One discovery visit with Dr. Lance was enough to get me the answers I needed. It’s been a month of PT and my quality of life has improved drastically. The attention to detail Dr. Lance and the team provide is incredible. It feels like going to “how to move your body” school. I feel stronger and more agile than I have in years. My orthopedic surgeon recommended surgery, but I wanted to try one more option before taking that step. I am so glad I did. This team completely turned things around for me. They quickly identified and treated the root of my hip issue, and within just a couple of weeks my pain level dropped significantly. I just completed my treatment, and I’m now pretty much pain-free. In addition, as a physician, I often prescribe physical therapy to my patients. So I believe that I am a very good judge of PT providers and services. Let me tell you that I am beyond impressed with Dr. Lance and the team at Doctors of Physical Therapy. The approach to pain and poorly functioning body parts is thorough, unique and highly effective. I already knew tons about muscle function, but they have taught me plenty more. I also appreciate the short videos that remind me the proper technique for my home exercises. Experiencia fantástica: I started experiencing shoulder pain and chronic headaches 11 years ago, which kept me from running, hiking, or working out without pain. (How frustrating that my shoulder was stopping me from running !) I bounced from doctor to doctor and PT to PT, but no one could provide a clear diagnosis, let alone eliminate the pain. Over the years, I found temporary relief with dry needling, PT, cupping, chiropractic care, and medication. But the pain always returned, and eventually, I stopped responding to the treatments that had worked in the past. As a physical therapist myself, I was incredibly frustrated that I couldn’t figure this out on my own. I started to believe, “Maybe it’s just me, I’m the outlier who will never get better.” I often felt dismissed by the medical system because I was young, strong, and healthy. I was repeatedly told to “just keep strengthening,” but no one followed up when that didn’t help. My pain stayed the same. In addition to my shoulder pain, I’ve had chronic low back pain since I was 14. As a dancer, I was told it was “normal,” so I ignored it and assumed everyone had back pain. It wasn’t until my early 20s that I realized that shouldn’t be considered normal and I needed to stop accepting it as such. My shoulder always took priority, so I just learned to live with the back pain, not wanting to feel like a burden to my providers with multiple issues. Eventually, I gave up hope that my shoulder and back would ever feel better. Living with constant pain seemed easier than enduring yet another failed treatment. (Anyone reading this who’s been there knows how mentally draining it can be.) But after seeing the results DPT had with other patients, I decided to give myself one last chance. I’m so glad I did. I started working with Dr. Tom, and he connected the dots between the dysfunction in my shoulder and back and treated both together. I was hesitant to hope again. It was hard to imagine holding my nephew for more than 20 minutes without pain, or working out, lifting, or running without paying for it the next day. But after just a few treatments with Dr. Tom, I finally began to feel like it was possible to imagine a pain-free day and I started to hope again and imagine the possibility of standing, lifting, hiking, and running pain free. 2 months ago I ran my first mile in 10 years with no pain and then in June, I hiked Rim to Rim at the Grand Canyon (an accomplishment I never would have dreamed of without pain)! A year ago, I couldn’t have imagined completing that hike without shoulder pain from the backpack or back pain from standing for hours. For the first time in 10 years, I feel confident that I can live the next 10 years free from chronic pain and keep pushing myself physically to experience the adventures I love.

I was looking for an alternative to back surgery. I met with the team, Dr Lance and Dr Taylor, and they came up with a treatment plan to address my issues. Each appointment progress was measured, implemented course correction if needed, kept me accountable to the plan, and as a result, I am now pain free. I was on my way to getting hip surgery when I came upon their website. I immediately felt understood. When I went to my first visit with Dr. Taylor, she made me feel like I wasn't crazy--I had been dismissed by SO many doctors. She was so thorough and really educated me. Dr. Taylor and Dr. Kevin worked with me and I can now proudly say that most of my pain is gone and I FINALLY have mobility! I had a 14 year career as a medical sales rep and this is the first medical place that was just flat out honest about the Medical profession like I know it. My back pain is gone, the instruction was great from every single person there, No matter how long they had been there. I highly recommend this team of professionals to solve your pain just like they did mine.

I felt supported from the moment I started and even after finishing treatment, as they have made attempts to make sure I’m still seeing positive results even a month after completing my plan with them. He was able to address my issue in ways I’d never heard of before and teach me how to stay safe and pain free in the gym. Experiencia fantástica: Following a complex Achilles repair and infections my mobility was limited and my surgeon told me I may never get back to full activities again. DPT helped go beyond the Achilles recovery that insurance would cover to be able to fix over imbalances that has helped accelerate my return to working out and running. Warm and friendly staff all around, and does a great job explaining everything in detail.

Experiencia fantástica: I am so glad I found Doctors of Physical Therapy. I went to them for my plantar fasciitis but also worked with them for a past shoulder pulled out of socket. The shockwave therapy really helped my heel feel much better. Everyone that I worked with there was amazing - Drs Tom, Lance, and Kevin. I have had PT in other areas and the way they work here is superior to others. One thing that was especially helpful to me is the fact that I can access the exercises that they assign me on my phone or laptop. It really helped to make my at-home sessions easier to accomplish. I highly recommend them all!

Experiencia fantástica: I came to Dr Tom and his team in February 2025 because of a tremendous amount of hip and ankle stiffness that was causing a lot of discomfort at the hip feeling like it was coming out of place or something when I’d stand up after sitting for extended periods of time. After a lot of intense deep hip work and calf mobility and front shin/ankle strengthening my ankle went from 10 degrees range of motion to 18-20 degrees which is great according to the team! Squats and forward bending is going a lot smoother too. Additionally a bonus I didn’t think about when I started that I saw happening is I now feel confident in a weight room where I’m not guessing at what I should be doing on any day. I keep up the hip and ankle work because there’s a lot of work to be done there. My time with Dr Tom and Dr Lance helped kickstart the journey more than I could’ve done on my own. Don’t live with stiffness people. Why do you want to wait for major pain? Experiencia fantástica: I went to approximately 8 sessions over the 8 weeks leading up the Cocodona 250, a 256 mile ultramarathon. They were able to effectively diagnose some issues and weaknesses and develop exercises for me to improve over a short period of time. I'm happy to report i was able to finish the race!

I am an active 66-year-old and had no intention of looking at surgery until I had exhausted every other possibility. Experiencia fantástica: After seeing Dr Taylor for my discovery visit, Dr Tom in the first two weeks, and Dr Lance not only is my hip and ankle responding positively and not giving me nagging stiffness to stretch out after sitting for more than an hour in the day but something I didn’t expect happened. I now feel confident walking into a weightroom and know what I should work on vs trying to dabble in a little lower and a little upper body and not knowing what to really focus on. Plus, I’ve got off the hamster wheel of comparing myself and listening to fitness influencers online. Experiencia fantástica: I started with DPT Scottsdale in October. I initially went in for a back and foot issue. They helped me to understand that a big source of these pains came from a hip problem and how all these areas work together. I did weekly appointments learning more about how the body works and exercises that help bring everything into alignment. The atmosphere is welcoming and the doctors made sure you understood the exercises but also the why it helps. I enjoyed my sessions and learned a lot. I’ve referred my sister and she is feeling the benefits also. I’ve never believed PT works but working closely with the doctors I have a new respect for PT.

Experiencia fantástica: I went to DPT for a couple different reasons: 1) my old stand-by of needling to do a hard reset was no longer effective, and 2) I wanted to get to the root of the problem. I went in for the free assessment and was blown away by Dr. Taylor. Her assessments of my hips/glutes screamed what the problems were and I was surprised to learn the root cause: several of the smaller glute/pelvic muscles had shut down and my back was taking over, trying to 'help'. I love the fact that as a patient, we only see DPTs and are not handed off to techs. Every week I had different questions and requests for modifications and Dr. Taylor never hesitated. Exercises progressed at an appropriate pace. Here's the thing about physical therapy: it is truly collaborative. If you are only looking to feel good while your are in therapy then PT, in general, is not for you. As a patient, one must continue with the prescribed exercises long term or return to square one and all the pain that you originally came to relieve. I cannot recommend DTP strongly enough. Well worth the time, effort, and financial commitment to living pain free!

Experiencia fantástica: I am so grateful for the help I have received at DPT that I am upset with myself for not coming sooner. My brother-in-law referred me here years ago and I dragged my feet about it because I live in MN, but traveling to AZ for 10 days to start care with Dr. Taylor at DPT has been life changing. I have had chronic neck and back pain since I was a little kid and it just got progressively worse with time. I herniated a disc in my neck 6 months ago. I have seen so many doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, and massage therapists over the years and some of these treatments helped a little bit, but no one could find the source of my problem and no treatments were long-lasting until I came to see Dr. Taylor. She diagnosed me with severe hypermobility and on my initial consult, listened carefully to my history, did an extremely thorough physical exam, and diagnosed the problem of joint subluxation in my pelvis at the first visit. I have been seeing her virtually since traveling back home to MN and have been pleasantly surprised that seeing her through telemedicine has not been a barrier to getting good care. She has taught me how to adjust my joints back in place on my own, helped me strengthen my shoulders so that for the first time in my life I have virtually NO pain!!, and is helping me manage my low back pain and hypermobility moving forward. I am getting better all the time. Ultimately, Dr. Taylor's care has been life-changing for me and the things that she has taught me to manage my problems should last a lifetime. Stop pushing it off and just get on the books with them!

Experiencia fantástica: This is a truly different physical therapy practice. I won’t repeat what you can read on their website but will say that they are committed to making you feel better and regain whatever function you’ve lost. They have seemingly endless variations to the exercises they want you to do, to tailor them to where you are in recovery while still having you do the movements that will make you stronger. The staff is unfailingly friendly and welcoming. I have been discouraged with PT a number of times before but I’m feeling encouraged and hopeful with DPT.

Experiencia fantástica: Had many deep tissue massages that never provided the type of pain relief I was looking for. That has not been the case working with Jen Velez. Seen a great deal of pain relief, and mobility increases since our first session! Also, Dr. Kevin was extremely knowledgeable in helping me accomplish a specific goal. I’m a former athlete, with a lot of experience in training/rehab techniques. Dr. Kevin was able to show me quite a few exercises that I wasn’t familiar with, and they have been a game changer! Experiencia fantástica: The Doctors of Physical Therapy consistently provide excellent clinical skills and individualized care. Dr. Tom has been treating my “frozen” shoulder since January, 2025. Initially, I was hesitant and not very trusting due to the previous PT I received in Florida, which worsened my condition. Chronic pain took the fun out of my life. I could no longer engage in all the physical activities I previously did. It also turned me into a very guarded person by constantly trying to protect my shoulder. However, Dr. Tom completely gained my trust as he tailored each session based on my physical ability and pain tolerance. As a result, I now push myself a little harder with Dr. Tom’s encouragement and I have made steady gains. Furthermore, the use of regenerative treatment options supported and facilitated the healing process to increase shoulder range of motion and REDUCE CHRONIC PAIN. On pain pills and nerve blockers Today I’m getting ready to ween off my meds walking better. I had a lot of mid back pain for years stopped me from enjoying golf, (been to doctors, physical therapists). Nothing helped Then I met Dr. Tom and his staff , WOW they really care, explained to me what the muscle groups in the body we’re doing , what needed to be addressed , and how to get back on track with certain exercises that needed to be done , They are just the best and brilliant with their knowledge of the human body and movement patterns . most physical therapy places you’re a number, not here they really care about you the person and to get you better without meds or surgery. I had tried home remedies and chiropractor visits beforehand, but nothing compared to the treatment I received here! Dr. Kevin was my primary doctor, but I also worked with Dr. Taylor, Dr. Tom, Beth, and Amber. I genuinely cannot write a good enough review for them. Dr. Kevin was able to realign me and teach me exactly why my body was hurting and how to correct it. He also created a realistic plan for me to implement at home so that if I was hurting at any point between appointments I could strengthen the area as well as realign myself! He has been treating my knee and arm. They are so friendly and hospitable every time I visit. Dr. Tom creates that positive and caring environment. They just don’t treat the pain but get to the root cause. I even took advantage of the massage in house as well. They are so good my husband also started coming to get treated. I came to DPT after blowing out a disc in my lower back that was affecting my left hip. My wife and adult son both recommended them, as I was in a lot of pain. With DPT’s guidance in conjunction with a pain management specialist, I am back to normal and able to enjoy my life again.

I needed to find a way to treat the reason why I have to sleep with a million pillows and take Aleve for my recurring neck pain. I am so glad I did! After only one hour of evaluation and exercises with Dr. Tom we unearthed some of the cause was actually in my hip! Before I left, I was able to touch not only my toes but the floor (which by the way I've NEVER been able to do!). I would have never found the cause of my pain on my own! I had been referred to DPT after having severe nerve pain affect my daily living & had gone through a variety of specialists without finding a cause or a solution. From my initial evaluation, Dr. Tom was able to identify my hip misalignment that had never been evaluated or addressed prior. From there I was guided on movements and exercises (to do and to avoid) to correct my rotation & misalignment from Dr. Tyler to help alleviate my nerve pain. Each appointment I had with Dr. Tyler was hands on and always addressing how the assigned exercises made me feel to determine any adjustments along the way. He helped me with other areas of my body that had tightened and added exercises to address those areas as well. Walking in the front door of DPT nearly 3 months ago I could hardly put on my socks and shoes due to severe sciatica on my right side. Today, I bend over with ease and the sciatica is gone. Wow! Experiencia fantástica: I've been doing physical therapy here for the past few months and have experienced dramatic changes to my knee pain. I was extremely impressed with this office since day 1. Dr. Tyler's evaluation was extremely comprehensive and educational. I had completed evaluations with other offices prior and their testing was not nearly as thorough. Dr. Tyler developed a plan that was very individualized and targeted to me and my body. Since starting PT in the beginning of July, I've not only been able to correct my imbalances, improve my flexibility, get rid of my knee pain, but get back on track to regaining my pre-injury strength and move my body without fear of pain. I worked with Dr. Tyler (and occasionally Dr. Zak) and I could not recommend them enough. They're so kind, extremely knowledgeable, and genuinely care about making you feel better. Experiencia fantástica: I would give 10 stars if I could. I’ve had a back issues for nearly 40 years. It flares up, I go through rest, massage then therapy until it resolves only to repeat the cycle several times a year. Instead of treating the symptoms, DPT looked at the causes of my back pain and began a program of mobility and strengthening, which has, in a short period of time, made my back better than it’s ever been. Their knowledge, hands on treatment and can do attitude leave all my prior treatments in the dust. Quite simply, if you want to get better, go see the team at DPT!

Experiencia fantástica: L4/L5 herniated and I had severe nerve pain down my leg. I tried everything to help the pain including physical therapy somewhere else but nothing helped. I had no choice but to schedule back surgery and luckily I was able to cancel surgery after two weeks of seeing a neurological chiropractor. After completing chiropractic treatments the severe pain was gone but I still had bad flare ups and some nerve pain left in my calf/hip. My pelvis was still slanted to one side and I had to move with caution. I couldn’t workout without hurting myself even more. I was skeptical when I started working with Tyler at DPT because physical therapy didn’t help me before but it was the best decision! I’m 100% better now and I’m back to working out without hurting myself. My pelvis is aligned and I’m in no pain at all anymore. Tyler really knows what he’s doing. Highly recommend DPT to anyone.

Being a personal trainer and competitive power lifter, I have worked with and sent many of my clients to numerous physical therapists. DPT is by far the best PT’s we have ever used. I had back pain that would have me debilitated on the floor for 5 + minutes after doing basic movements such as hip thrust or lunges. After 5 sessions with DPT, my back pain is pretty much gone and I’m squatting 405lbs again. Not only have they done wonders for me, but they have done wonders for all my clients as well. Experiencia fantástica: I’m 41 years old and 6 years ago I injured my back doing CrossFit. I bulged and tore my lower discs and was in daily plan. I tried everything, or so I thought. I went to corporate approved PT (which was useless, I felt like just a number), Stem Cell clinics, PRP clinics and then got desperate and started looking at surgery. Surgeons said I was too young and to just “deal with the pain”. Every time I went to pick up my 2 year old I was so worried I was going to throw out my back and be down for days. At 41 I thought “was this my life now?” I can’t tell you how lucky I am that I found them at DPT. My goal was simply to be able to pickup my Son and hold him and not walk around in daily pain. From the time I walked in, I felt like I was heard. They spent 90 minutes (multiple doctors) asking me questions and truly listened to my background. I signed up for their 10 pack that had massage, EMTT and shockwave therapy. My first visit I was skeptical walking in but after my first visit with Dr. Tyler my pain reduced from a 8 down to 2. Every visit there after I got better and better with a prescribed recovery plan. I stand here today pain free and running my first 1/2 marathon in 3 weeks. Experiencia fantástica: For the past year I have been living with pelvic/back/leg dysfunction and have almost given up hope I would be able to walk “normal” without the sensation of weakness and my right leg buckling. The journey to find a definitive diagnosis has been long and frustrating. Visits to my primary care physician (PCP), three neurologists, orthopedic surgeon, physical therapist, chiropractor, acupuncturist, and a whole slew of tests with the hope that a definitive diagnose would be found. All tests came back “normal”, this was good news/bad news; while the results eliminated some serious medical conditions I was frustrated that nothing was detected as the root cause of my issues. For one year the emotional roller coaster was all consuming; would a diagnosis ever be found? Is this my new normal? In June 2024 I saw a massage therapist for severe muscle tension; after working on my back, pelvis, and legs she asked, “have you seen a physical therapist for your issues? I know of a clinic that might be able to help you, they are The Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPT)”. That same day I did some research on DPT and read the patient stories, reviews, and about Dr. Tom Padilla and his philosophy for treating patients who have almost given up hope. DPT offered a complimentary Discovery Consultation to determine if they can help address my issues; during the consultation, Dr. Tom and Dr. Tyler were able to pinpoint the probable cause of my pelvic/back/leg problems through some mobility, strength, and functional tests. Finally a definitive diagnosis! Within a few days I had a comprehensive examination, an explanation of the plan of care designed to help me address my condition, and was prescribed exercises to do at home. I walked out of the clinic with renewed hope. Current state: I just completed eight of twelve treatments and have made noticeable improvements in my ability to walk without any weaknesses in my pelvic region or leg. The sensation of my leg buckling is now sporadic rather than constant. The weakness still pops up but not on a daily basis. DPT’s plan of care approach includes a constant process of checks and balances. The simple yet effective “treat and verify” philosophy using comparative testing each visit gives me confidence of my treatment and a means of evaluating progress. Additionally, I appreciate the therapist being side-by-side with me for my entire session; never have I been told to do an exercise and be left alone while the therapist attends to another patient. This has been a stark contrast from my previous experience with other Physical Therapy clinics; each time I had to share my PT time with 2-3 other patients. Of course, this left me knowing my one hour PT session would only amount to about 15-20 mins of one-on-one time if I was lucky. Needless to say, I stopped those sessions short of what was required. Finally, the entire DPT staff is by far the best in class. From the first time I spoke with Amber to schedule my discovery consultation and each time I am treated, I have felt welcomed, comfortable, and confident with the treatment/exercises. If you are frustrated with your symptoms being treated and not knowing the root cause of your problem, try The Doctors of Physical Therapy, it has made a world of difference for me.

Experiencia fantástica: I started my journey with DPT after vertigo and chronic tension headaches became an every day struggle. I had become sedentary and my formerly athletic build was weak. My initial consult with Dr. Tom was very insightful, he listened to my concerns and performed muscle/ strength testing that day, then provided detailed anatomical explanation for the cause of my concerns as well as targeted treatment goals. I spent a wonderful 12 sessions with the therapists at DPT and am so pleased with results. I loved that I rotated with each therapist for my 1:1 full hour session. There was constant tweaking of my at home exercises and helpful feedback to improve my form. New location is great. Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Zak at DPT has been great! My husband had been seeing him for a while and had great results with his back issues, so he encouraged me to go. I’ve had pain in my right big toe and foot when walking for 5-6 years. A podiatrist had told me about a year into it that it was arthritis and all I could do was use pain relievers and inevitably get surgery when the toe locked up. Over the past year, my whole right side from the low back to my toe had become very tight and sometimes painful. It was to the point that when getting up after sitting, getting out of the car after driving, or walking or standing too long, I would have to limp the right leg along for a while because my hip and side of the leg felt locked up and the toe felt painfully jammed. After my first appointment with Dr. Zak, there was already noticeable improvement and relief, and I have not had my right side lock up anymore. I’ve been working with him for about 4 weeks and am very happy with the progress I’ve made so far. Dr. Zak takes time to listen, fully understand the problem, and explain the possible causes. I do not feel like a number or like I’m being given a general pre-set list of exercises. Dr. Zak is very knowledgeable and takes the time to find the root of the problem and adjust the PT to your specific needs. The DPT office is clean and inviting, and everyone at the front desk has been friendly and helpful. I was very reluctant to try this at first, but it has been worth it!

Over our 15 sessions my spine got straightened out, my core and back started firing right, and we got my hips working correctly which solved the knee pain I have been fighting for years. It took a lot of work and Zak was a great coach to make sure I was on the right path. Now, I feel very connected to my movements and understand how the smallest thing make can make a major impact. The feeling of exercising with correct movements and the ability to give max effort without worry is amazing. I would see him every week if I could.

Experiencia fantástica: In December of 2023, I had reached the point where I could hardly stand or walk because my right hip had become dysfunctional. I decided to try Physical Therapy with EMTT, a technology that few PT doctors have. That led me to Dr. Tom for an assessment, which coincidently, matched the diagnosis and exam from a well known Neurologist that I had received earlier that fall. As a healthcare CEO myself, I was impressed with Dr. Tom's knowledge and confidence that they could restore full function and eliminate the constant pain in my hip. I was dubious to say the least. But we decided on a 10 visit regimen of physical therapy augmented by EMTT. Although the PT was difficult, the EMTT was easy and an effective addition. Within 2 visits I noticed a significant improvement and by the 5th visit I was walking and standing normally without pain. Now it's just a matter of continuing the strengthening exercises at home to restore my ability to actually climb stairs or hike trails, which I'm not doing successfully without pain. Frankly, I cannot believe the level of improvement given that I was practically disabled from the hip dysfunction. Dr. Tom and his team know what they are doing but you will also have to do your part to achieve an excellent outcome. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate them a 10. It's quite unlike any other PTs I have been too...and I have been to many over the years. Her detailed session measurements are a "real" way to quantify the work and the solutions. It's never something I have seen before. Normally you are shown and exercise - then stuck on a machine to do it and then rotated to your next exercise . NOT here! if the outcome is not quite as planned, it's a calculated adjustment - measurements taken, and then a new plan implemented. I love it! I also love that they are hands on with your muscle movements and adjustments. I like that your practitioner is changed part way thought your treatment plan and Tom ( The owner - head DoPT) does an assessment as well, so that a fresh perspective will add to your treatment plan. Best experience at a PT! BY FAR.

Worked with all 3 Dr's (Tom, Tyler and Taylor) on the rehab and there level of professionalism and knowledge was exceptional. I had torn my rotator cuff about 8 months prior and tried many exercises unsuccessfully prior to DPT. As I am a part timer in Arizona the video remote appointment worked well to keep my rehab moving forward when I was not here. I would highly recommend DPT for any physical therapy, there ultimate goal is to get all client issues sorted.

Experiencia fantástica: Best PT in the business & best decision I’ve ever made for my long term health and wellbeing. Came in with a separated shoulder (Grade III) not being able to do any chest, shoulder, or arm lifts without intense pain. After only a couple months of treatment, I not only was able to perform those lifts again, but also gained a deep understanding of how to properly engage through the shoulder and core to avoid any further injury or overcompensation by the surrounding muscles. Experiencia fantástica: Found this clinic on the internet, browsed through AZ physical therapists, looking for a solution to my crippledness, at only 60. What had happened, how did I get here. Two or three ortopedists over the years had told me I needed knee surgery. I just did not want to address this situation. Could not sit and get up from the toilet, getting up from a chair I looked like the octopus in the sea, all over the place. At DPT Dr. TOM actually told me what was wrong with me and a path to reverse my condition. No drugs, no infiltration, no surgery. But all the right moves, the tailored exercises for me. I go to the gym and watch the people on the floor mats, I do my physical therapy exercises there. It is very important to know that the therapy is for my problem, I watch videos on ytube too, but I am aware that every person is different. Today I completed by 7th session, also doing the EMTT machine. I am super happy, are doing my part of course, following up on the homework exercise at home or at the gym.
