Experiencia fantástica: The care I receive at PT first is second to none. Felipe carefully analyzed all of my issues and I have seen great improvement. The pain is diminished. What makes a difference is that he listens to me about where my pain is and then works on those areas. My mobility, flexibility, and strength are improving after almost 1 year of inactivity due to 2 surgeries to repair the Achilles tendons and remove bone spurs on each foot. The staff at PT first is just as caring and attentive. The facility is clean, bright, well equipped and easy to access. It feels like family there.

We were referred to Felipe by another satisfied patient after we were not getting the results we hoped for at another facility. Felipe put a great therapy plan together to rehab my sons pitching shoulder. To make a long story short my son was able to not only play his senior year but continue his baseball career in college. My younger son had a lower back injury and thought his wrestling season was over. After being treated by Felipe he was able to finish the season as New Mexico State Champion. The care my sons received was excellent.

He mentioned that he wanted me to try PT FIRST. For the first time in dealing with this back pain I felt listened to and understood. After 6 sessions my lower back resolved to level that allowed me to tie my shoes and sleep with very little pain. I have since sent my wife and she also did very well. Francine in front offic runs the front end while Felipe runs the backend very smooth running office. A few months ago I was very fortunate Felipe had an opening for me when I broke my femur and put me in water therapy I have one month left but if it wasn't for Felipe I probably would be months behind on therapy with water therapy and Felipes expertise I'm months ahead. I had such an excellent experience with my Achilles rehab, that I returned for rehab of an old shoulder injury. Experiencia fantástica: Both of my feet were in bad shape after botched bunion surgeries. I was referred to PT First and was truly amazed at what a difference having them work with me made. Because of Felipe’s experience and personalized therapy, my left foot healed. I returned to them after having reconstructive surgery on my right foot. They have completely revamped to handle patients in this COVID crisis. The facility is spotless and Felipe is able to provide treatment at a distance. Already my foot is better and I am on the way to healing. Only a true professional who cares would be able to deliver this kind of treatment—especially now when distancing is required. Experiencia fantástica: Such a wonderful place and Felipe is incredible! They take great care of my mom who recently had a knee replacement and has many other issues from her shoulders and back. I saw Felipe for a knee issue myself after taking a bad fall and he was so attentive and considerate. They are taking all precautions right now with the pandemic from hand washing stations, temperature recording, to face masks and shields around the therapist to ensure everyone's safety. Experiencia fantástica: Last year, I tore my ACL from a contact injury playing soccer. I went to see Felipe for my Physical Therapy and I’m so grateful for him and his staff. You can tell Felipe and his staff cares about each of his patients equally and gives you the best possible care. He is very flexible with you and your schedule and tries to really get to know his clients. Not even a year later I’m back to running, biking, and working out. Not only did I recently run a duatholon, but I was able to push myself and get third place! Thank you for helping me get back to doing the things I love!

The people who have worked with me actually listen to the information I share and help me understand what they are doing and why whenever I ask. Hours are incredibly work friendly. This is the only medical related office I have ever been to where an hour of assistance actually means an hour (or a little more).

Experiencia fantástica: I had a bad fall in Sept. and fractured my tibial plateau (bone under the knee cap). After spending nearly 9 months wearing a brace and not putting any weight on my leg I needed physical therapy. The center associated with the orthopedic center I was going to couldn’t take me for 3 weeks so I got on the phone and called PT First and was thrilled they could see me the next week. They are located in a convenient location with parking just steps away from the front door. I was greeted by their friendly and competent front desk staff who checked me in right away. The owner, Felipe, met with me personally and made me feel like I was one of his most important clients. The physical therapists, Kevin, Phil and Dylan all worked with me for nearly 4 months were all so encouraging and caring. One of the things I liked best was they had me do different exercises at every visit so it was never boring. I can’t say enough good things about their water treadmill therapy. I was able to do things I didn’t dream I could do. I am now discharged from PT First and doing home rehab. I highly recommend PT First, and have, to my friends for your physical therapy needs.

Experiencia fantástica: I struggled with limited mobility and pain in my left shoulder for almost a year, but after just six weeks of physical therapy at PT First I have almost my full range of motion back and am virtually pain-free! Felipe knew exactly how to treat my adhesive capsulitis (or frozen shoulder) and did so in a gentle and caring manner. When I needed rehabilitation after a joint replacement (20 years later), I sought him out, as I remembered his intensity, attention to detail, compassion, and exceptional intellect. The owner, Felipe Mares, provides each of his patients with personal attention every visit. He is extremely knowledgeable and committed to creating a path to recovery that works. Felipe's staff is well-trained and courteous, and the facility is absolutely pristine. After left hip surgery in October, I made the mistake of going to a different physical therapist in Albuquerque. The place was filthy and over-crowded, and the staff was condescending and had no clue what they were doing. Three weeks later, my recovery wasn't progressing as well as it should have been and my surgeon was concerned, so I decided to leave mid-treatment. That's when I found PT First and realized that not all PT facilities are created equal. Three months after my left hip surgery, I had the same surgery performed on my right hip. All of my physical therapy for this second surgery has been with PT First and my progress has been noticeably quicker. My surgeon was even impressed. The evidence is clear. PT First is, by far, THE BEST physical therapy you will find in Albuquerque!

Experiencia fantástica: I had been battling neck pain & discomfort for about 1 year, having tried chiropractors, acupuncture and a pain clinic, finally my primary care doctor suggested physical therapy. Not having ever been to a PT I didn't have much faith but I did have a great referral. My close friend and my mother both have been going to PT First. That was the 1st step to my healing and finally getting rid of my problem. Felipe and his staff are amazing. Felipe has such a gentle touch that I never really felt what he was doing since there wasn't any pain. He gently manipulated my neck and shoulder each visit, combined with a warm up, workout and cool down. Before I knew it I was sleeping through the night with each passing day feeling back to normal. I highly recommend you give them a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Experiencia fantástica: Smiles from front to back of PT First. In a world where it seems that customer service is dead, let me tell you that this group refuses to give in to that philosophy. There has not been an individual in this facility that doesn't make it a priority to engage in your well being. Therapy is enough of a challenge, but when you're surrounded by such a supportive staff it makes you feel like you're making a stride with every move you take. These guys really give Albuquerque the perfect place to call home to keep me moving. Phone calls to the clinic are answered promptly and happily. I've had such an easy time with scheduling around my busy schedule, so much so, it feels like its a la carte. Made to order the way I like it! The therapists really know their stuff. I came expecting to be seen three times a week, and fearing I couldn't afford it, as all my prior experiences with therapy at other facilities have been this way. I was delighted when told that I would only need a few sessions to "calm down my condition" followed by me performing activities that they would fully educate me on. That is just what they did. All my concerns were answered and they made me feel that I could accomplish anything. Thanks guys!!! Don't sell yourself short on your health. Come see this group! I was referred to his company by my physicians head nurse and to assist me in my recovery from radiation damage that has caused me lock jaw. PT First is a well run rehab facility. From my observation, Felipe demonstrates so much one on one commitment to each of his patients, where he champions his clients to fight through all their daily pain and to show them that healing is just around the corner. They truly care about their patients and their road back to a full life. The facility is GREAT and the patients' privacy is always respected. The exercises are specific and challenging and safety and comfort are always a primary concern. I would not be as far along in my recovery without all the encouragement I receive at every appointment. With that encouragement I work even harder at the sessions and doing exercises on my own. It's a perfect experience in every way from getting in to your appointment on time, every time, and getting your muscles worked at the right level. Neck pain is tricky to treat, but Felipe is a great physical therapist.

Experiencia fantástica: Friendly facility with intelligent, professional personnel. What first brought me to PT First was chronic shoulder pain. My surgeon diagnosed a torn rotator cuff and stated that, at some point, I would need surgery to repair it. However, he had sent his wife to see Felipe Mares with a similar injury the year before and he'd helped her. The surgeon suggested I see Dr. Mares, in case he could help me enough for me to avoid surgery, at least for now. I was doubtful. After 6 treatments, my pain was gone and much of my mobility returned. I see Dr. Mares occasionally for a "tune up" when the shoulder acts up again. He never fails to help. Dr. Mares is the only p.t. I've seen over the years who actually manipulates/massages the injured joint. He doesn't simply send you to one machine after another as most p.t.'s do. No one like him.

Experiencia fantástica: As a recent transplant to ABQ, I had to rely on Google to find a PT in the city that could help me after a recent surgery. Thanks to the reviews, I ended up scheduling an appointment and receiving treatment at PT First with Dr. Angelo Pompeo. My visits consisted of stretching and getting some work done on the table, then Dr. Pompeo would demonstrate the exercises he'd have me do. Surprisingly, my uncoordinated self managed to get them done...and well! After about 3 mos., I have reached my therapy goals (yay!) and honestly feel a lot better (thank you!). Dr. Pompeo is an excellent therapist and extremely personable. He's also very knowledgeable in his field (I observed him training someone who had just started clinicals there; he's a good teacher, too). The rest of the staff is also great, super friendly and the vibe is definitely a positive one there. Thank you all for the work you do!

Experiencia fantástica: I was dreading physical therapy after my shoulder surgery in December 2016, but that all changed when I started going to PT First. Felipe’s knowledge and experience put me at ease immediately. He spent most of each hour with me working on range of motion. I always left PT First feeling like I had made progress on my rehabilitation. I received exercises I could do at home or at the gym that would reinforce my end goal. Felipe’s staff demonstrated exercises and ensured I performed them properly before I left from each visit. I appreciated the amount and variety of equipment that was used for my rehabilitation. The equipment wasn’t old and tired, but in many cases similar to most of the equipment I had access to at the gym. I also had great flexibility in scheduling appointments and I never waited more than a minute before I was ushered in for my appointment. Payment and billing also went very smoothly. I would not hesitate to recommend PT First as a first choice for any family member or friend. Felipe and his staff truly care about their clientele. I went back to PT First a year after my shoulder surgery, but this time for knee pain. I was treated to HydroWorxs water therapy. I felt amazing after each session. PT First puts their clients needs first by acquiring the latest methods of physical therapy. Now I am encourage to take water aerobics after seeing what water therapy at PT First has done for me.

From the moment you walk into the facility, you are treated like royalty. The receptionists are warm and welcoming, and are really good at their jobs. The physical space itself is light, inviting, and clean, and the vibe from everyone working there is very positive and uplifting. My PT, Angelo, was incredibly knowledgable, highly skilled and super personable - he made the me laugh and he also listened carefully, which is something many medical folks don't do these days. Angelo used an impressive variety of modalities to help my injured arm heal quickly, and he taught me a ton about the muscles of the arm and how to strengthen them in order to avoid future injury. Shane was always kind, patient and helpful, too. Every employee at PT First seemed to genuinely care about the patients, and you could see that, looking into all the patients' faces....To tell the truth, I had not been looking forward to getting physical therapy to heal my injured arm, but my time at PT First ended up being a great experience of learning and healing and, dare I say, even fun! (imagine that!) Should I need PT therapy sometime in the future, I know right where to go!! Thanks, PT First! You absolutely rock!!

Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend PT First for anyone seeking physical therapy, especially athletes. Felipe has worked with me over the past five years for different volleyball injuries and made the world of a difference. Most recently, I had a sensation of "knocking" at the base of my head when I would jump. No one--not even neurologists--had heard of it before. Felipe hadn't heard of it either, but he believed neck instability could be the cause. After a month of treatment that symptom is gone! It would have been so easy for him to dismiss that as crazy or a mystery... but he trusted me, looked deeper, and solved it! This is because the respect and time Felipe dedicates to his patients is outstanding. The appointments usually consist of manual therapy by your PT (Felipe or Angelo) and then exercises guided by a staff member. You can get good exercises to do at any PT clinic here in ABQ, but the individual treatment at PT First is second to none. There is never a crowded or rushed atmosphere as I have seen in other clinics. Aubrey and Francina make scheduling and billing easy, Shane makes the exercises fun, and Felipe and Angelo will get you healthy. No better place to go than PT First.

Experiencia fantástica: Free from Chronic Neck Pain. I came to feel that my neck and shoulder pain was a way of life as I had suffered with it for over 10years. I saw Dr. Angelo Pompeo at PT First and I was very impressed. He identified the issues I was having and treated me a few short sessions my neck and shoulder pain was gone. Dr. Pompeo worked with me indivdually at each an every session and gave me a home exercise program that I continued to do to this day that has kept in check. I didn't know I could be pain free, but I am grateful to Angelo and the staff at PT First for restoring my health.
