Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital: Opiniones
Experiencia negativa: This hospital has gone down hill. You come in to the er to get checked in and sat. Brought my wife in after having surgery. Im complete pain and shortness of breath. And still gave us a paper and sad us down!! Everyone in the staff smiling and having a fun time while people are suffering with pain holding a paper. Pathetic how sad this hospital has turned now!!
Experiencia positiva: The worst thing about SVMC is the parking. It’s is very limited. Took our Daughter to ER dropping my wife and daughter at memorial first. Had to park over 1 mile away then walk beck to ER.
Experiencia fantástica: Delivered my daughter here and had a really good experience with all the nurses and staff that assisted me. Nurses were very attentive.
Experiencia negativa: Rude office staff. My husband arrived on time for his biopsy. Greeted the receptionist with a friendly hello, and his name, to which she replied there’s a balance owed. No hello. No good afternoon, no manners at all. My husband replied politely that everything had been paid in full online. No apology offered, just a cold, sit down we’ll call you. We’re a bit nervous, and anxious, I guess a polite good afternoon, is too much to ask here.
Experiencia fantástica: DR. ERIK KRAMER IS AMAZING. Just amazing!! I LOVE ALL OF THE STAFF HERE!! They never ignore how you are feeling and will do there best to get you feeling better asap
Experiencia negativa: Incredibly bad service I called to make an appointment and the lady was rude and hang up on me she wants helpful either
Experiencia fantástica: On the 15th of April , 2025 due to a very high heat rate, I was admitted to Salinas Valley Medical Center. The last time I had been at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital (old title) I gave birth to my daughter Elizabeth. It was St. Patrick's Day, 1970. I need to honor my obstetrician Dr. Robert Klinefelter with a few words. He was sure that Elizabeth was going to be a St. Patricks Day baby and he was all smiles as he announced her arrival at 1:30am that special St. Patrick"s Day. Sadly, Dr Klinefelter was killed in a accident a few months after Elizabeth was born and here today, I want to acknowledge him. He was a lovely man and a very, very good doctor. He would be amazed to see how much Salinas Valley Health has grown and how famous it has become. I remember the good and caring attention Elizabeth and I received back then at Salinas Valley Center. Elizabeth, is proud that she was born in this hospital. Years fly by and after being away from the area, I moved back a few years ago. Salinas is much bigger now than it was back in 1968. I remember as we drove into the town of Salinas that January evening, I looked at a sign that said "Salinas". population 66,000. I remember it so well because, that was the population of my home City, Cork back in Ireland, the previous year as I was leaving it, to come to California. I marveled at the coincidence of it and realized what a small country, Ireland is but of course in my eyes "mighty". Now, down to thanking the doctors and nurses, technicians, the woman from the kitchen, the valets in the parking lot. Kudos and genuine gratitude to all of them. My three day stay at now a sprawling and well regarded hospital in the area and the nation, was like a three day holiday. Even though, my heart rate was of concern, it was being monitored and gradually going down. I received so much attention and never for a moment felt neglected. Dr. Jordan, the attending heart surgeon came to check on me twice and lifted my spirits. He is young, and bright and caring and he reminds me of my doctor who had just performed a colonoscopy not long before. He and Dr. Fiorenza are both dedicated to their chosen field of medicine and a lot of patients will be helped by them as they go about the job of healing. I don't have all the names of the nurses for this review but for sure, the head of the hospital will have all of them very soon. In the meantime, I hope they will know how much they were appreciated and how I actually missed them when I came home. I hope this review will at least in part convey my gratitude to everyone there at Salinas Valley Care. May all the doctors, nurses, technicians and every member of the staff in all categories be proud of what they do. At 85 years old, I have seen a lot and been in hospital in 3 different countries. Salinas Valley Care can hold its head high. May it, and all who work there, be safe and secure. I forgot to mention the camaraderie and friendship displayed by the nurses to each other. It was so nice to see that. Again, if anyone that should have been in this review does not think they are part of it, please know that you are. I have not forgotten a single person who crossed my path during my time at Salinas Valley Care- With regards, Rose Flanagan
Experiencia negativa: Very bad service in your emergency room I was for more than two hours the empty room and I could not receive medical attention I had to go somewhere else to look for assistance
Experiencia fantástica: The staff and doctors were kind, and fast paced but looked through all possibilities of what you may have going on. Waiting room was clean and quiet. Love the security check up front for safety reasons. 10/10.
Experiencia negativa: Horrible manger very rude today made really bad comments
Experiencia negativa: Horrible manger and very rude
Experiencia fantástica: Victoria was very nice
Experiencia negativa: Emergency services are outside in a tent. ⛺️ I don’t understand why the emergency check in is outside in the rain. What is going on here? This is embarrassing!
Experiencia fantástica: I was in the labor and delivery for 28 days and all the nurses that took care of me during my stay were amazing day and night they did everything and explained everything kept me company they went above and beyond and to them i am grateful they still went to visit after i had my baby ❤️ they all really love what they do also Hilda the lady cleaning the rooms she was really sweet and john and dixie the therapy dog they were amazing too
Experiencia negativa: A one 1 for the food it’s great but the wait sucks really bad I’m in here 6 hrs and still waiting how messed up
Experiencia negativa: Whoever working at the emergency room today. Sunday Dec.8th at 12:00 pm. You are contributing to the problem in the health care system. You and your rules over not being able to be with your loved ones in the room with them, it is the stupidest rule ever. And to top if off the manners and the condescending attitude from the front desk/tent/ whatever you want to call it. No empathy whatsoever. This hospital has been one of my least favorite but after today, you are at the bottom of them all.
Experiencia fantástica: I broke my foot yesterday afternoon and had to go to the emergency room. They got me a wheelchair right away and the triage people were so nice! Everyone I encountered working there was exceedingly kind. From the x ray tech who offered me a blanket to the people who made my cast to the wonderful lady who taught me how to use my new crutches. I struggle with anxiety, but I felt at ease because of the people working there.
Experiencia negativa: Horrible experience in the ER!!! Took my son in for a concussion I ended up leaving the ER because the wait time was ridiculous. Other people that were waiting were getting called in except my son. I asked twice and all I got was sorry we are very busy! I grabbed my son and walked away. Never again going to their ER. Horrible waiting time.
Experiencia negativa: Salinas Valley Memorial hospital misdiagnosed my mother's glioblastoma and sent her home stating her MRI had improved. By the time she had worsening symptoms, she was taken back to the ER, where the tumor had grown rapidly. She died 23 days later. I blame Salinas Valley Memorial and their neurology team for not giving her the one thing she wanted—time. The team instead spun wheels and wasted a great amount of time insisiting she had an infection of the brain—this was all time that could have been spent pursuing cancer treatment. This wasn't days. This was over a month. Yes, glioblastoma is a fatal disease—she knew that and so did we. But earlier intervention would have given her the opportunity for chemo and radiation and time. Some other horrors experienced there? A nurse admitting to me she forgot to give my mom pain medications for 12+ hours following brain surgery. A patient begging for help in their Telemetry wing (so bad that I—while visiting my mom—when in to check on the woman). I called to file a grievance about this four months ago. Zero calls back. Had to call again to get their attention. It's apparent they have no interest in any corrective actions.
Experiencia negativa: Awful they don't care for their patients well being. They just sent them on their way. Don't care to do full work up on patient. I don't recommend Salinas valley at all! They don't care about patient care! They refused iv fluid for cancer patient!
Experiencia negativa: very bad service form customer service mainly
Experiencia fantástica: Service, service, service. From the moment we walked in to the bedside treatment, to the staff communication, and the genuine concern for comfort and patient best interest. Our experience has to be the best we’ve ever experienced. My wife and I are so impressed with the care and treatment that we can’t express enough our appreciation. My wife received the best care and they were so courteous to me. This is how to make an unpleasant proposition in to a wonderful experience. And this is how to deal with a husbands anxiety. Thank you to all the staff.
Experiencia fantástica: From my arrival to my pending discharge everyone that I have come in contact with as been exceptional.
Experiencia fantástica: We are visiting from out of state and needed urgent care from an orthopedic doctor. Our insurance company listed Salinas Valley Health. Wow. Everything was good from getting an appointment, the receptionist checking us in, the wait time ( which they just on a computer screen) and the visit with the PA. Impressive. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful hospital! Very clean. Doctor's and nurse's are very knowledgeable and have amazing bedside manners. The food is very good! You are able to pick from a large menu. Parking is a bit of a pain in the butt.
Experiencia fantástica: I have nothing but good things to say about this hospital and its staff. I brought my husband to the ER because he was dizzy and having pain. He had been diagnosed with a rare cancer and we were waiting for one of his doctors to refer him to a specialist. His doctor never got back to us. The ER doctor at SVMH, Ian Stehmeier, took it upon himself to find us a specialist in SF and a bed at the hospital there. They admitted my husband for a week until a bed opened up in SF. All the nursing staff and doctors were helpful, caring, and conscientious. Even the parking attendants and front desk people were great! SVMH took excellent care of my husband until he was transferred to SF.
Experiencia negativa: This hospital is not what it was. 4 days ago i took my dad out of there ASAP!!!, they were starving him from no liquids and food for 8 days. We had meetings on what was their purpose for those actions taken. He had no issues on swallowing, and the reason we took him in was for his oxygen levels fluctuating. I literally was taking a corps home and we had to place him on hospice. We immediately started feeding him to bring my dad back to us and being in a day by day situation of survival mode. 4 days later my dad was given a 2nd chance of life, but in reality he shouldn't have gone at all to that extreme. So please think twice before you come to this hospital they do not care about your life or listen to your family members that know you better then them. We felt the doctor wanted him to die because he kept telling us there is no hope.
Experiencia negativa: My experience with their mental health program... As a person with Bipolar, I struggle with my emotions often as many folks do, but my title legally allows the assumptions surrounding it to be exaggerated. I came to SVMH looking for emergency counseling with someone in person. I was completely honest and open with them about how I had been feeling and my actions leading up to seeking help. They believed me, but they also believed that I was hiding something else. They held me for 24hrs and wouldn't let my wife or mother see me. They kept asking about my family (wife and 2 kids) and their safety, almost as if they were worried that I had done harm to them. Even though they were in the lobby asking for me for hours. I appealed the 5150 myself, my wife with power of attorney was not considered. She tells me herself, because my phone and liberties were stripped upon being admitted. At the end of the 24hrs, I was shipped off to a mental health clinic in Sacramento (4hrs away) on a stretcher with restraints. Even the clinic director asked if the restraints were necessary, which the emergency response team from SVMH said was protocol. Not to mention they only fed me once during my 24hr stay at SVMH. If you need any kind of mental health related assistance. I highly recommend that you first seek help with someone you trust, someone who understands. They might be able to dig you out of your spiral before it comes to the extremes above. Even though the above was unjust, you deserve to be helped by someone who cares.
Experiencia fantástica: Salinas valley retail pharmacy is the best place to get you medication and refills. Salinas valley retail pharmacy is informed fast service and ALWAYS Pleasant AND HAPPY TO HELP. Salinas valley Hospital is really the best place to go if you need emergency care. We tend to forget how really great they are. I spent time in Colinga and Handford for a visit and I was shocked on how much I am grateful for the excellent care we have here at Salinas Valley Hospital in Monteray county. We here a spoiled by informed nurses and Doctors and technicians for X rays Imaging and MRIs blood ect right at our finger tips. This is real folks others around the small cities are nothing in compare to what we have here. FIVE STARS TO ALL OF YOU FROM Doctors to security ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Experiencia fantástica: Great care and experience I received from emergency staff and heart center staff.
Experiencia negativa: WORST HOSPITAL IN THE CENTRAL COAST!!! THE ER TO THE MAIN HOSPITAL!!!!!
Experiencia fantástica: I was born here
Experiencia negativa: I do not recommend this hospital. I am no longer going here because I do not feel that they took my well-being seriously. This is at the ER department. They denied me a test of something that could be life threatening after I explained why I suspect I am suffering from it. They told me I didn't match their criteria for the test. Their criteria was based off of their own personal preference rather than the criteria that fits what I was trying to get tested for. My dad went through what I was trying to be seen for three separate times and the criteria they were basing it off of, my father had no signs of it when he was diagnosed. Three of their staff members were smirking/laughing at me even though I explained the good reason I had for needing the test. We do not find them very educated. I am disappointed by what Memorial Hospital has become. Three generations of my family were born here and I have a very close relative who worked at this hospital for years. I used to always speak highly of the place and recommend it but with a heavy heart I have to say that I do not trust them with making decisions about my well-being. I will not be returning. I have had been disrespected on multiple occasions that I've been to their ER now. They have put irrelevant and misconstrued information in my discharge papers. I gave this hospital multiple chances after a few letdowns but today has been the last one. The rude staff should be ashamed of themselves. Laughing at someone who comes in when they are concerned about something that can become life threatening. I even asked if I brought in medical proof of what could be causing what I am requesting if they would give me the test I wanted and the lady literally told me not to do that. Terrible healthcare. Worst I've ever had. I went somewhere else to get my original concern looked at and they told me it HAS gotten worse. So basically the chances of me having what I was wanting the test for ARE higher...like I tried explaining to the healthcare worker. I wouldn't trust this place with my health EVER.
Experiencia fantástica: My mom went there recently and they attended her really quick and they actually helped her.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you for saving my life...so kind and fast acting the nurses. I'll never go to the other one...thanks
Experiencia fantástica: Clean hospital first of all, nice people working there who are concerned about how you feel and what they can do to assist you. Doctors are exceptionally educated and foremost in the newest techniques and surgical procedures in their fields. Good, solid group of educated people taking care of you. I do wish that Google would allow me to enter the hospital's correct address: 450 East Romie Lane Salinas, CA. 93901
Experiencia negativa: I hope this hospital improved, but I doubt it. My ex-wife and I took our son here, because we could walk here, as we didn't have a car at the time. He was sick, and he needed treatment. The staff here were, for the most part, horrible and accusatory. They decided that apparently we had done something to our son (which we hadn't), and instead of treating him, they focused on trying to get us in trouble with cps. They had him there for about two weeks, doing practically nothing. They transferred him to Stanford where he was treated right away, but because of this hospital's negligence, it was a day late and a dollar short, and he passed away at three weeks old. He died from a disease that has a 75% survival rate in infants if the medicine is started early. I got his medical records after he passed. This hospital knew what he had, long before they decided to transfer him, and refused to treat him, and focused on a bogus cps case that shouldn't have existed. Had I had enough money, or known how to get a lawyer at the time, I would have sued them into oblivion. Not only are they responsible for my sons death, but they also killed my friends grandmother. She had an aneurysm and they gave her blood thinners. I don't doubt that there may be good staff here, I know that at least one of the nurses was very nice. But that doesn't change that they are responsible for the death of an innocent infant, due to negligence.
Experiencia negativa: Horrible hospital! I was put by the front door that kept opening in a wheel.chair I had to ask for a warm blanket more than three times. The staff was not supportive. A young child started screaming for more than 45 minutes. I wanted to leave. I was held against my will. They need more training.
Experiencia fantástica: I was just recently admitted to this hospital and was taken care of. Everyone was very professional and respectful. The team who helped me during my stay was excellent. A few names to thank are: Joe, Bernadette, Valerie, Neena, Dr. Mendoza and many more I can't remember but thank you all very much. I appreciate everything you guys do and continue to do. Your help doesn't go unrecognized. Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: HORRIBLE the female nurses were so rude to my aunt they were making fun of her. It honestly disgusts me on how horrible people can be to elderly people.
Experiencia positiva: Nurses, doctor very helpful physicians. All greeted my family and I with a smile directions are clear there is lounging areas and a cafeteria open from 8am - a little before 5pm
Experiencia negativa: Very bad service, a lot of waiting in the room. I went on December 21st and they let me leave on December 22nd. Since that day I prefer a thousand times to go to the Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, I know is so far but I am 100% sure that they offer very good service and friendliness.
Experiencia fantástica: Very professional very fast very clean I'd rather come to Memorial Hospital over Medical Center any day.
Experiencia fantástica: Very polite I was in and I was out fast. I prefer Memorial Hospital over Natividad Medical Center any day.
Experiencia fantástica: I had a total hip replacement done yesterday at this hospital with Dr Tardieu surgeon and Dr Hines anesthesia. Everyone at this hospital was so very professional and kind. I could not be happier with the care I received. This health care system has always been predictably high quality. I had breast cancer 4 years ago and am completely cured. Same wonderful professional care. No need to leave this area for health care
Experiencia fantástica: I love how everyone treated my fiance while he was being treated for cancer related issues.
Experiencia fantástica: Gracias adiós todo salió bien
Experiencia positiva: They were able to diagnose my sister had cancer and were quick to act. And if they could not provide more stable help they did arraged my sister to be transported to Stanford and wasted no time.
Experiencia fantástica: The nurses were all terrific. Very friendly and professional. Dr Dickey the surgeon was fantastic. Everyone did a great job of explaining what they were doing! Great experience.
Experiencia negativa: They're doing triage in a tent, yet all the workers in the hospital either aren't wearing even surgical masks, or they wear them under their chins. It's like they can't figure out why there are so many sick people coming in. I spent nearly 6 hours in a common "test results waiting room" where I received all my care and was unable to talk to or see my support person for the duration. I had zero privacy receiving treatment and test results in this common area with five other patients. Not a single provider who entered the room bothered to even wear a surgical mask, let alone a respirator, despite at least one of them with a deep, wet cough. Of 6 patients in the room, 5 wore masks, and providers still didn't get the memo. I didn't see a single provider wash their hands or even use hand sanitizer. The only provider I saw put on fresh gloves was the one putting in my IV. I didn't see any other providers put on fresh gloves and didn't see any change them between patients. At least one patient was violently ill with some GI issue who was in the main lobby waiting room for hours, and the taps in the bathrooms barely work. Go anywhere else. They don't have a basic understanding of infection control or patient privacy.
Experiencia fantástica: Great service staff an food was good. Thank Dr. Mustoe for saving my life. I will be greatly grateful to you
Experiencia fantástica: Take gd care of me
Experiencia fantástica: Simple it's the best
Experiencia fantástica: The ER was just Ok my Mother came whit an open wound. But she was send to the pediatric area .and the nurses there were the best. They did a great job. I'm very happy with the hospital. .
Experiencia fantástica: atención inmediata y muy buena atención gracias
Experiencia fantástica: They treated my friend Betty so much better than chomp ever did, should've brought her here much sooner
Experiencia negativa: Salinas medical hospital is the worst hospital. I went in for a bad cough i saw a physician assistant (PA). I wanted to see a doctor, but they said we can treat you like a doctor. I told the PA my lungs was making a lot of noise. The PA said that it is the thick mucous. Why didn't the PA give me medicine to thin my mucous? Maybe it would of relieved my cough better. I was given an inhaler and cough pills. A week Iater I was still sick. Went to the ER again and saw a doctor this time and it was a waste of time. They are unorganized in the ER. They do not have a system of who comes in first and should be seen in that order. The place is a joke! I am treating my own self bought mucinex to loosen my mucous and now I am not coughing as much. When I received my bill from the hospital, I received two different bills. One for the hospital and one from the PA. I always thought salinas memorial hospital was high class, I was wrong.

Experiencia negativa: After waiting in the ER for 5 hours, My wife got admitted to the hospital. I had to move my car because of the two hour parking restrictions. They said I could come back in after moving my car but they wouldn’t let me back in until visitors hours started. They said because she wasn’t registered to that floor yet. What a bunch of B.S. I will say though, the ER staff was exceptional when we were finally seen.
Experiencia fantástica: excelente
Experiencia negativa: Horrible patient care . I just left the emergency room after taking my 2 year old for a head injury. The only attention we recieved was from the billing dept. Dr popped in after my son fell asleep. She asked that we wake him up and would be back in 5 min. 45 minutes later after she was done with her break (soda and magazine in hand still) she said she would discharge us . 30 minutes later I decided to walk out and her nurse rushed to have me $ign the discharge form . Gotta get the final signature to collect I guess.
Experiencia fantástica: I am so grateful for the awesome compassionate care I received while at the hospital following a 4 level repair on my cervical spine by Dr Halamandaris. Excellent surgeon and excellent care!!! Feeling wonderful 1 week post op.
Experiencia negativa: 2023 - May - 16 Horrible service got my blood drawn and took them 5 hours to get the results i guess california only gave salinas 1 blood work machine for the whole community its crazy…. The amount of people was the minimin compared to other times ive been here….

Experiencia fantástica: I will choose them any day over CHOMP! Excellent group of professionals. I had such a wonderful, caring, experience in the ER. My nurse, Anthony, was absolutely top notch! Thank you!
Experiencia fantástica: Worked in Salinas Memorial hospital as a traveling OB tech, and loved it. In two words I will describe Salinas Memorial hospital, Diversity and Friendly.

Experiencia positiva: The people are nice, but there is no parking within the parking complex, or the emergency parking lot. The waiting room is not up to standard health code. If there's one thing that they could improve on; it would be the limited parking space available for visitors.
Experiencia negativa: I am CURRENTLY sitting in an ER room with my daughter. We have been here for OVER 7 HOURS! No one is checking in with us regularly, we waited in the waiting room for over 2 hours, we have been waiting for discharge papers and a medicine dose for over an hour. I am super unhappy. My daughter was born in this hospital but I can say I'm glad I'm done having kids because if I were having anymore, I would avoid this place like the plague.
Experiencia negativa: Use to have no problems was a great place. Now the last few times been in the error takes for ever. Today may be 5 patients in error took over 9 hours. 2 and a half hours till they took my daughter to a room. In my experience people who have any government services had anything to do with cps or currently on cps get treated differently and get lower priority.
Experiencia negativa: About a quarter of the staff there are surprisingly horrible. The vast majority of the staff are incredibly wonderful though. It’s also a very ugly hospital.
Experiencia negativa: So called nurse Amy Austin is horrific. Beware folks. No compassion takes NO responsibility for her actions. Stay clear of her.
Experiencia fantástica: Took my mom last night for a checkup after a fall. Everyone was so accommodating from the security guard to the receptionist, nurses and the doctor. I really appreciated the gentle care they took with my mom. A big thanks to the entire staff!
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent.
Experiencia fantástica: Great service, in and out emergency department
Experiencia fantástica: I have lived in the Hollister for 20 years and have never been to this hospital for any reason. I always head to San Jose for treatment. I heard there was a good cardiologist in Salinas, so I gave him a try. His name is Thomas Mustoe. What a treasure he is and tended to my issues with the bedside manner, and being professional as any one I have ever been to. I have had many medical problems. He wanted me to get a cardiac cath. He wanted me to go to the hospital, I hesitated a min and then agreed. I went in Dec 1. It was an extraordinary experience. Each and every employee was kind and efficient. Did not wait more than 5 min for transferring from place to place. The cath lab was super. The whole hospital was spic and span. Now, my 2 nurses were just the best. Yep, gonna give my sincere appreciation to Lori and Mercedes. And all the people who came in, but the nurses made me comfortable and secure in knowing they knew their stuff. I know too many details. I am so very happy I decided to give this hospital a try. I would not give any hesitation upon going back. Great place if you need to go. Thanks everyone.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent Service and Attention
Experiencia fantástica: I went to ER on Wed. Night 5pm for problems after out-patient procedure in San Jose. All was surprisingly very organized, fast and all personnel kind. Dr. Kimberly Moulton is what all MDs should be. Caring, skilled, compassionate, and helpful. She ordered many labs, treated me for several hours and was reassuring. Kudus to you Dr. Moulton- you really helped me and I am very grateful.
Experiencia fantástica: Visited the Starbucks near the parking structure. It's located in the bottom floor temporarily. The street level Starbucks is being remodeled. Great customer service and coffee ☕️. Plus this Starbucks closes late around 1130pm .
Experiencia negativa: Amparo, RN: rude, disrespectful and lack of empathy. My grandma was admitted to the hospital yesterday night and I stopped by this afternoon to see how she was doing and just get an overall status of her since my dad (son)and aunt (daughter) had difficulty understanding the information that was given to them by nurses/doctors/staff due to language barrier. I asked Amparo if she can provide me with a brief update on how my grandma is doing, but as I was asking her, she stopped me and told me that she had provided an update to my dad and aunt that I should communicate with them to get on the same page regarding my grandma’s health status. Her approach to the situation and her demeanor was very condescending and rude. How are we supposed to be on the same page if she refuses to provide any updates or more clarification.

Experiencia negativa: 2 hours waiting to be seen. Sad to see the quality of care is non existent there. Also the security guard lady was very rude. I went because I wasn’t feeling well, and for them to make me feel worse. I ended up going to NMC and got the best care. Told me I had appendicitis. But I guess going off SVMH PAIN SCALE THAT DIDNT MATTER because everyone’s pain is the same when it comes to the same thing. Don’t take your family there!!! If you can avoid it!
Experiencia positiva: Kinda busy today checking in at main entrance. I suggest if you have an appointment come at least 30 minutes early to do the screening check-in.
Experiencia negativa: This review is specific to Salinas Memorial Healthcare System Suite C. I just left no more than 10 minutes ago. I live in Monterey and I’m so infuriated it’s the bad experience I just can’t wait to share how it went…. The lady at the front desk failed to tell me what kind of digital documents I’m signing had it not been because I asked her. (It means nothing if you hand me the papers after you printed them and handle them to me without telling me) Not a good morning, not to me and not the gentleman then came in next. The demeanor is of someone who doesn’t really want to be there and do her job. It was as if everything bothered her, even the interaction between her and the lab tech seemed like an annoyance to her. Which by the way the lab tech was night and day in comparison to her. Very pleasant to talk to and overall it was the interaction I wish I had the moment I walked in. The front desk lady kept starring at me, I don’t know if she was having a bag morning but if that’s the reason you have to leave your personal stuff out the door. If that’s not the reason then please maybe re train your employee.
Experiencia positiva: Very rude but they do an ok job
Experiencia negativa: I have been sitting in this emergency room for approximately 45 min- I am here because I believe I am having an allergic reaction to something- whatever it is, has caused my throat to begin to swell shut. I also have asthma and not sure if this has triggered that as well, or if it is due to me beginning to panick- but I am also having a hard time breathing. I can NOT believe this- my FN throat is almost swole shut and I haven’t even been seen yet.
Experiencia negativa: Took my father to the ER in the morning and it was instructed to call me with information, its 3 pm nobody has called me regarding his condition. The only reason i found out he is been admitted is because i have called multiple times. No other information given or a call back!
Experiencia negativa: The billing department alone is enough of a deterrent for this place. I have been trying to get them to work with me on a substantial bill. In the past, a worker named Lupe referred my account to collections before the date posted on a notice mailed to me. As this is incorrect, the account was pulled back to the hospital when I called to inquire. More recently, when I spoke to the supervisor named Brenda, and was asking for some flexibility with monthly payment options due to Covid-19 and numerous bills with 3 other hospitals, she responded with, "you couldn't go into any other business and pay whatever you want." Likening emergency medical care to a haircut or a sandwich does not inspire trust. Finally, she offered the brilliant suggestion of, "well maybe the other hospitals will work with you." Indeed they did, as they are professionals, unlike Brenda or Lupe. As traumatizing as this pandemic has been, this place, or at least Brenda, will still treat you like a number with a wallet and operate like a shady business, offering no dignity or understanding. Keep in mind other hospitals if you can, CHOMP, Stanford and even Natividad have been so much more helpful during this time and this experience will be informing future healthcare decisions.

Experiencia positiva: On Monday, January 3, 2022, I went to SVMH emergency room with chest and left arm pain accompanied by my sister. Before entering the emergency department I was stopped by a security guard outside the white tent. I was asked the usual questions regarding COVID. My sister was given a visitors pass. Upon entering the ER I was asked for a white paper. I wasn’t given one. I was sent back outside to get one. It was 11PM and I was having chest pains! The security guard apologized for not giving me the white paper that was a COVID clearance. From then on I received good service. I was sent home after tests showed I was not having a heart attack. The next day I realized a lapse in COVID protocol as my sister was asked none of the COVID questions, did not need the white paper and was in the ER room with me from 11 PM to 3:30 AM.
Experiencia negativa: Worst hospital in Salinas and I thought it was natividad… nurses here need to communicate more…. Came to the ER and waited 1hour in the waiting room to go inn.. when literally people that were Beaty waking in, would go in first than me…

Experiencia fantástica: I delivered my first baby there and was high risk. I was there for about 5-6 days because of complications with my pregnancy. Their labor and deliver department and IBCLC Holly is excellent. Thank you SVMH for getting myself and baby home safely. ❤️
