Marshfield Medical Center - Eau Claire

Experiencia positiva: Came in on the 4th of January by ambulance. Went straight from the doctor office to this hospital by ambulance. Nurse that checked me was in my was scolding for not bringing my glasses and contact stuff. Told her I didn't get to go and back a bag, I was loaded up right at my appointment she still scolded me. Operating doctor and staff were amazing. My night nurse went above and beyond. When my family left for the night at 8 they asked the nurses at the station to bring me water. At 9 I didn't have water, buzzed and asked if I could get a sandwich as I had eaten in over 24 hours. 9:40 I had to buzz again because she didn't bring me anything. My night nurse answered and when I explained, he was not happy. Media to say he got me water and a sandwich. The next day I was to be released after an iv antibiotic at 1. At 1:30 someone comes in and asks if I'm ready to bust out. Yes but I'm supposed to have an iv first. She said she didn't know anything about it. 2:00 I finally got a nurse but didn't get meds until 15 minutes later. I get that everywhere is short staffed and some patients are more difficult than others. But when all I asked for was water and a sandwich, I didn't think I was out of line. I even unplugged my own IV pole to go to the bathroom so I didn't have to wait or inconvenience anyone. The call buzzer would ring for 10+ minutes at a time before being answered. You have to be your own advocate to get what you need versus being checked on like 5 years ago. You were often asked before you had a chance to call the nurses station. Now if you don't call, you might not get checked on by some staff. Not all as there are some very good ones in health care.
