Experiencia fantástica: I am grateful that I found Athletico West Loop/United Center. The entire staff here is incredible. After sustaining an arm injury that put me out of action, my physical therapist Joe has helped immensely putting me on the road to recovery. Joe created a an exercise routine for me that I plan to use long after physical therapy. He challenged me, worked with me on my goals, and has a fun and unique approach to physical therapy sessions. I was surprised that I looked forward to physical therapy! It’s been great to feel continuous recovery/improvement, feel like I’m getting a workout, and feel the benefits from the wellness/healing techniques used here.

Experiencia fantástica: I was lucky enough to happen upon this location due to the proximity of my home and I could not be more thankful. All the care I received was insightful and thorough. Huge shoutout to Secil, Joe, and Frankie. They made the experience of showing up in the wee hours of the morning worth it. I originally started working with the Athletico team due to a shoulder injury, but ended up injuring my calf in marathon training as well. I'm happy to report both injuries are healed and/or healing - could not have done it without them. I'm a bit sad to end my PT journey, but I know where I'll be returning should I ever have any needs in the future.

Experiencia fantástica: I am a physician and I cannot recommend this place enough for your PT needs. I would give it 6 stars if I could. I came in with chronic hip pain, and also ended up getting treatments for my tight trapezius, neck pain, and TMJ. Every time I stepped in here, the experience was super pleasant! The team here truly goes above and beyond for the patients. Francesca stayed on top of the logistics, Jenny was super kind and helpful, and Joe does an incredible job of listening and adapting. He offered me dry needling on the first session, and while I was hesitant at first, now I can't stop asking him to needle different pain areas! Every session, Joe provides entertainment and thought-provoking conversation while challenging me with a fresh variety of exercises to address my many complaints. Overall, the outstanding staff here are what will make your experience stellar and guide you along your journey to recovery. :)

Not only am I pain free, but I am equipped with the exercises to ensure that I stay that way thanks to Joe Derkits. The staff is top notch and they create a welcoming environment; I never dreaded my visits. Experiencia fantástica: I could live anywhere in the city and it wouldn't matter, I would make the trip to this specific clinic just to work with Joe. This is my second time working with Joe (different body part this time) and it's apparent how much thought and care he puts into each individual's schedule and exercises. He's extremely flexible, responsive, and receptive to everyone's individual needs. I previously went to someone else for my shoulder issues and I'll never make that mistake again. My shoulder strength and range of motion has increased exponentially in the short time I've been working with Joe again. I felt a massive reduction in pain after just our first meeting. Additionally, Joe isn't just in this for the job; he actually listens and gets to know everyone he works with. He found out about my chronic migraines and neck pain and has given me various stretches to alleviate some of that pain. More importantly, he has discussed the magic of dry needling with me multiple times and I finally decided to take the dive after a particularly bad one. I've felt less tension in my neck since and haven't had any bad headaches. This led me to trying it with my traps and shoulder as well, which has helped so much. I plan on having him perform the dry needling each week as a result. I think it's also important to note that Francesca (the Front Office Patient Experience Coordinator) is also awesome. She's personable, knowledgeable, and ready and willing to do what she can to help people out in whatever way she can. All in all, I can't say enough positive things about this clinic. The staff really cares about helping you feel better and strengthening those areas that you need. If you're having any sort of issue, GO HERE! It'll be the best decision you've ever made for your body. Thank you Joe, Francesca, and the rest of the staff!

PT Secil provides a great and challenging therapy program which has made a real difference! My condition and strength have vastly improved and the results are readily apparent! Experiencia fantástica: I chose this location because I am a Director at a nearby hospital and needed somewhere geographically close to work...and I am so glad that I did! I was truly blown away at my first appointment. I have worked with Joe, Michael, and Secil and they are each so warm, knowledgeable and empowering. They have different approaches and experiencing the diversity of their skill set has been a major benefit and certainly aided in my recovery. I also want to recognize Matt, Francesca and Nadia who have also been so supportive and equally as inviting and encouraging. I frequently request changes to my schedule, particularly with the changing needs of my job at the hospital and they are incredibly understanding and flexible. The added bonus of a free parking lot is also super accommodating. My knees feel stronger and more stable and overall, I feel a significant improvement in my health. I wish I could continue PT indefinitely because of the environment the therapists have cultivated and how much I learn at each appointment. I am endlessly grateful to the team for all that they have done for me. My one note is about the television. The team does a great job of using their own music/playlists but the tv was great to have during cardio warm up, stretching, etc. It was truly a patient satisfier and I hope you will consider restoring this service. Based on what I have seen in the reviews and personally experienced at this location since November '21, they are more than deserving of this amenity. Thank you!

Experiencia fantástica: This is my second journey with physical therapy. My first was with double knee replacement surgery and NOW vehicle accident with back injuries. Colin is an awesome therapist. Colin is knowledgeable, attentive, professional and caring. Colin is an asset to Athletico and has rebuild my confidence in myself and Athletico/physical therapy. This location is clean and organized.

Experiencia fantástica: I spent the last 4 months working on my arthritic joints with Joe. PT can’t “fix” them but they can improve “functionality.” It did. A lot. Will be back after surgery. I cannot say enough about how much my work with him/them has helped. Great outcomes, great people and will always be my go to place. Choose this place!

Experiencia fantástica: I've had the pleasure to work with Joe and Mike. They are incredibly knowledgeable and helped me tremendously with some complex medical issues. I recently had a back, neck, & hip surgery. Joe and Mike were able to navigate it in a very methodical way. We did BFR, Dry Needling, adjusted some biomechanics, Traction, did some very specific exercises to isolate a muscle, and isolated stretching. Although it has been a long and tough journey, they remain motivated to get me better and that helped me to keep pushing. They certainly are above any PT that I worked with and that has been more than plenty. I can't forget to mention Francesca and Jenny. Both very professional and worked with my schedule to get me in. Thank you all.

Experiencia fantástica: The entire West Loop: United Center Athletico team went far beyond my expectations! As a skateboarder, I was worried typical physical therapy for a severe ankle sprain wouldn't be enough. I expected to use my ankle in ways most people don't by the end of treatment. Micheal T. very quickly put my mind at ease. Session-to-session, Mike was informative and compassionate; He listened to my concerns and showed a genuine interest in understanding my needs – going as far as observing me skateboard (on-site!) to understand better the movements, stresses, and difficulties I was experiencing. After roughly eight weeks, I'm back on the board, and it's because of the team at Athletico. I hope I won't be back soon, but knowing there is a place, and people, that will help get you back to doing your thing is comforting.

Experiencia fantástica: Mike Tulman is the best therapist I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. He has an honest and open communication style that makes it easy to understand goals and objectives. He welcomes patient input to tailor your therapy for optimum patient outcome and care. Mikes knowledge of his craft and skill is on par with excellence! I also want to acknowledge the house staff for their help in getting me better with their kind words of encouragements and assistance with my therapy. Only one gripe… There’s a television on the wall that helped take your mind off the pain while doing the therapy that is no longer in use due to budget constraints. It’s unfortunate that your company charges what it does to receive care but nickel and dimes the process that makes it a bit easier

Experiencia fantástica: Admittedly, I was skeptical when I stepped through the door and discovered an entirely new clinical staff I didn't know this past November 2021. The previous crew helped my son recover from a complete labrum repair on his right shoulder. Instead, I was introduced to Joe, the new Facility Manager and Lead Physical Therapist, who got me working back to functionality despite having Adhesive Capsulitis (Frozen Shoulder). I saw Joe twice a week for six weeks and found him engaging, funny and more importantly, very effective in my regaining flexibility, mobility and strength. So much so that my Orthopedic Surgeon (team ortho for the Chicago Cubs) was surprised and impressed with my rapid progress on my follow-up visit. As I continue my physical therapy for another six weeks, I look forward to improving my flexibility and growing my strength back to baseline. Due to conflicts in schedules, I have also worked with the other Physical Therapist, Michael and Secil, the Physical Therapist Asst. Francesca and Jenny are efficient and flexible in scheduling out my many appointments and squeezing me in when necessary. Matt assists me with my exercises when needed while helping me breakdown complex plots of the latest movies. Happily, I am enjoying my recovery and have grown fond of this crew led by Joe. I highly recommend this location due to it's warm clinical staff, easy location and private parking. I have one request as I can't help but wonder why the television has been cut off? When you're on any piece of equipment for a period of time, watching it would make the time more pleasant. Thanks Athletico - M

Experiencia fantástica: I went to west loop athletico after my ACL surgery, and spent 6 months with Mike rehabilitating my knee back to sport. It was a fantastic experience working with all the staff at this site ( thanks Jenny and Francesca!), everyone was always so flexible and helpful. They truly care about their patients. Working with Mike was incredible. He created workouts and solutions in a thoughtful way, and really altered them based on my feedback and ability. I highly recommend going to this facility for post ACL surgeries, they are a talented and experienced group of people. I always looked forward to my sessions, they were engaging and kept me motivated. Thank you guys for getting me back to 100%!!!

Experiencia fantástica: I had the opportunity to work with Joe, Michael, and Secil at the West Loop/United Center location, but spent the majority of my time with Joe and Secil. All three were very knowledgeable, professional, and personable. During my six weeks of PT, Joe and Secil adjusted their treatments depending on how my shoulder was feeling on a particular day. Joe updated my home exercises regularly. My sports medicine physician commented on the increased strength in my right should following the six weeks of PT. In addition to my underlying shoulder issue, I have had knots/trigger points in my neck and shoulders for as long as I can remember. Joe performed dry needle therapy which loosened muscles that were not responsive to any other form of treatment. Although I have completed PT, I will continue to see Joe for dry needling when needed. I would recommend this location for PT and Joe for dry needling!

The facility is very well equipped with all the various equipment I need to get better. All in all, you can't go wrong with this place. The staff is wonderful! Experiencia fantástica: Joe Derkits and his entire staff at this Athletico facility are unbelievable. Here is a little background on what I came to Joe with. I had a severely herniated C6-7 disc. The pain from the injury was radiating down into my right arm all the way to my fingers. It was excruciating at times and severely impacted my mental well being on top of everything else. The pain was so unbearable that it was hard to focus at work and hard to be present when I'd be home with my two little kids. I had been dealing with it for months before I finally went in to Northwestern to have it evaluated. Then I met Joe Derkits at Athletico. Joe has an incredible mind and strong desire to help his patients. The physical therapy sessions were also therapeutic from just being in there and getting to know Joe. We didn't have the breakthrough i was hoping for about 3 weeks into my physical therapy. He was SO diligent on trying different exercises and techniques while also trying to impact everything I did throughout the day. He went beyond the call of duty in my opinion, and I had complete trust in his process. That trust in his process was gained because of his ability to connect with me and understand what I was going through. We finally figured out a program that my body responded to. Once I was able to get the program down and he was confident on my ability to continue it on my own, the physical therapy sessions ended. I'm now a month and a half out from my last physical therapy session. When my C6-7 disc starts to feel even remotely aggravated I have the guidance Joe left me with to alleviate any symptom I'm feeling. He still checks in with me every once in a while to see how I'm doing. Athletico is so lucky to have Joe Derkits on their staff. I truly feel like he gave me my life back and also left me with a strategy to alleviate the pain I was dealing with on a day to day basis. Honorable mention: The women at the front desk were extremely pleasant and always willing to help. I also worked with another trainer in there Mike who was outstanding when we worked together on a session. After he and I worked together just once, he would even check in to see how I was doing when I'd come in for Joe. The whole facility is filled with outstanding individuals and I can't recommend it enough. It sounds crazy...I was there 2 months. But in that short span, I'll remember the impact that facility had on me for the rest of my life.

Experiencia fantástica: This is an amazing place for PT. The entire staff is friendly, knowledgably and accommodating. They explain your treatment plan, and what the short term and long terms goals are to guide you on your path to recovery. They provide clear and understandable answers to every question I had along the way. Finally, each therapist I worked with actually spends the whole session with you and ensures you are correctly doing each exercise to get the most out of your treatment.

Experiencia fantástica: I saw Joseph Derkits at Athletico in Logan Square - but I am posting a review here knowing he'll be at this location. I was not comfortable with the idea of physical therapy for many reasons but after a few sessions I felt at ease. Joe is good at checking in frequently and always used my feedback to help determine next steps. In a short time, my symptoms began to improve and it felt like I had a friend helping me through a very not fun/confusing time. Joe provided me w/ resources outside of his own expertise so I can work on other issues I've been struggling with. From what I witnessed, Joe has great compassion for every patient he works with, and also has pretty good taste in music, so be excited if you get to work with him.

Experiencia fantástica: First of all let me start by saying that the entire staff here is amazing. They are always so friendly and genuinely concerned with your care. My personal experience has been with Anna. She literally helped me get back on my two feet after an breaking my ankle. I have two plates and 10 screws and felt discouraged in my ability to ever walk again. I was a mess when I rolled in on a walker, unable to bear weight on both legs. She has tried every technique in the book on me and I am truly grateful. I can now walk “somewhat normal”but I’m an confident that she will get me where I need to be. Not only is she knowledgeable, but truly personable and that really makes a difference. I highly recommend this facility and staff.

Experiencia fantástica: I came into therapy expecting my experience to be like all the others I had, long sessions with no real progress. My experience with Athletico West Loop was the total opposite! My therapist Lindsay is top notch! She is very thorough with the plan of recovery she had for me. She did an awesome job helping regain flexibility and range of motion with my injury. Lindsay is so nice and very easy to work with. She scheduled me around my work schedule and even allowed me to come in early if need be. I’m very pleased with the care she gave me. The facility is always cleaned and followed all of the covid 19 protocols. The rest of the staff there are very friendly and engaging. If I ever had to use any type of therapy, Lindsay and Athletico West Loop will be my preferred facility of choice! Thank you Lindsay for everything you're the best!!

Experiencia fantástica: I have gone now for PT on two occasions to this West Loop Athletico by the U.C. and have had a very positive experience both times. I enjoyed going and like the work out I received. Bryce helped me on my Plantar Fasciitis my first go round and then Bryce but mostly Lindsay helped me with my hip pain. Both were very caring, competent, knowledgeable, attentive and through in their assessments, exercise regimen and all. The staff as a whole was consistently pleasant and helpful and the facility is easily accessible, spacious and well-kept.

Experiencia fantástica: If you are in serious pain and need relief, this is the place to go. An inoperable back injury left me barely able to function. I was hopeless at the prospect of no other relief than painkillers. When my doctor said the only hope was PT I wasn't terribly optimistic, but I am truly amazed by the results. Zach is an amazing therapist whose hands-on work and strengthening exercises brought me back from the brink. I now go on for year long stretches with no pain at all! When I do aggravate the old injury I have gone back to him and been seen quickly. I was able to get back to my normal routine in only a few sessions. The location is also very convenient and there is easy parking in their lot. Appointments were always very easy to schedule. They really seem to want to accommodate. I HIGHLY recommend this Athletico!

Experiencia fantástica: I had the pleasure of having Bridget as my therapist. At first I was against the idea of needing any kind of therapy for my shoulder but I’m glad I gave this a shot. My range in motion has improved immensely. The whole staff here is nice and easy to talk to. The facility is always clean. As happy as I was to be done with my therapy I will miss the staff. They are seriously some of the nicest people I’ve met. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who finds themselves in need of physical therapy.

Experiencia fantástica: I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Zach Tropp and team. Zach was precise with his diagnosis while also answering all of my questions. Collectively, the team does a great job of adjusting their treatments depending on how I was feeling from the previous session or from activities that same day. I unfortunately injured another limb while getting treated here, but Zach immediately provided me with exercises for my new injury while simultaneously treating my existing one. Zach came highly recommended from my doctor, and I can confidently say those recommendations were spot-on. I would recommend anyone to this location.

Experiencia fantástica: Zach and his Athletico team are skilled, compassionate professionals. I highly recommend them! Went to Zach on a recommendation after a foot injury. When I first met him, I had low expectations about getting any improvement from physical therapy. Boy, was I wrong! Zach evaluated me and set up an exercise program that was effective and easy to follow. It a few weeks, I was amazed to see that I was improving, and even though there were a few setbacks (due to my klutziness) Zach remained positive and supportive as he helped me get to a full recovery. His whole team is friendly, positive and very helpful. He has a good reminder system for appointments, and in addition this location has it's own parking!

It became my second home! Zach is kind, effective, thorough, compassionate, and professional. Because I was such a regular, we became good buddies and it felt like a family with other regular patients. Zach went above and beyond to attend doctors appointments, explain confusing medical terms, and be a shoulder to lean on when the pain was too much. It has been a game changer for me and my neck pain, range of motion and constant headaches. The staff is very courteous, respectful and knowledgeable. PT Zach has changed my quality of life in a pain free way and introduced me to the wonders of dry needling. I am a big fan of both Zach and Athletico/United Center.
