Experiencia fantástica: From start to finish Rio was the top tier Rehabilitation Center. Everybody there was very professional and at the top of their game. I entered nearly paralyzed and at the end of my stay they had me walking fully on my own. This facility gets five stars and my highest recommendation to others that are in need of a group of dedicated and caring professionals.

Were told they would take care of nor did they take care my wife's needed suplies at dis charge like they said they would ,nursing care was sometimes good sometimes not so good

Experiencia fantástica: My father in law was admitted after a fall and broken kneecap. Everyone was so nice and helpful. 2 weeks later he’s heading home.

Experiencia positiva: Came in to visit wife at 8am and found that she had urinated in her adult diaper and it was wet along with most of her bedsheets. I said something to people working here and they said it’s breakfast time so evidently they had no intention of cleaning her up until after breakfast. Well breakfast came and past and still no one came to clean her up. It wasn’t until the occupational therapist came in that I mentioned she needed cleaned up again and she was upset that nobody cleaned up from my previous request. This lack of attention was very unacceptable and hopefully it will not be repeated.
Experiencia fantástica: My mom fell and broke her femur bone. We came here after her surgery. The experience here has been wonderful. The staff has been very helpful and pleasant to everyone. We even came here on a Friday night late , it being the weekend I was worried but, that turned out to not be an issue they have been great the whole time. It's clean the doctor's are very patient with everyone. The staff has been wonderful. Thank you

Experiencia fantástica: After surgery I recommend this place for your post recovery, the therapist team and nurses are on point for getting you back on your feet and out the door to your the next step of recovery. The meals are specially prepared by you and the meal specialist to make sure what you can eat and not eat. I stayed 5 days and I was ready to go home to start my home recovery praise God. Very professional and understanding and will get back on your feet. I rang the bell and I was out the door and on to the next step of recovery Special shout to the CEO and STAFF. Thank you for all what you done for me, I got nothing but love for you.

Experiencia fantástica: My mother recently had a terrible resulted in her having a broken hip & a brain injury. The doctors and nurses are pleasant and personable as they comfort the patient as well as the l ĺ family. She's home now. Now, their coming to give her physical therapy AND teach us how to do it where not their. I recommend that ANYONE who need rehabilation go to Rehabilataion Institute Of Ohio or RIO for short .

Experiencia fantástica: This is the second long term stay at the RIO on 4 years. I chose the RIO for rehab 'cause of their delivered three hours of PT&OT daily! The care of the patient is top-notch. Staff make an effort to get to know their clients on a more personal as well as clinical level.

Experiencia fantástica: My sister came here after her leg amputation. All her nurses, doctors and therapists were awesome. Very atentive to her needs. She came a long way for the short time she was there. The facility is very clean and the food here is awesome. I can't say enough, great people, great facility. Experiencia positiva: My mom has been here 3 hours. So far I'm not impressed. Day 3-Rehabilitation people seem pretty good. Overnight staff not so much. Day 11-My mom is doing very well. She has benefited greatly from the physical therapy and will go home soon. The rude, insensitive behavior that caused my initial review seems to have been addressed. My advice if you have a loved one sent here-if you experience rude, unprofessional behavior, complain. Make calls to your case worker, call and email executive staff who's contact information is available on the website. Final edit. My mom is home now. She is doing well. She did benefit greatly from the rehab program. My initial, one star review was posted whithin 4 hours of her admittance to RIO. That stemmed from an encounter with a worker who was rude, unprofessional and obviously dissatisfied with her career choices. After making complaints via email to upper management, phone calls to the case manager, this was taken care of within 24 hours. Afterward, the care and program was very good. If you or a loved one find yourself here, and not happy with the way you/they are being treated, complaints seem to be handled quickly, so don't just accept it. Complain.
Experiencia fantástica: I feel compelled to let other people know what a wonderful facility RIO is. If you don't want to read a long review, just hear this: if you or anyone you care about ever needs to go to a rehab place and are able to come here, DO. I assure you you'll be very glad you did. RIO is nothing like a nursing home type rehab, it is a hospital, so imuch higher level of care, but EVERYTHING IS REHAB FOCUSED. Finally something done the way it should be! I am not an employee or affiliated with them in any other way, this is a genuine review from a real patient. Exceeded all my expectations, from the moment I was wheeled through their door, on a Friday night no less, after 9 days in a hospital bed. Desk staff were waiting for me with a smile, knew my name and where I was supposed to go. Nurse and 2 techs/aides, all friendly and efficient, came to my room right away and got me all cleaned up and situated and comfortable (and made me laugh:)), I instantly felt cheered up and very good about being there. I even saw a doctor that night and got all my meds (and saw 2 Drs every day after that!). The next day OT came early and got me up and dressed and in a wheelchair for the first time since my surgery (revision of infected hip replacement with femur fracture), went to rec with other patients. Even saw PT on Sunday which shocked my mom and her friends, but, since that's all they do there, PT/OT are not auxiliary staff. M-F you have 3 hours of therapy a day (of whatever kinds you need) but it's broken up into multiple sessions with different therapists and breaks in between, good balance of activity and free time, other people to talk to (staff and patients) and private time in the room. They work with you at whatever level you are at so don't let it deter you if you can't do very much. I myself had still been using a bedpan before I got there (TMI? Sorry!) and had multiple movement and weight bearing restrictions in place my whole time there (and still at home now) as well as other physical limitations. They figured out exactly how to do everything I needed to do within those parameters, taught me, then I practiced it over and over with assistance and supervision before having to go home and do it all myself. It was nice seeing other pts working on all kinds of other things in the therapy rooms too, which are large with lots of equipment and surrounded by windows. Can tell that staff really enjoy working there too, I can honestly say I did not see even one sour attitude my whole time there which is amazing. Ok, so the food is not superb, but that wasn't the most important thing to me. It was good enough for my time there (10 days) . It's not long term, and certain things actually were very good. I did have a friend bring me a Keurig coffee maker of my own which was very helpful . I had friends and family come visit mainly so that they could see the place for their own sakes, now they too will not even consider going anywhere else for rehab if RIO is an option.* *FYI: Don't count on the social workers to tell you about RIO or think you don't qualify for it if they aren't, they weren't going to tell me about it either (I don't know why). I feel very fortunate to have learned about RIO and to have gotten to spend that initial intimidating, helpless-feeling, and critical early recovery time there; I know it could have gone very differently! EDIT: Went back to RIO after the second revision surgery 3 months later and again had a positive experience in all areas of care. My mother is having knee replacement surgery tomorrow and I very much hope she is able to get in to RIO as well!

Experiencia negativa: Don't send your family to this place. A bunch of young girls with little training. If you're lucky you'll get a good one every now and then..the nurse call button is a joke. You will sit in you pee for a while or puss yourself most times before someone comes. A very very frustrating experience most days. Most nurse techs don't have the same minimum training.there are a h1ndful of good ones. Discharge date didn't come soon enough. I'll never come back. If I have another issue I'll have to find somewhere else.. I appreciate those that understood the plight of people who had to use the resources of this facility. They rocked it. They know who they are. Most are here for the paycheck. I don't recommend.pic us after they told me I need to start using it.may they could have made sure it was usable.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give a 0 I would. Have tried to get billing adjusted for over a year after being over charged. Totally ignore the facts. I guess I need to get Medicare involved to settle this claim. Have reached out and left my phone number. Have not had a return call. Added 12/27/23 If this issue is not rectified within the next 14 days I will be filing complaints with Medicare.

Experiencia positiva: I had a family member staying here and everyone is really nice and understanding. Down to earth people with amazing personality. But I would give a 5 star if my family member got everything that she ordered at meal time. There was always something missing. Kitchen staff is a little bit careless. I would still recommend family members coming here.

Experiencia fantástica: The therapist (PT, OT, ST, Respiratory and Rec Therapy) were amazing. They are supportive, encouraging and celebrate all successes. The nurses were helpful with medication management and communicating needs to doctors. (Especially ours Connie, Amina & Brittny). The majority of aids were helpful with getting ADL needs and needs met, etc. especially Vicki. Thanks to a wonderful staff and amazing doctors! My husband was home for Christmas after 10 days. He feels empowered to keep his recovery moving forward. This is a true blessing!

Experiencia negativa: My spouse has been neglected by the nursing staff while he has been a patient there for rehabilitation. During his stay there, it takes 30 minutes for a nurse to come to his room when he pull the nursing callbutton every time not some time but every time. This place is awful and the nursing staff is lazy. The physical therapists and occupational therapists staff is good. All I can say is that the CEO and the Board needs to reprimand their nursing staff and make them treat the patients better. I have never seen so many lazy nurses before, always socializing and not meeting the needs of the patients. Please make this place better. They are slacking in a lot of areas. .

Experiencia negativa: If i could give 0 stars I would. My grandmother broke her hip, pelvic, and tailbone and once her 10 days was up they immediately shoved her out the door when she is NOT ready. The caseworker did not do her job and said it was up to my grandfather to set up home care for her. They didn't set up anything so they were trying to send her home with NOTHING AND NO ONE TO CARE FOR HER.

Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend RIO to anyone seeking comprehensive, thorough, serious rehabilitation following surgery or injury. My 10 day stay at RIO following an extensive back surgery (my 6th) and a week in the hospital was overwhelmingly positive. The Physical and Occupational Therapists, the Techs, the RNs and LPNs and the Medical Assistants - they truly cared about me and about the mission of RIO. I also had 24 hour medical and rehab doctor care. If you've had the traditional "nursing home" rehab after surgery, come check this place out and see what true rehabilitation is supposed to be like. This place is unique, and you WILL benefit and WILL be rehabilitated during your stay here. Highly recommended.

Experiencia fantástica: I absolutely love to be in at this rehabilitation center. Wonderful staff nurses doctors therapist all of them very friendly. Great physical therapy and occupational therapy. And most of the time very timely in coming to room when ring for the nurse. Only had an issue one time with a nurse not coming. I found this place has wonderful food as well. If I ever god forbid, have to come to rehab again it will definitely be at RIOS!

Experiencia fantástica: My mid octogenarian Dad recently was discharged after a fall. Given his advancing age we have had lots of experience with local rehab facilities. The salesperson from RIO assured us that they were a great facility in spite of their somewhat low ratings online. We'd had a EXTREMELY BAD experience elsewhere with another facility that inexplicably had slightly better ratings than RIO. Can only hope our review helps move the needle favorably. The staff and facility were excellent. My only gripe is website STILL indicates they are pet friendly and they absolutely are not. Hopefully they will correct this recent change in policy online.

Experiencia fantástica: I can't say enough great things, they were wonderful! All staff, even front desk went out of their way to be super nice and caring. You can tell the employees are happy and, in turn, treat the patients very well. My father is mostly blind and deaf, and in other facilities, we felt uneasy leaving him at all. However, we felt comfortable he was in good hands here at all times. He loved the food and the facility was extremely clean too!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Walsh and all of the staff are absolutely amazing here. I came in 2 weeks ago unable to even move my legs after breaking my back, im now able to use a walker and leave today! All of the nurse staff, pt and ot staff, and the cleaning crews are all just absolutely amazing people and treated me great! I was worried about the low star reviews, but i gave it a chance and im so glad i did. Most of their patients are elderly and dont know how to leave a google review, so unfortunately thats why it is so low. Id like to specifically mention Dr. Walsh is the best doctor Ive ever had and the nurses Ms. Brandi, Ms. Misty, and Ms. Melody were absolutely top not people and my case worker Ms. Cindy. I cant say enough good stuff about them. And a special thanks to my OT Allison, she does this job for free for schooling, and never once let that effect the way she treated me and helped me. I sincerely from the bottom of my heart thank you all, and thanks to you, I will be able to hold my first born in 5 weeks and Lux will have a Daddy able to stand tall. Thank you

Experiencia positiva: I would like to start off by saying that this place is just like many other nursing facilities in general. They have been short staffed and the workers are doing the best they can. What a lot of family members don’t understand is that the staff is only human and they are doing the best that they can. I appreciate the care that my aunt got while she was there and being a nurse myself having to have worked thru this pandemic it took a toll on me. You have people who don’t realize that they aren’t the only patient or family members who don’t realize that their loved one isn’t the only patient that needs care. Things like this coupled with the fact that sometimes the workload is almost unbearable bc of the patient to nurse/aide ratio is why staffing will almost certainly from now on be a problem. I only graduated in 2020 with my BSN and no longer work in facilities because it’s too stressful. Looking at some of the complaints I’m happy with my decision. I want to thank the staff here though, for being so caring and thoughtful amidst this craziness. Please don’t pay attention to these negative reviews. You guys are doing the best you can. Please don’t be discouraged.

Experiencia negativa: Their front desk staff is awful. The treat visitors and patient rudely I felt both were being racist toward me, and my family. Their policies are horrible as well as they were totally unprepared for us the one nurse said she had know idea she was getting a new patient. The staff on admittance were unprepared we waited with the patient in the car 20 minutes until someone became available to take him in! The only redeeming quality of this place is that the physical therapy is good. Food and staff it's terrible.

Experiencia positiva: Came to visit today and was turned away because they changed the rule with no notice and now children under 14 can't visit because of flu season. I brought my son with me last week with no issues. So I drove all the way there to be turned away unable to visit my Mother because I had my 3 year old son with me. I have no one to watch him so I just can't visit my mother. Then I had to turn around and drive home with a screaming upset toddler who was upset because he wanted to see his Grammy. Families should be given some heads up. Very disappointed.

Experiencia negativa: This place is HORRIBLE DO NOT PUT LOVED ONES HERE the rehab is good but the staff on the floor is non caring yells at the patient leaves them lay in soiled mess turns off bed alarm so patient then falls out of bed and had too go to hospital and get 10 stitches had call light on and nobody comes i could go on but this should be enough not too put your loved one at this place please HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE this was July 2021 0 0 0 0 0 star

Experiencia negativa: The therapists were good - they had no doctor on the floor at night; the nurses rarely answered the bell promptly, there was no supervision; I guess their directors were “work from home” as were the other staff. They never answered the phone and sometimes mixed up medications! Family members weren’t allowed to stay the night so that they couldn’t see and report the discrepancies actually going on! My husband got a seizure out there, and I found out from the mother of a man who had been there and later died, a couple of years ago; that they hadn’t taken care of him! Please DO NOT use this facility!
Experiencia negativa: They completely disregarded my neurosurgeons orders and only work on strengthening my arms when I came here because I cannot walk. Took me from taking 8 mg of Dilaudid every 4 hours two ibuprofen 800 every 3 hours. This all happened in less than me being here 24 hours.
Experiencia positiva: I was here a year ago after being in a pedestrian car accident. I had a care nurse put me into my bed while my knee was fractured and screamed at me, telling me to move my legs when I couldn’t feel anything from the waist down and had to learn how to walk again. Other than that one nurse, my therapists I had were AMAZING and I cried leaving them once I had gotten better. Very sweet people and I wouldn’t be where I am without them. Also shoutout to my recreational therapist Mike, he was literally the sweetest man ever and introduced me to another patient there like me so i wouldn’t feel alone . Despite these reviews, I’d say this is a pretty good place since I just got there once it had just opened!

Experiencia positiva: It's a new place but the setup is great. Everything needed to recover fast. Up to date equipment and knowledgeable staff. The Dr.'s are very friendly and helpful to the family as well as the patients. The food is way better than any hospital. A definite plus.

Experiencia fantástica: My father spent time here after having a stroke. His care team was phenomenal. They treated him like an adult and allowed him to have input. During his therapy sessions there was some focus on the activities he loves to do. In doing so, he was more engaged in the sessions and doing exercises on his own in his room between sessions. We only have wonderful things to say!

Experiencia negativa: My girlfriend was in a really bad car accident in which she suffered two broken legs. One of which is not supposed to bent at all. Her first night there they bent her leg. The rehabilitation is excellent, but the care nurses are awful. My girlfriend will sit too long too frequently. Medicines come way late. They're good about asking if she needs anything when they're in the room, but it takes awhile to get back with anything. Worst of all, the nurse tech Eudora, always had an attitude, and it seemed like she really couldn't be bothered to care at all. I'd like to preface this by saying that I understand the nurses are busy, but she needs to be more compassionate. My girlfriend can't even get out of bed by herself.

Experiencia negativa: My brother was at encompass for about eight days recouping from a CVA. Nearly every time I visited, him and his bed, were completely wet due to his incontinence, it was obvious no one had checked him in hours. During his time there he was never bathed or shaved his wife had to do that. I don’t know how the staff maintains their employment the care is so substandard, it’s ridiculous. If you want decent care and a staff that cares go somewhere else !!!

Experiencia negativa: Some of the nurses were high clearly on drugs. Most didnt know what there patients even needed. They were always changing rules for visitors. Very rude and unprofessional. Worst experience we have had at a hospital anywhere.

Experiencia negativa: I only gave a 1 star because it wouldnt allow no stars. A VERY good friend of mine was in the awful place for 3 days, they hurt him several times and left him in solid clothing. No one should be treated this way. This place should be shut down permanently!

Experiencia fantástica: I was admitted April 2018. By May 2018 I was walking, all be it with a walker, but after being flat on my back for almost a year, this was great. I can't say enough good about the doctors and the people performing in rehabilitation, both physical and occupational. Thank You to each and everyone! ! !

Experiencia negativa: My husband was in a horrible motorcycle accident and after the hospital he was admitted to health South of Dayton. Most of the staff was real polite and done a great job with him. The doctors was very judgemental and argumentive with him. The "sitters most of them was very good with him but there was a few incidences that I am not happy about.

Experiencia fantástica: HealthSouth is the Very Best rehabilitation facility in the entire Dayton, Ohio area ! The Doctors, Nurses, Therapists, Aides and Support Staff are Outstanding !! I Highly recommend this facility to anyone needing Rehabilitation !!
Experiencia negativa: This is poorest excuse for a physical therapy hospital I've ever seen. They are lazy and when something happens to a patient they lie to their family. Things come up missing and no one cares. If something happens they "investigate" themselves and I'm sure you can imagine what final lie looks like. They will over medicate your family member and therapy is a joke. I would not my dog to this place.

Experiencia fantástica: My mother received excellent care. Doctors and nurses not only took excellent care of her, they worked to correct some problems with her meds, and they did an excellent job of communicating with family. They followed up after she was discharged and made arrangements for home health care once she was home as well. I've never seen ANY place that cared for their patients as well as they did for my Mom.

Experiencia negativa: My father got pneumonia and bed sores during his visit. The physical therapy is good. The medical care is terrible and the food is absolutely appalling. We thought inpatient rehabilitation would be better than a nursing home...not really. They stick you in a wheelchair and forget about you for the day. When they discovered the bedsores, they did absolutely nothing to treat them...no bandaging...nothing. 2 months later and he is still trying to get rid of them. Avoid this place.
