Alan provided excellent care and advice on what I needed to do to gain more strength and balance to support the knee. I am now able to go on multi-mile hikes with no more pain! The Central Square Bay State PT was efficiently run, clean and a very friendly atmosphere.

I went from not being able to walk without a limp, to 95% normal activity. My therapist Nestor is incredibly good at his job, knowledgeable, thoughtful, detail oriented, kind, and patient. I would absolutely recommend this practice.

Experiencia fantástica: I cannot recommend this spot enough. The facilities are clean, the practitioners are professional and thorough, and the front office is quick to settle any questions about payment or scheduling. I have been to PT in other cities where you don't get much attention, or any explanation on what the exercises are doing, places where you feel like you're wasting their time - working with Nestor and his team could not have been further from that. Nestor spent time going through the exercises with me - explaining why we were doing them and how it would help diminish my pain and increase my mobility and flexibility. He tweaked the program when I had a flare up (lower back pain) outside of our sessions, and clearly put in time after-hours planning out different ways to tackle the problems I was having. On multiple occasions, he came in and started applying techniques he'd learned at recent seminars or through recent certifications. He was always professional and kind and his sense of humor made PT very easy to motivate for. He (and the rest of the team at BSPT!) clearly care about their clients' well-being and do their best to get them to a stronger, healthier place. Lots of gratitude for Nestor and co!

After 3 months of PT, now I can go back to kickboxing and lift weights. People at BSPT are a team! They work together to make sure you get back to your normal life asap. This time, I gained TONS of knowledge on how body works and how to do exercise safely.

Experiencia fantástica: My experience at Bay State Physical Therapy - Central Square was awesome. I worked with Jolene to rehab my shoulder after getting a SLAP tear surgery. She was very good at 1) listening to my specific needs 2) being creative with the exercises and 3) bringing her full attention to the job. My shoulder is now back to its full strength and mobility. I highly recommend BSPT and Jolene!

My first session was an initial assessment which included a detailed review of my sports history, an understanding of the actions that caused my injury, and an examination of the affected area. From there, Nestor developed a comprehensive strategy which included a timeline for recovery and return to sport. The entire process was collaborative and informative with a true sense of sympathetic professionalism. My specific ailment required multi-month engagement with the folks at BSPT. Each session, Nestor was actively involved in my care, answering any questions I had while pushing me to continue to progress. He went out of his way to make himself available and even checked in with me outside our times at the office. I am stronger and better equipped to succeed in my sport thanks to his knowledge and insight. I highly recommend the services of BSPT, Nestor especially, for your physical therapy needs.

I came in post surgery on crutches and he diligently worked with me to build back my strength and mobility faster than I had anticipated (and faster than the doctors projected!). My trap/shoulder pain is completely gone, and I am back to my usual gym routine including bench, squat, etc. When I came in, the pain was bad and keeping me up at night. Thanks to Nestor for taking good care of me! From explaining MRI results, listening carefully to my symptoms, teaching me exercises, massage and dry needling, and even ‘debugging’ my squat and bench form to help me achieve my fitness goals. I can highly recommend the Central Square Bay State Physical Therapy and would quickly see Nestor again for any future pain/injury.

Experiencia fantástica: Nothing had helped my neck pain in the year I've been working at it myself but Nestor was able to help me figure out what I needed to do to strengthen the particular muscles and reduce my pain levels significantly and gave me the tools to keep up with it at home. 15/10 recommend BSPT, and will be returning if needed. With her guidance and patience I progressed from struggling to get up my two story entrance to strolling the stair-laden “streets” and hills of Lisbon pain free. Kayla not only gave me excellent direction, but comforted me when I struggled and kept me motivated to reach my goals. I got to know the friendly staff, and looked forward to stepping through the door to see everyone before my appointments. Anajuh answered all my billing questions, and the whole staff, Jordan, Sam, Sydney, and others whose names I can’t remember were always on the lookout, ready to step in and help with questions. Seems a little weird to be saying this about a clinic, but I’m actually going to miss it. My gratitude to Kayla and the team knows no bounds!!!

Experiencia fantástica: Just walked out of my last session and I’ve been dying to write this review. I’ve been going to Bay State since November for piriformis syndrome and have been working with Sam Gomes. I’ve been in and out of PT ever since high school and this has by far been the best experience I’ve ever had—not because my other PT clinics have been bad, mind you, but because of how excellent Sam and all the staff at Bay State Cambridge are. On the physical side, I had started going due to a nerve pain that would sometimes render me unable to get out of bed. My leg would literally buckle sporadically and the episodes were unpredictable and could last for anywhere from a few days to over a week. When we started, Sam was very informative and helped me understand what was going on with my body and taught me how each step of treatment was going to work, which really helped motivate me to keep up with my stretches at home. Bay State also uses a mobile app for your at-home routine which was SO helpful and convenient. 4 months later and my episodes are way more infrequent and even when it happens, I know exactly what to do and it actually WORKS. It’s been empowering not only to not have relief from the pain but to actually know what to do when it flares up. Aside from that though, I cannot stress enough how pleasant the whole staff are. The Front Desk Agent I saw the most was Anajah and she was so kind and helpful—billing and insurance can be an intimidating thing but I always felt like she was on my side and willing to help me understand. Sam herself was so positive and encouraging and genuinely seemed to care about not only my health but who I was. There were many times over the past four months where I’d come in after having a horrible day and I’d always leave our sessions feeling so much better. TLDR; I have so much gratitude for this entire team and they have my wholehearted endorsement for those in search of an excellent PT office. They are professional, personable, transparent, knowledgeable, and are a huge asset for the road to recovery. 5/5 stars, hands down no doubt in my mind.

Experiencia fantástica: I did six months of physical therapy at Bay State in Central Square and am extremely grateful for my time there. Kayla (my primary therapist) was AMAZING - from my first visit she was very thorough and spent a lot of time working to understand my specific symptoms and issues, which had not been the case with several other specialists I had seen in the past. She was extremely clear when demonstrating techniques and had a remarkable sense of when to push me and how much to keep me moving forward. Over the course of my six months I had the opportunity to work with about half a dozen members of the Central Square team and every single one without exception was encouraging, helpful, and deeply compassionate - both to me and to other patients I would witness in passing. It's a really special group of people and I can't recommend them enough. Many thanks to all of them.

I primarily worked with Sam, though saw a few other PT's here and there (shoutout to Kayla and Nestor!). Sam was incredibly knowledgeable and patient throughout my recovery process, explaining exercises fully and being flexible with appointment availability. Everyone from the front desk to all the physical therapists and aids here are warm, welcoming, and fun to talk to during sessions. Absolutely recommend- plus they put on some great music!

Having been to many PT clinics in the past decade, this one was BY FAR the best experience and outcomes I have had. Experiencia positiva: First time having physical therapy; I heard good things about Bay State from clients… the only thing I didnt like was that they book on the half hr - your appt is 50 mins - so the therapist goes back and forth between 2 people. I was informed this is a standard practice with insurance. Otherwise the front desk and staff are very friendly, my therapist is great - I’ve felt some improvement after a few sessions!

I worked with Lauren Cruz for over a year on ACL and meniscus recovery and couldn't recommend her more! She personalized my care towards my injury, my ability, and my preferences. It was a lot of hard work but also fun, and she made me look forward to the recovery process! Also worked with Ben, Jolene, and Nestor at times and would recommend any of the staff to anyone looking for PT!

Experiencia fantástica: I worked with Nestor and Jo for PT on my knee (PCL sprain/partial tear). BSPT was awesome: no wait times, always clean, and amazingly helpful and *coordinated* staff. I felt like everyone understood my care plan, and the exercises felt targeted to building toward a specific, measurable goal. Highly recommend!

The ambient music is great, the entire place is very clean, there's a hydration station for when you need a break, etc. Having said that, it is evident from the moment you walk in that the core of Bay State is the people who work there. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very great at what they do, but more than anything, Bay State is full of positive and fun people that create such a wonderful atmosphere! I personally worked primarily with Precious and Jolene, but I am confident that you cannot go wrong by working with anyone at Bay State!

They made my injury go from excruciating to manageable. From the moment you walk in the doors, I was always greeted by name and welcomed in with a smile and asked how I was. The physical therapists are all fantastic and I had the pleasure of being seen by several of them throughout my time of care: Kayla, Samantha, Nestor, Alan, and Itua. Each and every single one of them made me feel incredibly welcome and were so kind to me. They all made me feel so comfortable and really helped me feel better. They really took the time to get to know me and truly listened to what I was saying. My strength and range of motion improved drastically from the exercises and care they gave me. The soft tissue work they did really coaxed my muscles to loosen. I was helped tremendously at Bay State and honestly looked forward to going to every appointment. The environment is so warm and friendly, and everyone works hard to ensure that I was taken care of. Kayla, was my main PT that I saw and she honestly is the best! She was so encouraging, sweet, and pushed me to the amount I needed to be pushed. I truly will miss seeing her and everyone else at Bay state! She always was able to make adjustments for me and help me in the right way I needed. On my last session, she made sure to focus on the exercises I should concentrate on moving forward and gave me a plan for the future! If you are injured, this is the place to go to get better. They really worked with me and never gave up on me no matter how my day was going. I also cannot recommend the dry needling treatment I got done with Nestor enough. It really really helped in my treatment and he made sure that every session went smoothly and that I was comfortable. He explained the process before hand and made sure that I understood what to expect. He truly took away my nerves for the treatment and was calming. I cant recommend everyone enough here. Even the co-ops like Mariela and Vaughn were so amazing. Thank you everyone at Bay State for giving me the best care, motivation to get better, and help me for the future. I will truly miss the kind people I got to know over the past several months and hope to visit when I am in the area again to say hi. I love you all and miss you already.

Experiencia fantástica: Over the year that I went to Bay State for issues with my knee, back and wrist, I have worked with primarily Nestor and Jolene. I have also had the chance to work with Lauren and Kayla who have been absolutely wonderful. The PTs were very welcoming, knowledgeable, encouraging and willing to patiently clarify the diagnosis, exercise program and any questions I had. Following the program has helped me tremendously with pain management, range of motion and strength which was my goal. Also, a huge shoutout to the lovely front desk staff and PT students!

But the real highlight of my experience was working with Jolene, who is without a doubt the most outstanding physical therapist I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Jolene truly embodies what it means to be an excellent professional in her field. Her expertise is evident in the thoroughness of her assessments, her tailored treatment plans, and her genuine dedication to helping her patients achieve their goals. Her understanding of the human body and biomechanics, made her the best PT for me— I felt like I could ask her all my random questions about working out and she always had an insightful answer. As someone who has been strength training 5 years now, I still felt like I was learning new things each session with Jolene. But what truly sets Jolene apart is her personality. She is an absolute joy to be around! Her fun, positive, and engaging energy made every session a highlight of my week. I wholeheartedly recommend Bay State (I went to central square but I imagine all of them are just as great!), and Jolene specifically, to anyone in need of PT. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. Jolene's professionalism, expertise, and fun-loving nature make her a true gem in the world of physical therapy!

Experiencia fantástica: I came to Bay State for my lower-back pain which I had for several years due to sports and sitting down a long time for work. I was lucky to meet Kayla who has been a very attentive, knowledgeable and pragmatic physical therapist. She paid close attention to my ups-and-downs during my recovery journey, adapted treatment plans accordingly and equipped me with the right set of mobility and strength exercises, which led to tangible improvements I never expected. Her positive attitude and encouragements as well as the measurable mobility/strength improvements gave me the confidence to get back into sports/activities I thought I might have to forgo. Also, the staff at the clinic is always positive, understanding, helpful and efficient!

Experiencia fantástica: 7 months ago I called their clinic the day after getting a referral, and within 10 days I had my first two appointments with Kayla the PT, who would help me make vast improvements in my holistic joint health from my hips and lower back to my shoulders and wrists. She brought such positive warmth and genuine care to every appointment. Most important of all she helped develop an analytical and long-term treatment plan to my chronic health issues. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the whole Bay State team, who all greeted me with friendliness and personality every day. Shoutouts to Nester the dry needle guy, the front desk workers, and all the rehab aides. Such a great experience, exemplary physical therapy. 12/10 stars

Experiencia fantástica: I tore my shoulder in a climbing accident and had to get surgery with a 6 month recovery time. I went to Bay State in Central Square for the PT and my experience was fantastic. I mainly worked with Kayla and she was amazing, as were all the therapists I worked with over the 6 months. My surgeon said it was maybe the best progress he’d seen at a 6 month checkup for my surgery. Definitely a good place to go if you need any physical therapy.

Experiencia fantástica: Kayla Pinzur and team (Brooke and Megan) have been absolutely fantastic. Kayla is a highly skilled physical therapist and therapeutic clinician, not to mention simply lovely person. She gained my trust from the get-go with her thorough (and spot-on!) diagnosis and plan, which she explained clearly and in a way that has been consistently empowering. She has been a steady guide through the inevitable ups and downs of any PT, which has significantly improved my strength and body awareness so that I feel I’m back to activities I love and on the path forward with a much stronger foundation. Grateful to have such caring and enthusiastic clinicians as Kayla and her student assistants Brooke and Megan. Shout out also to the lovely front desk staff!!

They met my rehabilitation objectives with excellence in a cordial and respectful environment. They have earned from me five out of five stars. My experience at Bay State has been happy, starting with the incredibly friendly receptionists. In short, everyone there is highly competent and provides care with first-rate professional talent. The atmosphere is clean, spacious, and accompanied by pleasant music. I highly recommend Bay State!

Everyone at this practice is friendly, knowledgable and fun to work with. They create a welcoming and relaxed environment where patients will be heard and cared for. I left every appointment feeling encouraged and more comfortable in my body.

Experiencia fantástica: This is the best Physical Therapy spot in the Boston/Cambridge area! I was recommended to come here after a prolonged hip injury, and they got me feeling great with the tools to maintain the tightness/restrictions. I specifically worked with Kayla, and she is phenomenal. She is extremely knowledgeable and tailors the PT for your needs. I come from an athlete background, and she knew how to push my exercises similar to how I would attack PT during my playing days. She is attentive and provides good advice to improve form on exercises/movements. This place has an amassing atmosphere from the front desk to the physical therapists. You won’t miss trying this place out!

Experiencia fantástica: I immediately felt welcomed at Bay State PT Cambridge. The atmosphere was very positive and encouraging. Every Physical therapist provided top therapy and care and knew when to push me harder for better improvement. L I felt myself improving and getting stronger week by week. Most of my sessions were led by Nestor Canenguez who was very personable yet led his sessions very professionally. Nestor provided a lot of attention to my case and took the time to understand what was working and not working for me. He always checked in to see how the activities were going and I was very fortunate to have Nestor as my primary therapist.

My primary PT, Nestor, always took my concerns seriously and knew when to push harder or pull back to avoid injury. Experiencia fantástica: I have been seeing my wonderful physical therapist Kayla for about a month due to a head/neck injury. It was my first time going to physical therapy and her care and professionalism made me feel welcome and comfortable. I knew I was in good hands after my first visit. The exercises she had me do were challenging at first but they are helping me regain mobility and strength in my upper body. I also enjoyed working with other awesome PTs, Nestor and Jolene who are both very knowledgeable and supportive! I leave feeling encouraged and motivated every time I leave their office. Thank you! The facility is clean and everyone is very nice & great at what they do (special shoutout to PT assistants, Brook and Meagan and the lovely ladies at the front desk)! Highly recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: Bay State Physical is a wonderful office. Everyone is incredibly welcoming and helpful. I saw Dr. Nestor for persistent back pain and his carefully curated plan helped eliminate any lingering pain I had. After my first month of care, my pain had decreased and I had learned multiple tools to combat flare ups. He really worked with me to build a consistent routine I could implement at home, and listened to any concerns I had. He (and really everyone who worked there) was great at explaining every exercise and what it’s function was. On a logistics note, the office is great at accommodating your schedule. I can’t recommend Bay State enough.

Experiencia fantástica: I’m a doctor and had an excellent experience working with Ben (90% of time and Nick 10% of time) for Achilles rupture recovery after surgery for about 10 months and my girlfriend worked with Jolene for about 6 months for lumbar disc herniation recovery after surgery. Would definitely recommend my patients to see them. It was a slow but steady recovery for me but they kept chugging along with me. It was nice to see the growth of the facility from when I started to the time I finished. The majority of the PT students they had serving as PT assistants were good too. This is a long overdue post and I’m happy to see Ben and Nick expanded into Porter Square too.

Experiencia fantástica: I went to Bay State for almost a year to recover from achilles tendon surgery. I had a great experience, and my PT Jolene worked with me to help me reach my goal of being able to run again pain free. I also worked with several other great PTs (shout out to Nestor , Ben, and many others!) the whole staff was friendly and helpful. I am so happy to running again and so grateful to Jolene and Bay State!

Experiencia fantástica: I chose BSPT mainly because it was a 10 minute walk from my apartment and I’m so happy I did! I have received PT at various other locations (I get injured frequently) and this was by far the best experience I’ve had. Shout out to Nestor for getting me into better shape with my knees than I was before. He was adamant that I will be able to get back to all the activities I was in before the injury and that kind of mindset was refreshing. The atmosphere is super friendly and laid back which is nice as well. I always enjoyed coming here and I’m kind of sad I have to go. If you’re looking for someplace to go for PT then I suggest you go here. I have only been to the central square location so I can’t speak for any others. My husband recently injured his shoulder and I had him set up an appointment here. Also, if you are inured and your doctor recommends you go to PT then go to PT because it really does matter and makes a world of difference.
