Experiencia negativa: Optometry was bad. I was given a student to do my routine eye exam. It was the lengthiest eye exam I have ever had. My eyes were extremely irritated after that. The student's mentor had the audacity to tell me that I have to advocate for myself. Ridiculous.

Experiencia negativa: This was incredibly frustrating experience; I just got out of the hospital treatment of one week and finally found the medication that was working for my chronic illness. Then I tried to pick up my medications from the school pharmacy, where they kept repeating "Refill too soon", "Unable to authorize your refill until your medication actually runs out". As a result, I had to put my health and condition at risk because the pharmacy didn't even authorize my refill request on the day that they promised, and I completely ran out of medications even before I could send out the refill request. I reached out to my doctor, social worker, and they keep receiving the same response from the school pharmacy; They just can't do it. And you have to wait, wait, wait. At this point, I am considering cancelling the school insurance completely and not using the school health services AT ALL. I have never heard of any physicians, pharmacies, hospitals that do not put patients' life and health condition as a considerable priority, if not highest. Here, things are different and different rules are applied because it's "school" institutions. It's a completely different power dynamic than other parts of the world.

Experiencia negativa: The urgent care absolutely sucked. My sister went to the urgent care and we were there for 4 hours for a sprain, there is a decent amount of staffing and we were one of the first people in line yet there was little to no communication. I was waiting for her in the waiting room and the front desk were insanely unhelpful and rude. i asked the front desk if I can bring in her brace or something to drink or eat. She said that my sister had to ask the doctor but it seemed like there was only one doctor on call. When I told her the doctor was not in the room and asked if she could talk to the doctor she said no my sister is capable of asking and if she can't my sister can wait. She couldn't answer any questions regarding insurance, cost, time or status and couldn't even provide any empathy. It was just an insanely frustrating and awful experience. It brings up the question like what are your qualifications and what are you even there for. My sister was unable to walk and even when she requested I come in or if I can bring her something to drink she was ignored. Never coming again.

Based on everyone else’s reviews I suspect no one really holds staff accountable here which I find weird since students tend to be the most fragile but that seems to be being taken advantage of

The pharmacists will yell at you and are rude in person and via phone. These experiences make it hard to feel safe when you’re trying to seek medical services or get your medication.

Experiencia negativa: The pharmacy staff is extremely rude and often seems to go out of their way to be unhelpful. The management appears ineffective and may need to be replaced. Given the consistently poor customer service, commercial pharmacies in Berkeley are a much better option. The primary and urgent care is great. But avoid the pharmacy.

Experiencia positiva: The primary care and urgent care professionals are attentive and good communicators. The pharmacy, on the other hand, is a constant struggle (and I can see I'm not the only one, based on the other reviews). More than once, I've had to deal with rude or unprepared staff - and I understand that the real issue may be their training or the pharmacy processes.

Experiencia positiva: Good luck getting your prescriptions here because there’s a huge disconnect between the pharmacy and your provider — I kept getting moved around in circles trying to get paxlovid, for example, when I really should’ve just been resting with my active covid infection. Some of the primary care team is exceptional! But putting up with the rest of the system is a nightmare :(

Experiencia negativa: The nurses and MDs are wonderful. Unfortunately, after going to the pharmacy multiple times, I have witnessed the pharmacy staff be needlessly rude to myself and others. On one occasion, the staff talked trash about a customer loud enough for the whole waiting room to hear as soon as the customer left. It is extremely unprofessional.

Experiencia negativa: Poor service: lack of communication and transparency with pricing, insurance coverage, and costs of the tests that they make FOR you. They do not convey the options clearly first and end up making us pay a lot out-of-pocket. Not to mention the poor medical advice and expertise.

Experiencia negativa: Urgent care and PT are great (5 stars) but Primary Care needs an overhaul (negative 5 stars). There's often 0 appointments available so they tell you to call every day at 8 am to check if they have any appointments. They don't actually get in to answer the phone until 8:15. So you call at 8:15 and wait 30+ minutes to get told there are no MDs available. Ok great thanks, love that for me. The whole time on hold they're reminding you can book appointments online. You can't. Embarrassing

Experiencia negativa: Horrible. If you have an emergency, it is impossible to access eTang services. It is also difficult to navigate their website . Everytime I need eTang, they are unable to help. Their appointments are so backed up and have no organized system especially for emergency cases.

Experiencia positiva: Pharmacy and lab staff have been rude to me. The affordable prices kinda make up for it, but I still think they should exercise kindness. The different departments don't seem to communicate with each other, and you have to send a message to each individual department if you want anything done. I've had overwhelmingly positive experiences with PC and optometry, and would give them 5 stars if I could.

Experiencia fantástica: Tang Eye Center is filled with kind, knowledgeable people (from docs to students to front desk staff.) I get seen quickly every time I go there, and the eye exam is thorough and painless. The frames are fairly groovy, and I always leave feeling very glad to have taken good care of my eyesight with them. I'd totally recommend it for eye care and glasses!

Experiencia fantástica: Tang Center Optometry: Been going to these guys for years. They are a training center, so the first person to see you will do everything and take copious notes, and then the attending physician will come in and confirm everything the first person did. I like that the folks there are friendly and good at listening (and practicing their listening skills, clearly), and that they tend to have many of the newest devices and techniques to check on your eyes. The only drawback is the appointments tend to take 1.5 hours, and they dilate my eyes every time so I book the last appointment and do my best not to drive. Parking can also be a challenge nearby due to the length of appointment.

I love the fact that students get the chance to learn so directly to the patients and under direct supervision of professionals. When they ask something, I also get to learn new stuff that's relevant to my health. The two ladies in the front desk make my day, they work fast and really nice.

Experiencia fantástica: I went there for a routine eye appointment and found out that my eyes are misaligned. Within the hour they were able to diagnose the problem and set me up with a great deal on glasses. They arrived within the week. The community working in there is fantastic, super friendly, resourceful, and genuine. I am bummed I didnt take advantage of their service earlier in the college life.

Experiencia positiva: My visit to Tang centre was a pleasant surprise. While the facilities are good, the staff is very warm and friendly. The ease with which you can move between different facilities at the centre is amazing, and all credit to the people who are always there is help you and take care of your special needs. I went in with a muscle tear for which in needed a physiotherapy. It was hard to imagine, with the limited mobility I had, that I will also be able to get an eye exam and book my appointments for coming weeks. But all got done in a couple of hours and I left quite satisfied with the way the care givers treated me. Look forward to use Tang services much more.

Experiencia fantástica: Had a great experience at the optometry clinic - the student optometrist was extremely thorough and attentive, and my prescription was checked over by a supervising physician. The appointment setup and check-in process was pleasant and smooth with the front desk, and they also very kindly helped me with my glasses frames

Experiencia negativa: The hour information on the website is not accurate. I have an emergency medicine to pick up at the Tang Center pharmacy. However, the entire Tang center (including urgent care) is closed all day for Tuesday 8/2 without any notice. When I got to the Tang center, there is only a security staff making sure no one gets in. Later on I called the advise nurse line and they said no doctor is on call today and I can only go to other urgent care or emergency room...

Experiencia negativa: I spoke to one nice person there on the phone to schedule an appointment. Other than that, the service is extremely poor. They diagnose any malady, even if it is pink eye, as mono and are terribly unequipped to help students with mental health issues. I never even had an opportunity to speak with someone to set up a (virtual) session which was annoying for me because I wanted to talk some stuff out with someone, but I also know there are so many others who struggle with greater issues. It's disgraceful how a renowned university can be so oblivious to students needs (access to quality health care, abundant and healthy food options that are edible for various dietary restrictions, safe shelter).

Experiencia negativa: Their bureaucratic system failed to support me in my medication and treatments for some serious conditions. This center and its Pharmacy are the last place I would trust for my children to be taken care of. They are solely focused on their internal process rather than ensuring the wellbeing of their patients. It is responsible for two severe relapses and no support (or customer support) is in place to help patients. $6,500 of insurance is a scam and robbery. Please do not use the SHIP insurance nor the Tang center.

Experiencia fantástica: Excellent experience at the optometry office. Emmy, my technician, was wonderful and double checked that my prescription and contact lenses were comfortable. She did a great job explaining how my eyes were working/not working and answered all of my questions. When I told her that my main problem was focusing on seeing far away outside, she walked me to the lobby window and had me try different practice lenses while looking outside to see what would actually work best for me in practice. When I had trouble getting my new lenses in due to falling eyelashes, she taught me a trick to get them out without dropping the lens. 10/10 to Emmy and I could not be more grateful that she was my technician today.

Experiencia negativa: If you are a student at Berkeley and have the option to get your health service done elsewhere, do it. The insurance plan is mediocre at best and the service has been extremely poor in each of my interactions. It's pulling teeth to schedule an appointment if you don't fall exactly within Tang's current priorities (i.e. if you don't have covid right now but need something else, good luck getting an appointment in advance). The value for your money here just isn't worth it

Experiencia negativa: Very poor service from the appointment office. They ask you to put your name in a form and wait outside to be called in, but it seemed they do not check it constantly. I just wanted to make an appointment and had waited 50 min without being called, even though I was the only patient in the room for the last 30min. I had to ask help for the front desk and finally checked in. I had to listen from the staff at the Appointment office that they did not see my name on the list! If this is the only option you have, be sure to be on top of your triage. Do not expect people to be proactive, as it seems nobody actually care for you.

Experiencia negativa: The staffs at radiology were extremely rude. I’m an exchange student and was there asking if I could get some examination done for my school dorm. I understand that I’m in a way not qualified to get treated, since I’m not a regular student of this school, but the attitude of the ladies there was just so impolite. They were not at all sorry for not being able to do the test, nor trying to help me in any other way, but instead kept saying things like “I don’t see why we should treat you. We don’t want to do the test.” Even worse, right after I left their sight, they started laughing out loud. I was really disappointed and mad about their service and attitude:( I don’t know if they are nice to local students, but I think they should seriously be more polite to exchange students like me as well. (Surprisingly, when I called the other clinic outside of school asking the same thing, they gave me suggestions on what I should do, helped me find nearest clinics and even gave their phone numbers. I was expecting similar level of service from the “University Health Service” but well...)

Experiencia fantástica: Your go-to place if you are using SHIP or if you need any health-related services near campus. The staff for all department are very friendly, but you need to make sure you have an appointment for most of the services. Serving a campus of 30k+ students, it’s difficult sometimes to find an appointment that works for you.

Experiencia negativa: My wife and I waited an hour for a scheduled appointment- turned out the doctor went home sick and staff forgot to come get us. If this was a one-time situation it would not be too terrible. Unfortunately, Tang has consistently made us wait for appointments upwards of half hour to an hour. In addition, due to my wife’s small build, there have been occasions where nurses/doctors don’t take her illness seriously unless I’m there with her (I’m 6-ft tall and look much older). We are furious at Tang for their lack of timeliness and their discriminatory practices and would not recommend their services to anyone.

Experiencia negativa: I truly despise Tang. I am a fan of counseling and psychological services however, be prepared to enter the bureaucratic nightmare as you enter. Bring snacks as you wait and there are massage chairs on the second floor, god's speed.

Experiencia negativa: Some of the pharmacy staff have been great, however they do not ask you to verify your order at pick it up, and they do not replace it if the prescription is filled incorrectly because "Returns and Exchanges are against policy". If you attempt to dispute this, they will simply ignore you.

Experiencia negativa: This is one of the worst ever places on the earth! Even if you are a UC Berkeley student and have their insurance, they charge you a lot! I dont afford the price and so, asked the Tang Social Services for their help. They told me they would call me, but months passed and they never get back to me. Instead, they sent me a $800 bill! Damn with Tang center. Their smiles are all hypocritical !!!
