Experiencia fantástica: It was a shock to be diagnosed with a severe hip deformity. After visiting several hip specialist, surgery seemed to be the only answer. When I asked the doctors about the possibility of doing physical therapy, they're immediate answer was no- unless it is performed by Dr. Marcia Perretto because she is the only person around who is educated and skilled to handle a case as complicated as mine. I've been working with Dr. Perretto for over two months now, and have been able to successfully manage my pain. Her exuberant personality makes physical therapy not only beneficial to my body, but also enjoyable. She's the best!

I was in a major accident in 1997 where I broke my femur in half and as a result had a titanium rod and pins in my leg. The last hip surgery, and subsequent physical therapy, I underwent was in 2003 (both were unsuccessful). I had chronic hip pain which was repeatedly dismissed as an inevitability of my accident by therapists, doctors and surgeons of all kinds over the years. I was never told, until this surgery and physical therapy that I was a 9/9 on a scale of hypermobility. Finding my surgeon and Dr. Peretto, who specializes in EVERY issue I've had, has meant the difference between a life of constant limitation and the life I will now have the opportunity to live. Dr. Peretto explained EVERYTHING which was going to take place, both during my surgery and each day/week/month later (something no other practitioner ever bothered to do in the 15+ years since my injury). She assured me she was available to me at any time I needed, whether it was right after surgery or months later. She has been my go to for every situation which has arisen. I can say, without a doubt, that the commitment, skill and expertise Dr. Paretto embodies were what I was looking for all these years. I can also say that the lack of these qualities I found in every other therapist was the reason why, over the years, I had eventually given up on ever achieving the level of full rehabilitation I believe I will now have achieved. You so rarely see the level of commitment and skill Dr. Peretto has. I have been beyond lucky to have found her and can only hope the same for every other patient like myself.

She strategically stimulates the neuromuscular system to gain strength and restore athletic /functional movement patterns. Awesome therapy. Gets you out of pain and actually improves your performance.

Dr. Perretto understands the anatomy and function of the hip and body at a deeper level than I've experienced with other physical therapists. She is so thorough with her explanations of exercises to rehab my injuries, and personalizes my program so that it is tailored to my individual needs. She explains in detail what is going on with my symptoms and provides ongoing recommendations (on demand) between sessions. She communicates well and requires feedback in order to assess necessary changes to my treatments. Although she expects me to work hard with at home exercises my progress has been very good! She is a professional who has taken a sincere interest in ensuring my condition is improving. I would easily recommend Dr. P.

Experiencia fantástica: I am a dentist and health care administrator and therefore have a medical background and can be considered an expert when making a professional referral. As a result of a slip and fall I sustained a both a torn rotator cuff injury of my shoulder and a labral tear of my hip. I spent three months obtaining physical therapy both pre-op and post-op, at a physical therapy clinic owned by an orthopedic surgeon which was staffed by a physical therapist and a physical therapist assistant. They administered care to as many as six patients at one time. Most of the sessions were spent on stationary equipment or being "iced" at the end of the session. After my hip surgery, my orthopedic surgeon referred me to Dr. Marcia Medina (Actify Physiotherapy). Unlike my previous experience, I was always the only patient in her office and she devoted 100% of her attention to me during the session. She also accepted my insurance so the cost to me was exactly the same as what it cost me at the previous physical therapy facility. Dr Medina is extremely knowledgeable and has more advanced training than most other therapists. I highly recommend her.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Perretto has been amazing. Playing tennis at the highest level, I was developing hip problems. She assessed my problems and helped me understand them in a way that made sense which was extremely beneficial and made me practically excited to get better! Often times with injuries you don't get answers or don't understand which can be frustrating and make it hard to find any motivation but with Dr. Perretto it was the exact opposite. I see the results so fast and she is so detailed and passionate about what she does. I have learned so much and she has not only helped me with my hip problems but explained my past nagging injuries as well and how they all relate. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (Hypermobility), which means nearly all of my joints tend to dislocate and/or tear. I started seeing Dr. Perretto after my second of three hip surgeries, and I have gone twice a week for approximately two years. She has been nothing but a help to my health. She helped me realize why I kept finding “new” joint problems and went out of her way to refer me to other doctors to help diagnose my Hypermobility. Dr. Perretto genuinely cares about her patients and is incredibly knowledgeable. She always finds a way to make things better. My jaw has been dislocating a lot lately, but it has become much more stable and hurts a lot less after therapy with her. She has helped in the stabilization of many of my joints and has eased me of great deals of pain. As a therapist, she goes above and beyond! I’d never want to go to anyone else!

Experiencia fantástica: I have tears in the labrum of each hip. I first started having pain in 2007. I saw numerous doctors and had physical therapy twice. Finally in the beginning of 2011 the doctors figured out I had torn cartilage. I met with 4 surgeons and was told I need surgery to fix the problem. I planned to take a year of school in 2014 and have 2 hip surgeries. Based on my fluctuating pain levels and the fact that I am hypermobile (which I learned is actually a real thing) the surgeon recommended I have some physical therapy before the surgeries. I was skeptical since I had already been to physical therapy on 2 separate occasions and it was a huge waste of time. Plus my insurance wasn’t going to cover it this time around. I started going to Dr. Marcia Perretto at the very end of 2013. I have always been active and exercised but apparently I was doing it all wrong. I inadvertently was using the wrong muscles to everything. I have been playing sports and dancing since middle school and no one ever told me!! Dr. Perretto taught me how to walk properly, stand properly, and how to exercise properly. I have learned that activating the correct muscles through proper technique is the most important thing to pay attention to while exercising. Dr. Perretto basically did neuromuscular reconditioning with me for months. I remember when we first started I could barely do any of the exercises she taught me. My body automatically used the wrong muscles to move which made the weak ones even weaker.The instability in my torso and hips was severe. When I started the pain was at a 5-6 most of the time. 3 months later I had an appointment with the surgeon to schedule the first surgery and obtain my pre-operation paperwork. During his review of my hips he learned how much better I felt. I had a noticeable reduction in pain. The surgeon recommended I work with Dr. Perretto for a longer period and then we would reassess in a few more months. Long story short I continued to see Dr. Perretto every week. 6-8 months ago we went down to every other week. It has been just over 2 years since my first visit and my pain level is consistently 2-3 with an occasional level 4. I only have severe pain when I don’t exercise or sit for long periods of time. Working with Dr. Perretto has taught me about what triggers my pain. As long as I continue to do the exercises Dr. Perretto taught me and follow her plan I feel really good. Dr. Perretto also encouraged me to purchase a pilates reformer, similar to the one at her office, so I can get the same work out at home. She even sent me the amazon link to make it easier to buy. She has always gone above and beyond during my treatment and has been great about moving my appointments to meet my busy school and work schedule. She shares treatment methods with me and gives me the information so I can read up on it. Such recently gave me information on prolotherapy. Meeting Dr. Perretto has changed my life. If it wasn’t for her I would have had 2 surgeries and my level of stability in the torso and hips wouldn’t be where it is today. I have been able to continue taking ballet lessons have been able to return to many of the athletics I liked before I was injured. I still have tears in the cartilage of my hips, but with the knowledge Dr. Perretto has instilled the injury is no longer debilitating. – One last thing. Dr. Peretto has a vast knowledge of how the body works and truly understands what hypermobility is and how to treat it. I would highly recommend her to anyone that suffers from pain/ tightness in there joints and muscles.

Not only did Dr. Perretto diagnose her, she has treated her and directed us towards other doctors who could help her. Dr. Perretto has taken a personal interest in my daughter's case, as I'm sure she does with all her patients. Her passion, commitment and involvement is very rare these days. Experiencia fantástica: I have dealt with severe joint hypermobility my whole life. This has affected my mobility, but use of orthotics had been keeping things under control. However, over the last couple of years I have developed a neuropathy in my right leg, probably due to nerves getting compressed from having extremely flat feet. I have been to other PT's who didn't know what to do to help me, and it is a real blessing that I have found Dr. Peretto, who is an expert in the area of joint hypermobility. Since I have been working with her I have been rebuilding strength and gaining balance. My numbness in my foot and my drop foot have been significantly improving, and I am having a much easier time walking and managing daily activities. If you have physical issues due to joint hypermobility, I very highly recommend Dr. Perretto.

Experiencia fantástica: Above and beyond care . If you are suffering with hyper-mobility or EDS I can’t recommend anyone better than Dr. Perretto. Before seeing her I was miserable and hopeless, with an assortment of symptoms and issues that I could not get my primary or any doctor to listen to me about. Dr. Perretto and her team helped me to get referrals for scans, genetic testing and to see specialists. With her help I have found out I do have EDS and multiple complications from it, such as CCI and vascular issues among other things. She is even helping me to find the best doctors for my unique problems. In the mean time, Dr. Perretto has helped me to stay in the best shape possible with a customized work out plan, great diet and life tips for dealing with POTs and EDS. And answering any questions I have about my condition or symptoms. Dr. Pulcheri, Jennifer and Ohla are all very skilled and can show you lots of amazing exercises and how to protect your joints while doing them. Manual therapy with Jennifer and Dr. Pulcheri has been an amazing help for my constantly tight muscles. Dr. Perretto has helped me to get stronger and feel better in the time I have spent at Actify, but more than that she has given me hope and peace of mind. I still have a long way to go, but I have full confidence in Dr. P that she will get me to who and where I need to be to live my fullest, pain and symptom free life. I am blessed and thankful to be a part of the Actify family and a patient of Dr. Perretto’s.

Experiencia fantástica: I knew I had Ehlers Danlos Syndrome as long as I could remember. Huge oversized bruises, ability to hyper extend my hands, fingers, arms, legs. Super stretchy silky skin. My father was helpful in dealing with the issues that come with this hereditary condition so I wasn’t in the dark or afraid of it. Now that I’m over 60 life’s daily issues have become difficult, injuries are more often and internal organs are reacting. Doctors are totally unfamiliar with EDS even if they say they know EDS, they don’t. I’ve become very weak because my health has been on the decline these last several years. After painstaking research I found Dr. Marcia Perretto in Boca Raton. I traveled to her site and had her fully evaluate me. I previously had the Atwal Clinic do the DNA so I have proof of my diagnosis for medical personnel to take me serious about my condition since it affects every part of me, physically and mentally. Dr. Perretto and Dr. Atwal know each other and have worked on cases together. Dr. Perretto targeted every area I have problems physically. She also recognized my facial issues, that developed almost two years ago, I have MCAS, mast cell acceleration which I didn’t know what that was and nobody could identify what was wrong, it was painful and not pretty. Thankfully she was able to figure me out and get an overall treatment plan going. I just spent more time with her over teleHealth yesterday identifying more accurate movements where I didn’t exactly understand. Their weekly teleHealth therapy now that I’ve done it a few times is definitely a different and very sensible method than any method I knew of and I can clearly see what they are working toward. I thought maybe I would be bed ridden before long but I feel now, with Dr. Perretto and her very caring team, we will get my muscles and ligaments in good shape which will keep me out of the bed more and into life itself. I’m excited to have this rare opportunity. I’m so thankful for her insight and her gigantic heart!!! Even from the intake form you can tell Dr. Perretto & her team are devoted to understanding you, your case, and your individual needs. Patrice is phenomenal with coordinating everything and making you feel comfortable. Dr. Bohla is a great teacher who has helped me understand my body and how to visualize the different exercises I need to do to strengthen my neck. And Dr. Perretto has incredible knowledge and insight. She is able to ask the right questions and get to real answers. And the best part is she's not afraid to learn new things or be wrong. As long as it moves her people forward, she is here for it, including volunteering to talk to other doctors about my case to come up with a gameplan. I am very grateful for Actify PT and their team, and no they're not paying me to write this. About money - the sessions admittedly aren't cheap, but if you're committed to healing, I would say it's worth it. Experiencia fantástica: (I am posting this on behalf of a patient who I am assisting in her rehabilitation and activities of daily living) I strongly believe that Marcia Peretto and the team she has trained are the leading physical therapists in the United states for patients suffering from complex musculoskeletal disorders. I am a highly trained, retired medical professional who has suffered for many years from Hypermobility ehlers-danlos syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, craniocervical instability and the neurological consequences of these disorders. I am currently traveling by plane to see Marcia Peretto every three months for three weeks at a time because I know only she has the medical expertise to treat me after the medical system has failed to help me. She has studied and understands the body in a deep way that I have not seen in ANY OTHER expert physical therapist. Only Marcia could begin my healing journey despite my having tried over 20 other physical therapists and treatment modalities (including stem cells and prolotherapy). She has studied in depth the biomechanics of movement and the complexities of neuroscience and anatomy. But it is her keen ability to observe the unique neuromuscular patterns and the tiniest subtleties that allows her to cure many patients who have lost hope. Marcia gives 120% to each and every one of her patients and she brings energy, enthusiasm and thoughtfulness to every session. Dr. Peretto communicates with you in a warm and friendly fashion with wonderful analogies that help you understand your body and the journey ahead. When I work with Marcia, it's like a light bulb switch has turned on in my body and my body learns with her guidance how to move with greater ease. Marcia Peretto is one of the few physical therapists who utilizes Redcord (a system of slings designed to increase neuromuscular activation and function to facilitate correct movement patterns). Because of her vast experience with redcord and the way it eliminates gravity, she can diagnose compensatory abnormal muscular activation and correct them within minutes. For instance, before I came to Marcia on this trip, I could not use my arms normally and I had difficulty reaching, picking up objects and lifting my arms overhead. By placing my arms in the Redcord slings, she immediately noticed I would not externally rotate my arm at the shoulder which caused more joint instability at the elbow. The EDS body learns not to use the unstable joint normally, guarding around it. After one week of treatment, I am using my arms more normally with ease. I believe that nearly every person with EDS has hypermobility at the junction of the head and neck which when symptomatic becomes craniocervical instability. My upper cervical spine would sublux (meaning the upper cervical joints would move out of its place); therefore I would just stop sidebending my head which resulted in extreme muscle loss of these very important muscles of the upper cervical spine. In EDS, we need to rely on harmonious movement and overly strong muscles to make up for our over stretched ligaments. Marcia put me in a sling to support my head and had me side bend my head and neck for the first time in four years. My inherent guarding of these muscles melted away and she could notice how my head would shift abnormally when I performed these movements. In the redcord system, she taught me proper cervical sidebending in three sessions which had not been impossible. One could think that Marcia Peretto is a miracle worker, but rather it is her extremely rare combination of brilliance, utter devotion to the patient, creativity in adapting exercises to the specific nuances of a patient's body and clinical insight that makes her a very truly remarkable physical therapist. I owe her each and every day I have.

She gives recommendations, resources, and personalized care to people struggling with Elhers-Danlos Syndrome. Darby is a terrific movement rehabilitation specialist. She creates thoughtful exercise plans that consider the pain and instability of hEDS persons. Dr. Pulcheri helped me regain mobility in my upper back; her treatment includes hands-on physical therapy, and I'm convinced she has magic hands. And Patrice, who manages the administrative aspects, is always available to coordinate busy schedules with a kind smile. This facility takes a holistic approach to address the complications of living with EDS. Since finding this clinic, I have made significant progress and successfully managed EDS symptoms. I was at the end of my rope, feeling utterly hopeless about all of my healthcare providers inability to understand and treat my condition. Most doctors had to google it on their phones right there in the room with me! I was living in terrible pain and it was getting worse. Normal physical therapy wasn't cutting it. Dr. Perreto has been able to help when 3 Orthopedists, a Rheumatologist, a Pain Manegent Specialist, a Neurologist, a Geneticist, a Primary Dr, and Physical Theropy could not. Our Daughter (15) has EDS with chronic shoulder dislocations and chronic muscle spasms among other things, and Dr. Perreto has her back in socket and able to do physical therapy again! We drove over 8 hours to visit her and it was more than worth it! We are still under her care and will make trips back to Boca for visits. We highly recommend Dr. P because she takes the time to listen, understand, and resolve issues. She sets the bar for EDS/PT care!

Dr Perretto is absolutely one of the best in her field. She does not just do a general routine like most I have been to. So I've seen my share of physical therapists. She works with redcord which actually treats the muscular imbalances that we deal with when we are recovering from surgery. It's been life changing for me. I have hope that I can get back to ice hockey at a high level and cycle long distance. She makes every session enjoyable and I know my body is healing and the imbalances are being corrected. I cannot recommend her enough. See for yourself! You'll know after the first visit.
