Experiencia negativa: I think it's ridiculous that such a small detail gets out of hand. How is it possible that only one parent can stay overnight!? Do you know what a difficult task it is to take care of a person in their new life of recovery? Please take that into consideration. Not all the cases are the same. In certain cases, 2 parents or 2 close relatives are needed when both can stay. Also, if the close family is there, why can't they use the bathroom? It's okay for visitors not to use it (no visitors' bathroom). but the family that is sleeping there does need it. There is no way in the middle of the night they are wandering through the corridors looking for the restrooms, and meanwhile, the patient is alone in the room. Think of this as if it were for yourselves. Beforehand, many patients and their families agreed with this feedback. If the situation gets better, I will remove this comment. SPANISH using google Translate: Pienso que es ridículo que un detalle tan pequeño se les vaya de la mano. Cómo es posible que sólo un padre se pueda quedar a dormir!? Saben la tarea tan difícil de cuidar a una persona en su nueva vida de recuperación? porfavor, tomen eso en consideración. No todos los casos son iguales pero en algunos casos se necesitan los 2 padres o 2 familiares cercanos cuando los 2 pueden quedarse Tambien si la familia cercana esta ahí quedándose a dormir, no pueden usar el baño? Esta bien que los visitantes no lo usen (baños no son para visitantes). pero la familia que esta ahí si lo necesita. Ni modo que en medio de la noche esten divagando por los pasillos buscando un baño y mientras tanto el paciente sólo en el cuarto Piensen en esto como si fuera para ustedes mismos Antes the poner este comentario, algunos pacientes y sus familias estuvieron de acuerdo con este review. Si la situación mejora, yo removere este comentario.
Experiencia negativa: Esperé desde noviembre 2023 y me pusieron la cita hasta marzo 2024 para mi primera cita en este centro, cuando se llegó la fecha de mi cita me llamaron 2 días antes para informarme que la Habían pospuesto para mayo del año en curso, en mayo me llamaron un día antes para decirme que la programaron otra vez en junio 03 y luego me volvieron a llamar para decirme que se programo para el año 2025 en enero. Tuve que cambiar el centro por necesitaba visitar al doctor cuanto antes y ahora me están atendiendo en AltaMed son más profesionales que acá ( están enviando mensajes de recordatorio y llamando para confirmar la cita y nunca me la han cancelado ) ya me llevan un control bastante bueno

The social workers walked me through and through for every thing. The therapists too helped him for everything. This hospital is really a blessing for patients. I am always grateful to the staff .

Experiencia fantástica: I spent 3 days doing new tests on different days. Parking was close to the clinic. Plenty of handicapped parking. Wheel chair ramps and bathrooms were easy to find. I went in for a ultra sound of my heart and was called in by a pretty Asian girl. She handed me a gown and said undress and put this gown on. I expected her to leave but she didn't. She stood right there as I undressed I was very uneasy. As the test started she didn't explain what she was doing and just started pressing with the probe. I kept saying it was hurt ing my chest bone but she wouldn't ease up. I told her several times. She didn't talk even when I asked questions. I was not happy with the lack of people skills with this girl.
Experiencia negativa: I see a lot of good reviews about stroke therapy and how the nurses and staff help, but my aunt has been at Rancho los Amigos for 5 months and a year ago she suffered a stroke and needs to take rehabilitation therapy, but every time I ask them about the therapies they answer me reluctantly saying that the waiting list can last 1 to 2 years of waiting and I am very surprised how people give good recommendations saying that they help them super well and quickly. Also recently I changed my daughter to pediatrics rancho los amigos and is a really bad service. They did blood tests 1 month ago and to date I have been waiting for the results every time I call them tell me you have to make an appointment with the nurse I make it and they tell me wait for the nurse to call you and to this day I am still waiting for that call I go personally and at the front desk that girl she have a really bad actitud she always telling me that I have to call the nurse line when I already did and no one gives me an answer about my daughter's results.

Experiencia negativa: One of the worst places to go, seems like there too concerned about getting you 8 vaccine shots then your actual problems you have. Dr.Jardine is the worst, she brushes off your problems instead of trying to figure them out. trust me if you feel like if somethings wrong please go to the Emergency Room even if it’s something small. They want you to get worse here not heal you.

Experiencia positiva: I have mixed emotions about this facility for my primary care. Some visits are great & some are pretty bad. I've had some experiences where they're plain rude & give me mixed messages. Getting an appointment takes 2-4 months out which is crazy because the longer they take the higher the risk is that i suffer worse from this mystery illness they still haven't helped with. I really want to like this place but I feel as if you have to learn how they do things. I'm coming from Kaiser where I could get same day appointments or appointments in the same week instead of waiting months to speak to a Dr. They all seem like they want to rush. There's no accommodations for people like me who have ADHD & forget a lot of appointments. There's no psychiatrist. They can do better. I feel like I get the majority of my primary care at the urgent cares & women's clinics since it takes them so long to even hear from a Dr.
Experiencia negativa: (They are to Rude and Racists ) …I remember when I was young hearing family members talking about this place how good it was and it was a great place to go. When they told me I had an appointment in here I was excited to come. I was wrong my first time here and I felt discriminated.The receptionist (claudia) is to rude she is there to help or answer your questions instead she answered really rude and talking with other staff about there personal life instead of doing there work. They shouldn’t judge of how you look or dress. I didn’t like there service at all , hope I don’t have to go again.

Experiencia fantástica: My mom was admitted to Rancho for rehabilitation after a debilitating stroke. As stroke patients and their loved ones know all too well, the days following a stroke are immensely distressful. The sudden loss of independence and mobility was particularly hard on my mom - a normally super energetic, active, gregarious woman who would impart that warm, fuzzy feeling in everyone she'd cross paths with. She spent the first week at an unrelated hospital - which treated the underlying physiology of the stroke - reduced to a confined ball of anxiety and helplessness. It wasn't until her admission to Rancho when we saw the first signs of her recovery - her characteristic smile and a dollop of that famous humor. Rancho's rehabilitation service is highly organized. A strong team of professionals is assigned to each patient. My mom's team included a doctor, physical therapist, occupational therapist, recreational therapist, speech therapist (she ended up not needing speech therapy), social worker and a rotation of caring nurses. The team was wonderful in their approach to my mom's treatment. They therapists began by understanding my mom's lifestyle, customizing her therapy so she could go back to doing the things she loved - painting, cooking & working out. She spent several days rotating through a well crafted regimen of occupational and physical therapies before being allowed to return home. Her wonderful team provided mobility devices and recommendations for home fittings that would reduce her risk for falls. Post discharge, she continued to have weekly sessions with Rancho professionals to monitor and shape her recovery. It has been almost a year since her stroke. My mom's back to her everyday self - walking to the gym, strolling the farmers market for fruits and flowers, becoming a proficient watercolor painter and doling out humor of course. Thank you Rancho for the care and treatment, and GARGANTUAN thanks & high fives especially to the following All Stars: Brandon, Jennifer, Jojo, Dr Oranusi, Yolanda and Shelly! I was filled with admiration and appreciation watching these professionals go about their work. On top of their proficiency in restoring patients' abilities, they brought smiles, joy and energy to the hospital floors. I can't recommend them enough, and wish them all the success in the career goals they aspire toward - they certainly deserve it.
Experiencia fantástica: Really great rehabilitation center. I've been going here for the last 6years! I go there for my physical and speech therapy. I also a member of Beyond Therapy. Excellent rehab facility! Currently undergoing a major rehabilitation of the campus. Due to reopen in 5 years!! Very happy with the services there. The Wellness Center (gym) I a great way to exercise my body parts. Can't wait until the New Rancho Los Amigos opens!!

Experiencia fantástica: I have visited the center twice, both times to see incredibly interesting presentations focused on technology positively impacting the disabled. Amazingly bright, caring and helpful staff. It's incredibly impressive to see the forward thinking of some of the staff at this center. Pro tip - if you can't find parking on the ground level, go into the large garage to the left of the entrance.

Once we saw our ortho Dr Najibi, gave a solution to the problem. My husband ended with a total hip replacement, within 6 weeks from the consult visit and doing well. Experiencia negativa: Absolutely ridiculous customer service. I was treated here 3 years ago and now it seems like once you're an outpatient they could care less. I have been on hold for a total of 2 hours nd now they wanna say that I signed up for mail delivery of my prescription when I never did, and to make matters worse it's being sent to the wrong address.
Experiencia positiva: It’s been about 40-45 years since I’ve been to this hospital, I was a kid but I was born with osteogenesis imperfecta and had several surgeries. Dr. Hoffer was my Dr., at the time I heard since his retirement his son took over. I don’t know what the facility is like now but I will say that then the pediatric ward was great, well as good as it can be for a kid constantly in the hospital. I remember being there frequently during Christmas and movie stars, cartoon characters and musicians would come visit the kids, also they would take us for outings like school field trips to the Rose Bowl parade. They also had an actual school there so kids didn’t fall behind which was good since I was normally there at least 5-6 months at a time.
Experiencia negativa: Mom was in ICU and got an infection. We saw nurses cleaning her wounds without gloves. The day before my mom passed away we had a church father come pray and I walked in on the doctor telling the staff on the front desk (They’re praying to F’in Jesus) a staff member tried to change the subject. The doctor was very unprofessional, disrespectful, lacked empathy. Every time we asked to speak to him we were told he was in a meeting, when 2 minutes later we would see him walking around the halls laughing on his phone. When she passed, a nurse told us (yeah we’ve been seeing this happen a lot with this operation). They never called us to let us know they were going to do the operation. We asked to be called before to be known the risks and nobody called.
Experiencia negativa: My child was referred to Speech Therapy, in the spring of 2021. Because the speech pathologist was on "maternity leave", my child was just seen in April 2022. We attended a mere 2 visits, before the speech pathologist cancelled all further sessions... siting insurance issues. I fixed the insurance issues. Now she states, she needs "signatures" from referring Dr. Which is not true! She needs to tell those lies to her momma! Her attitude from the start was unpleasant, and to deny a child services for your own personal biases is DISGUSTING! Leading Rehabilitation center in nation? Based off who's standards? Speaking as a relative of an employee at this medical center, AVOID IT! They could GAF less!
Experiencia negativa: I understand that being in healthcare services is a very demanding job but I hope the nurses/case managers from Dr. Chambers and Dr. Ulloa’s office could at least call back after three weeks of leaving a message/report regarding a patient. I don’t expect them to respond within 24 hours but not responding for three weeks after leaving several messages? It’s very frustrating especially when the care for a patient is being delayed. I think this place needs a serious improvement with their communication and follow up.
Experiencia fantástica: My dad was sent here due to acute stroke and high blood pressure. They had round clock nurses to help him and tried to assist him more since he can't really speak English so I interpreted most of the time. The visiting hour is until 6PM which is pretty early. Other than that the doctors and nurses were nice and welcoming. Personally texted me when I couldn't be reached because I was working. And they also had a bit of humor which was nice to lighten the mood.

Experiencia fantástica: My daughter was a patient there and every therapist and doctor took very good care of her and me as well as we pushed her on her therapy after so so years of now being home and not seeing them this facility still includes my daughter in programs events they have and this Christmas unfortunately my debit card was stolen and used and took all my rent, bill and Christmas money but somehow god heard my cries and so did rancho los amigos because someone there adopted my daughter for a Christmas event and by the grace of god they blessed us with some groceries and some money i was in need of thank u rancho los amigos and thank u god

Experiencia negativa: My brother has Muscular dystrophy, is 40 years of age and needs the care that can be provided by Rancho Los Amigos. Because of his condition, he cannot speak or communicate therefore he needs a family member who has power of attorney to make decisions on his behalf as well as communicate his wishes. The team, Alex (administrator) and Sheila (charge Nurse) at Rancho Los Amigos has denied the access by either one of his caregivers to be with him during his stay at the hospital. Once more, my brother cannot talk or comprehend without the help of his sister and mom/dad, therefore his transfer to Rancho Los Amigos has been cancelled because of their lack of caring for their patient. My brother has been there several times before as well as his two brothers who have past and have been able to get the help and care that was needed. My brother is in grave condition and we can only hope that this incident does not become more costly to the family than just a refusal to be treated. Not to mention the law states: Hospital policies that deny entry to essential caregivers for people with disabilities violate the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, California Gov. Code § 11135 and California Civil Code § 51, et. seq
Experiencia negativa: Extremely disappointed in this institution. Their lack of understanding and sympathy for patients suffering with muscular dystrophy is disgusting. It is a human right for any patient that cannot advocate for themselves to be granted the right to have their caretaker by their side no matter the circumstances.
Experiencia negativa: They have some great doctors,nurses,and workers that really attend to the need of their patient but they have some that are rude and not knowledgeable in certain areas giving you false information and give patients the run arounds which could be life threatening.
Experiencia negativa: This hospital was always amazing so I'm disappointed I have to make this review. Growing up with 3 uncles with muscular dystrophy was difficult but, my family knew we had Rancho Los Amigos for help. Back in 2016, they helped bring back the last surviving uncle of the 3 from a dangerous case of Pneumonia. We knew they were one of the best places to take him to in case another crisis arised due to the nature of duchenne muscular dystrophy. Unfortunately he got sick this year (not from covid). As a result of the current global situation, there's been limits to people who are allowed inside with their loved ones. But I feel this is a different case. My uncle really needs his power of attorney to be there and help make decisions for him since he can't communicate on his own. This place once had so much compassion and I'm not sure what happened. But something has to be done for them to be able to understand why my uncle can't be alone in the hospital room. And so his transfer to this hospital was cancelled.

Due to his grave condition and and one of the oldest of his generation that has surpass his life expectancy of the horrible DMD. His constant care is needed by a family member which has a POA and their covid vaccine. They denied entrance to his mom and sis. They don't care anymore of caring and compassion. He stayed at St Francis were he is in really good hands. His mom cancelled transfer with a terrorizing face thinking she wouldn't be able to be with him in Rancho. I hope they understand so many dis ppl with a disability and old ppl die alone thatz not right just because of policies that only help the hospital not the patients who actuall service pay for everything

Experiencia negativa: 1 star because some of the nurses and staff are RUDE. They don't like it when I become rude, go figure. I was told because they are low on staff but that's not my fault. I went 2 weeks ago to drop off some stuff for my son and I waited 30 minutes inside the main entrance, as I see the nurse coming towards me she looked like she was just not having it, I said thank you and she turned her back and walked away. I don't work in the medical field but if you can't handle your job don't work. You can't be rude to people and not expect a comeback. I think they need better training. Scroll down and look at the reviews for the staff, its just not me. Update number 1, the staff there are full of lies!! Someone there made a mistake and they are trying to cover it up. Ranchoneeds better training ASAP! I'll be back with Update 2 and it probably won't be any better.

Experiencia fantástica: I've had pleasure of being a patient at rancho since 2005. I want multiple sclerosis patient. The doctors there are very personable and attentive to their patients. Dr Margaret Burnett is my neurologist and she is phenomenal. Walter Weiss and Sarah Wallenrod are my physical therapists and they have accomplished so much for me. I wouldn't feel comfortable anywhere other than Rancho. I would recommend them to any person with a spinal cord injury, stroke or neurological issue.
Experiencia fantástica: Good so far after surgery. I would recommend this place. I had a surgery last year. Was awful and lack of pain management. Other than that. You get the best care and docs. If your family or you go. Your in good hands. Great doctors.
Experiencia fantástica: I'm not going to lie ,at first I was scared coming to this nursing home to do physical therapy. I was here close to a month. I fell in love with how respectfull the nurses and staff where with me .The nurses where so attentive to my needs and made sure my medications where taken on time. The nurses work really hard with smiles and positive look towards each day . Did I mention the food was so good , A big thank you to the whole physical therapy team , thank you for being patient with me and went above and beyond with my therapy's. To the social workers and management team who helped me with everything . Thank you doctors who made sure my health was there priority. To the Receptionist's , it was always good talking to you guys and please keep up the good work . Raymond thank you for leading a great team and always great to see you in a great spirit to work. Briarcrest makes sure to take care of everyone in there facility , I got to witness the hard work the facility does to have patients live comfortable on there stay here. Experiencia positiva: I am a 7 year stroke survivor and have been cared for by Rancho Los Amigos' primary physician, physical therapists, occupational therapists, ear nose throat physician, optometrist, podiatrist and orthotic physicians. I receive the best personal care from all physicians and they remember me as a patient and a person. I have been living in the midwest for 2 years and come back to Rancho Los Amigos 2 times a year for doctor appointments. They are just that professionally good. Thank you Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilition Center Hospital for helping me to maintain a high quality disabled life.
Experiencia negativa: Very nice and clean building but their Staff need better training on how to treat and acknowledge patients. Most of the Nursing staff ignore you and act as if they don't want to be there...and the Doctors don't sit and discuss your medical conditions, they're always in a hurry to leave the exam rooms as if they have a time limit. Administration needs to looks at these concerns in order to be a better Rehabilitation Hospital.

Experiencia negativa: Nicole who checked my mom in in room 2 3rd floor has been so rude to use since we check in she was chewing ice since we walked in was spitting while talking. This is a serious matter and she is chewing ice like a camel. I had told her if she can please stop since she was being so rude all she said was “ hmmm they are so good” people like that shouldn’t be eating IN GENERAL!
Experiencia negativa: I will only edit this post to add additional details or incidents. Today March 15th, 2019 I spent about an hour trying to get a hold of the nurse message center but no one was answering. I hung up and called again and again. A lady named Tammy answered twice. The second time I explained my concern that no one was answering and I asked if she could find out why that was BEFORE TRANSFERRING ME AGAIN and her response was that she was only supposed to transfer the calls and nothing else. So she transferred me yet again! Using a second cell phone I called the general line again and demanded to speak with a supervisor while still waiting on the other cell phone for the nurse. After waiting for about 20 minutes yet again, a nurse finally answered and she explained to me that 1. She has meetings in the mornings 2. The other nurse was late 3. There’s only 2 nurses taking calls 4. Today is has been very busy. I find it comical that an old hospital with a brand new facility with several clinics, and perhaps hundreds of patients has only 2 nurses taking messages. The nurse was respectful and helped me with everything I needed so I don’t hold it against her. This is BAD management
Experiencia fantástica: The wellness center here is one of the best place to workout for me, I am a quadriplegic so going to a regular gym isn’t as convenient, this gym is very accessible for me and others who has suffered a life changing injury or trauma, such as a stroke, traumatic brain injury, etc... this place has help me in so many ways, at first I was in a wheelchair for almost 4years and now after 6 years I am able to walk with the help of not only the gym but the people here, I now have so many friends who understand how difficult life is, I’m not saying that by going to this gym that you will walk but it will help you in so many ways because each injury is different, I hope a pray that everyone does heals completely, remember it is said “ if you don’t use it you lose it” and I believe that 100%, if you don’t try you will never know. Thank you Ranch los Amigos.
Experiencia negativa: I'm here at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital as a patient I have a heart condition that I almost died from and I'm just trying to recover from this and go home. Now I was fine with the patient care that this hospital provided and I didn't have a problem with any of the morning and day shift nurses here but for some reason I'm now having problems with the some of the night shift nurses. So my whole stay here was is supposed to be a total of 6 weeks and I've been here since 07/05/2019 and today it is 07/16/2019 so this is my problem my last dose of medicine for the night is at 12-12:30am every day and my next dose is due at around 5-5:30 am so do the math roughly I only get about 4 hours of sleep every night not counting the time it takes to fall asleep. Let me say this before I get to the big issue, I know it's not anyone fault that I'm here receiving care in the first place and I do highly appreciate the staff who is working towards my recovery they are truly a blessing and a life saver to me. All I ask is for the staff to try and be considerate when it comes to my sleep time and meet me half way especially
Experiencia fantástica: Exceptional staff from the janitorial workers, the meal delivers, the hospital administration workers, the counselors, nurses to the nurses aids, the PT/OT staff and their student workers, the doctors, and everyone else who works at Rancho Los Amigos. They made my stay there pleasant and fun while I rehabed my broken body.
