Experiencia negativa: I think I should start off by saying, thank you to the staff. You tried so very hard to do your best with limited resources and support at your disposal. However, the front desk while helpful when asked a question appeared to be less than thrilled with their job. People are not happy to have to be in rehab normally, the least you could do is try to smile and be courteous. A little back story, my husband came to Kensington Gardens because he’d been in hospital for at least 2 weeks. His body had been through a lot of trauma. He really wasn’t capable of taking care of his basic needs. Most of the time he wasn’t clear on where he was. The staff tried to help him but were chronically short staffed and short on supplies. At one point my husband soiled himself and needed to be cleaned. I was fully prepared to handle that because I know they have other patients. The problem was there was nothing available for me to clean him with. I was going up and down halls to try and find someone and supplies to take care of the situation. I found a towel here, a sheet there and was told by one staff member I needed to get supplies from my wing. The problem with that was, there was no one to ask and none available in my wing. This type of thing is UNACCEPTABLE. The place wasn’t clean, I mentioned repeating that the floors hadn’t been mopped in days. It took 3 days for that to even be done. Live cockroaches running across the floor. The interior and exterior are old, outdated or need repair. We did just experience a storm but the damage to the exterior has zero to do with the storm. This leads me to feel that the residents are just being warehoused and the barest minimum done for them. Collect money but put no money back into the facility to help it be a more pleasant place for people that are already in an unhappy place physically. The pictures on this website must be from when they first opened because they are not an accurate representation of the facility now. Another issue of concern is the front desk. You can not get in or or without someone buzzing you out at all times. They are so short staffed that it took almost 15 minutes for me to find someone inside the building to help me leave while another family member stood outside waiting to get in. I had to walk down hallways to find someone and could only find a nurse busy doing her job passing out meds. She had to stop doing her job to try and help me and the people outside. On my way back to the front door, I ran into a staff person and asked for help. I was informed that I needed to get someone from my husbands area of the building to help with that. So, it’s on Me, to do someone else’s job??? We also ran into a little lady lying on the bench out front with her walker. When asked if we could go anything out what she needed she said she was waiting for a bed. So imagine, this poor little woman, small enough to be able to curl up on that little bench, lying there in the dark, waiting for a bed. To me, that’s the worst kind of deplorable. This is not how our elderly people should be treated. They deserves better. Do better Kensington Gardens. I can’t bring my self to give even 1 star, so obviously I would not recommend this business to my worst enemy let alone someone I love.

Experiencia negativa: This place is filthy, roaches crawling across the floors in daylight hours and ants in a patient bed next to my father! That poor man had a stroke and had no one there helping or advocating for him. My dad was moved here from the hospital because it was all that was available. We got him out of there as fast as we could (still took 5 days). Whatever you do, plan on moving your loved one out of here as quickly as you can. Shame on the state of Florida and the owners for allowing the elderly to be cared for in such a horrible, nasty, inhumane place. The poor staff try to do their best with what they have but they are clearly understaffed and not equipped. This place should be condemned until they get it cleaned up and the patients cared for with more dignity. I have no idea how it even received any ratings over a 1, let alone a 1.

Experiencia negativa: In my opinion. They are totally incompetent. I have tried to get my mom out of there the 2nd day she was there. I believe they will stall as long as they can so they can bill for her stay. PLEASE if you can avoid this place.. PLEASE DO !! Watch for the generic and insincere reply from them. SAD!!

Experiencia negativa: If I could give it a zero I would it’s smells very bad lots of pest cockroach droppings in the draws most of the staff look under 20 not strong enough to take care of older people they hardly check up on patients I wouldn’t put any of my loved ones in this place please run far away.

Experiencia negativa: Uioma Ashimole is a very aggressive and unprofessional nurse on the shift as I went to visit a family member/ Auntie at this facility she was very rude and very unprofessional she tried to snatch my phone because I asked her for her name to report her behavior I am very scared and not sure how the night is going to be with my family member with her in the facility not only was she nasty and rude with my family member she also was doing it to my auntie's roommate #103 never seen anything like this at a nursing center

Experiencia negativa: My cousin is in this facility, and I'm having a terrible time getting through to him. I'm worried something is wrong. I called the main number 6 times, and either they don't answer or transfer me to "his room" and nobody answers and neither does the Nurse's Station. I'm concerned - I live about 1000 miles north and can't just drive on over.

Experiencia negativa: Nobody knows anything. Keep you waiting forever. There's a patient big man white hair. Keeps interfering asking for money and to move on. I will call someone for help. Since nurses or administration doesn't help. They don't. My sister needs to stay away from him. Why do you keep moving her so many times. Different rooms.

Experiencia negativa: I don't know where to begin. This place is horrible. I've been taking my 89 year old friend to visit her 95 year old sister for a year now. I'm disgusted with the filthy condition of this place. The residents here are at a severe disadvantage living in filth. The bathroom s are not only dirty, never cleaned, but in utter disrepair. hole in floor, toilet does not flush. holes in walls. The resident beds do not work, nor do employees care. How an elderly resident exists with a lack of care is beyond me. Employees, quite frankly, are rude, negligent, and mean. Very sad.

Experiencia negativa: My dad was transferred here short term to get his strength back after having a craniotomy, he went a whole day without any of his medications and no PT(whole reason he was there). Place smells bad, floors are disgusting and I seen multiple palmetto bugs and cockroaches. Me and my husband got him discharged and released into our care. And to top it all off we were sent home thinking because we got the doctors approval for discharge they were going to send his prescriptions to the pharmacy, got home and found out they in fact did not, but they provided a med list.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give zero stars I would. Anybody that writes a positive review for this facility is also the problem. I personally do not have a family member / loved one that lives at this facility, but I work at a dental office that has had to deal with a resident being scheduled with us. They make it impossible to get in touch with someone. When someone does answer at the front desk, they want to connect you to someone else... Which never takes you to another person. They phone just hangs up after 2 rings. The care works don't seem to care about the patients. The staff is short with you on everything. It took over 1 month to get the patient to have a care ride scheduled to come to our dental office (the patient sat in pain for over a month to have treatment with us due to this facility dropping the ball multiple times). The patients sister lives out of state and says she too, can never get in touch with anyone that cares. The patient arrived to our office for his treatment. He was supposed to have a caretaker with him to assist getting him out of his wheelchair & any needs that he had. Nobody came with him. The driver walked in and I asked where his caretaker was. He said idk, they are liars & I have other people to pick up, and he left. I personally had to help assist the patient out of his wheelchair & into our dental chair. He was filthy. Doesn't seem like they bathe him or wash his clothes. He had a colotomy bag that was extremely full & smelled awful. He was terribly skinny, his pants were falling off and had nobody to help him. I am absolutely disgusted by this facility & every person I have spoke to on the phone. Nobody seems to care about anything. Everyone should be ashamed to work at this place & anybody that lets someone stay here should also be ashamed. You are in charge of taking care of another persons loved one and you are failing!!!! People are paying thousands and thousands of dollars to stay here and I'm wondering what the money is going to?! Horrible!

Experiencia negativa: Do not leave your loved one in this place, they are rude to begin with, no customer service at all. All workers are careless to even help with anything. The place smells horrible and looks like everyone is unhappy to even work. I do not recommend this place. One of my three experiences is that I am standing in front of a worker as she is on the computer scrolling I simply ask her where I can dispose of my mothers trash and she tells me to wait in a rude tone and with attitude. I then tell her I am taking her belongings and she tells me I need to call the social worker. My mother isn’t even in the facility anymore because I made sure she was taken from the hospital some where else. Very unhappy and rude people in this environment. This is why they have 3 stars!

Experiencia negativa: Warning: Never send your loved ones here!!!!!! I work as a Senior advisor and own a successful business that protects and serves seniors in Florida. Our team walked into this facility tonight and heard a male nurse screaming and cussing towards a patient. We walked into the room to visit with our client and found him laying on the bathroom floor and scared. He was begging us not to leave him. He was terrified of his nurse and was hoping we could remain next to him throughout the night. We are obviously filing all necessary reports and will not settle for this mistreatment. BTW, he pays $12,000 a month and has two roommates. Stay away!!!!!

Experiencia positiva: I have concerns on what your policies are Regarding patients roamingThe hallways and stealing from invalid and incapacitated patients rooms and it is known about by the staff and why are they not being arrested and banned from the facilityI have tried to reach management and they never answer and their voice mailbox is full and I also asked to speak to security and I was never transferred there either I have great concerns about this in the past recently there was a female Patient that threw a severely disabled patient out of their wheelchair and broke their neck a few months later another female patient is roaming older disabled patients rooms and stealing Their phones And otherThingsWhat is being done about thisWhy are they not being arrested and banned from the facilityPlease respond to this management or owner and please do something about it this is very scary where's securityFYI changing the disabled innocent patients room repeatedly is not an answer to the to the problemDealing with the criminal is

Experiencia negativa: Shame on these owners! My mother was walking a week ago and now suddenly she can’t speak OR walk? Live massive cockroaches and deplorable conditions! They drugged her nearly to death!Looking for dementia care as we speak!
Experiencia negativa: Don't believe the good reviews they are false and don't believe anything their website says its false and the photos on the website are false also. The bad reviews are unfortunately true. You always smell urine when you walk in. Go in person and check the place before you place a family member here and you will see just how false their website is. Stay away this place is awful!
Experiencia negativa: I was in Kensington gardens for about 2 and 1/2 months. In my opinion, the worst rehab facility I have ever been into and ever seen in my life at 67. Nursing staff was always shorthanded nursing I to the staff that comment was true go 5 days or more with no pillowcase. No towels. No nothing cuz they're comment was assistant always shorthanded. They always have between 15 and 20 beds. Sometimes more to take care of. I had dry blood on my dividing curtains. I had dry blood on my handrails on my bed. I went four days without pain medication and sleeping medication because it do not have a pharmacy inside the home they used to pharmacy outside the facility and they only delivered twice a day. I had five roommates out of the five roommates that I was there for what was discharged The other roommates. Their family members pulled them out of their due to lack of service. Several times I was on schedule pain meds and I got double dosed. My normal time at night was around 8:00. They might come in 8:30 9:30. Give me a dose of my pain meds and then this. The night shift would come in and wind up giving me between 11:30 and 12:00. Another dose of meds and I was scheduled for every I believe 4 hours. Couple times I told him I just got them. They were looking at computer and say well. That's not true because of the fact that The drawer of the cart was already open and my mess were dispensed around 8:30. They also did the same thing to my room. One roommate absolutely piss. Poor food. Absolutely terrible. I had around an $857 DoorDash tab of ordering food out most of the time because of food was so bad. One weekend the entire North floor wound up with diarrhea and the nurses were complaining about it. I ate the food twice and it did nothing but give me diarrhea so that's what I started ordering out. Please do your due diligence before you put your loved one in that facility. It's terrible

Experiencia negativa: My husband James Wilson is there and has a blood clot in leg. They never told him but just started treating him. He started leaking fluids and no one knew where is was coming from. Now he has a bacterial infection that they give him a shot for but then had a severe reaction from the shot. He seem to firing daddy by day. Roaches in the room and he had to cry out for help to get some relief from itching caused by the shot.

Most of the staff that actually do the work are awesome...when they aren't dealing with over 20 patients at a time. 2 nights ago they said there were only 4 caretakers for the entire building-150 patient capacity. So residents sit in soiled diapers, no one to help in and out of wheelchairs, over two weeks without a bath/shower. Bought my own wipes so I could clean my hands before eating. I'm due for my Covid booster and I've been asking for it over a month. Keep getting automated phone calls with notification that there are new cases of Covid in the wing and we can't get vaccinated? I came in because I needed to complete an iv antibiotic because I have an infection that is resistant to oral antibiotics and I had to be quarantined. Should have been a week. Over 6 weeks now...the first nurse falsified records and failed to give me the antibiotics. I found out I had a second infection when I woke up to a new quarantine note on my door. NEVER told me what it was for. Covid? I dunno. I had a new test Friday night that was positive and it's Thursday-still no meds. And finally, the "Fine Dining" advertised in the brochure. Along with pics from previous reviewers-this place is falling apart. And staff quitting mid shift because of mistreatment by a particular patient-they've been bitten, kicked, punched, etc. and zero support from administrative staff. Another patient went off on a racist rant when the nursing assistant caught her walking( she was apparently paralyzed...a miracle). Never heard such vulgar and disgusting language in real life. There's the gentleman that wanders the halls day and night, and has come into my room when I'm trying to sleep. Can't lock the doors. Requested talks with someone to try to fix things. Ain't going to happen.

The last two days I kept asking the staff for her toilet to be cleaned, and the dead bugs to be cleaned out of her night stand. They would say okay and then not clean it. Experiencia fantástica: I still work at Kensington in the Business Office!! Soon to celebrate 14 years at this facility!! I love my job and I enjoy coming to work each day. We work as a team & I enjoy my work family. We are employed to help our residents, for some this is their home. I am grateful and our team strives to do the right thing each day for our residents!! I still believe what I posted a few years ago!! PREVIOUSLY POSTED: I have worked at this facility for 10 years. I have learned so much from our residents. This is their home and I am very proud to work for them. Our staff works as a team for the residents, and we work hard to do the right thing everyday. There are a lot of very "pretty" facilities in Pinellas County but you can not judge a book by it cover. Prior to Covid, I toured many families through our facility looking for rehab for their loved one, their general take back was... the staff is so friendly, everybody greets everybody, there are no odors, the facility is clean and the residents look very well cared for. It may not be the prettiest facility but we pick your facility because of what we see inside. The staff is very friendly and kind and the residents & the facility is clean. I am proud to be a part of the Kensington Gardens Rehab team!

Experiencia positiva: My mom is a resident and has been well take care of by the staff, they are friendly,helpful and caring. The administration keeps families up to date with current situations affecting the facility and are always making improvements. Her room is clean and always has fresh linens. The food is good and there are daily activites. There is a large outdoor area for residents to get fresh air.
It warms our hearts to receive such a positive review of our nursing facility. We work hard to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for our residents, and your words of appreciation make it all worth it.

Experiencia negativa: I went to this facilty twice & this past Wednesday October 20th, 2021 I was there visiting my friends mom and her roommate was sitting in feces. I was disgusted & went to nurses station where they were talking and standing around doing nothing. I asked them to come to clean up this patient, they took about 10 minutes to send some man to clean this woman up, I was disappointed both times coming here, where I've had to pray for everyone in this Rehab. There at a place where the people don't care and allow patients to press button & they never come or answer. Today I found out someone just died there today is Saturday October 23rd, 2021. I prayed & I must have this facilty monitored. I am reporting everything I have seen since going to this facilty. I'm not pleased they have these type of non caring folk working here. People are only there for a paycheck. This is why the ppl are not getting better & dying.
Experiencia negativa: If I can give this facility less than one stars I WOULD. If you care for your relative, make sure you stay very far away from this place. Trying to get ahold of social services for months, and still no response. Trying to get ahold of a nurse or doctor regarding my family members health condition, have had no luck for months. We have a serious medical condition that needs to be looked into, and they refuse the care we are requesting such as sending him to a hospital to get checked out. Communication lacks completely, and the employees are absolutely terrible with how they treat their patients, and members of the family.

Experiencia negativa: They are constantly running out of medications that my sister needs. This is only 1 complaint! I have notes on All the things I've witnessed here! It's not so much as the CNA's, but the RN, the Front desk, the management. This place has so much potential; if we could only get Worker's that really cared about the patients.

Experiencia negativa: I wish I could give this place zero stars. I’m amazed this place is still open. 1. The rooms are atrocious. The staff CNAs work their tails off but the air conditioners have mold and air leaking, they have absolutely no supplies. There are infections on every open wound in that facility. If you have a family member here, you should be ashamed of yourself. This facility is absolutely awful and I wouldn’t leave my abusive ex husband here. I wouldn’t leave a dog there. I wouldn’t leave a homeless person there. 2. The agency nurses are 50/50. 50% are actually good and know what they are doing and 50% are absolutely trash and have no idea what they are doing. 3. There is no management staff at all. There is no one to be held accountable. They approve 15+ agency staff to work then call off 10+ of them the next day, then refuse to sign off or admit they are refusing to let the agency staff work. They have contract employees that all point fingers and say, “go ask them”, or “I’m not in charge” and where I was trained, you never say I DONT KNOW, you FIND AN ANSWER. I hate this facility. As a nurse that has rotated this facility is the lowest of the low and should be shut down immediately. The staff CNAs are wonderful, but everything else is literally exudate covered garbage.

Experiencia negativa: My husband was here, although Pt is wonderful and some of the staff are quite nice, I found most nurses wouldn't even look at you when asking questions. My husband's bathroom was semi clean, but no one ever cleaned behind the toilet. I am currently waiting for the Social Worker to contact me after 4 messages.

Experiencia fantástica: This is an update with n Kensington Gardens Nursing Home Today is 23rd February’24 My wife has been it here for three or four years now… I visit and bring fruit and chocolates flowers etc. The below review is the same… I can’t believe the staff and management could do any better…. My wife fell and hurt herself… she did something she knew was not okay… Anyway the nurses and staff were all over it caring for her making sure she was okay. Even sent her to hospital too have all the tests scans … You can’t believe how much I appreciate that. Thank you All so much Christopher Silcock Kensington Garden and their wonderful staff They get a ten (10) out of ten from me Polite and service oriented receptionists ... so friendly The admin staff Bonnie Jazmine and the others in the office help me so much... even when I throw stupid questions at them.. Nurses work very hard. They're always friendly and helpful to me... the care they give Penny impresses me on every visit... I admire them!!' My wife Penny has had the very best care there... Experiencia fantástica: I just can't say enough good words about the staff at Kensington. They have been accommodating in meeting every need my father has had since coming to the facility for rehab, which was due to breaking his hip hip while in the hospital for other issues. The staff have made my dad smile and feel he is a part of the family for the time he has been there so far. His happiness means everything to us while going through this difficult time. Special call out to Kayla, Kathy, Julie and Eric for going above and beyond for my dad.

Experiencia positiva: I've only been once so it's hard to rate a 5. But my experience today with Jonathan and the staff was wonderful. I'm looking forward to more time with my mother in law who is on long term care there once Covid restrictions are lifted. Jonathan did everything in his power today to make sure we got a window visit since she is bedridden. I cannot be any happier to have been able to at least see her face. Looking forward to a face to face so my 4 can go to a 5.

The care he got at Kensington Garden was excellent. Every one there cared about their patients. Thank you for the good care you gave my husband James

Experiencia fantástica: I make monthly shopping trips for my family member. And, each time, when returning to the facility, I have too much to carry. So, someone always meets me at the front door, loads up the bags onto a cart and takes them to my brother's room. This is a big help for me and my brother is always grateful to get his new supplies. Recently, I have needed paperwork and information from the front office. The telephone operator/receptionist has always been very pleasant and helpful. And, I have also been very satisfied with the help and information provided by the Social Worker and his assistant. Our overall experience with Kensington Gardens has been quite satisfactory.

Experiencia negativa: My father was just recently transferred to Kinsington Rehab. Today 10/4/2021 I called to speak with my father and 25 minutes has already passed. Currently I'm still on hold waiting to speak with my father. I will continue to hold until someone hangs up or remember that I'm still holding the line as we speak. Unnecessary foolishness!!!

Experiencia negativa: I don't know if this place has crumbled in the face of COVID, but most of the staff has walked out or is looking for other jobs. Residents are left in their soiled diapers for hours on end, double digit new cases of COVID daily, residents giving staff (whom are illegally accepting) money in hopes for better care, the list goes on and on. If you have a loved one here, please move them. If you're currently looking for care, look elsewhere.

Experiencia negativa: This place is the most disgusting facility I’ve ever been in I was there for four hours and I saw at least five cockroaches the receptionist upfront is so rude the staff is horrible it’s just nasty I would never ever put a loved one in this facility it is bad!!. They do not change the sheets on the beds it’s just so nasty I can’t even describe I have no words for this place God bless to all the love ones that are there my heart goes out to them. PS: this facility needs to be shut down
Experiencia negativa: UPDATE 10/2021 Run run run Do Not Leave A Dementia or Alzheimer’s patient here. (My uncle was placed here around May healthy, walking, talking, he only had early signs of dementia. He left here Late august early September, unable to eat, walk, talk.) Well I received 3 messages in August while he resided there, all pertaining to someone having Covid therein and so we couldn’t visit any more. Eventually we got a call that he had Covid. They allowed a video call after we fussed enough. The man couldn’t talk or walk or eat. That was not Covid related. You can not convince me it was. His liver and kidney function were shutting down. After asking about their in house litigation team, they transferred him to Morton plant. There he started to eat and talk again but never walked again. He died Sept 12, 2021. I regret putting him in this particular facility because they Do Not Know How To Care For Dementia or Alzheimer’s patients. When my uncle could speak again the first thing he said was Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: Extremely Disappointed My mom was in this rehab for two weeks and we were really disappointed in the care, more appropriately-the lack of there of. She’s almost 87, in there with two broken legs. She would press her call button to get help to the bathroom only to wait 30 minutes or more. She ended up with a UTI from trying to hold it for so long. She was left on a bedpan multiple times for more than 30 minutes. In two weeks her feet were never washed and she couldn’t reach them due to the brace on her leg. Family couldn’t come in because of Covid or we would have helped her. Better protocols need to be put in place and if staffing is an issue then Citadel needs to figure out why they cannot keep staff. I’m would not recommend to anyone unless it is your only choice.

Experiencia negativa: My father has been there for a month and it that time I have not been allowed to see him. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone via telephone. I will be getting my dad home as soon as possible. DO NOT SEN YOUR LOVED ONE THERE!!! It is a poor excuse for a rehab/nursing facility and Gould shut own. My family will be contacting CMS to file a formal complaint.

Experiencia negativa: My 98 year old grandmother went to Kensington for rehab after leaving the hospital due to fractured ribs. It is my opinion this is not a good facility. There was nothing consistent with her care. We went to see her every day and most days she did not have on her own clothes. We informed her nurse and physical therapist she needed her legs elevated in her wheelchair, this was not consistent. Also that she needed a pillow and this also was not consistent. We continuously voiced our concerns but nothing was resolved. We ended up calling 911 as she was having chest pains and had her transported to the hospital where she was then transported to a another facility. When I went to get her belongings one pair of her pajamas reeked of urine and they brought out two boxes of items that were not even hers. We were constantly being told by administration that this was not acceptable yet nothing was resolved. I had to click a star in order to post but would not give them any stars as a rating.

Experiencia fantástica: My sister lives at Kensington Gardens. She has had a rough life her entire life and is very ill, physically as well as mentally. Because of COVID we have not been able to visit since April 2019. I and my other sister are RNs and we thought when we saw her back in 19 that she had trouble recognizing us. We were able to travel down from Indiana this year and visit. She was in a very bad mental state, confused and angry. The entire staff was nice and helpful. The physician was very compassionate and almost apologized for her behavior. He was great! There was a staff member whose name was Julie who my sister responded to;she was a saint.
