Experiencia fantástica: This might be my very first Google review but I'm so happy to write it for Alex Papale. About 6 weeks after severe swelling in my third trimester, a complicated birthing experience and c-section, and a tough physical recovery, Alex supported me through my postpartum recovery. They were so kind, so empathetic and so generous with their time and incredibly knowledgeable about all of the aspects of postpartum I and many people struggled with. I could barely change positions from laying down to sitting up without using support and experiencing pain. I couldn't stand without clenching my entire lower half of my body. I couldn't fathom looking at much less touching my c-section scar to start sensitizing and massaging it for proper recovery care. Alex shared exercises, did a full pelvic floor exam, and helped me with every single thing that I was struggling with and even helped me recognize other places in my movement and abilities that I hadn't recognized myself to support me through them. I would recommend Alex in a heartbeat. I don't know that I could get through my postpartum journey without them.

After struggling with pelvic pain for years due to endometriosis, even after two excision surgeries, I never thought I’d know what it was like to live a pain-free life. Dustienne listened to me and curated a treatment plan to help me find relief. After working with her for about a year and a half, I’ve found true relief from my pain and now have the tools to manage flares on my own. Experiencia fantástica: I am so grateful Flourish Physical Therapy was recommended to me by my doula for post-birth recovery, and even more grateful to have the chance to work with Alex on my recovery. I had an extremely challenging labor, which lasted for almost four days. As such, I was nearly incapacitated for more than a month after giving birth. This was challenging for me because I was quite athletic, even throughout my pregnancy. Once I was cleared for activity by my midwife, I began seeing Alex to help me work towards a more comprehensive recovery. I was quite nervous given the trauma I had experienced, but Alex could not have been more more attuned to sensing my needs and what I wanted to get out of my therapy. They explained in detail how the mechanics of my body were working so I could better understand the healing process, and gave me clear things to do to continue working at home. I felt extremely seen and cared for by Alex, but also could see immediately Alex’s expertise. This was something that was really important to me, and Alex never had me questioning whether or not they knew how to help me recover. I am beyond grateful for Alex’s help and support, I attribute the fact that I am now back to running and long-distance cycling just three months after such a traumatic birth, to their work and compassion. I wholeheartedly recommend Alex and Flourish Physical Therapy!

Experiencia fantástica: I went into Flourish Physical Therapy with a painful tailbone injury. It had gotten to the point where it hurt to lie down, sit, and move from sitting to standing. After sessions at Flourish, I experience no pain -- and even when a little pain comes back, I feel empowered through exercises I learned so I can take care of it myself. Something that surprised me was how much I learned about pain and my own body. It wasn't just about "fixing" the problem, though that happened too. I felt so much less alienated from my body. Even as I was dealing with the pain, it no longer felt scary or like I was going to hurt myself more. The stress from experiencing the pain was managed too. Experiencia fantástica: I have had sacroiliac problems on and off for a few years. Dustienne's holistic approach to physical therapy was exactly what my body needed. Her warm, caring and insightful experience helped to identify the problem quickly. She has an intuitive ability to locate where specific areas of tightness, tension and discomfort originate. The treatment was precise, exercises were given to strengthen, assisted range of motion helped to mobilize my low back, hip and whole pelvis. Her treatments are supportive and safe, allowing for release and pain relief. Dustienne provided resources, take home stretches and yoga poses for when I experience flare-ups. Her gentle guidance has helped me pull back from pushing through the strain of daily routines and listen to my body.

Experiencia fantástica: Before I was referred to Dustienne, I had never heard (or could have imagined) that there was such a thing as Pelvic Floor PT. I had no idea what to expect and had so many questions: what is it? ...how is it administered? …will my participation be active or passive? …and even, what do I wear? I needn’t have worried, though, as I was put at ease the moment I met Dustienne. She is the consummate professional while being very warm and laid back. In fact, once the therapy started, I found that I really didn’t care so much about the what/how/why of it all….she knew what she was doing and was a font of anatomical knowledge. And, more importantly, my symptoms were improving. I sought Dustienne’s help for increasing pain and discomfort in my tailbone (requiring me to use an orthopedic cushion at all times – in the car, office, restaurants), the origin of which was unclear. The combination of Dustienne’s in-office treatment, basic exercises to do at home, and her workouts (compact and easy), immediately helped to alleviate the tailbone pain and ultimately has freed me from the cushion. I’ve struggled to manage endometriosis symptoms for many years with diet, exercise and acupuncture, but Pelvic PT has been a great addition to the arsenal of tools that help to keep me limber, mindful and pain-free. And, Dustienne is sure to keep you laughing!

Their philosophy is a very holistic one - not only doing things like stretches and tissue massage, but also providing many other healing tactics like meditation & yoga tailored to specific issues. She's not your average PT, she is a pioneer in the field of Pelvic PT and believes in empowering patients to play a major role in their recovery. She's also an educator and can help you incorporate practical and applicable yoga and meditation into your at home program. Her DVD's have been very helpful for me. It's like having her at home with you and helps in remembering how to do your new exercises or yoga properly. I originally found Dustienne in a very desperate state. I had severe pelvic pain that only allowed me to sit or stand for certain periods of a time, rotating back and forth, trying to sleep while standing bent over my bed. I also had pain radiating down my leg disrupting my ability to walk. I had seen every doctor and their only answers were loads of medicine and to "make the best of my good days and on the bad days know there will be better one's." That was a real answer from a chief neurologist at age 32! Dustienne right away acknowledged we needed another person on our team and helped me find another super hero in Boston Health Care, Dr. Antje Barreveld of NWH. They worked together on a 2 year journey to help me go from disability to back to work! Mine was a very severe case at the time, this is not normal and I am grateful for her continued support. It is also very impressive how Dustienne will work with the other members of your medical team if helpful. This is not normal from my experience and made a world of difference. Dustienne gave me hope and supported me with her sincere care, presence and by listening to my needs. She does not give a cookie cutter answer, this is not a normal PT appointment. This is all around care, from one of the most inspirational and caring person I have ever met. I have continued to see Dustienne over the years for IBS, SIBO, bloating that radiates down, pelvic, sacrum, coccyx and hip pain flare-ups. She is helpful in calming things down, recognizing the cause, adjusting your at home program and getting you back to life! There are so many things that can be helped by Pelvic Physical Therapy that are not talked about. So many people could be living in less or no pain with a little guidance and then an at home program that is completely manageable. I've been to a lot of Dr's and specialists. My friends know Dustienne by her name. They often ask, "what would Dustienne say?" :-) . Anything to do with your pelvic area is very private and could be uncomfortable to address. Not with Dustienne though. She is kind, warm, welcoming and a professional. I would recommend anyone to see her. The privacy and comfort of her care, office and treatment is like no other.

Experiencia fantástica: I didn't even know what "pelvic floor" meant, nevermind that the discomfort I thought was a twingy hamstring was referred pain from my pelvic floor. There were so many things I learned from my sessions with Dustienne, and I am so much healthier and happier as a result!
