Experiencia negativa: I am trying to be objective because the nurse today doesn't know my condition. But I didn't wake up a day it's not your fault I have this disease. And keep saying that so people don't get angry with me. Looking at the reviews online it appears most people are happy here. When I received people at Alexian to help me further my recovery I was given information on rehabilitation places to go to, this one had a 2 star across the board. No nice representative came out like the other three representatives came out hoping I choose them. I had even given all my information regarding bank statements and it sounded hopeful. Then I was told here is that that place has accepted me. I am not back to normal yet. And I didn't come I didn't come to this facility to be bedridden and helpless. But I woke up at 4 am could barely move. And my electric bed that is plugged in to a bad electrical outlet doesn't work again. I could not reach the call button. A nurse that happens to be working came in and showed me how she was going to take care of me because I woke up in distress. She was angry at me because she said I could move a few hours ago She brought in my carbidopa put it out of my reach with no water. Lucky for me this new roommate I have can walk and gave me my drink on the counter so I could swallow my medicine. I have been fortunate to have met the nicest people. Now I am here long story short. Trying to get Parkinson's condition back to how I was a couple months ago. Thanks for reading. Hope this helps I think this whole system needs help( The medical system to house people with serious illnesses)

Experiencia fantástica: I have to say that Aperion Care Elgin has a great atmosphere from the moment you walk in, everyone is welcoming and Gustavo always goes above and beyond to make sure resident needs are covered, always has a big smile.
Experiencia fantástica: I've been suffering with an amputated foot for a few years now I've been struggling I've been to more than several short-term and long Care facilities I've been to three aperion care Elgin facilities I've always been treated well and received very good care the administrator and director of nursing is always went out of the way to get things done for me in regards to my discharge and my well-being and my care as while I was at the facility I'm not an older person but it seems that they have a lot of activities for the older people and they provide a good atmosphere I would recommend this facility to anybody
Experiencia fantástica: Thanks to Gustavo for making this process pleasant for my grandpa and I. Admitting my love one is hard enough however to skip an excruciating hassle of getting my love one admitted help me feel like this was the right step to have my grandpa well taken care of.
Experiencia fantástica: The facility is nicely kept, and it doesn't smell. The aides and the nurses care about the residents and know their patients very well. The other staff also care and go above and beyond to ensure resident satisfaction. Meals are home cooked and are appetizing.
Experiencia fantástica: I really like the care that they provide for my grandfather. It’s hard to trust facilities to look after your loved ones, but I’m really impressed with how they operate and their sense of urgency.
Experiencia fantástica: I have enjoyed being the administrator at this building for the last year and a half. The teamwork we have cultivated here and the improvements we have implemented have been amazing to be a part of. We have such a rockstar team here and even more amazing are the residents we serve each and every day. Love to you all, you will always hold a special place in my heart!
Experiencia fantástica: The Staffing here are Great even though they short of staff in CNA Staffing here do the best they can and I admire them for doing their work sometimes they ask to work a double but that's really great to do and stay no matter even if you don't have to ask them.

Experiencia fantástica: This facility is a great place to work, nice and clean. The administrator and DON are awesome and very accommodating even with us agency staff. Also the staff is caring and helps when needed.
Experiencia fantástica: I have my grandma here who’s been here for the past year who has been slowly declining due to medical reasons. She loved attending activities with others, but sadly after an operation that was needed that caused her to go from using a walker to now being in a wheelchair. Thankfully she still has the energy mentally to want to get up and participate in what Aperion has to offer their residents. She mentioned a handsome man that is always nice to her and the other residents and described him as having a “big smile”. I visited recently and I can see why she talked about this man often lol. Not only is he handsome but he’s extremely nice and helpful towards the residents when they’re in the halls. He’s got a good sense of humor. I thought he was a nurse, but it turns out he’s actually the admissions director. I also witnessed a lady who I believed was a nurse or a CNA (because I always see her out in the halls or checking in on residents asking them how they’re doing) but later found out she’s actually the DON. Coming from a background of being a CNA I’m HIGHLY surprised to see a DON or administrator on the floor that often. My old administrator and DON never really came out of the office much. So it’s nice and relieving to see after some years the healthcare world has changed and everyone is here to help regardless of the job title they carry. Not to forget the CNAS and Nurses or house keeping teams either. I appreciate you guys as well. Thanks so much for all you guys do.
Experiencia negativa: Had an absolutely horrible experience during my time at Aperion, Elgin. I required a wound vac, but it was a while before they could one. They told me they found one in the basement. There was a male nurse who was terrible and has no business treating patients. After finding me unresponsive, they wanted the Ambulance drivers to take me back to Loyola...1 hour away. Thank God they refused and took me to St. Joe's. Please, if you love someone, don't take them there.

Experiencia negativa: No one picks up the phone, blatant apathy. Don't go here, worst facility I have ever dealt with.. God forbid you need to call cuz you'll be there for 30 minutes and they'll pretend they don't hear you
Experiencia negativa: It's our first time in an Aperion facility; my elderly dad went to the Elgin location. It has been a scary experience. When you first walk in, the aesthetics are pleasing. Some receptionists are nice; others are very unwelcoming. You walk past reception and it smells like pee everywhere. The patient rooms are run down and outdated, they look dirty and smell really bad. The facility doubles-up patients in a very small room. The food trays are old and chipped. The patient room walls are dirty. We came to visit and found my dad's throw up all over the floor and sheets; who knows how long he had been that way. We talked to 3 different staff and asked them to please clean up; they would all pass the ball around. It took a log time before someone cleaned the vomit, and when they did, they used rags and left them inside the room. They don't attend to my dad when his meds are due. They bring meals at least an hour past when he is suppossed to eat. We witnessed 2-day old food left in the room, and the only reason it got removed was after many pleas. The worst part was when the gentleman/patient sharing my dad's room tried to get up to go use the bathroom. He fell and began screaming in pain. We witnessed staff ignoring his screams for about 15-20 minutes; he was left on the floor and staff walking by shut the room's door so others wouldn't hear the patient's screams. Not a good place for care.
Experiencia negativa: The director of nurses is cold and heartless. This place is Understaffed and the patient rooms are filthy. We came to visit our loved one and found her on the floor. I give the CNA an A. Also Richard and the nurse was wonderful .GW was wonderful too. Don’t leave your loved ones at this nursing home.
Experiencia negativa: Why cant i give this place a negative star? This place is horrible! My dad was unresponsive wen we took him out he was there for physical therapy and had the worst staff all of them please if you love your loved one don’t send them here my dad was verbal wen he got there still used the bathroom by himself and he was found in the floor with no help to come he had asked for help many times and nobody would help him wen you try to question them they go to the point of not even going to clean the room of your patient! They have seniors wondering around soiled while they are talking in the front desk! One employee was admitting his family member and he was doing the most to acomodate him in his room wen they had poor seniors in the floor! thank god my dad is now doing better but he got bad in a week of being there my dad is a dyalisis patient and also has very little vision and they left my dad in his dyalisis building in a chair with out notifying them at all! I have videos of all of this ! I will definitely take measures for not only my dad but for the other families that had parents there and didn’t make it or are traumatized!
Experiencia fantástica: Staff is very attentive, just began therapy here and it is going very good. The doctors here are very quick to respond to concerns Michelle in restorative is great and has taken great time to work with me to get me ready for physical therapy and I really appreciate it and am extremely grateful. And deyby is very helpful and great at assisting cnas to help me transfer into my chair and pretty much anything else that I could possibly need .
Experiencia fantástica: I've been in a lot of nursing homes but honestly Aperion Care is the best. I receive good patient care from the staff administrator Sierra, social service Lourdes , our previous driver Gustavo for attending my personal needs, but especially the Director of Nursing Lorna Martin and in house Nurse Practitioner M.Turner takes a big part of my recovery. It's priceless. All the staff here provide sincere, respectful and compassionate care. I consider Aperion Care Elgin as my home for the rest of My life. Thank you aperion care of Elgin.
Experiencia positiva: My wife DIane mc. Was there from jan to oct 2021 during her stay i have to commend the staff and I mean all the staff for there patience and care thank-you to those that cared for her during covids trying time
Experiencia negativa: My grandfather was a patient a week ago and when he entered the facility was in good standing health with the expectation that he would receive PT and a 25 day antibiotic, he returned to the ER a week later after a “fall” unable to speak after laying on the floor for an entire hour before any professional at Aperion assisted him or called an ambulance. Aperion has now ignored multiple requests to send over his medical records to the hospital. If he dies, this is on Aperion. If you love someone, do NOT send them here. Do everything in your power to advocate for your loved ones, do not let your loved ones be a victim of this place.

Experiencia negativa: I really wish I could give them negative stars. Absolutely horrendous facility. Please, if you care about your family member, do not send them here. We have contacted the hotline about the poor experience our family has gone through, and they were just as horrible. I really hope this place can be evaluated and shut down for good. The people they are "caring" for deserve better.
Experiencia negativa: Did not want to give any stars. My daughter has been a resident for 5 days. Has had no bath,shower,private areas cleaned. She is on a catheter,has not been sanitized or cleaned since she arrived. Bottles of urine that have been emptied left on her dresser. Have some "CNA's very rude. One nurse in particular extremely rude & refusing to help her,as she has no mobility in legs. Tottaly disgusted with this place. Waiting to have her transferred.

I AM LEAVING THE PRIOR REVIEW UP ONLY AS A EXAMPLE TO MAKE REFERENCE TO HOW A COMPANY DIRECTOR CAN BE MADE AWARE OF AN ISSUE, AND IMMEDIATELY... ADDRESSED THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING, WITHIN THE FACILITY.HIS NAME IS MR JIM LOYD , SOME WHERE THERE WAS A COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN.... AND HE WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUES I WAS HAVING,AS SOON AS HE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE SITUATION, HE IMMEDIATELY... TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING THAT I NEEDED. AND I AM PLEASED TO SAY.. I CAN HEAL WITHOUT WORRIES... THANK YOU MR JIM. DON'T PUT YOUR FAMILY HERE....The Quality of Care Here is HORRIBLE!! ALL THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT IS YOUR MONEY, AND WHAT YOUR INSURANCE PAYS THE ROOMS ARE LIKE SMALL CLOSETS AND THEY CRAM 2 PEOPLE IN THEM THEY HAVE POOR VENTILATION... IN THE ROOMS THEY WERE GOING TO PUT ME IN SO I REFUSED TO GO IN THEM I NEED A HOSPITAL BED AND THEY WOULD NOT SUPPLY IT, I SLEPT SITTING UP IN MY WHEELCHAIR AND MY FEET UP. THE SOCIAL WORKERS HARRASED ME THE ENTIRE TIME I WAS THERE ABOUT MOVING IN TO ONE OF THOSE CRAMMED ROOMS THE FOOD WAS NASTY AND WHAT FOOD WAS GOOD I ONLY GOT A HANDFULL OF, I WAS ALWAYS HUNGRY. I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE I WOULD HEAR OTHER RESIDENTS COMPLAIN ABOUT BEING HUNGRY!!! THEY DON'T DESERVE 1 STAR.
