Experiencia negativa: It was a dream come true when my eighty-five year old mom was accepted to Neville & she arrived on 9/3/24, which is the day that I gave permission for her to get the COVID shot, which I gave her ASAP when it was available & she lived with me. She was recovering from becoming dehydrated at an Assisted Living Residence on the South Shore, Windrose at Weymouth, her first serious physical setback (even a stroke didn't stop her & she danced & was more physically fit than the staff at ALR) & was wheelchair bound for the first time in her life. I was impressed at the physical & occupational therapy. It was only after she tested positive for COVID on 11/6/24 that I was told that Neville never gave her the COVID shot! Apparently they were waiting for 4 more people to get it. Well Mom is dying & as far as I know, she gets to suffer by herself & 4 more people aren't coming with her. Apparently residents aren't required to get the shot, which is why COVID is running through the place. If your family member is there, do not assume that they are OK or received the shot. If they do not have COVID, arrange to get the shot immediately. Edit: reply to the owner's response: The Executive Director is welcome to come upstairs to meet me. I'm teleworking beside my mom's bed waiting for hospice to arrive on 11/19/24. To everyone else: I'll update if the ED reaches out to me, but I'm not holding my breath. Edit: Met with ED on 11/20/24. Claims: conducting internal investigation; policy is to give the shot once requested; nurse suspended & audit to make sure that everyone who wants the shot will get it. Theory vs reality. Edit: Mom died at 6:48 pm on 11/22/24.

Experiencia negativa: My relative who is there has moderate dementia and diabetes, and is on insulin. He asks the nurses for Coke (not Diet Coke) and they give it to him, even though he's not supposed to be consuming sugar and they know it! Then they test his blood sugar and it's off the charts. When I asked them to bring him a diet beverage instead, they said they don't have any diet beverages! This happened 3 times when I visited, so this is clearly their default! The "food" is is disgusting and looks like cat food smeared on a plate. Probably is cat food. My relative is miserable there. Many of the employees there are very nice, but the facility is terribly understaffed, so they just put all patients in dirty rooms and slap a diaper on these poor elderly people and leave them lying in filth. I could hear people crying for help, to no avail. Makes me so sad.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband was at Neville twice in the past year for extended rehab due to heart valve disease. We were both pleased with the care and attention he received there: we particularly liked the physical settting adjacent to the Fresh Pond Reservation. Lots of wheelchair walks there! The staff is professional and compassionate: they we’re particularly flexible about his need for more exercise. Recommended highly.

Experiencia positiva: I stayed in Neville center for 2 weeks for rehabilitation from a hip replacement surgery. Many good people in the care giving team with only very few bad apples. Unfortunately there wasn’t even one day where my food restrictions were followed. I’m writing to praise the PT department. They were amazing! I especially got helped from Jenifer and Stephan but I witnessed the amazing job others such as Vivian and Andy did with people who really needed help. Working individually or in a group, while using music and movement in creative manners. It was uplifting to watch the joy and effort every one put into the activities that were so challenging for injured people. I feel so much stronger and balanced while walking now, going up or down stairs lifting up my legs sitting or even dancing!! The PT team equipped me with everything I needed for my healing journey. Thank you so much!

Experiencia negativa: I just visited on 7/14/2024. I have my aunt at this center and previously had my father in the facility. When I arrived at my aunt's room, she was wedged in the door of the bathroom in her wheelchair and the nurse call button beeping. I asked if she called for assistance and she informed me she pressed her button 20 minutes ago and was tiered of waiting. She wanted to try and get to the bathroom before she had an accident, to late she said. When my wife went to the nurses station to ask for help, there were 2 nurses watching a video on a cellphone laughing. One was the head supervisor for the floor. Response to my wife when she asked them to assist was, we know we are waiting for the assistant. It was totally shocking to have very little response from nurses and spoken to with such disrespect. It was another 15 minutes untill my aunts needs were met. I would rethink using this facility if it is offered to you. My aunt does not suffer from cognitive decline so I believe her when she is upset and tearing up about her care. To be clear this was the Cambridge Massachusetts center. Neville rehabilitation center on concord ave.

Experiencia negativa: They have not been able to meet my mom’s needs. She has been miserable. I have not been able to reach supervisors to try to problem solve. The place smells like urine and there are parts of her medical equipment that I found on the floor.

Experiencia negativa: After my surgery the plan was to stay at the rehab for a week or two.The food was horrible. Many of the staff had zero training and very unprofessional. The place was so bad that after a few days I decided to leave.Some of the physical therapists were fine. but generally speaking, I would not recommend this place for my enemy.

Experiencia negativa: An absolutely terrible place for a rehabilitation center. My mother stayed here during her recovery and they did little to help her. It's dirty, unprofessional, and disorganized. They refused to transfer her to a better facility and lied about the drugs she used during her stay. Their entire operation is aimed to extract money from their vulnerable patients.

Experiencia negativa: I am concerned about the care my friend is getting. She reported that she is unhappy with how she is being treated. She said aides lack training. She had trouble getting out of bed and instead of being helped she was told to make it snappy. She was left in the bathroom at night without being able to reach the call button. She had to scream for help and no one came until her roommate went looking for someone. Her roommate noticed a medication error. When I was there I could hear someone screaming "nurse, nurse". There were employees in the hallway but they didn't seem concerned. They appear to be very short staffed.

Experiencia negativa: Dealing with Neville Center for approximately 2 years for the care of my loved one with dementia was perhaps the most painful and excruciating experience of my life. While certain individual aides, nurses and therapists were good, the overall experience of this facility is not 5 stars. Intermittent medication errors, overall treatment delays, room heating / cooling issues, organizational inefficiency and overall poor dementia programming were present the entire time. In addition, there were safety issues when an unattended violent resident was allowed to wander multiple times into my immobile and frail loved one’s room. I had to constantly advocate for my loved one to get desired outcomes. The ombudsman program is not a source of valid or strong influence to enact necessary changes. I would not recommend this facility. It should be noted that there are gaps in the nursing home industry overall and Neville is no exception.

Experiencia fantástica: My mom stayed here for a little over week, after a short stay in the hospital. My mom was very weak due to a viral infection but I saw daily improvements. The staff is very friendly and responsive. I am very happy that we chose this facility.

Experiencia negativa: I was there for a few weeks summer 2023 to rehab from surgeries. They said the first floor was just for rehab and the rest nursing home. I am a nurse. From my experience there I wouldn’t send my worst enemy there. On the positive side, there were three nurses there that I found to be great. The rest I wouldn’t have let touch my loved one. I had to show two nurses how to empty my drains. These drains have been used for well over forty years and a child could empty them. My doctor said they were not recording the drainage correctly and wrote orders only I was to empty them and record it. They did not take the same care as the nurses in the hospital did when caring for my PICC line. They wouldn’t listen. I was scared it would get infected from the casual way it was cleaned. I could die if it got infected. The food was disgusting. I lost weight due to some of it being inedible. As an example. I was served ice cold egg whites and a piece of barely toasted toast. Nothing in the egg whites, not even seasoning. And again, not room temp, but ice cold. I finally started ordering door dash. The staff didn’t blink an eye and even suggested places. The aides are not well trained and the training they do have is for nursing home care, not rehab. Big difference. Only a few were responsive to the needs of the patients. Several were outright rude and I ended up having to help my roommate stand up for herself. The facility was filthy. I was in a room y myself at first and when I went in the bathroom the equipment from the last patient was still on the toilet and her toothbrush still on a ledge. I saw how the other bed in my room was stripped down, not cleaned, and made up again the person went through the drawers and closet and things removed, but nothing was ever wiped down. It made me sick. I reported it and someone else came and redid things but that was not acceptable either. They were not well trained. At night it was not uncommon to hear someone fall. They seemed to specialize in people post hip fracture. I did not have anything like a fracture and most didn’t seem to quite know what to do with me. The staffing was atrocious. How these people work in this place is beyond me. The people that own and run it seem to be out for maximum profit and don’t appear to care about their staff or patients. The PT and his trainee were great. Bright spots in an otherwise nightmarish stay. As I said, I wouldn’t send my worst enemy there.

Experiencia negativa: Some nurses were very good. Most should not be working in a rehab facility with people. Call buttons are never answered in a timely manner! The food is horrible, barely edible. Some staff are very arrogant.

Experiencia negativa: One to 2 hours for someone to respond to pressing your help button. You don't get to order what you want to eat from their Cafe. Rehab workouts standard as anywhere else. Lazy workstaff due to payscale.

The nurses, certified nursing assistants (CNAs), front desk and custodial staff are uniformly attentive, kind, and first-rate professionals. They know that it’s more than a patient they serve: it’s the wider human need for dignity, respect, compassion, and trust. Kudos to all who helped my friend get back on his feet, and for all the good cheer along the way.

Experiencia negativa: My father was sent here after spine surgery. Within 24 hours, he was laying on a bed with no sheets, dehydrated, low oxygen, slurring his words. The nurses, were rude and ignored any requests for information. The only one that was helpful was the occupational therapist. Got him out of there as fast as we could.

Experiencia fantástica: V age 95 has her first anniversary on the 3rd floor (memory unit) this week. It has been a good year in that we see she is safe and well cared for. We have been pleased with the personable staff, the cleanliness of the place, and the follow-ups by staff (OT,PT etc). We visit several times a week and notice how much she enters into the activity. We feel grateful for the good care she gets.

Experiencia negativa: On our second day visit the toilet was dirty. The room has not been cleaned so we cleaned it. They put a diaper on him which he did not need. The staff is not friendly and they don’t treat the elderly right.

Experiencia negativa: This is a horrible place in my opinion. Please do not send any of your loved ones here. Tonight a woman was screaming for help and three nurses refused to listen to help her. This may be something the woman does but it does NOT give them the right to ignore her! I unfortunately had to say something to them so the poor woman could get some help. It’s scary to think your loved ones are being treated this way.

These people DO NOT respond to rooms when you press the button. 80+ degree rooms, no air circulation. I really looks like a corrections facility. This is all first floor, I don't even want to imagine what the other floors look like.

Experiencia negativa: My mom was sent to Neville from MGH, she arrived with COVID and they were aware? they put her in a regular room (not COVID) TV didn't work, my mom has a bladder problem and can't get out of bed yet,so she pushed her nurse button and took a while,and finally a nurse or aid came in and after asking for help was YELLED AT! The next day mom was put in a COVID room,and again No TV (nobody had a remote??) I was on the next flight from Florida that night,so once again my mom needs help with going to the bathroom and slow response her diaper was full and half off, because of this she now has a UTI, I witnessed staff on cell phones a LOT, I called cooperate#978-372-4004Steve, and heard my concerns (I called the lead nurse and social worker at 9am,and finally at noonish Steve called me back with the lead nurse and social worker on 3way call and was assured that things would be better? They weren't, also food is under par, no toast for bkst or bread with dinner, some things on the meal ticket don't even arrive,also cold meatloaf?no potatoes on plate etc etc,I have not received any calls to see how things are,no empathy just drain the system for$$$$, My best visits were in the day (April)at front desk is a PURE ANGLE, SO please reconsider sending a Loved one to Neville I doubt this will even get posted, so find a better place,it says 5stars, I believe they monitor the negative post's,as it seems that there aren't any??

Experiencia fantástica: The Neville center is by far one of the best nursing homes in the boston area! My grandmother has stayed at many facilities that were dirty, understaffed, and unsafe. We haven’t seen any of these issues the past few months she’s been at Neville. The rooms and common areas are kept clean, the staff are beyond friendly and care so much for the community members. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a safe, trustworthy facility for their loved ones.

Experiencia fantástica: I was a Rehab. patient at Neville from late July to late August 2020 following Rotator Cuff Surgery. I've had CP since birth so I really needed to learn how to walk safely following the surgery. The staff were exceptional, compassionate and professional for my entire stay. My stay was during height of COVID during a very hot Summer. Although the staff had to wear full face and body coverings to prevent spread and I never got COVID, the staff were always kind patient and so helpful! I miss Marissa, Nichole and all the PT's, OT's, Nurses and Aides who helped me get better and taught me so many good ways of coping. I walk with walkers now, but I'm back home and safe thanks so much to Neville! Thank You all! Allen Whitaker.

Experiencia fantástica: My family and I can not rave enough about the Neville Nursing Home in Cambridge. This is the 3rd nursing home our mother has been moved to and Neville is the BEST! Our mothers health has improved, her physical strength is better, her happiness, and the smiles, laughter and communication conveys joy. A big difference since she has been at Neville. As her children, we now enjoy visiting her because we see a new Mom. Thank you to the staff, the attention and the care. Neville Center delivers just what our mother needs.

Experiencia fantástica: After surgery, I have been to the Neville Center on 3 occasions in the past 2 years. All stays were for moderate orthopedic issues. It is always difficult for a patient to remain in a rehab center for 24 hours a day. You are largely confined to your bed or chair all day. Believe me it is no fun!! The staff at Neville Center was very aware of this fact and they ALL went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible. I have stayed sat 2 other rehab centers where the staff often became threatening and aggressive! The medical care at Neville is excellent. They may have saved my life. One of the nurses noticed that an infection developed after back surgery. They took a picture sent it to my surgeon who rushed me back to the operating room for more surgery. I was then released back to Neville where I was administered many days of IV treatment. The physical and occupational therapists were top quality and very caring. I was given 2 hours a day of PERSONALIZED physical therapy. At another institution I was given 1 hour of GROUP PT. Since there were 8 patients in a group that amounted to about 6 minutes of SIMPLE PT. That rehab center falsely advertised each patient got 3 hours of personal PT a day. Finally the patients at Neville are NOT ALARMED to their bed. They are free to use an assistive device to navigate especially in their room. This alarming of beds is a abusive practice. Studies have shown that fall rates and injuries are NOT reduced whenever bed alarms are used. Only patient comfort is severely compromised. Furthermore you can be sure that some staff member will be greatly offended if your alarm goes off. At a different facility one staff member threatened to tie me to the bed. I had waited 35 minutes for her to take me to the bathroom and finally had to get up on my own. I had no choice at that point. If you are choosing a rehab center ask them "DO YOU ALARM THE BEDS?" If the answer is yes, hang up immediately and choice another rehab location. It will save you a GREAT DEAL of unpleasantness. Don't believe when they say the ALARMS are for your benefit. They are totally for staff convenience and power. I think Neville Canter was an excellent choice for me and I would go there again for more rehab anytime.

Was told by the lady at the front desk that they had active covid cases ongoing there...so maybe thats why theyre not hiring. Kept me on hold for long periods of time. Detek supposed head of kitchen lies. Very unprofessional.

Experiencia negativa: Worst care ever for someone that is there for pt. 15 minutes of pt daily? Try reaching someone to talk to for information,impossible! Try getting a nurse,impossible! Try getting a doctor never gonna happen. Do not have a loved one go there. Just today I have been trying to speak with someone,anyone since 3:00 someone did call me back at 3:56 but still no answers,she is the nursing director and can’t get thru to them? She did finally get thru to them and called me back at 4:45,which I’m grateful for, but I don’t understand why nobody picks up the phone there.

Experiencia positiva: I had a terrific experience at Neville Center Following my back surgery. The staff was so friendly and helpful that I was able to relax and allow myself to enjoy my care and rehabilitation. As a retired health professional I appreciated the high nursing and therapy standards. My room was large with a sunny picture window. The food was mixed until I met with the dietitian and I then was able to choose memorable selections. All in all a nice place to convalesce!

My grandfather spent the last 6 months of his life as a resident here and we can not speak highly enough of the care. His end of life care was far superior to anything we could have imagined and completely shattered any preconceived notions we had about long term nursing facilities. Please consider the Neville Center, you will not regret it.

Experiencia negativa: It's awful there my mom was there for a week the first night she got there she ask to get up to go to the bathroom and they said here is a bed pan my mom said I don't want that I want to get up and go. They threw a towel at her and told her to put it between her legs and go. I would not put my dog there. And Food was fit for dogs. The lady in the bed next to my mom fell off her wheel chair and I went to get someone and they took there time getting there took her vitals and put her back in bed with checking her to see if she broke anything. Just awful. So glad I got her out of there after a week of torched. She was there for rehab and they got her 2xs the whole time she was there it was a joke.

Experiencia negativa: Awful !!! My mom was transferred there from an acute care facility and had a fall her first night there. She suffered traumatic brain injury and a broken wrist, this after they knew she was a fall risk and she had a fall in the bathroom. They probably left her alone, we'll never know the truth.

Experiencia fantástica: On Christmas Day, 2017, my husband slipped and fell on stairs at my sister’s house north of Worcester. Frustratingly, he detached his Quadricep tendon from his patella. Through a cousin, we made our way to Beth Israel Emergency and he had surgery the very next day. The big complication was that with this type of injury and its repair, the leg must be kept straight for at least 6 weeks in a cast. Given his age (80) and his mental condition (Alzheimer’s), I decided it was better to stay here in Boston Area to make sure when the cast came off, the operating surgeon and his team would make sure all was healing properly. The Social Care worker at Beth Israel suggested Neville Center on Fresh Pond. I looked at a few others, but liked the size and location (my family lives in Cambridge and Boston). And given that his condition was not ‘acute’, he was not eligible for a lot of other rehab spaces. Without a doubt, his improvement after a six week stay came mainly from all the therapists and their sensitivity not only to the physical rehab necessary for repair to his tendon, but also how to navigate a delirium he experienced after the surgery which made his memory issues that much more pronounced. That is, the rehab here with PT, OT, and Speech also worked with cognitive issues with extraordinary sensitivity and professionalism. Additionally, I was surprised to read a few reviews which speak to unpleasant experience with staff here. That is so far from the truth, I want to state that consistently, every member of the staff has been exceptionally warm and caring even when moments caused difficulties. And if I ever had an issue, they were prompt in response and always interested in seeing how to make issue go away not only for me but also for any future patient/care-giver. The only slight negative I would offer is regarding the food. Fresh vegetables are no where to be found on the menu and there is seemingly a lot of processed foods. We had an issue with my husband losing a great deal of weight. Through a lot of trial and error and discussion with the diet techs here, our doctors, and the nurses, we hit upon a solution both with some medication and then types of food that he would eat. His appetite is back. And part of that is due to their willingness here to provide whatever you feel like eating for all meals.

Experiencia positiva: (Updated) Shameful first 24 hours. No one showed us to the room or greeted my mother after we were directed to her room. No pain meds given on her first night after hospital discharge for a joint replacement, given incorrect meal components, awkward uncommunicative occupational therapist, rude/resentful overnight nurses (different nurse 1st and 2nd night, both unpleasant). However, all the day staff she encountered (other than non-syllabic OT) were very lovely, warm, communicative and helpful. A pain management regime was set up to help my mother avoid discomfort and her room was outfitted with extras to improve her experience. While I was prepared to move my Mom to another facility, I'm now hoping that in those first 24 hours we simply got the brunt of anomalous unfortunateness (except for the night nurses who seem to exhibit less alacrity than their daytime counterparts). He facility is very bright, the PT room looks out onto a green environ and there's plenty of seating outside for sun lovers and shade lovers alike. It's definitely visually appealing and happily lacks that depressing decor/lighting that many rehab/nursing homes suffer from. Neville is proving their merit and I hope as my mothers stay continues, they deservedly earn more stars. I would request to see PT/OT logs, as I think they skimp when they can. But if you hold them accountable it's a great facility that my Mother said she would return to.

Experiencia fantástica: My Nana was at Neville a couple of times over the past year. She hasn’t been doing well but each time she has gone to rehab, she did so well! I want to thank all the nurses and the therapist because if it weren’t for them, I don’t know where my Nana would be. THANK YOU ALL!

Experiencia fantástica: I stayed at Neville for 3 weeks. It was such a pleasant experience. The nurses, directors, aides and pt\ot staff were professional and curtious.. I was very pleased with how clean my room and my bathroom was. If your looking for a rehab place to go and learn how to cope and heal properly this is the place... Shout out to Iris, Eunice and Kelsey.. All of you showed me the way. Thank you!!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: My family's experience with Neville in 2017 for the care of my grandparents was absolutely wonderful. They truly care about their patients and treat them like they are family. From the time my grandparents arrived at Neville to when they past on, I saw the quality of care such a high level, even higher than I hoped for. I strongly and wholeheartedly recommend Neville to anyone needing nursing care for a family member.

Experiencia negativa: This place is disgusting. My poor husband was here. He caught C diff while there. It's dirty and I would never allow anyone to be here. It should be closed down. He went there to be rehabilitated and ended up back in the hospital. It was a nightmare. He also fell out of a wheelchair while there which meant another trip to the ER from this hell hole! Totally ridiculous. Steer clear of this place.

Experiencia negativa: The food is awful. The break room is FILTHY. My father's bathroom was not clean when he got there. We found him on the floor. We had to fight with staff to get him his medicines and pain killers. The medical doctors they use are quacks. Do not recomnend.

Experiencia fantástica: My mother went to Neville after she had a knee replacement. She was there for a little more than a week and overall, I was very pleased with the care she recieved. She is now home, walking around on her own! If she ever needed rehab again, we would gladly go back.

Experiencia negativa: Disgraceful....total lack of patient care and communication with their families. My Aunt passed away in their care and because her only sister, my mother, lives overseas, they failed to notify her. We found out by chance four years later and when confronted, showed a total lack of knowledge and concern. It is now in the hands of the Attorney Generals office.
