La Paloma Healthcare Center: Opiniones
Experiencia positiva: I was at La Paloma Healthcare Center for a cellulitis infection and to regain strength from dealing with the infection for a very long time. Were it not for the food, I might give a 5-star review, but the food was inexcusably bad. I, and others, ordered out, or had friends and family bring food. I was there for nutrition as well as healing - nutrition was not there for me. The staff was friendly and helpful on all occasions: For me, the CNAs, Nurses, Drs Yumiyyu Gammada, MD, and Jeffrey L.Newman were available, personable, knowledgeable, and helpful. The Physical Therapy and Occupational therapists were outstanding in their attentiveness to the patient which included their knowledge, creativity, and caring, personable treatment. I wish they had an outpatient extension! Also, to note: The lovely grounds! The backyard is beautifully kept and a serene place to walk (or roll!) about and just breathe. There are tables on the patio where patients and their guests can have picnics. Fran P.
Experiencia fantástica: My mom is so happy here. Her nurse Lee is one of the most nicest ladies.
Experiencia fantástica: I was here about 4 years ago, the care i got was amazing. I met so many amazing people who I truly felt that cared about my health and loved what they did and were not here for just a check. Some people including, Jacki Aguilar, Francisca Garcia, Silvia Sanchez, Monica, Alma Moralez, Jazmin Ramirez, Celia. I am truly grateful and if i could give more stars i would.
Experiencia fantástica: To everyone: my wife was recently taken to La Paloma ("the dove") Healthcare Institue for recovery and therapy post surgery. An excellent experience, much more than was anticipated and expected! Skilled nursing with round-the-clock attention and assistance, the attention and care of four (!) doctors who studied and monitored my wife's progress. Medicines and such immediately available as prescribed. A caring staff. Food quite good, and steps above routine hospital food! Post-surgery therapists were knowledgeable, considerate, and experienced. All in all, a professional staff with a very humane touch. My wife and I rate La Paloma Healthcare a full five stars and more. Thank you all so much!
Experiencia fantástica: Myah was really cool and helpful
Experiencia fantástica: Review for La Paloma Healthcare Center – Oceanside, CA During my two-year medical hiatus, La Paloma Healthcare Center became more than just a skilled nursing facility—it became a place of healing, consistency, and perseverance. From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of hospitality and warmth that carried me through one of the most challenging chapters of my life. Facility & Comfort The center itself is bright, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The photos reflect what I experienced daily: open spaces, comfortable rooms, and inviting common areas that feel less like an institution and more like a home. The gardens and gathering areas provided a sense of peace and normalcy, which was invaluable during recovery. ⚕️ Staff & Care The staff at La Paloma embody the word family. Nurses, CNAs, therapists, and coordinators were not only professional but also deeply compassionate. Their attentiveness was consistent—day after day, month after month. They didn’t just provide medical care; they offered encouragement, patience, and genuine human connection. That enduring support gave me the strength to persevere. Hospitality & Support What stood out most was the way the team treated me as a whole person, not just a patient. They balanced medical excellence with emotional support, ensuring I always felt heard and respected. Whether it was physical therapy, daily routines, or simply sharing a kind word, their commitment never wavered. A Place of Healing La Paloma is not just a healthcare facility—it’s a community built on trust, care, and resilience. For me, it was a place where perseverance was nurtured, where comfort was prioritized, and where I was able to rebuild my strength with dignity. ✨ Final Thoughts I am profoundly grateful for the excellent, consistent, and enduring care I received here. La Paloma Healthcare Center will always hold a special place in my story of recovery, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a facility where compassion and professionalism walk hand in hand.
Experiencia negativa: The anger and disgust I have at this moment for this facility is palpable. A family member was taken here after suffering a stroke. He is full Navajo, and his hair was completely shaved off without his consent. A simple conversation to trim it if needed could have been done, but he was treated as a dirty, unkempt old man instead of the family elder that he is. Family was able to move him to a better facility, but it's heartbreaking when he asks to braid his hair and then remembers it's gone. He also has bed sores and has lost a lot of weight. The negligence he endured is reflected in his appearance and health. I pray we are not too late to help him recuperate from the stroke.
Experiencia fantástica: I had a very good care service from everyone staff is wonderful i miss everyone therapy staff does outstanding work thanks to everyone i will request to go back if ever needed
Experiencia fantástica: I don't usually write reviews but I am pleased to write this one. I was discharged from La Paloma last week after spending 3 months there. I was admitted there due to an infection in both legs caused by weeping lymphedema. I also had a stage 4 open wound on my left heel. Thanks to the amazing wound care team Sharon, Jonna and Zachary, the infection is cleared up and my legs have stopped weeping for the first time in years. I am very grateful to them. Being there for so long, I got to know the staff pretty well. They are a wonderful group of people. The nurses and CNAs work very hard to care for their patients and they are also fun to be around. They made my stay very pleasurable. I'm not a person that likes to exercise but the OT and PT teams made therapy a lot of fun. I actually looked forward to my daily sessions with them. If the need ever arises, I would return to La Paloma without any hesitation.
Karen, your review truly brightened our day! We’re immensely grateful for your trust in us and thrilled to hear about your progress! Our wound care, therapy, and nursing teams will be inspired to know they made such a positive impact. On behalf of our entire La Paloma Healthcare team, we wish you ongoing health, happiness, and strength. ☀️
Experiencia negativa: If I could give zeros stars I would. Staff is terrible!! So rude and snobby and act like they run the place, especially the RNA that’s always outside smoking every other 5 minutes. Don’t even bother applying here. Management is no better.

We’re sorry to hear that your time with La Paloma didn’t reflect the supportive culture we strive to uphold. We take all concerns seriously, especially when they involve the professionalism of our staff.

Experiencia fantástica: A relative was admitted to La Paloma for few weeks, mainly for physical therapy. She recovered pretty soon thanks to your amazing Physical Therapy department and also nurses and CNAS. We also would like to express our gratitude to Saray the Receptionist, she was always very professional and supportive always receiving us with a big smile and care.

Experiencia negativa: Had a patient stay and said a specific nurse was rude and mean. I spoke with her once as well and had the same experience, they should really train their staff better in being more empathetic with the patients they care for

Experiencia fantástica: A month ago our family had to hospitalize my grandmother she was at La Paloma for some time, in the beginning we were very impressed by how welcoming and supportive your staff was especially Sarah the front desk person she was always so welcoming and understanding what we were going through.
Dear Rebecca,
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your family’s experience. We’re honored that you entrusted your grandmother’s care to us during such a delicate time. Your mention of Saray and our front desk team means the world to us—welcoming and supporting families with compassion is at the heart of everything we do.
We’ll be sure to pass along your appreciation to our team. Your feedback reminds us why we show up each day with purpose and heart.
With gratitude,

Experiencia fantástica: When i was rehabilitating here, the workers were always so kind and friendly. The rehab team helped me get prosthetics and taught me to walk again. The food was good and the medication was always on time. I would recommend this place for anyone needing skilled nursing!

We are thrilled to hear that our team was able to support you on your rehabilitation journey and help you achieve your mobility goals. It’s always our mission to provide compassionate care, timely medication management, and quality meals that contribute to a positive recovery.

Experiencia negativa: My father went to this nursing home for literally 5 days. I went everyday to check on him. When he complained that he was in pain from not being able to go to the bathroom I then intervened. I made them call a medic to transport my father and I sent him to scripts Encinitas. Needless to say from the care at La Paloma he was in the hospital another 7 days. I will never recommend this place. I highly urge anyone who has to have their family member here to be moved. This place is horrible.
Dear Tasha,
We are truly sorry to learn about what your father went through and the stress it caused your family. Your concerns are very important to us and do not reflect the level of care we aim to provide. Please know that we are looking into what happened during your father’s stay so we can better understand the situation and make sure any issues are addressed.
At La Paloma, our top priorities are keeping our patients safe, maintaining their dignity, and ensuring their comfort. We will share your feedback with our leadership team to help us improve. We would also appreciate the chance to talk with you directly—your thoughts are important to us, and we want to learn from every experience.
Please reach out to us at 760-724-2193 so we can follow up with you personally.
Sincerely,
April at La Paloma Healthcare Center
Experiencia negativa: Kayvon, Tyler and Jennifer paid me $4000 to discharge on the day after my birthday Nov 26 2024, despite still not being able to stand up on my own. Rehab Coordinator Tyler yelled at me and said, “you’re not getting any more physical therapy!”. Social Worker Jennifer grabbed the phone out of my hands and ran down the hall. Kayvon told me to shut up. Overall, this is an illegal practice called patient dumping. Even before that, Ashley Lemus gave me paperwork that she had made up in order to convince me I was being discharged. If you are intelligent, they do not like that because of all the laws they break. Employees are aware but afraid to speak up. Originally, they were going to give me a hotel room for 2 days and a wheelchair, with zero care meetings with doctors (the assigned Dr. Elias didn’t even know who I was.) once they realized I had been keeping track of their activities and I had called State, they became afraid.
Experiencia negativa: Run if they want to put you in there. I was suppose to be there 1 month but only lasted 2 weeks. Just a terrible experience Instead of leaving a long review I will just lowlight my experience..... CNA'S - THE WORST EXCEPT FOR A COUPLE. TIMELY RESPONSE- ALMOST NEVER... DOCTORS- SEEMED TO BUSY TO REALLY CARE... ADMINISTRATION- I THINK THEY TRIED BUT CAME UP SHORT ON TO MANY OCCASIONS FOOD- I WOULDNT FEED MY DOG WHAT THEY TRIED TO GIVE US ALL... ROOM- I WAS PUT IN WITH A DEMENTIA CASE WHO YELLED ALL THE TIME. PT- NOW THAT WAS PRETTY GOOD BUT EVEN THERE THERE WAS A COUPLE OF SLACKERS. I want to spotlight a LVN who worked the Graveyard Shift. She has no business in Healthcare, totally lacked compassion and just rude. I watched as the other man in my room had things that needed to be changed or him soiling himself with no one coming to help him. They just put a blanket on him and told him to wait til morning. Totally unacceptable!! I know it's hard to find good people to work these days but the ones you do find need to be trained on a much higher level. We are talking about people's lives!! So I blame HR for not following through to make sure the people they hire are trained to the best of their ability. We are in trouble as us Baby Boomers are the largest part of the population and this is not good. So I give this place a 0 and hope they all work to get better. I could go in to more detail but think you all get the idea of this place....
Dear Tom,

Experiencia fantástica: It's been 2-1/2 months since I first was admitted into La Paloma Health Center 2 days after I suffered a stroke at the age of 65 years old, and I really had my doubts coming here as to the future of my well-being. At the present time my therapist Diane Andrea Becky have been top notch professional, educated, and truly committed to my full recovery during my stay here. I am very grateful to the staff for my success, thank you. I still have work to do. CNA to thank you all ...Susan MERLE ANDREA ANA TORI LESLIE BLANCA MY NURSE AND GIL MIGUEL VICCI and also Jessica, Tammie and Erika in the Activities Department.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently had the privilege of having a family member cared for by Nurse Joseff, and I cannot say enough about the exceptional service and accommodation he provided. From the moment I walked in, Joseff’s warm and welcoming demeanor made me feel at ease. Joseff’s attention to detail and genuine concern for my well-being were evident in every interaction. He took the time to listen to my concerns, answer all my questions, and ensure I fully understood my treatment plan. His professional expertise, combined with a compassionate approach, truly made a difference in my healthcare experience. One aspect that stood out was Joseff’s ability to accommodate my specific needs. He went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and that my preferences were respected. Whether it was adjusting the room temperature, finding extra pillows, or simply checking in regularly to see how I was doing, Joseff’s dedication to patient comfort was outstanding. Moreover, Joseff demonstrated excellent coordination with the rest of the healthcare team. He ensured seamless communication and efficient care, which made my stay much smoother. His positive attitude and calm presence created a reassuring environment, making a challenging time much more manageable. In a world where healthcare can often feel impersonal, Joseff’s personalized care and thoughtful accommodation were a breath of fresh air. I am incredibly grateful for his dedication and hard work. Thank you, Joseff, for your exceptional service and for making my healthcare experience so positive. You truly embody the best of what nursing can be! I would trust you with my life.

Thank you for the positive review! We appreciate the support.
Experiencia fantástica: La Paloma is fantastic. I brought my brother Tim here from up north. I wasn’t able to talk. From the moment he got here until right now he has done nothing but improve. He talks to his brother and sister on the phone. I’m so very very happy with the way He’s being taken care of at this facility. I highly recommend it. Will is the man in charge of appointments and keeping us informed. He’s very much aware of my brothers case. He’s at the FRONT counter. Will is always charming. He keeps on top of his appointment calendar and they take him to him from his doctors appointments. They keep track of all that. Making arrangements for transportation to and from. Beautiful grounds ! Fantastic staff. I feel blessed to have this place! Wonderful!!!
Thank you for your kind feedback!
Experiencia fantástica: Michael has been a constant help with My stay at La Paloma care facilities. Thanks to many other people's as well. Pauline can't forget her awesome smile and customer service. Marquet My physical therapist has been great with my recovery, and Nessie my quiet confidante..

Experiencia negativa: First of all the management is awfull they don’t want any registry without the permission of their some favorite employees CNA’s Kylie is the worst CNA she eats residence. Food one of residence she has a friend she’s going to his room with her friend and they both eating a food from him. They order a lot of stuff from kitchen and they both eating together she’s eating with that residence they are r races they don’t want anybody there place is very dirty and stinky all the time they don’t do their showers regular employees and they expecting everything from registry all the time they want that so I made whatever they want. Tplease Dsd Brenda she’s a horrible lady. She’s changing her statement every day she DNR to many people because of her employees she don’t want any business in her facility then I don’t know why this place is asking people to work with the registry She’s a liar she don’t want anybody one time she let work the people with the registry in the other day she change her mind because of her favorite season is actually they don’t wanna give her business to registry. Nobody wants to work even the regular employees also frustrated
Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been working at La Paloma I’ve had amazing experience. from CNA to Nurse, I love the Team that I work with , together we strive to give the best care and experience possible to our residents .
Experiencia negativa: This place is horrible. Please do not using this place . Poor service, lacking staffs, workers don’t communicate clear. food is worst than cat food . My husband strongly want to get out from this place . He is very stressful from this place!! My husband is been there for over weeks since he got open heart surgery from Scripps La Jolla. After surgery He had had to see doctor but who ever work there , He send my husband to wrong place . ( different location) . We missed doctor appointment!! I hope owner see this my review! He is getting more sick from this place
Heesun In, we regret to hear that you had this experience with us. Our manager would really like to speak with you more regarding this matter. Please reach out to us at (760) 724-2193. We look forward to hearing from you.
Experiencia fantástica: My mother needed care for late stage dementia and was transported to La Paloma for rehabilitation due to lung infection complications. She ended up as a patient for over a month since her condition is/was challenging. The staff was exceptionally accommodating throughout her stay. The care manager helped us (my father and I) throughout the entire care process and assisted us with next steps. I would highly recommend La Paloma to others. Thank you for taking care of my mother.
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!
Experiencia negativa: . The transportation to and from the facility to anywhere is a joke. The people that pick up from la Paloma are on time. But after you are dropped off. You will wait a hours for pick up.. They will LIE!!always an excuse and an hour late. They will tell you they are 5 minutes away…. lies La Paloma is heavens waiting room Second item: PHYSICAL THERAPY: 7 min A day is what they offered, they would come in while eating or just waking up, and say “you’re on my schedule today so let’s go” and if I said come back later, they said it was a denial and if I took them up on the offer, it was a 5-7 min walk down the hallway and then back to the room and that’s it. Their intention is to keep you there because they do this thing that’s called “ OT””occupational therapy,”. supposedly they do an assessment to see how well you can manage yourself when you leave, (if you leave.) And then in this assessment, the doctor then recommends that you not go home until you are stronger yet they never do anything to get you stronger. It’s obviously their intention is to keep you there. (Insurance co money ). I was there three weeks and I had a total of four sessions of 5 min. . I had a finger amputation I shouldn’t have been there more than a week.. In three weeks I lost 20 pounds because the food was just absolutely disgusting.. Next item, SANITARY PROTOCOLS: . I had to have my dressings changed every day, which didn’t happen, . The first change came with a female, carrying a bag of Band-Aids that were half opened been used before, as she brings them into the room the only place to lay them down is on my dinner table. I just gotten through eating dinner and it was full of dinner, scraps and debris, she proceeded to lay everything down on top of that, I became upset she could not understand why I was upset so I decided to start filming her activities and again she got upset and said I was in violation of her HIPAA rights. As I understand HIPAA is there to protect the patient not the caregivers from their unprofessional and unsanitary methods. after I did the filming , for three days afterwards I was visited by four different staff members threatening me in different ways to delete the recording. I do Not intend to delete it and I do intend on taking this up the chain that are the ones who regulate these nursing homes. I want to give a shout out to “LULU” She was fantastic every time I needed something or I hit the call button she was there within 3 to 4 minutes which tells me something because when I was on her schedule she was always there in the morning 2 cups of coffee before breakfast yet for the whole three weeks , ifI wasn’t on her list , Every time I hit the call button it was at least 20 to 40 minutes. Why can she be there in two and three minutes but nobody else? she wasn’t doing anything special she was very young and unjaded. I would say trying to do the best she could, and she did , where as the others don’t care anymore they just go about their pace, and , no regard to what the patient may be going through. If they have to go to the toilet very badly or if there is an emergency diabetic crash , which I did witness, which brings me to the last item I witnessed a person who was in the bed next to me going through a diabetic, crash. Whatever you call it, he was suffering for air. His eyes were rolled back in his head. I was hitting the button for them to come and screaming for them to come to help him and he took 20 minutes , when they came, they were trying to find the medication to injected him to get him to balance out his blood sugar and they had ran out they did not have any. THEY RAN OUT ON THE LAST PATIENT AND DIDNT RESUPPLY!!! . TRANSPORTATION , the person in charge his name is “Will “ he does a good job except for the people that control the vehicles ,THEY lie. “WILL” Came into my room the morning of discharge and tried to talk me out of this review I am posting. Which is none of his business he does a good job at Transportation stick to it stay out of politics.
Lee Lindquist, we regret to hear that you had this experience with us. We would like the opportunity to find out how we can better assist you in the future. If you are willing, please contact us (760) 724-2193.
Experiencia fantástica: Literally the best staff ever!! Love this place ❤️

Experiencia fantástica: staff is great and caring Doing a great job with my recovery
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did, it means so much to our staff. We appreciate your feedback!
Experiencia fantástica: Great doctors.
Experiencia negativa: I wish I can give this place no stars. Don’t bring your loved one here if your love them. Don’t work here if you actually care about quality care. The nurses are over worked and mostly registry staff are used for CNAs. The CNAs The work culture has no moral. Mostly they no less. They’re lazy and rude. They complain when you actually do your job and hold them accountable. The leadership is a joke. There is no accountability for good care. They allow CNAs to run the facility. Places like this need to be shut down.
Dear Denise, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We take all reviews seriously and use them as an opportunity to improve our services at La Paloma. However, we are a bit surprised by the content of your review as it does not align with the facts. We have carefully investigated the matter and found no evidence to support the claims made in your review. We pride ourselves on maintaining a professional and respectful work environment and always strive to ensure that all our employees are treated fairly and with dignity. That often means we will not fire an employee on the spot for a minor offense, but rather utilize progressive discipline. It is crucial for us to address any concerns that arise, and we encourage open communication between employees and management. If you have experienced any issues during your time with us, we would appreciate it if you could provide more specific details or reach out to us directly so we can address them appropriately. Our goal is to create a positive and supportive workplace for everyone, and we genuinely value the contributions of each team member. We believe that constructive feedback is essential for growth and improvement, but it is equally important to base such feedback on accurate information. Once again, we thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention, and we are always willing to listen and work towards resolving any genuine issues. Best regards, Todd Pratt, Administrator
Experiencia negativa: Keep your loved ones out if you have the power to. Little compassion demonstrated. Little empathy demonstrated. It takes just as much time to deliver information with kindness as it does with a lack of kindness. Medication was not administered even though it was scheduled, my mother was allowed to languish in her own waste, and there was at least one day where her chart was inaccurately dated. There were a few professional, kind people, but overall, patients are not treated with respect or dignity. Ron, a nurse; Saray, at the front desk; nurse practitioner Ann(e); Michael, admissions; and Marquet, the phys therapist were the five who showed consistent care and kindness.
Hi Dara, Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. While we regret to hear that you did not have the best experience at our facility, we are happy to hear that some of our staff did create some positive moments for you. If you are willing, we invite you to reach out to our administrator at (760) 724-2193 so we may identify ways to improve your experience.
Experiencia negativa: Not that good, I have a friend there and it's been a year and he can't see a doctor. The service is poor and the nurses overwhelmed and defensive
Hi S, Thank you for your review. We regret to hear that you had a negative experience with us and have alerted our management team. We would appreciate the chance to discuss your concerns and address them if we can. If you are willing, please reach out to us at (760) 724-2193.
Experiencia negativa: My mom was sent to La Paloma Center after her surgery. Our first experience wasn’t the best, the admission personnel were very impersonal. She is older, disabled and basically half naked, he was pushy and rushing. I felt horrible leaving my mom there. Thank goodness, they moved her to a different room the next day and things were better. The staff seems friendly but nevertheless, they have too many patients for not enough staff. To make the story short, my mom was supposed to be rotating positions every two hours according to her surgeon and the doctor in the location. Well, the nurses never did. The result of that it’s that the small wound after her surgery got bigger so now what was going to be an ambulatory procedure, it’s gonna be another surgery with hospitalization. The other thing is that my mom had a colonoscopy surgery before in order to have this surgery, it was the surgeon's recommendation. Suppostully, in this facility they have a “specialist” to change her poop bag. This bag has to be changed twice a day. Even my mom had to change her own bag in time since the other nurses didn’t want to help her because that is not part of their duties. She is a disabled person, can’t move from the waist down and she had to do the nurses job. My dad and I did it and we are not “specialists”. When she pressed the bottom to call the nurse, they were taking around 20 minutes. It was at that point that she thought that the bottom was broken because they took too long. I can say that the food was good, with a lot of variety. Since this facility is the closest to my house and supposedly they have the “qualified people” it is possible that my mom will go back again. I have my concerns about this. Hope for the best, and the staff gets better.
Experiencia fantástica: Recently, my Father had a stroke and a fall. He was transferred from the hospital to La Paloma. My Father and all of us were anxious about his stay in a skilled nursing center. La Paloma however, far exceeded our expectations. First of all, they treated my father and my family with upmost respect and care. He had a nice, clean room that overlooked the garden and outdoor exercise area. The nursing staff and therapists were attentive and professional and they worked hard to get his strength back so that he could come home. My father liked the food as evidenced by his good appetite. We were all pleased by our La Paloma experience
Experiencia negativa: My stay here was horrible. I knew it going in. even my doctor mentioned something to me about this facility. Administrator acts like a little child and the way he takes care of issue. The lack of responsibility or control over workers is terrible some of the workers here are good some of the CNAs especially but the charge nurses the first words out of their mouth is no my experience was horrible I only had to stay here a few weeks I Can Only Imagine having to stay a minute longer if the administrator is run by Tod. Run! DO NOT STAY HERE!

Experiencia positiva: When discharged from a hospital and being placed at La Paloma Healthcare Center, I was dismayed by the negative reviews I found on the internet. After my three week stay in a room with two other women, I came away with my own opinion. This is an institutional setting and no, things did not always go my way but I witnessed, and experienced, many acts of kindness and good care. Management staff operates from a central, semi-open workspace enabling an element of interaction as ambulatory patients wander through and wheelchair bound patients sit and observe the comings and goings of management, care staff and visitors throughout the day. Patient care staff appears to enjoy working together and they often assist each other in providing care. Personally, I greatly appreciated the person that helped me settle in after my late arrival from the hospital and the person helping me with a much desired shower the next morning. My med nurses were the best! The quality of physical therapy I received at La Paloma impressed my home care therapists Lunch time in the dining room is focused on the individuals that are wheelchair bound and need assistance or are unable to feed themselves. Daily, I observed the caregivers slowing down their pace to focus on the person(s) they were assisting with smiles, teasing and conversation. Breakfast with coffee served the way I like it, fried eggs as I requested from the kitchen, and gazing out on the patio and beautiful grounds was a great way to start my day! Yes, I would stay at La Paloma again if needed. NOTE: My stay was in the old facility. I could see the new facility under construction on the hill above us.
Experiencia fantástica: I have worked here for 7 years! I absolutely love it and recommend it to everyone I know. I have had several family friends here as patients and all have had a great experience. I absolutely recommend La Paloma as the place for post acute services if they are needed!
Experiencia fantástica: My husband was at La Paloma for two weeks for some rehab. The PT and OT were fantastic and the staff were friendly, helpful and responsive. We could not have been more pleased with our experience at La Paloma.
Experiencia positiva: So far I am very happy with this facility. The staff have all been great. I have received immediate feedback per all my family’s questions and concerns. My mom was moved to a nicer room after our request. My dog can visit with me!!!! The Dr. , Admissions Coordinator, Entry Coordinator , nurses and physical therapist are ,all, professional and kind.
Experiencia positiva: My father had a fall while on vacation and fractured his hip. He was far from home. He lives in Central Valley up north and I live in La County. He was in a hospital in San Diego and we had him transferred to this facility to get him a little closer to me while he was strong enough for us to drive him safely home. La Palomo Healthcare Center has been good to my dad. They have been taking him to therapy daily and the nurses and staff treat him good. He is 85 and I was very worried of him being alone. I’ve been out to visit him two times and I’ve very happy with his care. I’ve talked to the nurses, dr and social worker and we have a good plan in place so that I can take my dad home safely. I see my dad getting stronger with his therapy. I want to thank everyone at La Paloma for there great service! We appreciate you!
Experiencia negativa: there two months, i came home with bed bugs,
Experiencia negativa: Very rude employee that I was just on the phone with
Experiencia negativa: DO NOT GO TO THIS FACILITY !!! Worst place for health care for you or your family . My mom got admitted and she was not taking care at all . She was left without care . Day 1 , she was place in an awful room. Day 2 she’s still wearing the same gown from the hospital. No change or sponge bath. She ask for breathing treatment and no one came to help and she’s already having difficulty breathing and I called the nurse station numerous times. No one answered. My mom can see that few staff just standing in the front and talking. Day 3 . She ask for her c pap for her to help fall asleep. No help . The help button for the patient to call is useless. And the phone at the front desk never get answered. So I force my mom to get discharge regardless of her condition, it’s better she stay at home than the facility will kill her . Worst facility for health care . Do not use them .

Experiencia negativa: PT , OT & Activities I would rate a 5. CNAs, Night nurses and Ashley I would rate less than 1 if I could. Waiting 2 1/2 hours for somebody to help you get to the bathroom to the point that I was trying to get myself to the bathroom Fell, broke my back and now in the hospital waiting for surgery. Night nurses super lazy and actually sigh when you ask them for medicine or help. Received Covid & Pneumonia at the facility, temperature of 102 the day I was sent home, ended up admitted to the hospital. Told by Ashley (administration) And if I left I wouldn’t never be welcome back. You would think that the new administration some things would change it’s very sad when this is considered a three star skilled nursing facility
Donna Fontenot, we regret to hear that you had a negative experience with us. Here at La Paloma Healthcare Center, we strive for excellence, and are disappointed to hear that you received anything less. We will look into this matter to make sure this does not happen again.
Experiencia negativa: If I could give this place no stars I would. My mother is currently a patient at this facility. I have been trying to get someone on the phone for three days straight. On Thursday, I called and left my name and phone number for the nurse to call me back. It is Saturday and I am still waiting for someone to call me back. On Friday I called 18 times and got no answer. And there is no voicemail box for me to leave a message. Nobody has called me back. I have never experienced such an unprofessional situation like this. Even my mother who is the patient there cannot get anybody to come and speak with her and help her. And this is the second time that my mother has been placed in this facility and she has never in her life been so uncomfortable. She has had a sore on her back for two days now and can’t get anybody to come in and look at it and help her. I think that that is absolutely atrocious. I am two seconds from calling a lawyer and speaking with them about this situation. If I do not get a call back today, I will be doing that first thing Monday morning. I think this place is borderline malpractice. Patients are being ignored. When my mother hits the call button, it takes two hours or more to get somebody in her room. I will not allow my mother to come back to this facility again

Experiencia negativa: I was a patient here in 2018. I had a major leg reconstruction surgery and needed to reside here for nearly 2 weeks as I couldn’t care for myself post surgery and no one was able to help me at home due to my husband deploying. I was 26, so very young to be in a skilled nursing facility. This place was trash and I was treated very poorly to the point I, very irately, had to threaten to leave to be taken seriously. The occupational therapy team was great and helped me once they realized how bad it was, and if it wasn’t for them I would have forced myself back to the hospital somehow. Malpractice definitely took place and I wouldn’t recommend my worst enemy to be there. Especially my first few days/nights, my medication regime was severely interrupted. I didn’t have proper equipment which resulted in my leg becoming very swollen, and I was even placed in the wrong size room. My insurance approved a private to semi private room and I was placed in a large one. What’s laughable is after I caused such a scene they tried making it seem like the eventual room upgrade was them doing me a favor. This place was terrible and I honestly should have pressed malpractice charges for my treatment.
Thank you for your feedback. La Paloma is always looking for ways to improve our care, in the last four years we have made several improvements. What you shared is not the outcome that La Paloma strives for. Our employees are always trying to make our patients’ stays as positive as possible. Providing services that ideally get them healthier and stronger.
Experiencia positiva: The Dr. who was assigned to me by my inurance company when I was here for 5 weeks only came to see me one time and I was asleep. The head nurse was great, but, he left shortly after I did. You have good and bad people in all facilities. Many are looking for a better position somewhere else. It's human nature. The food in general is not very good in most nursing homes because they have to serve so many residents and your choices are limited. They will bring you something of a substitute like a quesadilla or yoghurt or juice and peanut butter crackers if you just couldn't eat the meal. It was a tough time because of my condition but it was only one of two places that had nurses who could give IV's around the clock.
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We are happy you found our staff to be able to support your IVs here at La Paloma Healthcare Center. We look forward to serving you again if a need should arise!
Experiencia negativa: They don’t answer the phone. Called 5 times today 4/26/21 and they do not answer!!
Rod Blackman, we truly appreciate your honest feedback. We have hired a dedicated receptionist that sees to every call be answered in a timely fashion.
Experiencia fantástica: La Paloma has friendly, and most important, qualified, proficient and HELPFUL staff. They are prompt in helping my father with anything he needs and they are providing great care. They allow visits through the glass door (due to the pandemic precautions), where he can use a phone to talk to me while I use my cell phone. My father has even said how good La Paloma is, especially compared to the nursing home he was in, in March.
Experiencia negativa: If you have a choice, look elsewhere before sending a loved one to la paloma. DO NOT BELIEVE THE PHOTOS POSTED. I was duped by Google reviews which is why I am writing this to prevent others from having the terrible experience my mom had (I think employees are writing reviews to improve the ratings). This place is overcrowded, looks like decor hasn't been updated since the 70s and is dirty. When my mom was dropped off, the curtains next to her had a huge stain that looked like blood. She was put into an overcrowded room with 2 other people (3 people to a room). No one talked to us or let her know what was going on. Her roommate and CNA were the only sources of information. My mom begged me not to leave her alone on the first night. Things did get better in the sense that she got good overall care from PT'S and OT's, and ultimately her care allowed her to go home. Her cna's were very helpful and nice, but definitely overly busy. Some of her CNA's were truly going above and beyond. Her wound care was supposed to happen every day, and they did not follow through on this plan. However, the wound care nurse Aldrin was amazing and on top of everything. He gave my mom a lot of information and checked on her every day when he was there. My mom cried When she said goodbye to him. When he was not there her wounds were not dressed each day as her plan stated. I had to talk with management about this and about the stain on her curtain and they did fix it immediately. The furniture is old, busted and broken. Everyone working seemed overworked. Food is not healthy and reminded me of badbad element school cafeteria food. Chicken fingers and tater tots were served on her first day. Overall if you have no choice but to go here, it is important to speak up and advocate for yourself or your loved one to get everything you need. They responded promptly when I raised concerns but it made me worried about all the people who don't have someone to speak up for them. If I could do it again I would have looked elsewhere before committing to this location. Once you're admitted moving to a new location is very difficult as medications are a mess and take forever to arrive at la Paloma. My mom had a very rough experience, she is definitely traumatized, and I am thankful she is out after only 2 weeks.
Kathryn, Thank you for your review. I'm truly sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your mother's care. Please give me a call if you have a moment to chat. I would love to learn more so that we can improve.Scott, Administrator(760) 724-2193
Experiencia negativa: I actually chose to stay here for my family and friends convience to visit. A family member had been here recently, they did not have enough knowledge to help him. I came here for P.T., don't come here if you have health issues, other than what you are there for. They only see your broken bone and not the whole you, they never take into account the possibility that your broken leg is not why you cannot raise your arms above your head. The reason why is in your file, but they don't care, if you have dietary issues don't expect the cook (or anyone else) to care, you get what they serve (I lost 4 lbs. In 10 days). You get a roommate period, (some rooms have Jack and Jill bathrooms) shower rooms are down the hall and you are watched while you shower, check all modesty at the door you will get it back when you leave. Staff needs to be informed of outside Drs. Appointments in advance. While at doctors appointment someone needs to sign that you were there and if there are any changes. Changes in medication need to be reported immediately, getting any changes will take awhile, but you cannot supplement with meds from home. At one Drs. Appointment, my cortisone dose dropped from 10mg. to 9mg. , by the next day they did not have 1mg tablets so they decided that giving me 5mg of cortisone was perfectly adequate. It would have been more appropriate, until they were ready to dose @9mg, to dose me @10 mg, Apparently no one here knows that the natural cortisone amount is 7mg. Dropping the dose of cortisone from 10mg to 5mg is just asking for an adrenal shutdown, I have been on cortisone since 1984, I know more about it than the 'nurse's' do. I left AMA before they could kill me with my own medication and diseases. Medication doses and time need to be carefully monitored . Nursing in this home is confusing, when you push your call button the employee who answered said that they would tell a nurse, who told the next up nurse, who was the one who could make a decision. Never met the Dr. ( that I know of), NP was nice, only there M -F. Found weird rash on Saturday, asked for dx and treatment, nurse asked if I had had it before, if I had it before I would not need a diagnosis Don't expect an observant staff. I had packed and left with two rolling bags and small belonging packages. Then we went to Burger King to get me some real food. Realized that I had forgotten "My Pillow" and went back. And then they noticed that I was gone, not very observant, except that I freely went with my man, they didn't even know that I had left. Hope that your kin doesn't wander, because they won't notice that they were gone until they come back. If you choose to stay here "Good Luck", if a loved one decides to stay here pay close attention and let the staff know that you are there. I forgot a charger there, well marked but always a problem, when I first used it, I ruined the phone for all other chargers, ruined that phone with ginger ale. Charger has only worked, since then on my tablet. Good luck with cheap Chinese knockoff.
Experiencia negativa: Bad !! ! Nurses failed to provide good and clean services ! Had to switch rehabilitations ! NURSES ARE DISGUSTING AND JUST UNBELIEVABLE ! UNBELIEVABLE! wish I could give it no stars ! Bad
Tiffany, We would like to have a better understanding about your experience. Please reach out to me at your earliest convenience and we will do our best to resolve this with you. Scott, Administrator
Experiencia fantástica: Caring people.
Experiencia positiva: Nice facility
Experiencia fantástica: My 90 year old father was cared for here after a fall. He was given physical therapy and occupation therapy, as well as routine medical care. I couldn't say more positive things about everyone we dealt with there, from the physician assistant, the social worker , the nursing staff to the maintenance staff. They were all responsive, caring, well-trained and took a personal interest in our father's well-being. This was just an overall positive experience for our father and family and so different from what we had experienced with our mother at another facility in North San Diego County, which was efficient, but not as dedicated in their care of their patients. Never a great thing when you have to be in one of these facilities, but La Paloma certainly made our father's stay a beneficial one.
Experiencia positiva: Pt program was very helpful . Their heating and air conditioning is super old needs upgrade . Temp either too high or too low .
Experiencia fantástica: My 91 year old grandmother was cared for here for here for about 3 weeks, and the care was wonderful. We were uncertain of sending her here, but are SO glad we did! They worked on her physical therapy daily, and were very accommodating. The facility was always clean and tidy. Everyone was very helpful and friendly! A lot of the employees came into her room to wish her well when she was released, and were very informative!
Experiencia negativa: Wait time from buzzer to response often as long as 45 minutes. If you are stuck on a bed pan that long it is bad!!!? Or looking for your pain meds also very bad. Facilities and food okay. Help sucks! Been 4 days since seeing a doctor. No clue about objectives on getting out, why on restricted fluids. Also no ocupational therapy in 4 days here. Supposed to be every day. Ask me what i think of the place!!!!
Experiencia fantástica: If I could give LaPaloma Healthcare Facility 10 stars , I would. I was very impressed with All the staff, from administration to CNA's, Nurses and physical therapists. The cleanliness is extraordinary - on going on a daily basis in every room. There was a wide variety of meals with substitutions available upon request. I thank everyone for making my 3 week stay so pleasant. Would return if the need ever arises again.
