Experiencia fantástica: I have had nothing but successful treatment from John. From unexpected, stabbing back pain to an unexpected and very painful bursitis in the hip and a painful shoulder, his diagnoses have been instantly accurate and the treatments have given me immediate relief - even when he said it might take a day or two to take effect. He then provides me with exercises to tone and/or stretch the muscles in the affected areas so that the problems do not re-occur. He has even improved my golf swing! Thanks goodness John.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I have both had excellent experiences with John Utz at Ultimate Treatment Zone. We are active, and have had varying issues with which we have needed his help, ranging from a painful neck disc problem to vertigo to joint pain. I've worked in health care a long time, and I think what sets John apart from other physical therapists is that his compassion compliments his extensive knowledge and experience. In our sessions with him, he prioritized symptom management first, so we were ready to proceed with other treatments and exercises. He demonstrated urgency to help get the pain (or dizziness) under control, which was a big relief and exactly what we needed before moving forward. We also found that he helped with long term maintenance of our improvements, not just fixing the immediate problem. As an independent clinic, John runs his business as he believes will be best for his patients. Yes, it is still a business, but I truly believe John thrives on helping people. As a patient, I hold responsibility for following his recommendations, doing my home program, etc. That holds true for success with any health care provider. But working with John, when I have the unfortunate need to do so, has resulted in not only full restoration, but improvement of my pre-injury level of function. I have recommended him to many of my friends, who are also very happy they chose to see him.

In both instances, he's gone above and beyond what I expected from therapy. Megan, his office manager, always made sure I had the appointments I needed, when I needed them, even though at times it required me to be on the cancellation list. She always made it work. My first day there I could barely walk after playing sports and John clearly explained to me what the problem was and how I should go about resolving it. Within a month I was running again and on my way back to playing sports. He also told me how my condition was affecting my golf swing, which was really helpful.

Experiencia fantástica: John has the most effective approach to physical therapy I have ever experienced or seen in this city. I say this from both a patient perspective and someone who has worked in the medical field in Tucson for 25 years. Here, you won’t be passed off to a physical therapy assistant who has a less than complete grasp on exactly how to perform the few exercises assigned to you. My experience with John and Ashley is head and shoulders above any other facility in this city. Their evaluations are so thorough, and you are evaluated every visit. You are provided exercises when appropriate, and they will photograph you performing the exercises while maintaining correct positioning, then they send you home with pictures of and instructions for each exercise and how to do them correctly. Your time is clinic is spent finding the actual sources of your pain or discomfort and treating them with any number of hands-on methods that the therapists are proficient at. Bottom line is that you won’t find a better PT office in Tucson or the surrounding areas.

Experiencia fantástica: Starting in January, I was experiencing pain in my right leg. It gradually worsened until I saw John. At the first visit with him, he recommended trying dry needling. It was amazing. Immediate relief of the pain in my thigh. After that, we worked on other aspects of my leg pain issue. Due to the nonspecific symptoms, it was difficult to pin down the best way to treat, but John wouldn't give up. After a couple months, I am now back to walking normally and climbing stairs without problems. My sleeping is back to normal as well, thank goodness. The best part about UTZ is that I wasn't shuffled off to an assistant. Each visit was entirely spent with John, the PT. The reception staff were also great and welcoming. This was by far THE BEST encounter with physical therapy I have had. Thanks, John, for your persistence in the face of my somewhat difficult diagnosis/problems. You're the best!

The office staff have worked diligently to help me get appointments scheduled so there wouldn’t be a break in my treatment. Experiencia fantástica: When I injured my shoulder, I sought out Physical Therapy with John Utz. He had been recommended as the best PT in Tucson. Because there were a lot of trigger points (knots) in my shoulder, John suggested Dry Needling to get them to release. I was afraid to try Dry Needling but, because I trusted John, I let him do it. I am so glad I did! In the short time we have worked together (just a couple of weeks), and I already have less pain and increased mobility.

Experiencia fantástica: I've been in and out of physical therapy for the past 15 years for chronic spine issues. This place is, hands down, the best I've been to. The therapists and the rest of the staff have all been amazing. I've seen both John and Ashely. They both ask good questions about my issue and to top that off, they both know how to listen when I answer. They showed me some simple-to-do, low-impact exercises and after just one week from my first visit, I was already feeling stronger and in less pain. Coupled with my stem cell therapy, I feel like I'm finally on the path to long term recovery.

Experiencia fantástica: These guys are miracle workers! As a retired Occupational Therapist I was used to being on the other side of a treatment table. But following a cardiac surgical procedure last fall, occasional back & right hip discomfort became center of all decisions I was making as discomfort moved into severe pain. Static sitting, standing activities stopped. Art, music, writing stopped. After 5 therapy sessions & a strong home program of exercises designed for my needs I am painting again, playing Chopin again on the piano, & on last act of play I was asked to write for a local community theater group. These guys are the best!

The receptionist, Michelle, was kind, cooperative, and able to flexibly schedule my appointments around a busy work schedule. I had the opportunity to have my soreness evaluated and treated by Laurie and Ashley, who both did spectacular jobs assessing the problem and helping me to find exercises and stretches that resolved my problems! The therapists are tremendously knowledgeable and personable, which allowed for them to not only fix my issues, but also to take my lifestyle and goals into account when dealing with my pain. From my first phone call with Michelle to schedule my first appointment to my last visit, I found the entire staff to be exceptionally professional and friendly. Experiencia fantástica: On three occasions in the past 15 years, I have needed the services of a physical therapists. Thankfully, back in 2007 my father said I should go see John Utz at Ultimate Treatment Zone. In 2007, when I came to see John, I could barely stand up straight due to lower back pain and core muscle weakness. After 5 weeks with John, I was able to head out on my own with a plan in place that has kept me fit and exercising to this day. In 2019, I was dealing with an injury to my lower abdomen. I went to see John and after a thorough evaluation, John recommended that I see a former colleague of his that specialized in this area. As we all know, most physical therapist business owners do not send clients to another business, however, John is not most physical therapists. John always puts his client’s needs first. Now to my most recent therapy needs, glute medius muscle spasms. Sounds minor, however, it turned into the loss of ability to tie my shoes, bend over, and brought on sciatica pain. I am now completing 6 weeks of therapy with John and I have graduated back to exercising on a regular basis and not only has he solved my spasms, but John has also given me a plan to increase my foundational core strength to help prevent future injuries. As a native Tucsonan, our community is extremely lucky to have a physical therapist with the knowledge, aptitude, and compassion of John Utz.

Experiencia fantástica: In my younger days, before UTZ, I've had PT with some of the best PT's in town (the ones that treat the athletes at the UofA), and in my opinion UTZ is as good or better. I worked with John & Carlee, and with their help I was able to resume my weight lifting the same as before my injury. Utilizing the form, stretches, and additional exercises they showed me of course. When I called to arrange my first appointment, Michelle was able to schedule me for the following week and took my insurance information and had everything completed when I came in for my appointment. In all the following appointments she was able to schedule me and would call me to change times if she needed to juggle appointments. When I missed a session, she called me 15 min. later to check on me and reschedule the appointment. John was my primary therapist. I felt very comfortable with his instructions and exercises. When he said, "Let me get my hands on you" I found out that a great stretching and massage was to follow. He was able to massage my shoulder muscles enabling me to have a much greater range of motion. I think that my recovery has been quicker because of his care. I have had physical therapy before and found that John is really excellant.

Experiencia fantástica: I was very happy with my care at Ultimate Treatment Zone! I worked exclusively with Ashley and couldn't be more pleased with my therapy and recovery. I had a rotator cuff injury and felt that Ashley was highly skilled and innovative in my treatments. It wasn't the same old repetitive exercise type of care that I have received at previous physical therapy establishments. She always had new routines and did a nice combination of manual therapy, stretching and strength training exercises. Highly recommended!!

I’ve always led an active life (swimming/jogging/tennis) so my chronic pain had resulted in serious interruptions to my life. I worked most closely with John, and less frequently with Ashley. They are friendly, but focused on helping me get better, including a very difficult range of motion for my left wrist. They use several techniques to speed the repair process. As an independent physical therapy practice, I receive custom individual treatment, they take time to listen to me, and they encourage me to work hard on my therapy outside of the clinic. UTZ is THE physical therapy practice IF YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE BEST RESULTS.

Experiencia fantástica: At 74 years old I, George, had long standing back pain and poor posture. I had lost 3 inches in height. John watched me walk and is now he and his staff is putting me thru a step by step program. He works on my tight muscles and joints in 45 minute sessions. He takes pictures of one new stretching pose per session. His mantra is lighter longer stretches stopped well short of pain and possible injury. It works! I am regaining my flexibility because I do my homework. I put on my c-Pap, lay on my back and hold my stretches for 5 minutes at a time while focusing on training my muscles to move from pain to no pain. It is like magic. Without a proper guide you can hurt yourself. John provides the tools for safe proper change. I must learn to control my muscles that I never thought about trying to control before and put in the time stretching and relearn how to properly stand and move in my daily activities. I'm George the father of Stephen who uses my computer far more than I so his name is on this post which I am, alas, unable to change. But my family and friends can affirm my improvement.

He is an excellent diagnostician, and offers practical and appropriate exercises at a measured pace His next-door proximity to a well-equipped gym makes it possible to convert what I learn to another gym environment. After three years of extremely painful and very limited mobility due to an ankle problem (not helped by other medical professionals) he diagnosed the problem on my first visit. It was addressed and I have been walking again without pain. Genius? His office staff is excellent, as is a second therapist I have seen there.

Experiencia fantástica: Oh my gosh, Dr. Utz is a stellar physical therapist! He is very thorough in his explanations, yet at the same time he manages to keep things super simple and manageable. He has worked closely with me to heal my shoulder by having me do a variety of strengthening exercises both at home and at his office. He has also worked with me in gym which is attached to his office, where I have used a variety of weight training machines.AT the end of each 40 min session he comes up with an at home treatment plan, which is very helpful! After a severe knee injury & surgery I was in a brace for 7 1/2 weeks and I had 0 mobility & 0 strength - when I got to their office I was scared & in pain and they slowly and patiently worked with me. Today, after 3 weeks, I am walking normally without pain!! I just did 15 minutes on the stationary bike & 15 minutes on the treadmill!! These therapists spend time with you individually (they don't send you off to an assistant) and they know what they're doing!! Go here!! Don't go anywhere else!!

My primary physician referred me to Ultimate Treatment Zone for physical therapy. John Utz, the owner, did an evaluation and pinpointed my problems and instantly developed a treatment plan, which include but was not limited to dry needle therapy. The dry needle therapy was extraordinarily effective and provided instant relief; I was totally amazed at how effective the dry needle therapy was. I highly recommmed dry needl if recommended by John. John and Mike also treated me with Acupressure, which also was completely effective. John has also taught me several effective exercises that I and do at home and provides photos of me doing the exercises to improve my posture. I have experienced a 90%+ improvement since beginning therapy. Jodi, at the front desk, is excellent in that she communicates perfectly and makes scheduling appointments effortless. Experiencia fantástica: Sometimes there are no words and my fear is the people will think I am exaggerating. Trust me when I say every word of this is heartfelt. I have been in chronic pain for months and months with part sciatica and part bulging disks. The pain was beginning to impact my quality of life and my overall attitude. When my primary care doc recommended I go to physical therapy, I was totally reluctant. I didn't feel like travelling across town to do reps on some machine. Well BIG SURPRISE. Enter Jenn Han - the miracle worker. I braced myself for the first visit getting ready to work the machines. I could not have been more off. Jenn asked me lots of questions and listened to my answers. Then she started to work her magic. She said "things are far too inflamed for me to start having you do any exercises. We need to calm things down first." For at least the next 8 -10 sessions she worked on my body and every time I went my pain lessened, my spirits were brighter and my commitment to being completely healthy came back. When things did calm down, Jenn gave me simple exercises that are beginning to strengthen the area causing me such pain and convinced me to use ice on a regular basis when there is a flare up. If you live in Tucson and have any any pain you want to get rid of, I would recommend your taking the time to seek out Jenn Han and have her work her miracles. She is competent, kind, fun, funny and she really really listens. I have my health back and I have her to thank for that. I feel very blessed.
