Experiencia fantástica: I am a very active 48-year old who has played basketball and skied most of my life. In November, 2012, I tore my meniscus playing basketball and had to have surgery for the first time. I was worried about whether my future activity would be limited or somehow be lessened because of surgery, but also because of my age. I was fortunate enough to have Sanatan Golden as my physcial therapist. Sanatan understood where I was physically before the surgery and that my goal was to get back there or to even improve my fitness level, rather than to simply be resigned to do whatever the future might allow me to do. Sanatan listened to my concerns and we worked together to address them - there were miscellaneous pains after the surgery that we worked to eliminate, and we worked to regain or improve strength and mobility. One of the things that most impressed me was his ability to explain why particular exercised had to be perfomed in particulars ways in order to meet the goals we were setting. It was those little things that really made the difference in continuing to improve over the time we worked together. I feel very fortunate to have worked with Sanatan for my recovery. Experiencia fantástica: KEYWORDS: Competitive Runner, Barefoot, Technique, Recovery I am a competitive and dedicated runner and got injured last year during my training to walk on to USC's Track team for long distance. After spending close to 9 months in physical therapy (improving muscle recruitment and strength), I returned home for the summer and was referred to Sanatan Golden by so many people (friends, co-workers, etc.) that I thought I should check out what all the hype was about. When I started working with Sanatan, I still couldn't really run, but I knew I didn't want to run with orthopedics and had been doing all of my training barefoot once I had gotten injured. Sanatan, with his background in barefoot running as well as mechanical engineering, helped improve my running technique drastically so that now I can even run barefoot on concrete with no pain whatsoever. Sanatan was very attentive and helped me not only recover so that I can enjoy the thrill of running again, but also taught me the principles behind each exercise so that I can continue to improve while I'm back at school. I am now Co-Captain of the USC Cross Country team (club is the highest for xc) and am training our runners with some of the same methods Sanatan showed me. I am still improving my technique and slowly building mileage, but I am confident I will be back in better shape than ever soon enough. I can run quickly and efficiently on all surfaces (barefoot on concrete included) without pain, and I would highly recommend Sanatan to any runner, injured or not.

Experiencia fantástica: The best measure of care that my podiatrist took after seeing me twice was to write a prescription for physical therapy--and I was fortunate to receive care at Theraputic Associates under the attention of Sanatan Golden. I had been suffering from heel pain for over 15 years, remedying the issue with arch supports somewhat successfully, until the pain began moving into my calf and all the way up my leg. I tried deep tissue massage and acupuncture which felt great but was short-lived. And, after seeing a podiatrist who administered two rounds of cortisone shots, something that did give me relief several years ago but did not work this time, and who suggested another pair of custom insoles, we decided that physical therapy would be the best course of action. Sanatan is a great listener and showed great insight as a therapist--taking into consideration my overall health, lifestyle and physical history. He worked with me to strengthen my arch and bring me out of my immediate pain. Sanatan met me where I was mentally and physically, and challenged me to expand my comfort level so that I would learn to challenge myself. He taught me how to be conscious of the way I walk(barefoot and with shoes) and the way that I think about my body. After helping me to relieve my heel pain, Sanatan, along with the support of my primary care physician, found his way to the source of the problem--my lower back. Sanatan worked with me to strengthen my back and my core, focusing on muscles both large and small--connecting me with my body's own strength as a source for recovery and feeling good. Sanatan, along with the support staff, remains a consistent support for me in my recovery. I never doubted him once and always looked forward to our appointments, even though I knew the session meant performing challenging exercises--done with proper form! Today, I walk pain-free without arch supports--relying on the strength of my own feet--and can even walk distances barefoot. I have moved on from physical therapy and still have the repertoire of exercises I learned from Sanatan. I have begun taking martial arts classes and feel strong enough to move ahead on my own. Thank you, Sanatan, for all that you've done with me and that I know you will continue to do with others.

Experiencia fantástica: I worked with Sanatan Golden for over a month in preparation for a 50k. I had several nagging injuries; some I have had for years. His attention to detail and ability to see the source of an issue made the difference. I was able to heal up these injuries, improve my mechanics, learn more about the body and successfully complete my first 50k. I highly recommend Sanatan.

Experiencia fantástica: Sanatan Golden is been a life saver. As a runner I'm very careful on ANY medical advise when it comes to running and working out. When I came to see Sanatan Golden my fears where taken away knowing that he fully gets it from my point of view as a runner. My injury started after the Portland marathon and had plans of the ultra in a few months. Looking back now this injury was such a blessing to me as it meant a major change in my form which will prevent a lot of injuries down the road. He walks the talk. Most doctors would say STOP, but Sanatan Golden said keep going, but with a totally new running form and care. When I first started I though the dreams of running a ultra marathon were gone, but now 6 months later I have more hope than ever with the ability to run 20 miles every weekend and feel totally fine the next day, just as if I ran a 5k. I never had that before. The most important thing is come with a open mind to be retrained, in the beginning it may seem slow, but his treatment will pay off BIG time.

Experiencia fantástica: I went to see Sanatan Golden after breaking my ankle and then getting a stress fracture in the same foot. Not only did he help increase my ankle and foot mobility, he also taught me how to run properly and educated me about foot and ankle health. He is a GREAT physical therapist for athletes because he, himself, is an athlete and understands exactly what an athlete wants to be capable of. Today I'm running farther and stronger than I ever have before, and it's all thanks to Sanatan!

Experiencia fantástica: I am a strong believer in the benefits of physical therapy for anyone with any kind of injury. It takes some work and dedication on the part of the patient, but when it means avoiding surgery, pain medication, expensive orthopedic shoes, or stopping your favorite exercise activities, then it is ALWAYS worth it! I saw Sanatan Golden at Therapeutic Associates for an injury I had from running (Posterior Tibialis Tendonitis was the diagnosis from Sanatan). Sanatan examined my muscle strength, my running stride, and my shoes and created a plan of muscle strengthening, stretching, running stride work and shoe changes. And...it worked! The best part, Sanatan never told me to stop running, he realized that running itself was not the problem, rather the problem arose within more of the fine details of running. I've had running friends say, "I don't want to go see a physical therapist for X, because they'll just tell me to stop running." But, that's not always true. In my case the physical therapist did not tell me to stop running and in the end I've become a stronger runner.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been thoroughly impressed with both therapists I have seen at Therapeutic Associates Downtown. My first therapist, Morgan, assisted me with an issue that pertained to my hip, after a groin surgery. She is about as friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, patient and thorough as I could possible have asked for her to be. Then, more recently, Sanatan has been a saving grace when it comes to my neck and knees. He was able to help me build a sound foundation of strength and body mechanics understanding, in order to get back on track with my fitness routine. He not only guided me through many levels of exercises while in the studio, but he was AWESOME enough to help me design a program to use at home in order to sustain all the great results we were able to achieve together!

Experiencia fantástica: I had a pulled Hamstring June 2012 and some lower back issues. I am a runner and my good friend Matt Blievernicht (also of Therapeutic Associates), recommended Sanatan. He had me on a slow and steady recovery program focusing on my back and glutes. Things are going well with the hammy Feb 2013. I am training for a 50K and averaging about 35-45mi/week. He practically cure me and now I’m walking and didn’t have to go to surgery. Also I have less pain, which was excruciating. For now I can delay my back surgery. The personnel there is lovely. I’m really graceful. Thank you guys.

I started coming for PT and as my outpatient therapies slowly felt like I was healed to the point that they couldn’t go further and I asked the PT here to implement exercises that incorporated my whole body and he was very accommodating. As well as being a wealth of information. I’ve had about five-six visits here, and I feel like my experience has been very personalized, and like I’m not just a cog in the machine, But an actual human being whose body isn’t divided up into occupational physical etc.

Experiencia fantástica: Amy is incredible. She’s the most knowledgeable and effective practitioner who I’ve ever worked with. I’m a longtime cyclist, but I’m not as young as I once was and I don’t have the magical healing powers of a 20 year old anymore. I’ve had some SI joint issues for quite a while, and my core has dwindled in strength from the pain I’ve been in. Amy was quickly able to see the pattern of issues and a path to recovery for me. The road to full recovery is long, but the 2 years of chronic pain that woke me up at night is gone from a handful of sessions with Amy. She’s been incredibly encouraging along the way and has helped me make some lifestyle changes that further contribute to better health. Amy is incredibly talented. And shoutout to John for being such a friendly, helpful and welcoming face when I come to visit. I’m incredibly grateful to have found this amazing group of people.

He was calm, listened well when I told him my issues and gave me excellent advice about how to proceed with my recovery. I am well on my path to recovery and Jordan deserves a lot of credit for that. Experiencia fantástica: I've been to Therapeutic Associates for 2 separate issues, and had great experiences both times. After an MRI and appointment with a DO, the doctor recommended Jordan Brandon at Therapeutic Associates Portland. I saw Jordon the first time for SI joint pain, and returned for an ankle injury and rotator cuff pain a couple years later, by which time he had returned to the clinic as a manager. I was glad to hear he would be my PT again. Not only did he and his support staff address the issues directly, but he educated me on proper mechanics, the lack of which were the cause of the problem in the first place. I have high expectations of my body, and I am very active. Jordan helps you heal the best you can, then manage your activity to be at your optimal physical health while minimizing injury. While there is no shortcut around the work, he will show you what to do, and the proper way to do it. Also everyone at the clinic is friendly, and it is a great space. I recommend it if you have an issue you'd like to address.

I had been trying to get over the injury for 4 months prior to coming to therapeutic associates. Great environment and really professional. 10/10 recommend. I am a student-athlete in college and I am extremely satisfied.

All of my questions were answered and I had a complete rehabilitation plan that was tailored my unique background and lifestyle to guide me back to my regular activities. Absolutely recommend this location for their wide variety of services and breadth of techniques to address a range of recoveries.

After evaluating me, he determined that in addition to some joint mobilization and instruction in a home exercise program, he also made me custom orthotics. He was able to evaluate my feet and make me a pair. I feel a lot better from my feet all the way to my lower back. I have more overall stability and strength when using them.

From the outset the staff was professional and treated me with concern and care. Therapist Romen Lu's knowledge of sports physiology and body mechanics is simply excellent. He quickly diagnosed the nature of my injury and devised a solid treatment plan to get me running again quickly, resulting in an overall improvement in my strength and balance. Tony was able to recognize my issue (I needed a hip replacement) when my doctors could not. I worked with Aulbrey to prepare for my surgery and it made all the difference in my speedy recovery. Post-surgery rehab was great. They knew just how to get me back to being better than ever. I was traveling, walking miles, hiking, and climbing pyramids within 4 months! From the moment I walked into their office I was struck with an organization, each and everyone, totally focused on me (at least I was made to feel that way). I was interviewed and the diagnosis was spot on. The in-house treatment and homework put me on a path to return to my pre-injury levels more quickly than I could have imagined. Tony never spared the rod when I stumbled which I appreciated and Aulbrey was a serious practitioner of her craft which kept me moving forward and on track. I owe so much to these two people.

Experiencia fantástica: I went to Therapeutic Associates Downtown Portland for pain, swelling and lack of motion in my right knee due a partial meniscus tear, arthritis and bone spurs. Tony and Aulbrey were great to work with, starting me on basic exercises to increase mobility and strength, gradually progressing as the knee improved. I especially appreciated their approach in prescribing home exercises that were effective, but not so time consuming that I might be inclined to skip them. In addition, they were very aware of what my goals were (return to running) and were willing to work with me toward that despite my sports orthopedist suggesting that probably wasn't in my future. With their guidance, recommendations and therapy, I've been able begin running again. I highly recommend this practice!
