I had suffered a mild stroke that caused double vision and related issues. The atmosphere isrelaxing, almost home-like with an uderlying feeling of professionalism. When I met Liz Horton, my therapist, for my evaluation, she explained the degrees of my problem, and the methods she would use to correct this. It was simple, my eyes were not "dancing" together and we could correct thiis by following her treatment. Through her confidence, knowledge & compassion, we achieved the goal. My eyes are now dancing together! I highly recomend Engage Therapy.

When I found out that the there was a special balance class, I had tears in my eyes because this is my #1 difficulty! I fall around 4/5 times a month due to my severe nerve damage from a stroke that I had in 2002. Knowing that they give special attention to individuals suffering with neuropathy gave me encouragement back as I begin working with Jenn on my PT and later this month, I hope to start back up with OT!! Experiencia fantástica: How do you decide what is best for you? Is Engage PT,OT, SLP worth your time? Let me share my story. Nearly nine years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. The only thing I learned from my doctors is that exercise is important to delay the progress of PD, but they didn’t go into any detail. Well, I play tennis and I like to walk and to hike, so I figured I exercised. I did start reading about Parkinson’s online and learned about Rock Steady Boxing and how it slowed the development of PD; I also learned that an RSB program was starting in Liverpool, NY, and I went to try it out. I liked it and attended once or twice a week. Gradually more courses were added to the program including an exercise class. I participated in that class, taught by Elizabeth Horton, and I particularly recall some men debating whether they should do this exercise class; they thought it would be too easy. I remember one man’s surprise when he discovered that the class challenged him and wasn’t too easy at all. When the Covid-19 Pandemic forced our classes to go on Zoom, I was ready to try it out; I really liked it. Our Exercise classes were beautifully structured and met three times a week. Even when I was in Florida for the winter, I could still participate. I also learned that one should have PT on a regular basis for Parkinson’s; at the same time I began having additional problems: arthritic knee pain and foot pain from a hammertoe. My doctor suggested that I should get PT, and I said I would like to try Liz Horton, and that’s how I started. I was amazed that Liz sent me specific directions for exercises that she taught me during our sessions. I had gone to chiropractors for years for lower back pain, but they never were that specific about the exercises I should do. Now I see Liz on a weekly basis, and gradually my pain is lessening. Liz is also able to advise me on other aspects of dealing with PD. For example, she told me that I should take one particular medication 30 minutes before a meal because digesting protein at the same time lessens the pill’s effectiveness. When I mentioned that to my neurologist during a visit, he said “Yes, that’s very important to do.” But why had he never told me about that during the past 8 years? Seeing Liz on a weekly basis is extremely helpful. I have learned to focus on very specific exercises to deal with my particular issues, but I’m also learning to balance my time to include other types of exercise that I enjoy. She plans out my visits to cover my needs but also takes time to answer or discuss any questions I have. I am not treated impersonally and in a rush. I am proud to say I now have an extremely knowledgeable person with whom I can discuss my deepest concerns about dealing with PD and get sound advice. Now I have worked with another physical therapist, Christina Rubin. We "connected" immediately when I first went to see her. She is softly demanding and encouraged me to do my exercises at home as well as during therapy. I had never realized how important that was. She also got me to stretch my personal expectations of what I could do. Nothing would be too difficult for me to do if I kept working on it. That turned out to be totally accurate. Various moves that I had given up on ever doing again became possible as I worked with Christina. I recommend her very highly. You will not regret it!

Experiencia fantástica: As a Parkinson’s Patient, Engage Physical and Speech Therapy has helped me considerably. My balance and speech has improved greatly improved. I can’t praise them enough. Updated April 2025: I continue to work with Engage Therapy on a yearly basis to make sure that my battle with Parkinson’s is staying in check. When I find that I am in a decline we agree on a plan to help with my weaknesses. Currently discussing problems swallowing, testing, and strategies to maintain my swallowing. I love the staff at Engage

Experiencia fantástica: I have been going to physical therapy for three years now I’ve enjoyed working with many therapists that have been there throughout that time. Some have left for future endeavors and new faces have shown up. I began working with Aryelle and we have worked on many different areas. I have Parkinson’s disease and there are days when your body just does not want to stretch with you or move the way you want it to, but Aryelle has been amazing for me to work with and truly looks and searches out alternative exercises or stretches and she’s been a super resource when I’ve gone to join the gym. Some days it’s very hard but there’s always laughs and fun as we work through those exercises engage wellness and therapy is where I’d recommend everyone To seek out help

Mine is not a " one size fits all solution" so we worked on things that would help in other ways and in doing so I have learned things to help me regardless of my specific condition.

Experiencia fantástica: Treated by Deanna, BPPV symptoms were eliminated after 6 sessions, over three weeks. She is an extraordinary physical therapist; very skillful, knowledgeable and supportive. Therapy sessions were comfortable and reassuring while coping with a very unpleasant set of symptoms. I highly recommend her as well as Engage; very efficient office staff and very friendly atmosphere.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently had a problem and was not going to be able to make my appointment in the afternoon. The receptionist immediately set me up for a telemedicine appointment for the same time. I didn’t have to miss my appointment and everything went smoothly. I was so glad to have been able to stay on track with my progress. This is a great place to do Speech Therapy.

The app is monitored by my instructor (Aryelle) so she is aware of my progress and makes changes to the instructions as needed. When I go to Engage it is a pleasure to be greeted warmly by all staff and the time spent with my therapist, working through exercises and her explanations of why they help balance makes me want to work better, both at the facility and at home.

I would like to share my experiences with one of the physical therapists, Aryelle Barbagallo. I've been working with her for a few months. She is very caring and compassionate. I'm very impressed with her in-depth knowledge and experience of the human body and how our muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc. work together. Sometimes I may come in with pain in an odd area. I try to explain it and she is already giving me some exercises to reduce the pain. Aryelle is always prepared for your session and deals with a quick change and we're back on track. Aryelle always greets you with a smile. She provides you with a calming presence. In order to measure your progress, evaluations are performed along the way. I don't think I'm the only one who gets nervous at 'test' time. Aryelle has her why of calming you down and getting you to perform at your best. She is an excellent cheerleader and supporter. Aryelle isn't concerned with the numbers. It's all about doing your best. Most of the times you've done your best. I'm very satisfied and feel blessed to be working with great physical therapist. We absolutely love Kathryn as his speech therapist! She is very patient, kind, and understanding. There may not be any long term results from his therapy but it certainly doesn't hurt to try! She comes up with imaginative ways to stimulate his thinking and help to find words. I recommend her very highly! We are so glad we were referred to Engage Therapy and Wellness!

Experiencia fantástica: After nearly 12 years of balance and dizziness issues and chronic fatigue and many visits to specialists during that time with no diagnosis or relief, I finally decided to go to physical therapy. While researching physical therapy offices in my area, I came across Engage Therapy and Wellness. On their site, they mentioned something called 3PD, Persistent postural-perceptual dizziness, which I had never heard of before, and I had a light-bulb moment. This sounded exactly like what I've been experiencing. I went to Engage for five months, and Liz and Kristi helped me so much! They were kind, friendly, patient, and really know their stuff. I feel so much better and am on track to a better quality of life.

Experiencia fantástica: A week ago I suddenly came down with Vertigo. How happy I was to have found a place that quite skillfully addresses that condition. Engage has invested in the right equipment to properly assess the problem. After the Vertigo, I was left with slight dizzyness. I was given home exercises that pointedly addresses my problem. The people here are caring, thoughtful, skillful and compassionate. I would definitely recommend Engage to any who need PT therapy.

This past year I decided I needed a physical therapist who specialized in neuromuscular disorders. I have been working with Aryelle Barbagallo since them. The progress I have made astounds me. I had almost resigned myself to living with the limitations imposed by my weak hip flexor and drop foot. Aryelle has changed that. Each appointment she challenges and motivates me to do more. Experiencia fantástica: I developed a pinched nerve in my cervical vertebrae. In late September 2023. I was rapidly losing the use of my right arm. Turning to my right should or extension of my neck resulted in severe pain down my arm. I decided I wanted to try physical therapy rather than having surgery on my neck. I asked my family doctor to write a PT script for me and I went with Engage PT because it was so close to my home. I was so glad I did after my first meeting with Kristi Fiorini. She began with an exam to confirm my issue. She taught me a couple of exercises to do at home in between visits. I met with her weekly for six visits. I felt improvement each week. I now have minimal discomfort. I can turn my head to the right and extend my neck due to Kristi"s therapeutic techniques. She helped me avoid a surgical intervention for which I am so grateful. I continue to do my exercises and am bulking up rapidly. I recommend Kristi Fiorini to my friends and family without reservation. She is awesome.

It is now up to me to use them at home. I need to keep my muscles strong to help my back pain. I have had 6 spinal surgeries with hardware. Thank you Kristi for your help. The place is not one open room. They have several rooms to work with some people privately. Friendly atmosphere.

I have had a balance problem for quite a while which I assumed was permanent, nothing much could be done for it. I was wrong. Kristi F., PT at Engage has been working with me since 9/08/2023 , 2 x’s a week, 45min/ time. Each time we review and add new exercises, Many are games, some I manage , some are really hard. She’s very educated and stays up-to-date on the newest studies on PVCM/VCD. I’m breathing so much better and have much less strain on my vocal chords. My father had issues and went to her for over a year, she would get him feeling better the same day and due to his age (90) he saw her 2xs a week. She was always there on an emergency basis and his regular appointments. There isn't enough room to tell people how great they are and I have also referred several friends to her. You can't go wrong with Engage. They are truly the BEST!

Experiencia fantástica: I recently did 5 weeks of occupational therapy virtually with Megan Rea of Engage PT, OT, SLP. Specifically we worked on my hands - dexterity, strength, coordination. I was scheduled for longer but Megan’s training was excellent and I met my goals early. Megan is excellent at OT, and she’s a delightful person to work with. She’s always cheerful and she has high expectations, which is a good combination. I am very happy with the results of my work with Megan and Engage, and I certainly recommend them.

He has HSP (hereditary spastic paraplegia) and has started working with Engage on fine motor skills (writing, eating) and they have been very successful in identifying things that help on a wholistic level (with balance, clonus, etc.). Experiencia fantástica: I was diagnosed with Parkinson's 8 years ago. I have been up and down with my workouts. Most of my free time has been used up by caring for my parents. During my last appointment with the neurologist I told them I was not taking good care of myself and wanted to restart PT and Speech therapy. Who would have know I was on the doorstep of meeting the most informative, helpful, fun to work with people in my eight years of having Parkinson's. Kathryn and Emily are the best !! They both are excellent at there jobs ! In the past I have been to other therapy places but did not feel the excitement of going to the next appointment. I often made excuses to myself not to go. Not the case with ENGAGE. Emily and Kathryn have changed my outlook on life ! If I had the power they would be making more money ! Just great at there job !

Experiencia fantástica: When I first came to Engage I couldn’t raise my arms without a great deal of shoulder pain, I could not walk normally and “shuffled” instead. My balance was negatively challenged. Going down stairs was a nightmare. I could no longer drive because of the shoulder pain. Sports which I have always played were out of the question. It became difficult to stay on task with the work that I do. The strength in my hands, arms and leg had diminished to the point that it took two hands for me to lift a coffee cup and it became very difficult to get up from a sitting lying down position. I was finally diagnosed with Parkinson and tears in my rotator cuffs. I was told to try physical therapy for each. I found Engage and Emily through Parkinson’s Foundation to handle both of my situations. She recognized my situation and started the therapies for both slowly because of where I was. As we progress with her encouragement I was able to raise my arms above my head, the pain in a arms and hands disappeared and the constant shoulder pain was gone leaving only pain when I tweak the shoulders. My stride increased to normal and I am able to run (slowly) now. My balance and confidence have improved greatly. I have regained strength in my legs, arms and hands. With that I have found that I am able to stay on task longer and complete tasks. In just 10 sessions I went from about 30% usage to 70% usage. I think this is remarkable and far exceeded my expectations. Now I am about 80-85%. Reaching all of my goals. In short, I have my life back to normal. With the medication for Parkinson’s and physical therapy I consider myself to be normal again. I can recommend Engage and Emily with enthusiasm and confidence. Kent Gillis

I could just studder step myself around my home. then I found Engage Therapy. after a few exercise sessions they had me walking with the help of poles and a green cue light.. Experiencia fantástica: We have been using Engage to help keep my wife, who has dementia, healthy. Feeding and hydration was getting difficult and she was losing weight and strength. Jamie and Katherine work with us on feeding and drinking techniques, equipment, and opportunities to improve Susan’s quality of life. Their contribution ranged from providing new insights, to giving us confidence in what we have been doing, and encouraging flexibility and experimentation during mealtimes. These all contributed to maintaining her weight, improved alertness, and general health. It has been a worthwhile experience that changed mealtime from a time I dreaded to one where we can feel good about what we can accomplish. On top of that they are always on time for zoom calls!

Experiencia fantástica: I saw Liz for gait & balance issues relating to my Multiple Sclerosis. She was very patient with me, worked with my schedule and insurance. Liz was the key to my sanity when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. PT at Engage kept me from losing mobility (and the rest of my mind) during my chemo treatments. Anyone with mobility issues knows you can’t slack off on your exercises for a few months— even if you have a good reason!! But the therapy sessions were fun & something to look forward to. The staff at Engage is super nice and it’s a very calming atmosphere. By the end of my treatments I had improved my daily step count, re-learned stairs and have more “tools” to help me function. I would definitely recommend this practice to anyone looking for therapists of any kind who are truly specialized in neurological conditions.

I have but good things to say about Engage .After one month of pain in my lower leg i decided to come for physical therapy. My lower leg was also swollen. After few sessions with my physical therapist Emily Iles my pain was gone and my leg went back to its normal self like a miracle . It’s a very friendly environment. The staff are very caring and highly professional. I highly recommend Engage for any advancement in physical health.

Experiencia fantástica: Jamie was my Occupational Therapist and was wonderful! She was patient, creative, and positive... and I saw marked improvement in my word retrieval and memory. Emily was my Physical Therapist and we worked on my post concussive neck injury. She had great ideas and methods. I continue to use the tools she gave me, but, honestly, I hardly ever think about my neck anymore since it has improved sooooo much!! I would highly recommend both of these professionals. Thank you!

Experiencia fantástica: I was prescribed a series of appointments at Engage Therapy and Wellness following my diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease and a possible pinched nerve in my neck. Since I am familiar with PD because of a family member who had the disease, I recognize the slow loss of physical and mental abilities. My goal for the appointments was to develop an exercise routine to help mitigate PD over the long term. My PT therapist, Emily, was consistently professional and thorough. She kept my goals in mind after assessing my current physical status. I appreciated her consistent attention to the goals and her careful instruction about the exercises. She provided an outline of physical activity that will continue to guide me in my daily routine. I also found the front desk staff friendly and professional. My appointments were always a pleasure. The physical space is adequate for the office needs. Although the rooms were always busy, the space never felt crowded nor did I lack privacy. I would highly recommend Emily Iles and the staff of Engage Therapy and Wellness.

Experiencia fantástica: How do you decide what is best for you? Is Engage PT,OT, SLP worth your time? Let me share my story. Nearly nine years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. The only thing I learned from my doctors is that exercise is important to delay the progress of PD, but they didn’t go into any detail. Well, I play tennis and I like to walk and to hike, so I figured I exercised. I did start reading about Parkinson’s online and learned about Rock Steady Boxing and how it slowed the development of PD; I also learned that an RSB program was starting in Liverpool, NY, and I went to try it out. I liked it and attended once or twice a week. Gradually more courses were added to the program including an exercise class. I participated in that class, taught by Elizabeth Horton, and I particularly recall some men debating whether they should do this exercise class; they thought it would be too easy. I remember one man’s surprise when he discovered that the class challenged him and wasn’t too easy at all. When the Covid-19 Pandemic forced our classes to go on Zoom, I was ready to try it out; I really liked it. Our Exercise classes were beautifully structured and met three times a week. Even when I was in Florida for the winter, I could still participate. I also learned that one should have PT on a regular basis for Parkinson’s; at the same time I began having additional problems: arthritic knee pain and foot pain from a hammertoe. My doctor suggested that I should get PT, and I said I would like to try Liz Horton, and that’s how I started. I was amazed that Liz sent me specific directions for exercises that she taught me during our sessions. I had gone to chiropractors for years for lower back pain, but they never were that specific about the exercises I should do. Now I see Liz on a weekly basis, and gradually my pain is lessening. Liz is also able to advise me on other aspects of dealing with PD. For example, she told me that I should take one particular medication 30 minutes before a meal because digesting protein at the same time lessens the pill’s effectiveness. When I mentioned that to my neurologist during a visit, he said “Yes, that’s very important to do.” But why had he never told me about that during the past 8 years? Seeing Liz on a weekly basis is extremely helpful. I have learned to focus on very specific exercises to deal with my particular issues, but I’m also learning to balance my time to include other types of exercise that I enjoy. She plans out my visits to cover my needs but also takes time to answer or discuss any questions I have. I am not treated impersonally and in a rush. I am proud to say I now have an extremely knowledgeable person with whom I can discuss my deepest concerns about dealing with PD and get sound advice. Now I have worked with another physical therapist, Christina Rubin. We "connected" immediately when I first went to see her. She is softly demanding and encouraged me to do my exercises at home as well as during therapy. I had never realized how important that was. She also got me to stretch my personal expectations of what I could do. Nothing would be too difficult for me to do if I kept working on it. That turned out to be totally accurate. Various moves that I had given up on ever doing again became possible as I worked with Christina. I recommend her very highly. You will not regret it!

Experiencia fantástica: In rating Engage Therapy and Wellness, 5 stars does not seem to be adequate enough in providing praise for the owner, therapists and receptionists. And, believe me I can be a tuff critic of supportive services and interventions provided to my family! It was suggested by my son’s previous physical therapist and his general practitioner that we consider Engage to support his neurological diagnosis. From the first phone call to Engage, through evaluations, and now all therapies he is currently receiving - their collaboration between services, knowledge, integrity, and the joy for their job which they share with the clients is extraordinary. My son is making unbelievable consistent success that is unmatched from any other services from Syracuse, to Chicago, IL. and to Los Angeles, CA. Also, a fun fact is the clients become like family as they share in their success and cheerleading for each other. Thank You Engage - my mother’s heart is smiling as I place my adult son in your competent and caring hands!!

For 40 years, I have had issues with dizziness being diagnosed with meniere’s disease and positional vertigo. It’s been tolerated because I’ve figured out how to adapt and just live with it. As I have aged, my balance has been significantly impacted with a fear of falling always present. I had an evaluation appointment with Christina. In the conversation, I felt that I was listened to, that my condition was real and, most importantly, that there are ways in which it could be dealt with immediately and in the long term. She knew exactly how to start treatment and what would need to be done each step of the way. She stressed the importance of adhering to the process which contributed to my confidence in her expertise and in my being able ultimately to improve my quality of life. Emily Iles, PT assessed my issues and prescribed an effective treatment plan. She took an approach that looked at my overall health including diet, physical and mental health. From the first appointment, Liz was able to determine what type of activities were needed to help my daughter heal.
