Indiana University Student Health Center: Opiniones
Experiencia positiva: Maturnity ward is excellent. Emergency room in general is not very responsive: average wait time(s) so far are 3+ hours any time a family member or I have gone in.
Experiencia fantástica: My experience here has been excellent. Very quick to get me in to see doctors or counselors, and it's really nice that they have an on-site pharmacy and lab. I've interacted with several different parts of the center, and my experience was good all around. It is possible they get hordes of students wanting excuses to get out of class, and they might be grumpy if they think you're wasting their time.
Experiencia fantástica: You CANNOT BEAT the purple parking lot. Flat, good asphalt, exquisitely painted lines, this is a monument to good paving craftsmanship. Looking for a place to park your car? Any lot will do. Looking for a place to pamper it? You gotta go Purple. And that's the straight dope.
Experiencia fantástica: Great resources for students and supportive and non judgmental staff.
Experiencia fantástica: Quick, efficient, and understanding. They are good at what they do.
Experiencia fantástica: I was expecting a very unpleasant experience based on the reviews I'd been seeing on Google, but I've been to the SHC twice so far and both times everyone was incredibly helpful, polite, and warm. As a very nervous, introverted person, I was incredibly relieved at just how friendly everyone was. One person called me 'kiddo' a couple times, which is annoying but certainly not a Problem. I've had a few extended phone calls with the SHC as well, asking questions about various things and trying to get a scheduling issue sorted out. The people helping me went above and beyond to make sure everything got taken care of, or that I knew where to go for the answer. I hope future visits are as pleasant as these have been, because this has been a remarkably nice surprise.
Experiencia fantástica: Everyone here is so kind and accommodating. Nicest nurses, doctors and employees i’ve ever experienced at a health center. 10/10 highly recommend!!
Experiencia fantástica: Everyone was very professional, kind and helpful. If you’re concerned about the negative reviews, I’d reconsider and take the chance with this place
Experiencia fantástica: Graduate student here! Truthfully, I came to the student health center as a last resort. I have previously gone to urgent care clinics, but was in a unique situation after going to the ER and receiving iffy advice. I can now say: after my awesome experience at the IUB health center, I will not be seeking medical care anywhere else in Bloomington. The receptionists, nurses, and doctors were all wonderful. Because of their care, I am now on the correct medication! Shoutout to Dr. Laura Knudson who is the absolute BEST.
Experiencia fantástica: All staff are friendly and nice! The immunization process was easy and fast.
Experiencia fantástica: Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I have only ever had positive experiences with the IU student health center. Nurses and doctors are all kind and knowledgeable, lab is quick and professional.
Experiencia fantástica: I was given the best treatment at IUHC. Every staff member that I came in contact with was kind, thorough, and made me feel comfortable. Dr. Knudson went above and beyond. She was thorough in explaining what tests she was going to run and why, she talked through insurance and payment options, and even went as far as to help connect me with resources to get my costs adjusted. The nurse, whose name I do not remember, was also super awesome. Really thankful for the staff and really appreciative of the level of care I received.
Experiencia fantástica: I highly, highly recommend Dr. Knudson. She is incredibly knowledgeable, respectful, and inclusive in every way possible. I always walk away feeling informed and like an active participant in my own treatment. She really takes the time to answer all my questions, listen to my concerns, and make sure I feel comfortable with everything that’s happening.
Experiencia fantástica: I recommend the IU Inpatient Stress Center. I was worried because several inpatient psychiatric centers had lots of negative and concerning reviews but this center was clean safe and caring. You speak to a psychiatrist every day and outside of a court order you can leave on your own accord which also eased my worries. I liked how fast I was able to obtain my patient record and the ease of obtaining same. The only areas I’d say are in need of improvement are the following: 1. every other patient with me agreed, having to repeat your story over and over again to every single staff was uncomfortable and frustrating. Several made the comment “are the staff not communicating these things with each other?” 2. The amendment process needs improvement. for example while I was there a case manager informed me that someone accidentally wrote that I was bipolar when they meant it was my mom who was bipolar. She assured me that the error would be corrected before I was discharged. It wasn’t and i filed an amendment and “the reviewing physician determined the record was accurate as is” which is not true. Two psychologists and my therapist agree I do not have bipolar disorder, I have never had a manic episode I do not have mood swings or any other essential diagnostic symptoms. I do not feel my concern was validated or corrected it’s important to have an accurate record especially with something so sensitive as mental health care. I filed a grievance recording the decision.
Experiencia fantástica: Staff was super kind and helpful, squeezed me in despite me showing up a bit late
Experiencia positiva: Pros: if you need to get an IUD go here cause it was flawless and over in seconds. They tell you what’s up and calm you down Cons: I got misdiagnosed for mumps by a nurse practitioner and missed school. If it was high school it would be fine but I’m paying for this education and I can’t miss it :/
Experiencia fantástica: Everything went perfectly. All people I encountered we're nice and polite. The doc was professional and educational. I guess people usually don't post review unless they are super mad, but the IU health center is really better than its average review looks like.
Experiencia fantástica: The IUHC is truly the hidden gem of Indiana University. Throughout my collegiate career, they have continually surprised me with how many services they offer. When I was a junior, I broke my foot and could count on the HC for quick and easy x-ray visits. As a sophomore, the HC was able to conduct blood tests and nose swabs when I had the flu. As a senior, I have appreciated having so may reliable medical resources so close to me for the past 4 years. Thank you to the IUHC staff for being so friendly and welcoming and understanding how to help students!
Experiencia fantástica: Gets me taken care of conveniently and inexpensively.
Experiencia positiva: My experience has nearly always been excellent. I'd definitely give 5 stars if Chris Johnson didn't work there. Dr. Rupp, Bruce Garber, Cathy Garber, and Mary Lou Nierzwicki were all great. Staff are helpful, efficient, and friendly. If you avoid Chris Johnson in the Women's Clinic, you will likely have a good experience at the health center. The lab work is usually quick and mostly painless, and folks filling prescriptions are fast, helpful, and friendly. Chris Johnson was extremely dismissive, and told me there was nothing wrong with me, and the pain I was in was normal. I found out later I had large ovarian cysts and advanced endometriosis (stage 4). Due to her dismissive attitude, I first spent another year with no diagnosis, in pain, and feeling hopeless. I did not consult with another doctor because I let her convince me the pain and illness was in my head. My illness was severe enough that I've had 5 surgeries to treat it, which involved freeing organs stuck to me with adhesions, a hysterectomy, and a bowel resection. The very least Chris could've done was mention the possibility of endometriosis and refer me and/or order an ultrasound. If I had treated the disease sooner, I likely would've had a better surgical outcome (possibly keeping a left ovary so damaged that it needed to be removed), fewer adhesions (from treating the disease before it became so advanced). Not to mention years of lost productivity and damaged social relations from living in pain. Chris Johnson also told me that if you are in a car going over train tracks and that doesn't cause severe pain, you don't have an ovarian cyst large enough to worry about. It sounded strange to me at the time, and now that I've had multiple large cysts (verified by ultrasounds and surgery), I know what she said is nonsense. Chris Johnson should not be allowed to practice medicine.
Experiencia fantástica: Doctors and nurses are always helpful. I love that I can call ahead to the pharmacy and have my prescription ready for me after class!
