Experiencia fantástica: I can't say enough about Physical Therapy Center of Chesapeake. It was recommended for my wife by a family member when we were moving into the area last fall. She has Parkinson's and we were looking for therapy continuity from another state. Gwen and Sarah have done a truly amazing, transformative job with her in the 11 months that we've been here, more than her previous PT for three years prior. And they had no problems pivoting when we needed to shift focus to her ankle after a fall last March. When I needed PT for my own back, I did not hesitate to say this is where I wanted to have therapy, and will recommend my father come here for his upcoming PT needs. (By the way, I also had Gwen and Sarah as my core team) I felt the plan was appropriate for my ability level when I first came in, advanced with me, pushed boundaries when time, backed off some when I had a re-injury, and adjusted with whatever was going on with me that day. I've also found the staff to be very creative in their approach to handling issues and are not afraid of a challenge nor a left turn out of nowhere -- something I saw in my own therapy and with others'. I just finished my formal therapy and am continuing on in their available wellness program. But it's more than just the therapy approach, it's the staff and the vibe of the place. From the front office faces to the therapists and aides, the entire staff has been friendly, kind, patient, helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and dare I say fun! I'm not fond of places where the atmosphere and staff are stuffy, and thankfully the staff here knows how to laugh -- at themselves, with each other, and with us. I'm always interested to see what conversations and joking are going to transpire that day amongst the staff and clients. They make you feel like family. It is clear that they love doing what they do, and with whom and where they're doing it. They are your biggest cheerleaders and genuinely care about you. Plus, the facility is clean, well-equipped, relatively spacious, and they take you on time. Who can ask for anything more? And if it sounds like I'm gushing, I am because it is deserved.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a GREAT experience here! Last summer I had a tear in my rotator cuff. I spent the fall working with Gwen and Sarah building my muscle back. I was finished just before the Holidays. Then sadly, a simple sneeze sent me back to Gwen and Sarah again. This time for frozen shoulder in the SAME shoulder! We worked together for a few months and a year later my shoulder isn't completely back to 100% (as frozen shoulder is a VERY slow process) but it is back to a place where I can continue on my own. Overall, I loved the people here! They are so kind and fun! Everyone from the Ladies at the front to the therapist (even the ones who don't work directly with you) are great! I hope I don't need PT again but if I do I will be going back! Thank you for all you have done!

Experiencia fantástica: I love this place! I found them by accident and am so glad that I did. I have been to larger facilities and gotten ok treatment from some good therapists. At Physical Therapy Center Of Chesapeake I got much more individualized care and personal attention. I went here after each of my knee replacements last August and this February. Key benefits are: -They take Anthem insurance. AND they do everything needed to get continuing approval for visits. -It's easy to get an appointment. -They are FULLY staffed. -The facility is clean with a variety of well-maintained equipment. -Most importantly, the staff is professional, knowledgeable, encouraging and kind. -My knee team was Gwen and Sarah. Besides the formal intake and discharge assessments, every week they would ask me specific questions. They asked about my activities, pain, difficulties in tasks, and overall feeling about my recovery in order to modify my treatment. This was done to a degree that I had not received elsewhere. I am thrilled with my new knees. If I ever need PT again, I will return here. Physical Therapy Center Of Chesapeake is an outstanding group of caring folks who totally know the meaning of patient care and customer service.

Experiencia fantástica: Physical Therapy Center of Chesapeake is outstanding. I was referred here for my chronic neck pain. I had a very limited range of motion, neck pain while driving and during the other daily routine activities. I also could not sleep comfortably or throughout the night without constantly readjusting. My initial visit was with Gwen. She evaluated me(my MRI was previously sent over), we spoke about my medical history and she went over the exercises that I would be doing the next couple of months. She demonstrated every exercise and ensured I was doing everything correctly. Throughout my visits Gwen, Sarah, Nicole and Carla gave awesome instruction. They are all professional, knowledgeable and caring. I now have range of motion in my neck and it’s no longer stiff and painful. Once I completed the physical therapy I was given the home exercise program. Thank you again for all your assistance and care. I truly appreciate it!

Experiencia fantástica: Through a referral by the navy doc, I recently completed about 2 months of physical therapy after straining a muscle in my lower back. I was a bit apprehensive, having been through physical therapy elsewhere for previous injuries with less than stellar results. It was immediately evident that the level of knowledge and expertise here was well above that of my past experiences. Nick, who I mostly worked with, and the entire team were friendly and professional and developed a therapy plan that met me at my level and maximized the impact of the time I spent in our sessions. They even fit me in to two sessions one week when there was no time slot available in order to keep my recovery on track. (I forgot to schedule until late in the week leading up to it). My back feels better than it did even prior to my injury, and I am confident that I was imparted the knowledge necessary to avoid future injury.

Experiencia fantástica: I was referred to this office after a fall with an injury to my Right shoulder. Ken Loud and Dawn helped me with exercises to strengthen my shoulder and took the time to explain my MRI results and what that meant to my recovery. They made sure that I und e stood the why as well as the how of the exercises and everyone in the office is very friendly and caring to all the patients who are seen.

Experiencia fantástica: I had excruciating low back pain, and very limited movement. I tried the ER, anti inflammatories, prednisone, lidocaine patch, muscle relaxers, chiropractic, massage - all of it. Then I tried PT at Chesapeake Physical Therapy. My first week I was worried, I struggled, didn’t feel much progress. Just 5 and a half weeks later I have my life back. I am not taking Aleve (annd more) every day anymore to manage pain. I can now handle daily activities, and chores - but I also hiked 4 miles! I could barely walk a few weeks ago. Not only do I feel better - and really I’m pain free - but I also have hope to do some things I haven’t done in years. Wayne, Nick and the staff here have made an effort to personalize my treatment, have listened to my needs and goals and helped get me through some of the worst pain of my life. I cannot recommend this practice enough. They are knowledgeable, thorough, supportive, and hilarious (you cannot get through this pain without a little laughter along the way!). I am so very glad that I came here. Ringing the bell and graduating today was bitter sweet because I will truly miss everyone! Thank you for helping me. - Mel

Yes, you have to do the work, but with the support and encouragement of really GREAT people, you look forward to better mobility, better health, and a better outlook on your future physical self. Ringing the bell for graduation is a happy/sad event.... happy because I feel confident in managing my pain but sad that I won't be seeing everyone on that regular basis. PTCOC is a treasure I found through another person that feels like I do, and I'm truly thankful for every friend I found there. Thank you Ken, Dawn, Carla, Jed and everyone else that works there. Experiencia fantástica: I had an awesome rehab experience. Everyone was always pleasant. My physical therapists were Gwen and Sara. They were very patient and attentive. My activities were very challenging and were well suited for my knee replacement. I was given a home exercise plan to follow a long w/ the bands. I'm happy to say that I can resume my normal activities mainly dancing. Kudos to Gwen and Sara.

Experiencia fantástica: Went for rehab.after surgery on my knee - torn meniscus. Dawn, Ken and the entire staff, from the front desk to everyone in the back was super nice and thoughtful. When I first went after surgery, I had a noticeable limp and I was not remotely close to being able to straighten my leg. Ken and Dawn were able to quickly diagnose the problem and put me on a plan to help me get to where I was before. Dawn always knew exactly where to work on my leg and really did a wonderful job! I am grateful. Even if I gave her a hard time as she worked on me. But the whole staff always seems invested in every client. My partner had seen Wayne for her hip last year and she still raves about him. Wayne would always ask me about her, which I always appreciated. I would wholeheartedly recommend Physical Therapy of Chesapeake , they would be my first stop if I have, god forbid, any more joint/mobility problems.

Experiencia fantástica: I had knee surgery and did not know what to expect as far as recovery. I'm glad I choose this Physical Therapy office over others closer to me. They are a good group of people that craft recovery programs to the needs of their patients, no matter the level they are at, being caring, understanding and patient. My PT understood my goals and needs from the beginning, giving me better guidance as therapy progressed and showing me different stretches. After going for 8 weeks of therapy I feel like a new person and ready to get back to the level of fitness I was years ago before my injury and continue to lead Marines. Over the years I have been to other physical therapy centers in Hampton Roads area. None compare to the outstanding care I received from Ken and his staff. Experiencia fantástica: Been coming here for about 2.5-3 months for shoulder pain. This place was recommended to me by my Ortho. I am super happy that this place was recommended. The staff was awesome; helpful, friendly and cheerful. Ken did my initial consultation and set up my PT plan. Each visit was the same. Smiling welcome, shoulder massage with a tool, exercise, stimulation machine with heat. Each visist was the same except an exercises or 2 were added weekly. For me I was self sufficient. After a short platue I had a breakthrough when Dawn found I had a tight trigger point which she zeroed in on that for a few visits. Long story short I did PT here for about 3 months and enjoyed every visit. I would 100% recommend anyone to come here for their experience and friendly smile.

Starting with Lisa who went way above and beyond to get me going as soon as possible...thank you. A great way to start a PT session by checking in with her! Dr. Wayne and his team of Forrest, Christine, Sarah and Josh are the best! It's apparent they they go out of their way to make your visit personal because they never forget a name. Not just mine....EVERYONES! I saw it every time I went in. It goes a long way...thanks! I dislocated my shoulder playing ice hockey and Wayne exceeded his goal of achieving >90% range of motion returned in four months. Thank you, Sir and I'm back on the golf course (no more hockey)!

Experiencia fantástica: I want to highly recommend PTC of Chesapeake. I went PHC with extreme pain in my shoulder blade region. Really, I could not sleep at night trying to find the most comfortable position (left over the top of my head). I could not reach the right side of my neck, shoulder, side ,and behind. But PTC knew exactly what I needed. Now I reach up, out, left, and right with any pain. Sleep, well, if snored it was because they help me get rid of the pain. Experiencia fantástica: I was a patient here for two separate conditions, for a total of 34 sessions. While here I was under the excellent care of Wayne's team. He, Sarah, Forrest, and Josh we're attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. I was provided with a very clear understanding of what was expected to do during each exercise, I was encouraged to ask questions, and they were more than willing to answer the same question multiple times. While I was a patient of Wayne and his team, I would occasionally work with some of the other teams here. From my experience, I would say they are all fantastic people who know what they're doing and enjoy helping people. I highly recommend coming here for physical therapy.

Experiencia fantástica: I fell on a cobblestone street and broke my shoulder socket, tore all of the cartilage loose in the joint and partially tore two of the three rotator cuffs. I was in constant pain for four months, never making it in having a whole nights sleep. With PT and the encouragement of Ken and his team, I am now almost healed and pain free. I would recommend him to anyone needing PT! Well done, Ken and team!

Experiencia fantástica: ACL surgery recovery - Ken and staff helped me fully recover from an ACL reconstruction. We progressed from balance and strengthening exercises to jumping, agility, and single leg plyometrics. Working with them for my post-surgical period (about 1 year) was such a blessing!

Having had a different and largely non-improving experience - about the same back ailment - with a more sterile and non-interactive hospital-based PT outfit, these folks folks far out-performed, and helped my body to better its future. Ken (owner) sat me down on day one, interacted individually, and set me on a more balanced approach of their hands-on mechanically-oriented help (traction, heat, massaging), and my own core improvement personal improvement profile. Cant thank them enough!! Five stars!!!

Experiencia fantástica: I tore,my rotator cuff, it was a full tear,both ligaments were torn,I chose to go to physical therapy center of Chesapeake. I'm so glad I did,they were fantastic, they understood my pain and my concerns for my ability to get back to normal use,and range of motion.. They work with me, and were the perfect amount of tough and gentle, with some of these injuries the rehab is more painful than the accident, and it can be quite hard to self motivate, which is quintessential to complete recovery, they never gave up on me, even when I thought I'd half to change my life and give up my passion for martial arts, they stayed the corse and kept me on the path and motivate me to focus on where I wanted to be and not where I was. Ken and Dawn,absolute the best there is no doubt, but there entire staff each and every person there ,is absolutely world class people, and made my experience enlightening, and wonderful, God bless each and every one at Physical Therapy Center of Chesapeake.

The facility is well equipped and clean. Their therapy program got me back to 100 percent and the home exercise plan they provided at the end of my sessions inspired me to continue being active. I highly recommend them!

The physical therapists and assistants that I encountered were professionals in their craft, but also had personalities that made the sessions better and more personable. Experiencia fantástica: Since I retired last year of December 31,2020, I feel like every part of my body starts aching may be because of less mobility of my whole body. It started with my left shoulder. There were times that I can not reach any thing above my shoulder with out stretching a lot and any help from my husband. Sleeping on my left side was hard too. My left shoulder kept me awake with pain in the middle of the night. After seeing my osteopathic and sports physician, I was referred to have PT done and was sent to PT Center in Chesapeake, VA. In PT Center, I had 4 weeks with 2x a week of treatment. Every staff was friendly and helpful during my treatment. Kudos to everyone especially to Ken Loud who was kind enough to give me his expertise in massage of my left arm concentrating on left shoulder. This helped my left shoulder to move a lot better and learn to RELAX too instead of being stiff at all times. I highly recommend this place if you need to improve any aches and pain that you have. You will graduate with no pain at least. Thank you everyone for making me feel comfortable during my treatment and my stay.

Experiencia fantástica: I originally didn't want to do physical therapy, mind you after in home therapy. After my second visit with this team of caring people, I knew this was going to be a different experience. I would definitely refer all my friends and family if they need physical therapy to this place. Everyone is friendly. I definitely have to mention how personable each person was. Especially Wayne. Yes I have to mention him by name. That's not a slight to anyone else because they were wonderful too. Yes I will be back in the future. Thank you all for making this experience enjoyable.

My therapist Dr. Wayne is the best and everyone who assist him Mr. FORREST my favorite, Christina and Sarah. When I started therapy my knee was in bad shape. I couldn't walk up and down the steps and it hurt me to step off a curve. I now can do the stairs. Therapy really works don't take it for granted. I HIGHLY recommend Physical Therapy Center of Chesapeake.

Experiencia fantástica: I have had total knee replacement in both knees. Ken and Dawn did an excellent job both times, to ensure that both knees worked as they should. P T was thorough, strenuous and worth every second I was there. I cannot recommend them enough. You cannot stop stretching and flexing your knees after you leave P.T. That's key to your success. The front desk ensured I got the appointments when I wanted. The entire staff was excellent

Experiencia fantástica: Starting with Lisa, Office Manger, my time with the Physical Therapy Center of Chesapeake was phenomenal! Dr Wayne Hammes, PT, and team Forrest, Christine, Sarah, and Josh were the best. This is my third physical therapy organization in the Chesapeake area and it is the best. I am a 64 year old who had a badly sprained ankle that wasn’t getting any better. After assessing, Dr Wayne started me on a course of action that within 9 visits over 4 weeks restored functionality and eliminated pain. I will be going back anytime I need PT to resolve my function issues.

Experiencia fantástica: This place is amazing! I had been suffering from tendonosis in my foot for several months now, and Gwen helped me get back on my feet. As the weeks went by, I felt the pain slowly drift away as I powered through the exercises. My foot is feeling so much better now, and I can start running again. I can't be anymore happier thanks to Gwen, forrest and the team. She and forrest are great PTs and are such cool people. Experiencia fantástica: The two photos are the “why” to physical therapy. About two years ago I had to give up some thing I enjoyed. Six months after my ankle rebuild, I was able to do two of them. I can go into how great the physical therapy was or how great Wayne, Christine and Forrest were. I can talk about laughing through the sessions, the jokes, and how much fun it was. It was really more than that. I was able to set a goal and work to it. The team helped me reach that goal and get back to doing things I love. I was able to complete physical therapy and leave with some tools to help me continue getting better.

They all support each other and every person who is looking forward to better recovery and less obstacles or pain. I had knee replacement surgery and did not think I needed more physical therapy. I was very wrong the in home therapy got me functional but Ken and his team got my range of motion and pain and knee use back to levels before my knee was injured. Experiencia fantástica: I was a little hesitant at first when my Doctor recommended physical therapy for my knee, but decided to give it a go. After my first session at the Physical Therapy Center of Chesapeake I immediately knew that it was a super positive decision to continue therapy for 16 sessions as recommended by my PCM. From the moment I entered the front door I felt welcomed. Initial administrative process was seamless and I did not feel bogged down with unnecessary paper work. Staff was polite and knowledgeable and answered all my questions without hesitation. After my first session I realized that my care would be targeted towards relieving pain in my knees, improving my mobility and definitely strengthening my leg muscles. Therapy staff was always attentive, knowledgeable, precise and patient with their instructions and guidance when executing the various exercise movements. Special care was given to exercise equipment and tables to ensure that they were sanitized. Special thanks to Dawn for her professionalism, patience, knowledge and targeted exercise program, I have definitely gained some muscle strength (left foot) and definitely more mobility transiting up/down steps. My experience was superb and would definitely highly recommend Physical Therapy Center Of Chesapeake for all of your Physical Therapy needs. Call them now do not hesitate.

I've used physical therapy services many times over the last 30 years and the team at Physical Therapy Center of Chesapeake is the absolute best. The administrative staff does a great job with the scheduling, filing insurance claims, and just ensuring that the paperwork is done so you can focus on your recovery. My assigned Physical Therapist, Wayne, was phenomenal and really helped me to progress quickly following a total knee replacement. I’ve had 2 different rehabs here over the past 4 years, and each time the treatment was professional, effective, and well-coordinated. Patient care here is a team effort and healing is the goal. The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed. I can look forward to my PT sessions here, knowing that I’m getting the best care possible.
