Experiencia negativa: The "care staff" doesn't do their job. My father is here, they turn off the call light when he needs to go to the bathroom, no one returned for at least 10 minutes. Now still waiting..... Seriously?!!!

Experiencia negativa: My mom needed to go to rehab from the hospital. Pomeroy accepted her, she took a Covid test and we had the ride paid for. At the last minute the facility said they would not accept my mom if she would need chemotherapy for her cancer treatments at any time in the future! This is criminal and discriminatory! I'm glad she didn't go there if these are the types of people who would be in charge of her care. It's all about the money. So sad. The care of the patient and human life is nothing to this facility! I would have given 0 stars if that was an option!
Lisa, we sincerely apologize that the intake process has not been a pleasant experience for you and your family. We would never turn your mother away for ill or “discriminatory” reasons. However, We are not clinically qualified to be able to care for her and provide the treatment that she would require, and that would be a disservice to her. When your mother was presented to us to join our community, we did drop the ball in not being fully aware of the care she required and unfortunately, we had to decline before it was too late because we are not equipped to care for her needs. Again, we are very sorry and wish your family the very best.
Experiencia negativa: If you have to take your loved ones here, be prepared to tell everyone how to do their job. And even when you do, be prepared for them to do a the BARE MINIMUM. My Mom had to go here after the hospital and she only had a stage 2 wound and now she has a 4 wound from being there.

Experiencia negativa: Please do not send your loved ones here. This place is neglectful in every sense of the word. Someone close to me was at this facility and died due to negligence. Staff here ignore doctor’s orders, leave people in soiled briefs, and write fake good reviews on this place. I saw a review stating “no place is perfect” but a place intended to take care of people and help them rehabilitate should be pretty close to perfect. I firmly believe this place and its staff need to be investigated and held accountable for the role they played in a loved one’s death. If you care about your family, do not send them here. The staff will stop their rehabilitation, neglect them until they die, and then try to cover it up with good reviews and blocking people on social media.

Experiencia negativa: Disgusting and neglectful. My dad was constantly left in soiled briefs for far too long. Even after pressing the call light for him to be changed it took forever for someone to come. They don’t listen to doctor’s orders and will gaslight you about any concerns you have. My dad was regularly falling out of his wheelchair on their watch and they even went as far as to say he was doing it on purpose. They go far too long without having their eyes on the residents this place is a death sentence. My dad was NPO meaning nothing by mouth, tube fed only due to swallowing issues. We had MULTIPLE issues with either a CNA giving him a cup of water or a roommate giving him their drink. It is very clear this place is not equipped to deal with tube fed residents. When my dad started showing signs of illness they brushed it off saying they assumed he had whatever illness was going around the facility instead of ruling out anything serious first. He died of an unnoticed infection because of this facility. Edit: after my review was posted they posted fake five star reviews from staff. That should tell you all you need to know about the standards of this facility.
Experiencia fantástica: Xavier is very officiant, responsive and always knows what I need before I need it. He is a very good caretaker. The faculty have great staff that are attentive and making sure my stay here is a good one. Urmi makes sure I am active and always cheers me up when coming to visit. Kelly is terrific and really knows her stuff, always shows care when she treats me. Eugene always solves the problems I have with no hesitation. All in all it’s a good faculty, no place is perfect but they do there best to take care of me with the amount of people they have to take care of. Be patient with the staff sometimes it may take awhile but they have others to take care of.

Experiencia fantástica: Great staffing, my grandmother received great care. I met with the Administrator and DON and they were very nice, always there. I don’t know how they take care of so many demands at one time. But I appreciate their efforts. Please be kind to the staff. I’ve seen some unreasonable patients and families, if we are not kind to those taking care of our loved ones we will have no one left to do so.

Experiencia fantástica: It’s taken me some time to write this review, but after seeing the horrible ones I want to share that no facility is perfect, but I couldn’t have placed my mom in a more caring facility with the best staff she’s experienced. I almost didn’t send her because of the one off view points, but I encourage you all to experience the staff for yourself. They truly love what they do and it shows. If ever needed she will be back and she loved Tyler.

Experiencia negativa: AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Multiple times we had to beg nursing staff to do the bare minimum for my dad. There would be times where I would hit the call light for my father, and it would be easily 45 minutes before anyone would come, if at all. Refused to do rehab with my father after just a month, and continued to charge insurance for it. Not even two weeks into being moved into long term care, father passed away in their care. If you care about your loved one, avoid this place at all costs.
Experiencia fantástica: My mother, who is 91 and suffered a hip fracture and confusion is staying here right now. Its only been a few days but I want to say how attentive and friendly everyone has been. It's a very difficult job and they are not given enough credit and praise. If anything changes I will adjust my review but as for now I am grateful and secure in having my mother's treatment here. I have read some of the other reviews and some of their concerns may be valid because we have had family stay with my mother the entire time. But as of now the only complaints are the food. My mother wont touch it and after the delicious food at Henry Ford hospital it's difficult to live up to. So we have bewn bringing her food. The place seems really clean and have not encountered anything to worry over. I will update if needed. Thank you staff for all of your hard work and patience. ✌️❤️

Experiencia negativa: This is a fine establishment if you have a slow and painful death wish. Call lights average 3 hours to be answered just as you will receive your scheduled dose of pain meds 3 hours late. Can’t get to the bathroom? Bundle up because it’s going to be a cold night of shivering in your urine soaked bed until morning. Eventually they’ll throw you in a dry hospital gown only to put you right back into your unchanged, still-soaked bed (photo for reference) Personal bedpans? In this economy?! Absolutely not. You and your roommate will be sharing one. Need an ultrasound to rule out a blood clot in your leg? You’ll be treated like you have dementia and told the study was performed. When your family asks to see the report, surprise! They can’t find it. The study will have to be “repeated.” Be prepared for visiting family members to have to shower you, change your clothes, change your bed, and bring you edible food. They’ll be responsible for more duties than the staff who clocks in. Don’t bother expressing your concerns to management. You will be met with gaslighting backed up by false documentation of care. Request to be discharged and they’ll play the “AMA” card to try to scare you into staying. You think the social worker will have your back? Wrong again. She’s more like the final mob boss you get to deal with. Your requests for DME for home will be met with allegations of insurance denials that don’t exist because orders were never actually sent. They won’t provide adequate care under their roof so it’s no surprise they won’t do anything to ensure you’re supported at home. All of this to say, if you love someone, never put them in this establishment.
Experiencia fantástica: My mother was in long term care for 8 years at Pomeroy. Our experience was great. Very caring staff. I’m not going to mention names because I know I’ll forget some important people. Mom was on Saint Clair for most of her stay and the staff was exceptional. The Covid nightmare was handled by the staff like the professionals they are. We never doubted that Mom was being taken care of very well. Those that worked through this are true Rockstars. Experiencia negativa: Medical care is not good. Especially if you need extra care and attention. Let's patients lay in soiled underwear. No assistance in feeding at all, just put the tray in front of the patient. Moves patient with no petience that has severe pain. Do not recommend this place of you need extra care. I would find another rehab. I ended up moving my family member to a different rehab.

Experiencia fantástica: My mother was a patient here a month ago and I must say as a healthcare professional myself I was impressed. Building was clean, staff is always friendly, and anytime I had concerns they were addressed promptly. The nurse managers from the DON Eugene, ADON MANNY to the unit managers Lisa were all awesome and very intuitive to my mom’s needs and very compassionate. The administrator Sparkle can always be seen in the halls and will always greet you with a smile! I could not have asked for a better short stay for my mom! All the staff was amazing and I am grateful she ended at up Pomeroy!

Experiencia fantástica: I sent my loved one here after a tour and I must say I’ve been impressed from that day forward. The facility is clean, the Administrator talks to you, the DON is always around and the managers aren’t running away from you like at the last place I put my mom. A completely different experience, it’s not always perfect, but it’s pretty damn close. I must shout out Shahoja, I don’t think I spelled it correctly but my mom talked about how kind she was everyday. Thank you all so very much.

Experiencia negativa: Disappointing first day for my mother. Some of the nursing staff are rude and have horrible attitudes. They also did not seem to read or have access to my mothers discharge information because the dietitian had questions that she should have received answers already from the hospital and the nurses almost attached a wound vac to the wrong wound. Her initial intake nurse took several personal phone calls while doing her examination and was very rude to me, she also disregarded both me and my moms comments on her history of care. I sincerely hope that this is not the treatment that my mother can hope to receive here.

Experiencia fantástica: My mother had suffered from a stroke and aneurysm in December 2023 and was in a bed ridden state after being released from Mclaren Macomb (AWESOME PLACE ALSO). She initially went to a nursing facility in Shelby which was horrific, but in a hidden blessing had to be sent to the hospital again for a surgical procedure. She was in a bed ridden state and Pomeroy Sterling Heights (Feb 2024 - April 2024) was 1 of 3 facilities I did research on and had received an above average rating from multiple research sites (Google, Yelp, various 3rd party home care sites). We were thankfully accepted and received A Class service. We did have a couple of hiccups but No Place is Perfect. The staff, Especially the Nurses and CNAs were SUPERSTARS!!! They deserve Praise and definitely a Raise!!! We would like to give a Shoutout Everyone - Front Desk, Social Services Staff, Custodial Staff, Cafeteria Staff, and Especially the Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapy Team, Nursing Leads (Eugene, Manny, Ray), Kelli the Wound Specialist, Betty the Nutritional Guru and MAINLY the CNAs for their HARD Work and Nurses for Caring for my Mother!! Our Family would recommend Pomeroy Sterling Heights for their Rehabilitation Wing and Staff!!!

Experiencia fantástica: My experience with my mom and Pomeroy was definitely a great experience!! it’s really hard to find a place where it’s clean, where the staff is pleasant, and gave awesome rehabilitation care. Before my mom enter she wasn’t able to pull herself out of bed, but now she can. She developed beginning stages of bed sores at Henry Ford Hospital, when she left Pomeroy, they were completely GONE! From Nurse Manager Ray who stayed on top of everything every step of the way, to the wound nurse Kelly, you rock! The whole Rehab department. Big shout out Mr. Pete! He’s the man! Nurses, Natasha, Brazil, nurse aide Mi Mi, even housekeeping was pleasant, and so many many more, please forgive me as I can’t remember everyone’s name. I just want to thank all the love and care that was shown and given to my mom the weeks she was there. If she ever has to return, which I pray she doesn’t, but just in case, this would definitely be the place! Stephanie J.

Experiencia negativa: The reason I'm giving this place 1 star is because we were looking to place my mother here after she left the hospital, after doing some research, visiting and the location (close to my home) and the fear of her going somewhere, where she will be neglected, we were relieved to find this place but to our dismay, they denied her for "previous alcohol abuse". Huh? So deny someone care because they have a previous alcohol use problem, real empathic, more like pathetic. She's not going there for AA treatment, she's going there because she's getting older and deemed she needs therapy before going home.

Experiencia negativa: The friendly, cooperative staff and clean environment can't compensate for the food that's worse than prison food's reputation...absolutely unexcusable cuisine barely fit for dogs. Food\nutrituon is an important 3x daily necessity that this institution failed miserable at, and I got my mom RIGHT OUT OF THERE after 2weeks of culinary torture.

Experiencia negativa: Unprofessional/needs to be audited by state!
This is the second review we have received from you due to not having a bed for your loved one. We are sorry that we can not take your loved one but feel that you giving us this review is unfair since your loved one is not admitted here. We are only licensed for so many beds and can not create a bed to accept your loved one. Experiencia negativa: WORST FACILITY I HAVE EVER SEEN! WARNING BEWARE! We took our grandfather here and the nurses are so rude. Treated us with disrespect and made my grandfathers stay unbearable. Will never recommend anyone to come here.

Experiencia fantástica: My Father just completed a two-week stay, and I can't say enough good things about the staff and his care team at Pomeroy. Between the hospital and his stay at Pomeroy he was away from home (and missing home) for almost a month, but everyone made him feel welcome (and we were able to visit him twice daily, bring him dinner and play card and dice games with him every evening). The rooms were clean, the food was good and his nurses, aides and therapists were wonderful.

Experiencia fantástica: My mother in-law broke her hip just 5 weeks ago. She was in the hospital for 10 days and it was horrible there. They wanted her to go to rehab and to be honest I was terrified after her being in the hospital for ten days and had a very bad experience. After her being at Pomeroy for three weeks I can honestly say I was very impressed! The rehabilitation unit was very clean, nursing staff was amazing, therapy staff were very knowledgeable. I was shocked how much my in-law actually enjoyed her stay. She was able to take part in several different activities, bingo, cards etc…. I would definitely recommend this place to other families and friends. My mother in-law walked out pain free and is currently back walking without a walker. Thank you Pomeroy! You are top notch!

They work tirelessly making certain your loved ones needs are always met! Dietary cooks fresh meals daily to please even the pickiest of pallets!! They've always got something hot and fresh for our beautiful residents and family as well with our in-house bistro. Activities always aims to please with countless things to keep our residents happy and healthy both physically and mentally. Lots of things to enjoy from the activities department! Experiencia fantástica: I am a travel nurse and had to make the unfortunate decision to place my family member in a skilled center. Thankfully I chose this facility. It was a great place. The Director of Nursing assured me of the care she would receive. Not only did they constantly keep in touch with me regarding her care but they called me to check in and also was very transparent with costs and appropriate treatment plan. When I visited it never spelled of body fluids or body odor like many of the other places I visited or worked at. It was always filled with such a nice atmosphere and the people were very nice. If I had to place anyone anywhere it would definitely be Pomeroy.

Experiencia negativa: Placing my grandmother here is my biggest regret. Food not fit for farm animals, Upper management is useless and pretends to care for your concerns, The residents rooms are falling apart and their primary focus is selling more rooms. None of their facilities are any different.

Can’t say enough good things about Pomeroy. A few months earlier, she was at Shelby Rehab (the worst imaginable care). Than you for taking care of my mom!

Experiencia negativa: Honestly not sure if there could be a worse facility for your loved one to be at. My grandfather has been a resident there for a few years now and it's been so incredibly sad to hear the horrific care and treatment he's received while being there. My grandfather is currently in the process of passing away. He was sent to the hospital after being unresponsive and the hospital said he needed to be on hospice care. As if hearing the news that my grandfather was declining wasn't hard enough, we now had to make an even more personal and emotional decision of which hospice company to use to help walk my family and grandfather through one of the most difficult chapters of our lives. We requested for my grandfather to use hospice services from a trusted hospice company. The trusted hospice company even offered to do everything they could to make the process smooth by driving out to Pomeroy to meet the staff, to drawing up all of the paperwork needed to do a one-time contract just so that they could come care for my grandfather. After letting Pomeroy know that we chose this trusted hospice company to care for my grandfather, they informed us that the trusted hospice company wasn't on their list of hospice companies and then threatened to discharge my grandfather from the facility if we didn't use one of their contract hospice companies. So not only were we not able to have the hospice company we wanted to use for my grandfather, we were faced with the even bigger threat of leaving my family in more distress by refusing to give my grandfather a bed for him to die comfortably in. I am most disappointed that my grandfather was no longer seen as a resident with dignity, but as a business transaction. Simply because we did not feel confident nor comfortable with choosing the hospice companies they were contracted with. Interestingly enough, Pomeroy Living's mission statement is as follows: "Pomeroy Living is committed to providing the highest level of quality care and treating all patients with whom we serve with compassion, dignity and respect". They sure have a funny way of showing "compassion", "dignity" and most importantly, "respect"... As listed on their website: "Pomeroy Living Skilled Rehabilitation has proudly served Metropolitan Detroit for over 30 years with a focus on skilled and personalized care." Beware, their definition of personalized care doesn't apply for when you're making the most important decision of choosing who you would like to support your loved one while they are passing away.
Joyce I’m so sorry about what you’re going through. I would just like to note that in our admission contract we state that we do business With three different hospice providers. We make it clear from the beginning that these are the Vendors who have access to work in our community. All three vendors are nationally accredited vendors all three have been vetted all three are insured licensed qualified and have a good star ratings. All three are in good standing with Medicare and Medicaid which is a requirement. None of the three vendors have any affiliation or company ties to us. There are thousands of vendors who provide hospice service we cannot do business with all of them nor can we vet them all Nor can we grant all different people access to our electronic medical record. I am sorry that a decision we’ve put in place has made you feel this way. It’s never easy to say no to a request but we do have to put safeguards in place that the office of the inspector general expects.

I could not have asked for a more helpful, communicative, devoted and kind staff. I never worry that my mother's best interest is secondary. Everyone there is so good to her and she could not be happier (nor could I).!

Experiencia positiva: I was there 7 years ago when it was Cherrywood. I had open heart surgery and needed re-hab. The re-hab staff was great, nursing staff & aids were pretty good too. My only problem was with the head Dr. that visited there & was was in control of when you would be discharged. I was feeling very good & re-hab techs said I was ready to go home, but he would not release me. I ended up telling them I was leaving anyway, then a shrink & another Dr came in and I told them I was otta here. They talked to me as I was packing and finally discharged me. I told them either way I was leaving anyway & for them to do what they had to do. I got the feeling they were trying to keep there to just to make money, I have the best ins & did not pay one penny, except for the phone & TV. I don't think there are any re-hab places that are perfect, they are a business just like any other business. I would go there and talk to patients & their families during visiting hours and talk to some of the people that are there for re-hab. or long term.

Experiencia negativa: There has been times where the food has either been over cooked or not cooked long enough! I have seen one of the head chefs prepare almost a whole meal With no gloves or a hairnet for his beard, and the mangers says nothing! This is very unacceptable and disgusting. I would NOT recommend sending a LOVED ONE here! Get it together dietary.

She Is The fist to Eat , like soon as the food is ready to be served she comes out get whatever she likes then disappear back into the office . VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! Experiencia fantástica: Cherrywood is a wonderful center. I do work there, but have also been a resident's family member. My grandma lived at Cherrywood for 3 years, and we were very happy with the center. She especially loved the activities they offered! Painting and Wednesday night bingo were her favorite!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: I was a rehab patient here twice. I really have no complaints except having to go to the hospital to have an IV put in. Yes I often had to wait for my medications and assistance in the bathroom. However, it is impossible to properly take care and document medications and transactions with patient unless staff was only assigned to one or two patients, which we all know is impossible. my only other complaint is that they do not take my mothers insurance because I would transfer her there in a heartbeat.

She had no phone and they took her remote away ,because it is 50 dollars for each, and then 3 dollars a day for each THEN if she dials out its so much per minute.then if she orders say an extra roll that comes off her 100 dollars CASH she had given these people so she could watch TV and contact people.. WHAT A RACKET had i read these reviews first Id never had put her in..i will update about the care..

Experiencia positiva: The facility itself is very nice and maintained well, kept clean the landscaping is nice but they do have their issues. I know a lot of people think Cherrywood is the cream of the crop when it comes to nursing homes and while the building is nice etc like I said they def have room for improvement. My mother was here for almost 3 years from having a stroke and there were many times I saw the nurse aids just sitting around in the day room while residents were lined up waiting to use the bathroom including my mother, recently she waited 20 minutes for someone to come in there and help her off the toilet..the call light flashed and beeped for 20 mins until someone finally came and got her this is unacceptable I went to the nurses desk and there was no one in sight except for the dietician doing work on the computer there. There are several nice nurses and aids who have been very good to my mother as well but there have been some who are just lazy and don't want to do anything and would get irritated when she would have to use the bathroom bc she needs assistance getting on and off the toilet and she is a heavier person Also don't ever let them do your family's laundry bc they will just lose everything, they lost so many things of my moms that were labeled it was ridiculous they did re-imburse us for a few items but I started doing it myself bc I got sick of dealing with it, then even after I did her own laundry they would still lose stuff, not sure how that even happens I guess they would forget and throw it in with their stuff even though in her closet theres a sign that says family does laundry and it was labeled how do items that are labeled never show up again after being laundered there? They do have Wifi and my mom was able to have her computer in her room so that did help a lot and the administrator there is very nice and does seem to really care about the patients and try to resolve issues but its mostly the nurse aids and some of the nurses that don't care all that much most of the ones that really did care about my mom and helped her the most have left their to go work at other nursing homes Im not saying don't ever go here bc it def is nice and they don't abuse people or anything but just saying that looks are not everything and they too have their issues I have seen many nurses and aids ignore the call lights and not even go in the room and just hit the button so it goes off so they aren't bothered with it.
