Experiencia negativa: Horrible place. Under staffed an under trained. Kicked a Clint an 6 year old out on Easter Sunday from out of state. Tried putting them on the street in the rain. There a police report to verify. The Sherriff had to stop them an tell them they can’t do that.

Experiencia fantástica: I can't thank New Directions for Women enough for the care they provided my sister during her battle with heroin addiction. From the first phone call we made, they met us with kindness and compassion, at a time when we had quite honestly lost all hope. Their focus on family involvement was pivotal, offering us support and guidance to heal together. The community atmosphere helped my sister to confront her challenges and embrace lasting change. She still has contact with some of the women she went through the program with! Today, my sister is thriving in her sobriety, thanks to the foundation laid by New Directions for Women. I highly recommend their services to anyone in need of support on their journey to recovery.

Experiencia negativa: My daughter came to the facility in Costa Mesa and left a few items of high value that included make up and hygiene items that were "supposedly" discarded. I went with my wife to pick up her belongings on Monday 9/11/2023 and we were told that her items had been transferred to the other location that I would need to go during normal business hours to retrieve. My daughter went to try to get her stuff today 9/13 and she was given a bag of items that did not belong to her which was taken back. Then she was told that her items were discarded which I believe is a lie and feel that someone in the facility might have stolen them. She is devastated losing all of her belongings and this is terrible for your staff to do to someone that is going through hard times like this. Staff is a bunch of thieves! If you leave facility take your stuff if not staff will steal it.

I would not hesitate to recommend New Directions to any woman or mother who needs help with addiction. They do excellent work and are incredibly supportive.

He and Lexi walked me and my family through the whole process. Them together were the dream team. They made me and my family feel such a sense of ease while making such a scary decision. David came to see me immediately after my intake. He got right to work to ensure that my FMLA and disability was taken care of. He consistently told me that he will take care of everything and for me just to focus on my recovery. David was a godsend for me and I will forever be grateful. I recently left New Directions a changed woman and David continues to check up on me. If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired…. Take my advice and surrender and give New Directions a call. I promise you won’t regret it. With people like David and Lexi You’re in good hands.

Experiencia negativa: I have been to detox several times and have never had such an unpleasant experience. The first thing I noticed was how filthy dirty the detox house was upon arrival and it didn't appear that it was cleaned the entire 7 days I was there. There were flies all over the kitchen and my shoes would stick to the floor. I had to practically chase down a staff member every time I was due for meds as they were not on top of which made me even more anxious than I already was. Some of the staff was helpful, but others should not be in this line of work. No compassion or patience for the patients

Katy Alexander as well as Danielle Fernandez have always taken care of the admissions process with warmth and understanding. From the first call to the first step through the door this team wraps around each client. I can’t say enough good things. Experiencia fantástica: New Directions for Women saved mine & my sons life. I entered into their program 12 weeks pregnant and addicted to opiates. It was the lowest point in my life. My family was no longer enabling me and my husband was in jail fighting his own battle with addiction. Addiction does not discriminate. I learned that at NDFW. My addiction may of landed me in the streets but I came from a good family, a college graduate and athlete. I met many women that came from all walks of life but we all had one thing in common...we suffered from a horrible disease. A disease that wants us dead, but is also a family disease that effects everyone we touch. The staff was very generous, patient but also gave me a good dose of reality and tough love. I decided at NDFW to keep my baby and he is my greatest blessing. I got involved in individual therapy, group therapy, wellbriety, family therapy, case planning, exercise, AA/NA meetings and workshops. New Directions saw something in me when I didn’t. They helped me learn to love myself again and fight for my life. I’m truely grateful for this program. 3 things I love that are different from a lot of treatment centers...and I’ve been to ALOT: -ALL women facility -they take women and children and pregnant women -Long term treatment & step down system (residential, Partial day, IOP, sober living)

Experiencia fantástica: I've been an employee at New Directions for Women since early 2019 and have nothing but praises to give! The fact that we open our door to WOMEN, including women and their children to join mom on campus as they are getting well is incredibly special. I get to witness daily transformations in these ladies from a not just a physical and emotional perspective, but a complete psychic and spiritual change. Our property exudes serenity, peace and calm. The food/nutrition is second to none, therapists, clinical staff and exciting and growth minded activities (including yoga, gym-time, pilates, beach walks, local hikes in the hills, stand up paddle and kayaking adventures, ropes/challenge course and art/music therapy allows the patients to tap into their endorphins and creative sides. I am highly impressed with our staff, care and program and would recommending healing at NDFW to anyone!!

At every turn I saw beautiful artwork with inspirational quotes and butterflies. My favorite feature was the fish tank full of every type you could imagine. You could tell that each and every women who walks through their doors are well cared for and have a safe place to heal and recover!

Experiencia fantástica: I was invited as an Substance Abuse Interventionist & Counselor to view the facilities at NDFW. I have been invited to do the same at many other facilities. NDFW's presentation was so well organized. It was educational and experiential. We were introduced to many of the staff from the CEO on down and without a doubt they all shared the same characteristics of love, caring, compassion and hope in helping their clients. They support a very challenging population of pregnant women in any trimester and women with or without children with a variety of services and therapeutic protocols. I felt a sense of controlled freedom there. We met former clients who shared their stories with us and now are helping other women heal at NDFW. If you are a woman who is struggling with addiction, or you know someone who is, please call them, it will be the best decision you ever made.

Experiencia fantástica: New directions is amazing I cannot believe how many women they treat and I heard today after being in a breakfast that they sponsor that they've had over 200 babies born and the history of new directions to sober mothers. The staff at New Directions is amazing the surroundings are very peaceful and I can tell you that the commitment to helping women women with children and pregnant women is beyond measure. They have a detox program and a residential treatment program and I also toward another facility off campus is what they call it where they have an outpatient program where people come during the day all day or just sometimes in the evening called IOP. I know that they accept volunteers and that there non-profit so if you need help for a woman in your life I wouldn't hesitate to call them I would send my family member here and if you just want to volunteer I think it's a great place to volunteer.

All of the staff I interacted with seemed to sincerely care about their work. Communication with the Director of Development and Public Relations were easy and responsive. Having been a patient at my fair share of facilities, I can confidently say that their attention to detail in every aspect of the recovery process is truly remarkable. It's not only the sanctuary they've created that allows women to embark on their journey to sobriety in a safe, welcoming, and encouraging way, but their immense care, down to the soft sounds of water you hear as you walk through the halls, that create an environment that promises success and confidence to those within it. I would highly recommend New Directions For Women to anyone facing a battle with addiction.

Experiencia fantástica: Full disclosure - I'm a board member of this recovery facility. So, that makes me biased, right? Perhaps. But please read on. I'm writing this for people who have no idea how to sort out the good treatment facilities from the bad ones. Here are some questions to ask (New Directions for Women can answer "Yes" to all of them): 1. Is it non-profit? 2. Is it accredited by either CARF or JCAHO? Both are equally good and nationally recognized. 3. Are clinical staff all licensed and certified? 4. Is transitionary care offered? (Intensive Outpatient; Sober Living etc) 5. Does the facility offer trauma therapy? 6. Has it been around for at least 20 years? (Avoid new entrants – many are places funded by big money who are focused on profit. NDFW has been around for 40 years) 7. Is someone at the actual facility answering the phone? (Many third party call centers “sell" patients to for-profit facilities - literally to the highest bidder. I wish I were making this up.) 8. Is it gender specific? (For women, especially, this can be very important.) 9. Can women bring their young children with them for the entire time they're in treatment? (Many women refuse to get care unless they can be with their young children.) Anyway - just a bit of a checklist for anyone trying to figure out how to find a good recovery place. Final bit of full disclosure - I've sent women I know who were struggling with addiction to New Directions. So, I put my money where my mouth is.

Experiencia fantástica: My son and I lived at New Directions for 90 days in 2015. Not only did New Directions save my life, but provided a safe place for my son to heal. My son always felt safe and loved there which was so instrumental in his healing process. He learned to trust and feel secure. He was along side me every step of the way and got to watch his mommy heal. Having my son involved in my treatment opened the door to include him in my recovery rather than to have it be a part of me I may otherwise have felt I needed to hide. I thank the universe every day for the miracle that I was given a second chance at life and every day when I look at my beautiful boy's smiling face I am overwhelmed with gratitude that there is a treatment center that understands that healing mothers need to include their children in the process.

Tania and Emili are passionate about creating an uplifting community that thrives on all areas of healing. It feels like home. Women share rooms that smell of aromatherapy and there is inspirational art work throughout the halls. Another special quality about this organization is that it is open to mothers with children. New Directions offers more than recovery, they offer a sister hood.

In addition, New Directions is in the middle of one of the strongest recovery communities in the country: Orange County California, where there are over 3,000 12-step meetings a week! They are located in a serene environment that supports healing and growth. And they have a beautiful new home for the women that has been made possible by an extremely supportive fellowship who believe in their mission. New Directions can help you every step of the way as you navigate early recovery. It is a scary process to try and change your life, but it is possible, and New Directions has guided so many women and their families through it with love and compassion. New Directions for Women is transforming lives and transforming the treatment industry with quality care and dedicated staff. This place is sacred for me, and I am forever grateful to be a part of it.
