Experiencia negativa: I have been a patient here for about two years. After calling twice and visiting once I could not get any one to call back or answer my question about insurance coverage for a procedure. Ridiculous.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Atkinson is the best Orthopedic Dr in Southwest Florida. In January 2024 Dr Atkinson had to replace a bone in my thumb due to advanced arthritis. Now there is no more pain, I can hold a pen, a hammer, open buttons, use zippers all without pain. Then May of 2024, he did a reverse shoulder replacement of my right side. 4 months later I can lift my arm straight up, and out to the side, with no pain. Still working on putting dishes away in the cabinets, but I am thrilled. Than you Dr Atkinson.

Experiencia fantástica: I have had two knee replacements with Dr. Todd Atkinson. I am feeling the best i have been in ten years. He is an amazing surgeon who takes time with you to explain all aspects of your surgery.His support staff as in PT is amazing also with a shout out to Ed.I would highly recommend Advanced Orthopedics.

Experiencia fantástica: I needed a shoulder repair/replacement due to a fall in January, 2024. I met with Todd Atkinson, MD who told me my shoulder could not repaired and he would have to do a reverse shoulder replacement. This was done expeditiously because I was in pain and had very limited mobility with my left arm. The surgery was performed and I was immediately placed into at home physical therapy. My shoulder improved very quickly thanks to the surgery performed by Dr. Atkinson. After 7 months I have full use of my arm and shoulder. I highly recommend Todd Atkinson MD for your joint repair/replacement.

Experiencia negativa: Had an appt with Dr. Laporta in cape office in May, he was professional, knowledgeable on my treatment plan. However, after 2 months of leaving messages, numerous calls for his MA Taylor and authorization person, making an appt only to be cancelled. The staff's inefficiencies and lack of professionalism makes it difficult for me to return to this office. Authorization was obtained for my procedure in June. We are in late July, and I have yet to get an appt to have procedure. I decided to get my records, with credit on file and after making them aware to please use. They still tried to obtain payment while addressing this issue and me noticing on the records it stating "credit on acct". Staff incompetence unfortunately detract from the overall quality of care provided by Dr. Laporta.

Experiencia negativa: Called two days in a row once my referral was sent over by my regular doctor. Tried to make an appointment. They wouldn't make an appointment because, the doctor had to look at my referral to see if they even wanted to take on my case. It took this place to get back to me 3 days later and stated the doctor is now willing to take on my case. The lack of professionalism from the receptionist is outrageous Thank God I don't have a broken bone or serious other matters. Do not waste your time with this medical facility.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Atkinson was amazing. He really knows his craft and is so easy to deal with. I had a knee replacement and will be going back to have the other one done. I was so impressed with him and his staff. Best Ortho around by far.

Experiencia fantástica: I was looking for a Orthopedic Surgeon in Cape Coral to have my shoulder looked at. I had pain for a one year or so. I came across Dr. Todd Atkinson. He said I need arthroscopic surgery. I had it done. He is remarkable. I highly recommend Dr Atkinson. He's a nice, kind man and wonderful surgeon.

Experiencia negativa: My doctor referred me here to have check my elbows,because it was very painful. and they told me my insurance its not cover. and I told them if my insurance wouldn't pay then I could pay out of my own pocket. They said they don't allow me to do that. That is weird. They don't respect their patients. And they let their patients suffer like that. I think what they do is not right.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently had a total reverse shoulder replacement with Dr. Atkinson. I can honestly say the experience was amazing. Lee Memorial Staff were very attentive and compassionate. I cannot praise Dr. Atkinson enough, his talent and compassion thru my operation made the experience acceptable. Thank you Dr. Atkinson for giving me my mobility back and the ability to resume the activities I enjoy.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Atkinson and his team are absolutely first rate! I had a badly degenerative shoulder with torn rotator cuff, torn attachment of the biceps tendon, bone spurs and arthritis throughout the joint. The surgery went beautifully with a nice, clean scar and no complications. Post-op follow-ups and physical therapy quickly got me back to using the shoulder with full range of motion and very little pain. Ed, Louise and Nikki in physical therapy were like a second family, keeping things light and making the experience fun in spite of the sometimes necessarily painful exercises. I can heartily recommend Advanced Orthopedics for shoulder surgery.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Atkinson and his team are all first rate, attentive, professional, and even fun. I can't say enough about this team who helped me recover from a terrible shoulder dislocation. Everyone in reception, X-ray, surgery and therapy are top notch. I am especially impressed with the physical therapy team who are such a joy to work with. I truly look forward to seeing them every week as I continue to make progress in recovering my mobility and strength. I strongly recommend Advanced Orthopedics & Sports Medicine if you find yourself in need of an Orthopedic team. I use the Cape Coral facility, but there is one in Fort Myers as well, which seems to be the same high caliber professionals.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Atkinson and his staff in the Cape Coral Office were great to work with. He performed surgery on my wrist and scheduled it very quickly after a bad fall. I am so happy with the results of his work. The staff was very helpful when I had an issue with some paperwork for my short term disability claim. (my fault not theirs) I would highly recommend the doctor and his team for any needs you might have.

Experiencia negativa: my husband had hip surgery and has had complications, he had an appointment with Dr.Thompson for a follow up today, when we called to confirm the time we were told he had left the practice with no information. Addendum: We have now found a new doctor and it appears that my husband’s hip replacement was botched by Dr. Thompson. My husband now needs to undergo a second surgery to correct his hip. Beware of this office.I

Experiencia negativa: Extremely slow response for everything! Medical issues? Time sensitive documents? Just get told they have a MINIMUM of 24 hours to respond. But have absolutely no issues calling to find out when you will be paying your bill. Had my short term disability canceled because they never responded to the company. Yet they expect me to pay them with the money I can’t get because they can’t respond to a simple document.

Experiencia negativa: Called to make an appointment with a different doctor than the one I had previously seen (that did absolutely nothing for me) and was told I couldn't see another doctor. I would have to stay with the same doctor. Who would stay with a doctor that they are not happy with? As if they were going to pay the bill! I do not recommmend this place at all!

Experiencia fantástica: My experience with Dr. Atkinson and Advanced Orthopedics can be defined in one word: EXCELLENT! From my initial visit, through surgery, post surgical therapy and follow up visits, Dr. Atkinson and the entire Advanced Orthopedics staff was compassionate, professional, and caring. As an avid cyclist, the thought that total recovery time could be as much as an entire year following surgery, was of great concern to me. However, I responded incredibly well the procedure. Within 90 days I was back on the bicycle. In less than six months I was performing at the same level as before my injury. I attribute my recovery totally to the skill of Dr. Atkinson and the entire Advanced Orthopedics team.

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing is the word. Above average skills. My journey began four decades ago, when I apparently damaged my shoulder fire fighting... but no pain, no problem... But in 2002 pain started and a doctor, then, simply gave me a exercise sheet. Last year the pain became horrible and debilitating. On my first visit with Dr. Atkinson...he I immediately knew I have several things wrong. Nine, as we found out. June 24th the good Doctor performed extensive surgery. A few months later, and after physical therapy...full movement, no pain. I highly recommend Dr. Atkinson and SWFL Advanced Orthopedics & Sports Medicine!! None better! Thank you Dr. Todd!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Atkinson was recommended to me by my primary care physician when I injured by shoulder and couldn’t raise my arm. I was hoping to avoid surgery and Dr. Atkinson listened to my concerns and came up with a treatment plan consisting of cortisone shot and physical therapy. I was pleased to regain range of motion and have no pain after about 8 weeks. A few years later, I saw Dr. Atkinson again when my knee started bothering me. The pain in my knee was irritating but not to the point where I wanted to have surgery. Dr. Atkinson listened to my concerns and suggested we try the cortisone and physical therapy since it had worked for me before. The shot and P.T. provided relief for almost a year but eventually I was no longer able to take my morning walk without being in pain and limping; even at rest the knee hurt. I saw Dr. Atkinson again and he showed me how badly the joint had deteriorated and suggested that I think about total knee replacement. He showed me what the “new knee” would look like and explained the surgery. I appreciate that he did not tell me that I needed knee replacement but that he left it up to me. I had the surgery at surgery center instead of hospital and I’m glad I did. It was nice to come home same day and sleep in my own bed. The home health agency that Dr. Atkinson partners with was very good; the nurse and physical therapist from Doctors’ Choice were top notch. After a few weeks, I began going to Dr. Atkinson’s office for physical therapy. Ed and Louise and Morgan are great. They are firm but caring, and while physical therapy is not always fun, it was good experience overall. After 6 weeks I went back to work; after 3 months I was travelling again for work and by 4 months I was back to walking 2 miles in the morning. I would recommend Dr. Atkinson and his physical therapy team to anyone having shoulder or knee pain.

Experiencia fantástica: My wife had shoulder surgery up north about 2 years ago. After over a year in physical therapy, she had very limited movement and still a lot of pain. She was referred to Dr. Atkinson, who said he might be able to help. The results were nothing short of miraculous. She has 100% better movement and no pain. Dr. Atkinson and his team are the best anyone could ask for.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Atkinson is a great surgeon. He fixed my left shoulder and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Dr. Atkinson is soft spoken, kind with good bedside manners and he explains things so well. He even gets out the models to show the procedure and what it involves. He was very concerned when I said I would have no one waiting during the surgery but I convinced him that I would be ok and my husband would be there as soon as he could. Dr. A met with my husband and told him all the things he did to repair my issues. He is so professional and on time. He cares about his patients and even recalls specific details about his patiences personal lives. I highly recommend him!

His entire staff is wonderful, including the physical therapy staff. They are very good at their job and they keep you laughing through it all. I would highly recommend Dr Atkinson and staff and would not hesitate to go back if necessary.

I was extremely satisfied with the care I received from Dr. Atkinson, and with the prompt physical therapy that I received post-op, my shoulder has been great. I referred my wife to their office, and she is having knee surgery with Dr. LaPorta. I highly recommend their services!
