Spine Center, I had been in chronic back pain for 26 months (pro tip: don't wait that long). For most of that time I lived in different state where I did physical therapy for several months with a therapist who, in retrospect, wasn't listening to me as well as she could have. After that, I mostly I tried to manage my symptoms on my own until this past summer when my pain reached a totally unmanageable level. I saw a primary care physician who ordered an MRI and then referred me to Rockford Spine Center. The front desk staff were able to get me in the same day to see Dr. Sliva and his physician's assistant. During the appointment, they were clear that surgery is serious and that they prefer not to do it, but that given the length of time that I'd been in pain, the development of my symptoms (numbness, precursor symptoms to foot drop), and my previous go at physical therapy, it was very unlikely that I would recover without surgery. It's worth noting that, like many people I suppose, I very very much did not want to have surgery. But by the time I made the choice to go forward with the procedure, I felt confident that it was the best choice that I could make for my body and that Dr. Sliva and his team would do the best possible job. At no point did I feel pressured to make my decision quickly or to make the decision to have surgery at all. They gave me facts about the state of my spine and my options and let me decide how to proceed. During the 4 weeks between my first appointment at the Spine Center and my surgery date, the office kept in contact with me. I received kind, helpful assistance with: making sure that all of my pre-op appointments were scheduled and completed on time, that I was mentally and physically prepared for the surgery, making sure that my insurance was properly processed, and managing my breakthrough pain when I had to switch from Ibuprofen to Acetaminophen in the two weeks before surgery. I always received prompt responses, and never felt like I was bothering any of the staff that I talked to. On the day of my surgery, Dr. Sliva came to talk to me to see if I had any last questions and to just generally be reassuring (much appreciated). The procedure went well, and they were able to do a complete job even though my case had a couple of potential challenges given the extent and duration of my herniation. I woke up from the surgery with incisional pain, but no sciatic pain--overall, I was arguably in less pain when I woke up than when I got to the hospital. I took my prescribed pain medication for about 24 hours and after that I no longer needed any medication. Not even a single regular dose Acetaminophen. I did use ice packs scrupulously, around the clock for at least a week, as was strongly recommended by Brad, Dr. Sliva's PA. I went for a walk around my neighborhood, ice pack strapped to my back, one day after surgery. Post surgery, I started physical therapy as scheduled (also at the Spine Center). The staff in the physical therapy department are all wonderful. Seriously. They listened to me and they helped me finally understand what it means to tuck my pelvis. Also important: they are kind and funny--a desirable quality in the people who you are going to see twice a week for two months for the enthralling activity of bending and lifting practice. :) All of this very, very long review is to say that I had a long series of very good experiences at the Spine Center. I'm on different insurance now, and the Spine Center is not in my network anymore, but if I needed spine care again (I'm 28 years old, so chances are that I will need some help again sometime in my life), I will almost certainly pay the higher out-of-network costs in order to go back to Rockford Spine Center.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I have both had spinal surgeries with Dr Sliva and are so glad we chose him as our surgeon. He is so knowledgeable and experienced in his field. He made us comfortable and at ease from the very first visit. We didn’t feel like “just another patient”. He takes the time to listen to the pain you’re dealing with and understands. His focus is on you and what you need as an individual. Talking with him is like talking with our friend because he really listens and explains the procedure he’s recommending in terms we could understand. His entire staff including his physician assistant and nurse are also fantastic! Simply put, he’s the best and we would never use anyone else.

Experiencia fantástica: I love the staff here from the warm receptionist on every floor. It doesn't matter if its the MRI team on the first floor. The physical Therapy team on the 2nd floor. Or the wonderful Dr. Walker and her amazing nurse Cindy on the 3rd floor. Or the surgeons on the 4th floor like Dr Sliva. They are all professional, curtious and caring here. They don't try and fill you full of pain killers to hide your issues or push unnecessary surgeries therapy and making changes to improve quality of life is the first step.

Experiencia fantástica: The MRI dept. of the Rockford Spine center provides professional yet personable and efficiently caring service. The office staff is expeditious and prepared. Pete, one of their MRI techs, conducted 2 different procedures for me and he was as caring an expert as anyone could hope for - making sure I was as comfortable as possible while talking me through each step of the MRI process. Dr. Walker works closely with this department which makes followup appts seemless and convenient. I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Walker and the accompanying services that this provider offers. I would recommend them to anyone.

To have severe pain that makes you incapable to function in any capacity to complete quality of life being given back to you...well what price do you put on this? Doctor Fred Sweet and his associates and staff are more concerned about you with amazing compassion given to every individual. To be given the whole and complete diagnosis without pulling any punches as to what is happening now and into the future with continued support...amazing! Other medical facilities could take some lessons from their way of handling people. I do not have a pedestal high enough to put them on! Experiencia fantástica: Last month I finally had surgery with Dr. Sliva from the Rockford Spine Center.For more than a year I had experienced low back pain and pain radiating down both legs. Physical therapy didn't make it better, and steroid epidurals only helped sometimes. Dr. Sliva did a double TLIF on my lumbar spine, and as soon as I "came to" from the anesthesia, I had no more pain in my legs! Dr. Sliva and his team did a wonderful job. Additionally, he's the kind of physician who really listens and who took the time to patiently answer all my questions. I highly recommend him!

Experiencia fantástica: I had sciatic back/leg/buttock pain for 18 months. Chiropractic adjustments helped but still suffered daily pain. After reviewing my MRI Dr. Sliva recommended surgery to fix my slipped disc in between L3 & 4. I had disc fusion surgery at 7 am and had very little back discomfort even with a 4-5" incision. Went home next day, 2 weeks later I was walking 1 mile a day and returned to work less than 3 weeks later pain free and I am 63 years old! I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sliva and his staff and thank him for giving me my life back!

Experiencia fantástica: Our 20 yr old daughter had spinal fusion in Dec 2016. Dr Sliva and staff were amazing to work with! They never rushed us and took their time answering each and every question we had, prior to surgery, without making us feel incompetent by using tons of medical jargon that we are unable to relate to. Dr Sliva even took the time to reassure us worried parents that he would take the very best care of her, right before they took her to surgery. As this was her first surgery, I can't tell you how much this helped settle down some of the anxiety we were feeling.
