The knee is the joint made up of the lower end of the femur (thighbone), the upper end of the tibia (shinbone) and the patella (kneecap). Articular cartilage which is a layer of soft, smooth tissue covers the end of the femur and tibia, and lines the underside of the patella, allowing the joint to slide easily. Meniscus, a wedge-shaped piece of cartilage, provides a cushion to absorb stress on the joint. Ligaments connect the bones of the knee together. There are two collateral ligaments on either side of your knee and two cruciate ligaments which cross each other inside your knee joint – the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in front and the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) in the back. The knee is one of the largest and most complex joints in the body. Common complaints and procedures include Total Knee Replacement (Arthroplasty), arthroscopy, injections, fracture repair, dislocation, osteoarthritis, ACL reconstruction, patellofemoral instability, chondromalacia patellae (CMP), muscle/tendon/ligament injuries, meniscus tear/repair, patellar tendinitis and other sprains/tears of soft tissues.

The hand and wrist are made up of multiple small joints that work together with surrounding muscles and tendons to produce motion – including fine/delicate motion and gripping. There are 27 bones, 29 joints and at least 123 named ligaments in the human hand. The Carpals (wrist), Metacarpals (hand) and Phalanges (fingers) make up the bones of the hand and wrist. Ligaments connect the bones and help stabilize the joints. Muscles tighten and relax to provide movement; tendons connect muscles to bones; tendon sheaths surround and protect the tendons. Our hands require both sensation and movement of joints, tendons and muscles to function. Due to the complexity of the hand and wrist there are many hand and wrist issues. They include fractures, ligament tear/strain, De Quervain’s Tendinosis, Dupuytren’s Disease, TFCC Tear, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), trigger finger, intersection syndrome, basal joint arthritis, flexor and extensor tendon injuries, ganglion or mucous cysts.

The spine is a strong and flexible structure that provides the stability to stand up straight, bend or twist. It supports your head, shoulders and upper body and protects your spinal cord. It involves three segments with natural curves; the cervical spine (neck), thoracic spine (chest) and the lumbar spine (lower back). The spine is made up of 24 connected vertebrae (7 cervical, 12 thoracic and 5 lumbar), each with a flat and round disk about half an inch thick acting as a cushion between them. Each vertebra has a segment on either side called the transverse process. The part of the vertebra closest to the skin is called the spinous process. Your spinal cord runs along a tunnel called the spinal canal, within the vertebrae. Nerves branch out of the spinal canal through openings in the vertebrae.

The mission of McBride Orthopedic Hospital is to serve the communities of Oklahoma by providing access to excellence in orthopedic care, in an environment designed to efficiently and effectively deliver consistently superior patient outcomes.

McBride Clinic - Lawton: Opiniones

Experiencia positiva: Friendly service. DR Margo was attentive to what I was saying. Made a decision on what corse of action to take. They were to call in a prescription but when we went to pick it up it had not been called in. Tried to call office but all you get is a answering machine. After leaving a message no call back. We live in a rural area and had to come back home with no prescription and the thought that we may have to go back in town just to pick it up. Very inconvenient.

Experiencia fantástica: I love this clinic, Diane Johnson Nurse Practitioner explained everything in detail before my surgery. Dr.Woodson did the same when I went to OKC for him to repair my torn meniscus. Great office personnel also

Experiencia positiva: Torn L/ACL back in 07’ & was made aware it would need replaced eventually. We’ll eventually showed up last year. My primary care sent me to Dr Johnson & I was very impressed. She was not only very knowledgeable but easy to understand, knowing we didn’t all go to med school and explained in terms I understood. She was going to show me my MRI but their cpu had a glitch & we decided to discuss it prior surgery. About 6 weeks out or so. I called every 4-5 days to see when I was to return or schedule my procedure. Every time I called they (the Dr’s) were all in Norman. After 3-4 months I again called but this time I called my insurance company only to find out they never called to get approval to schedule surgery in the first place! So I don’t doubt Dr Johnson would have done a great job but finding out was another issue entirely. I guess Alice or whomever was tasked with the job of taking care of patient scheduling DID NOT BOTHER to do so. So if you do see Dr Johnson ask her to schedule your surgery or it’ll never get done.
