Experiencia fantástica: There are so many wonderful things to say about Encompass Chattanooga. If you’re not staying in Encompass, you’re not getting the care that you deserve. First time in a rehabilitation center Surgery: Lower Lumbar Spinal Fusion surgery Duration in Hospital: 4 days at Erlanger Reason: post surgery rehabilitation care w/ Parkinson’s disease early onset Stay: 10 days Due to Parkinson’s disease fall risks my surgeon requested I stay at a rehab. I chose Encompass they have a reputation for longer daily physical therapy sessions. More than an hour as I heard about other places. You’ll have a team looking after you they are accessible anytime. The staff I encountered has been there 10 to 15 years. All well trained certified and very cautious about their patients. On your daily schedule there will be three hours a day of occupational, physical or personalized therapy. Three hours didn’t seem like such a big deal, but believe me you’ll be tired when you come back to your room. Definitely not like the hospital where they wake you up all the time, they come in to check on a regular schedule. The rooms are large, bright and clean. They change linens on a regular schedule or ask they will change them. A dietitian meets with you to go over your diet. Then a person comes around every 2 days with an iPad for your menu selections. Keep in mind it’s a commercial kitchen. It’s made for low/no sugar or low/no sodium diets. It could be better, I thought it’s the best they can do within those confines. You can order extra & they have a snack pantry, vending machines. Family can bring you or you can order delivery foods. I really enjoyed my stay, I got to know the staff & other patients as well. The attitude of the staff to get you well, healthy enough to “ring the bell” and leave Encompass with the feeling of Independence.

Experiencia fantástica: Encompass health is absolutely the finest place I’ve ever been they have most skilled and most kind people I’ve ever met. They constantly are helping you with whatever needs you may have. I cannot say anything more than they are the greatest.

Experiencia fantástica: Broke my hip and shoulder on right side of my body, encompass made everything so easy and enjoyable to get rehab, all employees are fantastic you couldn't ask for nicer folks, all are on same page to help you anyway they can.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a brain tumor removed and I lost mobility of the left side of my body. I am a veteran and was referred to Encompass for rehabilitation. I was unable to stand or walk or use my left arm or hand. The personel, staff and nurses at Encompass helped me to learn to become independent and regain the use of my whole body again. They were very empathetic to my condition and encouraged me with their positive attitudes and interactions. I highly recommend anyone in need of physical rehab to take advantage of the professionals at Encompass.

Experiencia fantástica: Encompass rehab was absolutely wonderful. They did in seven days where the nursing home could not do an 88. I have broken both femurs in three years. This was my facility while staying there in rehab. It was the best thing I have ever done.

Not once, but twice if you want your family to have Therapy great treatment and to get well quickly. This is the place to bring them. It's peaceful . The staff is phenomenal. The food is phenomenal. It doesn't seem like it's a hospital at all.

Experiencia positiva: I worked with PT, OT, and a little speech. All therapists knew what they were doing and were great to work with. They were all very nice but knew how to motivate me to help me get closer to my goal of walking again!

My case worker Angela who went over and beyond making sure I get my hospital equipment at home. Sara &Molly are the best PT & OT within 8 days I am able to walk, dress myself,etc Nursing staff Cathy Tyson for giving me tools on how to get in/ out bed without hurting myself. Kee Kee from housekeeping.she give her all making sure my room is clean. Kee Kee has a great sense of humor.

Experiencia fantástica: The care I received from Encompass was wonderful. The therapists, nurses, techs and other staff were well trained and very interested in my meeting my goals and my comfort. My 2 PT therapists were Sonya and Corbin. They were fantastic. I also worked with Amanda, she was so good my confidence went up. Shelby was my OT partner. I love her so much, she made me work hard but always help me meet and beat the task. There are many other people I could name, but Encompass has such a great staff, it would take all day. THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL REHABILITATION JOURNEY.

(doctor's, nurse's, tech's, occupational therapist's, physical therapist's, speech therapist's, kitchen crew, maintainence, electricians, case manager ect.) They were quick to respond when ever I pushed my call light as well as quick to take care of my needs. I received good care. They were kind, considerate, thoughtful and patient. I would recommend Encompass Health Rehab Hospital to anyone who may need this kind of care before going home from a hospital stay.

Experiencia negativa: My experience was both positive and negative! If I could give a star rating for each department it would be different. Therapy was a great experience and I loved getting up to go participate in therapy. My personal OT and PT workers were amazing and very helpful as were any others I had at different times. I was there to get stronger and be ready to go home after having surgery from a C4/5 neck brake. The Dr. was very good and attentive to my needs but even with the orders he'd written there was problems on a regular basis with most nurses following orders. I checked my meds each time before swallowing anything and if I didn't recognize something I'd question it. As a result of not following orders to turn me in bed having a spinal cord injury I came home with a bad pressure sore on my back. It was obvious and I was told shortly before being discharged that my skin looked good after I'd stressed concerns that my backside was stinging and felt like it was on fire. Yes, it hurt so bad but it was ignored and I'm very upset because I'm having to deal with this now at home and it's causing me problems with continuing to try healing from my neck brake. I was sent home with nobody here and living alone I didn't have a choice but to fend for myself. It's been incredibly difficult and I wasn't physically ready to come home. The first night home I tried to stay awake all night because I couldn't transfer anywhere to sleep. I didn't have a hospital bed but even then I needed help. It was a nightmare! I didn't get my medicine for over a week because there wasn't anyone who could or would get it to me. I really was about to just give up. It didn't even make sense for me to be here anymore and I thought I might die! The exhaustion, open painful sore which was and still is causing me to have cold, clammy sweats and chills and my doggie to take care of was just too much and falling having to call for help. I came home to an empty refrigerator and I mean empty! Nothing to drink even! I just drank water from the sink when taking Tylenol which I fortunately had already. I really couldn't think straight and wasn't able to make decisions well but forced to do so. After about a week sadly I gave up my Maltese of 10 years. I then figured a way to order online with my ucard protein shakes and bars so that's what I've lived on and then recently my neighbor discovered what was going on and has brought me food when she cooks. Case Management was awful at handing my discharge. The person who handled it didn't have anything set up for me to return home safely. In fact they wrote that I lived with my daughter and she'd be taking care of me. They all knew from the start that I lived alone!! Their notes also said that I was found after falling and taken to Erlanger in TN which isn't true either. I fell at home alone and called 911 after dragging myself to where I could call for help nearly 5 hours after falling. I was taken to Hamilton Medical in Dalton, GA only to be sent home alone saying my neck wasn't broken. The next day I called 911 again and this time Hamilton Medical ER rushed into the room saying don't move your neck is broken and put a neck brace on me. Then arrangements were made to transport me to Erlanger where I eventually had surgery. That's a completely different story than what Encompass conjured up. I wouldn't ever send anyone to Encompass if they have a spinal cord injury because the nurses won't or maybe don't know how to properly care for a person with such an injury. The room I was in was dirty and could cause serious health problems such as infection especially when there's an open wound involved. I took pictures of different areas of my room that I'll try posting if it'll allow.

Experiencia fantástica: My experience at Encompass was stellar! With few exceptions the staff put every effort into helping regain strength, endurance and autonomy. The nutrition department was one of the most key elements contributing to my recovery! It is my experience that without good nutrition, every other outcome is diminished. Kudos to the Dietary Department! I am grateful for every person that helped me at Encompass! Hats off to all at Encompass!

My Speach Therapy has help me understand my memories, and stay focused on the now. I'm greatful for that. My P.T. has helped regain my confidence in my mobility. Sara and her student has gave me hope. They both been my on my side from day one. I would highly recommend Encompass. 10 out of 10 most definitely. To all the staff I could not say enough. Unfortunately my mother’s insurance denied coverage for Encompass but Jill helped us every step of the way. She was prompt returning calls, informative, professional, and patient with me as this was the first time dealing with in patient rehabilitation.

Experiencia negativa: While I was there during my seven day rehab period I was given gluten to eat twice(I have celiac disease and gluten ataxia). The day I leave I notice my wallet is missing. I ended up having to file a police report because someone in the hospital has stolen from me. I will note that the therapists were great and the staff has been fully cooperative through this investigation. If my wallet can be recovered I’ll change the review.

Scott Rowe is incredibly nice and will listen to any comments or concerns you may have. Overall, the nursing staff has been a positive experience. However, there have been times when I've pressed my call button and no one came between 15-30+ minutes. That would be my only negative comment. Regardless, I'd recommend this facility to anybody.

Experiencia negativa: Most of the nurses are very nice unless you get the 3 shift nurse with the attitude and never check on her patients. Another thing I didn't not like is they put 2 patients in the same room which is personally unsafe due to virus and other thing that can be passed in the hospital. Location was convenient but doctors are not aware of all different type of conditions another down fault.. hopefully we will not have to go back if so will recommend a different location..

Experiencia fantástica: I came here after being in the hospital for a week couldnt walk, move my legs or do anything for myself. In 2 weeks I improved so much, they pretty much saved my life. The staff was amazing, I'll always be so grateful of everyone there made me feel at home. Thank you Sonya, grace and shelby, you guys helped me so much and I'll always appreciate everything.

Experiencia fantástica: My mom was here for 2 weeks the staff went beyond the call of duty from the front desk who made sure a wheelchair was waiting on me daily when i arrived. The nurses therapist the doctors dietary housekeeping. I was able too eat meals with mom daily. I could rave on and on this facility was the best I've been in and I am a retired health care provider

Experiencia negativa: Nobody here takes responsibility, 1 nurse for 6 patients care for my dad was the absolute worst! Is Dr Davis really a doctor? Spent less thsn two minutes they said my dad was fit to be released, they never did a ct as promised. My dad is in surgery now.

Experiencia negativa: I initially arrived at HealthSouth November 11, 2016 in very bad shape due to unexplained complications from spinal fusion surgery. I had spent the previous 2 months in ICU in a hospital and HealthSouth was highly recommended to my family as they were alleged to be capable of handling a difficult case such as mine. I had a trach, unable to walk, very weak, unable to swallow which required a feeding tube, and barely able to write. Ten years prior, I had gastric bypass which prohibited blood thinners and NSAIDS. This was noted on my chart. For reasons best known to them, they gave me blood thinners and NSAIDS. My wife was there daily and asked them on November 15 what it was that they were about to give me and the nurse told her NSAIDS and blood thinners. My wife instantly jumped into action and told the nurse she was not to do that and explained why. The nurse shrugged and said she would have to talk to the medical director and she did just that. It was obvious he didn't like to be questioned but she is not one to be ignored or intimidated. Four days after admission I gestured to the nurse that I felt nauseated but was ignored. My wife had to go home that night. She had not been home an hour before the nurse called to tell her I was vomiting copious amounts of blood and was being sent to Erlanger where I stayed for 8 days in ICU. On the 23rd I was returned to HealthSouth. I never felt safe on the nights my wife did not stay the night but never told her because this was also taking its toll on her. When she was there, any time I rang for a nurse, they came promptly and were attentive. When I was alone, they would ignore my call. The nurses were not properly trained how to measure residuals in my feeding tube I hated this place especially at night. Once the nurse came to check my feeding tube and accidentally left it open which drenched the bed and myself with formula. When I rang for the nurse and finally got her to understand what was happening, she sent this sweet assistant (I wish I could remember her name, but she was one of 3 kindest staff I encountered. She had tats. She gave me a complete bath and changed my gown and sheet. Being unable to speak I mouthed "thank you so much." November 28, I once again complained of not feeling good and was rushed back to Erlanger with actively bleeding ulcers. I returned on December 9. Due to their indifference about my tube feeding, I had shrunk to 130 lbs. Being a 6'1" man makes that a terrible sight! My wife had enough and demanded I be sent back to the original hospital as they never had an issue with tube feedings. In summary, I always felt as if the nursing staff walked around in fear of the medical director. Knowing I was non-verbal, they would keep their backs to me as much as possible because when I needed something with them in the room, I would wave my hands. The young lady with tats and the young lady who worked days who would talk to (not at) me were angels. She was an assistant but was going back to nursing school. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the therapist Alan. He tried his best to work with me even though I was very weak. I truly believe if my wife had not been by my side and had been the type who didn't do her own homework, I would be dead. I pass by that place now and just thank God He took care of me in spite of the unacceptable nursing care. If you must go to this place, by all means, take an educated person with you.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband was there for occupational and physical therapy following a traumatic brain injury. The staff were attentive kind and very professional. He’s been in many hospitals over the years and had less ts of physical therapy, and Health South Chattanooga fulfilled all his needs and made his therapy a joyful experience. They took care of me, too. Since we lost ve the ver 2 h s away, they arranged a bed for me in his room, and I was able to get meals at their facility: very tasty and convenient. I highly recommend Health South Chattanooga.

Experiencia negativa: With my mother after having a brain aneurysm, they were rude and uncaring. Worst bedside manner I've ever seen from healthcare professionals. And I wouldn't call them professionals by any stretch of the word.

Experiencia fantástica: All the nurses are super nice. The physical and occupational therapist are amazing. They really helped me get back on my on feet again. They worked with insurance to help me get the most out of my stay. They even helped me schedule doctor's visits while I was there and provided transportation. Also they have some of the best hospital food ever.
