The planning, organization, and attention to detail that went into the tours did not go unnoticed. Experiencia positiva: I was there for two weeks after surgery. I had no idea what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Three hours of therapy each day was managed very well. I got stronger each day while hardly realizing it. Every single therapist was wonderful. Every single nurse was fantastic and very caring. Some of the nurse techs were wonderful, while some were not...they were just putting in their time. I never had to wait long for help, though. I thought the food was great. Occasional late meals could cause a problem, but for the most part it was fine. I certainly had a better variety than I fix for myself at home. And everything was always very clean. Overall I'd give this place 90 out of 100.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been a student here and find it to be a great rehab hospital. The staff are all very kind and helpful. The staff meet all the patients needs. The therapy staff are all great and work towards each patient’s different needs.

Experiencia negativa: I was not expecting to go to rehabilitation after my surgery, but after working with the pt and ot people I realized I benefited greatly from their knowledge. The pt, ot professionals, a few of the traveling nurses, 2 cna's and my case manager were GREAT. My case manager had to have the wound nurse add wrapping to the rewrap she did because she left the pin in my toe sticking out of the bandage. My husband heard one of the cna's who had come to assist me to the bathroom say " I don't know why I came to work today I was having such a great day". I had to send my husband to get me something to eat on numerous occasions because I couldn't even look at what was being served let alone eat it. My cpap machine was never cleaned - I was there for 12 days.

Experiencia negativa: I was told I would be able to stay as long as I needed, and they had me leave after 8 days. So basically they sold me a bed to help fill the empty ones. They told me what I wanted to hear and it was all a lie. My medications were a mess I’m on a schedule they were never on time. It takes techs to much time to get to the rooms to use restroom but they put alarms on the bed and wheel chair I finally started to get up and let the alarm go off. A lot of the techs wreaked of cigarettes. Don’t bring anything of value like a purse because the techs go through them. The physical therapist are about the only good thing this place has going for them. I was extremely happy with every therapist I encountered. Very clean place .. the food has gone downhill since the last time I was there. It’s always late so you have to rush and eat for therapy.

Experiencia fantástica: Last month, January 2025, I spent 8 days at Encompass after a complete shoulder replacement. The first thing I noticed was the cleanliness of this facility. The staff was wonderful. I met everyone from the CEO to the maintenance manager to the head chef. The OT and PT teams were fabulous and had great humor and compassion. They were tough, but kind. The nurses and doctors were the best. I have not one complaint to make. Did I like being there? No. Did I want to go home? Yes. But the team made me realize that my healing was a process as was my learning how to SAFELY take care of myself. As an independent overachiever, this was hard. But I knew I had to do what they told me to get home and stay home safely. And that's what I did. I have decided not to list the names of all of the people who helped me for fear I will leave out someone or misspell a name. I was on drugs, after all! But I did have my favorites. You haven't lived until you and your physical therapist have walked the hospital halls clucking, mooing, and barking. Hey, I'm 74, I still love to play. Just ask my granddaughter. Last, just so everyone I didn't name will recognize me, I am the queen of the therapy gym! I spelled supercalifragilisticexpialidocious for my favorite OT and got it right. Like I said, the queen of the gym! Thank you, Encompass. Because of you, I'm home and doing better than expected.

But the staff has been wonderful.the the therapists are supreme especially Dayton who took very good care off me. He listened when I had a lot of pain in arm and shoulder He wanted to know where my paid was. They do not know how to take care of patients With shoulder surgery I had to put my own compression sock on oh they are thigh high Doris

Experiencia negativa: Been treated better than at a McDonalds drive through. When I brought up areas of concerns, they were irritated. Their answer was to bar me from the hospital. I made no fuss, no muss, questions only and that irritated after the 3 rd time in less than 10 days I was told leave and not return. So like a big corp they got rid of me instead of the problems they had. The patient had meds missed or not properly coordinate with first hospital. Next thing clothes went missing which I told them about and they were made.I know they were stolen. I went through dirty laundry and they weren’t in dirty laundry. So don’t bring anything nice.. When I asked about missed meds upon day of admission, I was told “there is nothing I can do about” in a very disrespectful manner. It seemed obvious they were understaffed and under trained. As a result, it work against the patient. When I would bring these things up staff, then I was accused of being rude and abusive to staff. They later would confront me about this in room of the patient which was horribly unprofessional and upset patient. They act like a bunch of bullies when I made inquiries. If you dare to challenge them, they’ll start harassing you for asking such questions. They lock you in the building at a certain hour- felt like a prison and inconsistent with a place to make you healthy. They keep a list of visitors that is visible to anyone, so so much for HIPPA or privacy. Seems engrained into employee the idea of “image”… all about image and less important to help patient or their support people. Rarely saw staff wash their hands either. Good luck if this is your only choice, because you can’t stay after 8pm. You have to leave, so anyone can do anything to a patient. Place has a real weird feeling to it and was super unwelcoming me. When it came to caring for patient, it seemed like the main goal was just to check something of the list for Medicare without consideration for patient. Big commercial interested in bottom line-not patient care.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a very bad fracture of my left femur and unable to put any weight on it. I was concerned about being able to do any therapy on it. The staff were excellent in working with me and bringing me along the path of healing. Everything about this facility was top notch in my experience. Home now with more work to do but they certainly got me started down the right path.

Experiencia fantástica: I came after breaking my ankle at Avera. I was concerned with the three hours a day. I decided best place for me to meet my goal faster of getting on the knee scooter. Im glad I did! The therapist's are incredible. They push you in a nice way. The facility is amazing. They have many options available for therapy. They all had incredible attitudes which made the individual sessions go faster and the group enjoyable. The nurse's were kind and compassionate as well as the technicians. In my opinion they need more of both which is the only negative I could find. The case manager developed a plan with me and worked towards making sure I'd get the continuous care needed when home. The food was tasty. Generally you had a couple of options to chose from. I was here for 9 days.

No meds, no instructions on care, casework ignore calls, and no better condition then when she arrived. then lies and tells us she can stand and pivot when she isn’t. Got called she needs to be picked up. Now have to try to get a hospital to listen as they told us that.

My therapy was done by trained expert therapists whose help and encouragement allowed me to go from no mobility to return to my home with my mobility restored to where I was before being hospitalized. This is an excellent hospital with great staff!!

Our Mom had a stroke there, not sure how long it went on before anyone noticed. Did not know how to work with a stroke victim. Terrible treatment of patients. I would never bring anyone I cared about here.

Experiencia negativa: I cannot even tell you what a bad experience my BIL had here. The food was delivered at 5pm and he did not get his tray until nearly 2 hours later. Short staffed is an exaggeration! Nearly no one works here. Only people you see are management and heaven forbid they pick up and help. Therapy is amazing however. So if you want great therapy and cold food this is the place for you!

Experiencia negativa: I was a patient at this hospital for a short time after landing in the ICU with Covid-19. I had chosen to come here for a few reasons. In short in was a bad decision. Short staffed is an understatement. The nursing staff has no compassion. I know that is now a staple of the healthcare system in the US, but Encompass of Sioux Falls takes this to a whole new level. First, promises made of these miraculous recoveries just by choosing Encompass was not at all true. Complaining about my stay to a compliance officer yielding no results. An example: supper was at 5:00pm, I would wait upwards of 1 to 1.5 hours for my food. It was cold. Asking for it to be reheated was an endeavour that could not be accomplished. Nursing staff was nonexistence. Call light response was between 30-45 minutes long. I know that the state has had to come multiply times for complaints. I choose Encompass to avoid going to a nursing home. But this is a nursing home. The state of the art, blah, blah, blah is just that. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. I am reading the reviews here online and see that all the management team wrote a review on the same day, likely the same time… that is telling isn’t it? The only people that have the confidence in Encompass are those that get paid to be there. It’s almost as if their entire job depends on it. And us regular folks who pay to be there, we write the real reviews. Remember that. I don’t think Encompass is any better than Good Sam, Bethany, Avera, Sanford, or others. I just assumed as a young man I should choose a place that didn’t feel like a nursing home, but I was wrong. Having worked in LTC, I would have faired better off going to my LTC facility than this “rehab” hospital. I would say choose another facility. There are many nursing homes in town that offer the same recovery services and at least the staff cares.

Experiencia fantástica: I just started here and WOW! Excellent, detailed onboarding. I received lots of info about the company and got to meet all the staff! And the staff is top notch, they hire the best of the best! I feel like I can ask questions freely and make errors. One thing that sticks in my mind from orientation is being able to make mistakes, admit and move on, but being supported through it all. I love that this company reacts this way. The perks are definitely there as well: beautiful new building, great safety measures, a Leadership Team that goes on the floor daily to talk to the patients, and the never ending supply of tokens of appreciation (smiles, positive energy, treats, pop, candy, snacks) plus an employee recognition program that is generous and easy to use! I could go on and on! I am so happy to have the privilege to work here! If I ever have a family member or myself who needs Rehab, this would be the first place I would go to get top notch care!
