Palomar Medical Center Escondido: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Palomar Hospital/Medical Center is a beautiful facility. I am so glad I trust my health with them. I had a nuclear stress test done. Sounds scary at 71 years old. My test went step by step so smooth and perfect progression. Everyone of the Staff could not be nicer, which keep me very calm. It was all Good. No Negatives. I want to thank them for my care. I recommend them to you.
Thank you for taking the time to share this! We will absolutely pass it along to the team, and we're glad to hear your experience with us was a positive one. We're always here if you should need us!
Experiencia fantástica: Part of their Mission Statement states that they welcome feedback. Their website has no method for this, so I'll leave my comment here. Had a recent surgery here. It had a little complication and I had to return to their ER later that day. I'd give them EXCELLENT marks for all aspects of the care I received. From the front staffing to the RN's and PAs and my Dr. You could not go wrong using this hospital. I do have one COMPLAINT.... They had Fox News on all their lobby TVs. Come on....WTF is that about. This is a horrible display of political incorrectness and should be changed. For that reason I am giving them a less than excellent rating in hopes of getting their attention. Note: After posting this review they immediately responded....kudos. This only solidifies my opinion of the care promises they state in their Mission Statement. For this reason I've revised my review to the 5-Stars I wanted to give in the first place. I would imagine that the next time I visit.... their TVs will be tuned into a more politically correct station. Cheers. And thanks again for such great care. All the best, Ken
Hello - We absolutely welcome feedback and appreciate you sharing about the excellent care - we agree that our team is fantastic and we will pass this along to them. It's also helpful to know that it may not be intuitive to find the "Contact Us" button on our website! If you have additional thoughts to share, please don't hesitate to send us an email - [email protected]. Regarding the TVs - our practice is to keep TVs in public areas tuned to neutral programing (HGTV, cooking shows, etc.) so that our campuses feel welcoming to everyone. We will reinforce this with the team, and thank you for letting us know. Please accept our best wishes for your continued good health. We are always here if you should need us!

It's important to us to follow up with you as soon as we can. Please feel free to email in either Spanish or English, however you are most comfortable. Experiencia negativa: horrible "care" doctors are arguing with each other, nurses are mean and seem unhappy with their career choice, couldn't get my medicine dosage correct horrible, I felt like they were going to let me die
Hi Crystal - We're sorry to hear your experience didn't go as you expected it to, and we'd like to connect with you to follow up. At your convenience, please email us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to get in touch with you directly. Thank you for letting us know about this, and we look forward to speaking with you.
Experiencia fantástica: Very good rehab facility. And the therapists seem to really know their stuff. Would definitely recomment this facility to anyone needing physical therapy!
Thank you!
Experiencia negativa: I cannot believe Matthew's review. I only hope he was paid well. Yes, the nurses care, but they are so short handed that they are run ragged. How the state of California allows this to happen, I have no idea. And to make it worse, the hospital now wants to charge for parking.
Hi Bob - We'd welcome the opportunity to connect with you and learn more about your experience and your thoughts. If you'd like to, you can email us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to get in touch with you directly. Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: I have been waiting since June 2024 for an appointment with Dr. Farasat (formerly Arch Health Partners) of Palomar Health Group. When the referral to her from my primary was completed, I appeared at Dr Farasat’s (Endocrinology) to get an appointment. I was told the earliest I could see the doctor was late September or October but they refused to give me a date. Between June and October, I made two personal in -office attempts to get an appointment. Both times I was told I could not make an appointment but they were aware of the referral, which I had hand delivered in June. I asked my (wonderful) primary doctor for assistance and was told there was nothing he could do to help. Two weeks ago, the endocrinology office left a voice message to call back for an appointment. I did so within minutes and the call was taken by a message center who said my call would be returned in 24-48 hours. I’m still waiting, even though I called again, and true to form it was impossible to talk to anyone in-office. There is absolutely no excuse for this atrocious patient service, which is so contrary with the care I was used to before the unfortunate merger with Palomar. There is only one endocrinologist for the thousands of Palomar patients so I must seek health care out of network, which extra costs should be paid by PHG and not the patient.
Hello - it sounds like your review is for Palomar Health Medical Group (PHMG) rather than for Palomar Health. We are sorry to hear there have been challenges with scheduling your appointment and will absolutely pass this feedback along to PHMG. If you have additional concerns or if there is anything we can help with, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you directly. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: Had a bad accident and was rushed right in. Both doctors and nurses were amazing. Kind and caring, professional and prompt. I've always had a fear of heading to the hospital due to bad past experiences with hospital staff at other locations but, this Hospital and experience has changed my mind for the better. If and when I need to make a doctors visit or make an emergency visit, this will be the place I go 10/10
Hi Daniel - We're so glad to hear you had a positive experience with us! One of our goals is to ease anxiety and worry any way we can, and it's great to have your feedback. Thank you for taking the time, and please accept our best wishes for your continued good health and healing!
Experiencia negativa: I am currently here at the waiting area on 8th floor labour and delivery and this is the how it looks like This is unbelievable … all the furniture windows carpet whole place is DIRTY
Hi Mahmood - Thank you for letting us know about this, and please be assured we are following up with our team today. If you'd like to share anything further, please don't hesitate to email us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you directly.
Experiencia positiva: Great doctor, great nurse, great staff! They all worked professionally and passionately. The only problem I had when I visit the ER is that it took a some time for them to give me some medication of my acute and unbearable pain. But other than that, everything is perfect. I would like to recommend to everyone.
Hi Jason - Thank you for taking the time to write this! We know it's difficult to wait when you're in pain, and we're sorry to hear there was a delay related to that. We really appreciate you sharing the positive parts with us too! Take care and know we're always here if you should need us.
Experiencia fantástica: On October 3rd, I had a Nuclear Stress Test. I had read up on it prior to the procedure, but I was still a bit nervous. The procedure was started almost exactly on time. I was told prior to arrival that my test would take about two hours. I stayed on the first floor for the complete procedure; the two hours went by a lot faster than I had thought it would! A special "thank you" and blessing go to Mary, Dana, Hamid and Laura. All who were responsible for my care that morning. I am so grateful that you all were there to take such good care of me on the 3rd. Thank you from your grateful patient!
Hi Alain - Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience! We agree that the team members you mentioned are fantastic - we'll be sure to pass your feedback along to them and to their leaders. We appreciate it!
Experiencia fantástica: I've visited numerous hospitals and doctors' offices nationwide, but the care and bedside manner at this facility truly stand out. The doctors in this network collaborate seamlessly and display exceptional expertise. The entire Palomar Health system is highly professional, with staff who have such positive attitudes. It's comforting to know that some of my specialists here are familiar with my other specialists from out of state, and it's impressive that my pulmonary doctor of over 30 years has taught some of these current specialists. The hospital maintains impeccable cleanliness and orderliness, even with the Emergency Room under construction. I am immensely grateful for the prompt response when they skillfully treated me after an altercation with three large dogs. Starting anew with specialists after relocating could have been overwhelming, but they've been diligent in ensuring proper communication with my previous doctors. This facility truly excels in prioritizing patient health and well-being.
Hi Matthew - Thank you so much for taking the time to write this - we're so glad to hear your experiences with Palomar Health have been positive ones! Hoping all is well with you now, and remember we're always right here any time you should need us.
(Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience in our hospital. We are so glad you're doing well now. We are always here if you should need us.)
Experiencia negativa: Bad customer service skills and lack of professionalism … doctors do not seem to have a lot of interest in caring about patients needs…I would be afraid to stay overnight…
Hi Catalina - We're sorry to hear your experience with us didn't go the way you expected it to. Experiencia negativa: Terrible hospital, when I was in triage I was disrespected by a man named Josh. It was so bad that a by stander had to come help me. Will never come here again.

Hi Ron - Thanks for taking the time to let us know! We'll be sure Julee and her leadership team sees your feedback. We hope all is well with you - we're always here if you should need us!
Experiencia negativa: Why on earth have you raised your rates on parking and then made it nearly impossible to know how or where to pay??? Valet parking used to be free. Now you pay $8.00 for the privilege to park there, even if only long enough to drop off a person!!! This is unacceptable!!
Hi Kara - Thanks for taking the time to let us know your thoughts on this. Our team is aware and having conversations regarding the parking challenges folks are sharing with us. Parking is always free for anyone with a disabled placard or license plate in the parking structure and with the valet; there is also some free parking available in our uncovered lots – please check and follow signage. We’d welcome the opportunity to connect with you about this if you’d like to share more feedback – you can reach us at [email protected] (that inbox is monitored daily) and let us know how to get in touch with you directly.
Experiencia negativa: Dislocated knee, terrible care, long wait for pain meds, understaffed, and generally trash hospital. If I had a choice I’d never come back here
Hi Roze - We know it's difficult to wait when you are in pain, and we're sorry to hear that was your experience. We'd very much like to connect with you about this - please email us at your convenience ([email protected]) and let us know the best way to reach you directly. Thank you, and we look forward to speaking with you.
Experiencia fantástica: I just delivered my baby over this weekend. All of new nurses and doctors were an amazing!!!! Almost felt like being with family ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Hi Mariea - Thank you for choosing us for your birthing experience and congratulations on the new addition to your family! We appreciate your kind words and will be sure to pass them along to the team. Get some rest and remember we are always here if you should need us.
Experiencia fantástica: I was transported to the Palomar hospital ER in Escondido on 01/29/24. The Emergency department RNs as well as the on duty Physician, immediately accessed my condition and went to work. I can't thank them enough. They are truly the kindest, most professional group of people that I have ever met.
Hi Michael - Thank you for taking the time to write this! We appreciate your kind words very much, and will share them with the team. We hope all is well with you now!
Experiencia negativa: The owners really out here charging to park at the hospital. Having to wait hours just to be seen Ofcourse they will be making a killing . They probably charge their own employees too. There seemed to be a disconnect in their communication between departments. They had called my sister multiple time to go in but she was already in a different waiting room. We saw this happen with multiple patients. Made me uneasy , how are they tracking any patients ??? Are they understaffed? I don’t blame any of the people actually trying to help but those up top. Do better.
Hi Stephanie - We're sorry to hear you experienced communication challenges here. One of our goals is to communicate consistently and very well, and it sounds like we didn't meet your expectations (or our own) regarding that. Thank you for letting us know, and we'd welcome the opportunity to connect with you if you'd like to share more about this. You can reach us at [email protected] and let us know how to get in touch with you directly.Regarding parking, our team is aware and having conversations regarding the parking challenges folks are sharing with us. There is some free parking available in our uncovered lots - please check and follow signage in these areas.Thank you again for taking the time to let us know about this, and we look forward to connecting with you if you'd like!
Experiencia negativa: I'm from out of state. I gave them three insurances and they were all put into the computer without a PEEP from the lady to say that they were not accepted. Had I KNOWN they would not have accepted my insurances, I would have not sought treatment there. I then received a $3,500+ bill in the mail, called customer service who "transferred" me to billing which was just a disconnected line. Amazing.
Hi Kanaja - We are so sorry to hear this was your experience and that you were unable to find assistance when you called. Thank you for letting us know! We have passed this along to the appropriate department and you should be hearing from them in the next 24-48 hours. If there is anything else you need, please don't hesitate to email us at [email protected] and we will get back to you!
Experiencia negativa: I wish I could give this place zero stars. It's amazing that my mother is still alive after this hot mess they call a hospital. My mother came here because of high blood pressure (nearly double the normal range) and dizziness. She was left waiting for hours. She asked the front desk about a status and told them she felt really ill, and they responded by checking her blood pressure. HER BLOOD PRESSURE WAS SO HIGH, IT WOULDN'T REGISTER ON THE MACHINE. Amazingly, she was SENT BACK to the waiting room. 30 minutes later, they took her back to the overflow beds in the hallway. They took her blood pressure again, and it was still high, but at least it registered. Hours later, she got an MRI, and the doctor told her she had a sinus infection. She was sent home with antibiotics despite having no symptoms of an infection and still having high blood pressure. Over a month later, her primary care doctor wants to schedule some follow-up imagining for the "stroke" she had. TURNS OUT SHE HAD A STROKE AND THEY DIDN'T TELL HER!!!! Nothing in her discharge paperwork said this as well. How does this happen?? Incompetence at best, negligence at worst. DO NOT GO HERE!
Dear Amanda - This is dismaying to hear, and we would very much like to follow up with you and find out more. At your convenience, please reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know how to reach you directly. We hope your mother is doing well now, and we look forward to speaking with you. Thank you.

Experiencia negativa: Rude medical staff and completely ignored my Aunt’s pain and would not listen to her when something was wrong.
This is dismaying to hear, and absolutely NOT the kind of experience we want anyone to have here at Palomar Health. We are committed to providing the best possible care and service to the community and everyone in it. Please accept our apology for your experience, and please reach out to us at [email protected] so we may follow up directly. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Experiencia negativa: Update I read owners response, to my original post. My guess is you simply replied for more Google content review word space. Ok, well perhaps reread my original text below. As It answered your question. Perhaps meaning initially, the review it was not throughly reviewed to begin with. That’s what I, and several pts have been eluding too. Stop think about it with critical thinking. Unless you simply have new less well educated: tech support, marketing or HR staffers doing the reviews. Is that smart? No one initially desires to write bad reviews, pts hope for a safe, respectful, caring visit to the hospital. Maybe it was missed that I never was a pt, only looking for those mentioned qualities in a hospital, so I’ll repeat myself: I chose not to select Palomar Medical Center based strictly on 900 most bad ,reviews. Why bother, most wouldn’t visit, with those reviews, unless the ambulance routed them here. After decades of working in hospitals occasionally being a pt, and we’ll just given my age, to name a few, I know that such issues: begin and end with management. Always every time period. Bad employees are naturally weeded out thru their own attrition. It’s always management. So what I’m saying is this is we’re the problem begins and ends. I trust that is clear. Registered Nurses run hospitals, not the docs, not formerly hands on managers but RNs. It is they who spends 12 hrs a day caring for pts . But they burn out from no breaks, toxic management, short staffing, I mean is there a nurses lounge with food, even snacks? There’s a docs lounge and there simply contracted help, not full time again,,, 12 hrs a day commited staff. Times have changed, ask yourselves in, “Have we?” Docs don’t bring the it’s to you, pts do, and they don’t return if you suck. Refer to the star ⭐️ level of reviews, in treating folks lives. I could go one and on, but I have bigger fish to fry. And have volunteered way more time than I should. Your welcome. I sincerely hope management mentality can change, we need better health care Walter Cronkite said about the American Healthcare System: “The American Healthcare System, is not American, healthy, caring, and certainly not a system.” Be he is old school , well like I and highly doubtful you know who he is or what the word service truly means. Yep, the truth is hard to swallow, remeber it takes several mistakes to get it right, Simon Biles did not become great half as*ing it, nor will you. Wishing you change, growth, truth, amends in the coming years. Original post: I need medical care, but after reading the reviews, and being in health care for years, thus I think I am able to read between the lines of informed-Reviewers vs uninformed-Reviewers. I will be avoiding Palomar Medical Center Escondido like the plague. Thank you for the reviews. My search continues elsewhere. But hey, as long as the board members are cashing in, perhaps that is all that matters? Hint, pay staff better, treat them better, lessen their pt load equals they treat pts better. But hey what do I know after 37 yrs in the field?

Experiencia negativa: After taking some tests, I was told to stay the course. Staying hadn't worked so far and painful symptoms were persisting. I was hoping for some relief but didn't get any. Your mileage may vary.
Dear Larry - Palomar Health does offer a free Nurse Advice Line to the community, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week - this may be a helpful resource for you. Experiencia fantástica: Makram Sedrak is phenomenal. He noticed a door was propped open in the back where not only AC was being wasted but a intruder could have accessed the facility. Also he makes sure the two people per room rules are honored. One last note he is a pleasure to converse!.
Dear Doug – Thank you for taking the time to write this!
Experiencia fantástica: Mj n Heather in trauma are the best accommodating and patient . Made my time more pleasant e en tho I was in so much pain. There were a couple not well trained nurses and slightly rude as well but I like to stay positive.
Hi Andja - Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. Please know that we will pass your feedback along! Experiencia negativa: I had a surgery in March. Probably I should not complain about Dr.Cizmar’s medical team. They were all very kind. But I had to wait for over 2hours after my appointment which I should not complain. There are other patients who need to be taken care. However I had to dehydrate over 14 hrs. I wish the lady who called me a night before would tell me I actually had to stop drinking water for certain hours before surgery. Only she said after midnight. It was horrible. After the surgery, I had to visit Dr. Cizmar’s office for follow up however, a whole network system was shutdown over 2 months, so I couldn't reach out to the office by myself I just had to wish they would call me for an appointment, otherwise I had to visit to the office for the questions or about my appointment. So these are all about their systems. I don’t complain anything about medical team who took care of me. Well, the worst part was billing department. After my surgery l had an invoice that is not affordable with our income, so I applied financial assistance. They denied because of based on my income of last year. They didn’t consider any of my monthly expenses or my upcoming chemotherapy which dr. Cizmar sent order. They just kept telling me “based on your income last year” like a robot. Ok, I had another medical bills that I was sent to ER at Tricity hospital twice. I provided almost same documentations and they gave me a decent discount. I was also billed by the Anesthesiologist who worked for this surgery. I applied also financial assistance even though amount was not as high as this invoice. I could write down why this is financial hardship, then they gave me discount too. Only Palomar don’t care about patients’ financial hardship if we made certain amount of money last year! It is like “we gave you medical service so we don’t care if you have financial hardship or not, and you may have bankruptcy haha!” Only my choice would be install agreement $170/month. I don’t know about you, but people like me, $170 extra monthly expense is huge. I explained to them, after their surgery, Dr. Cizmar sent me to oncologist at UCSD and had to have another surgery, I have to take leave of absence. I currently don’t get any income. They still don’t care. If you can choose different hospitals , don’t go to Palomar hospital!.
Hi Miyako - I reached out to our billing department and they let me know they had connected with you just now. Thank you for letting us know about this, and we're so sorry for the added stress and frustration you experienced. Please don't ever hesitate to reach out to us in the future - you can reach the billing department at the email address that was shared with you earlier, or you can reach us at [email protected]. Please accept our good wishes for your continued healing and good health. We are always here if you should need us.
Experiencia negativa: After coming in and already not feeling well with sharp pains in my abdomen,I did not eat for over 24 hours because they had to run test. 24 HOURS! they didn’t seem urgent to get anything done and I was absolutely miserable. I wasn’t allowed water only ice chips one time. After being here for a full 22+ hours I was given no answers. When I expressed my discomfort to the nurse she said “I’ll go talk to your nurse” then went back to chatting with her coworkers and never came back. I felt like I was not a priority and I would have been better off not coming.

If you'd like to, please email us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you. We were recently made aware of an issue that prevented us from receiving emails from that address, but we've been assured it's resolved now. Please don't ever hesitate to seek emergency care any time you feel you are experiencing a life- or limb-threatening emergency. Palomar Health also provides a no-cost Nurse Advice Line to our community - you can reach them 24 hours a day at 1-877-747-6411.
Experiencia negativa: Despite the negative reviews, I went to Palomar Hospital - Escondido for my first OB-GYN visit. After numerous phone follow-ups, my appointment was scheduled with Dr. Kenesha Colson - 08/22/2024, but I received no reminders. On the day, we were shuffled between buildings—2185, 2125, and finally 1955. We were 25 minutes late and they refused to see us. They claimed they hadn’t had access to phones or emails since May due to a cyber attack (not the recent CrowdStrike one, who knows what else) and their systems were still down. If a hospital of their size can’t get back online in months, they shouldn’t handle sensitive patient records. And if they can’t accommodate a 30-minute delay caused by their own mistakes, they don’t deserve to be in the hospital business. I told them I’d never return. BEWARE, THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!
Hi Sivaraj - We're sorry to hear your visit did not go as you expected it to, and we'd like to follow up with you. At your convenience, please reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you directly. Regardless of whether or not you ultimately choose to receive care at Palomar Health in the future, it's important to us that we resolve this with you and provide any assistance we can. Thank you for letting us know, and we look forward to speaking with you.
Experiencia fantástica: I got a very kind call from a police officer called and told me my 95 year old mom had fallen and was taken to Palomar ER. Upon arrival the security scan was nice and respectful and front desk efficient. My mom was in a gurney in back along with many other people lined up but the nurses were efficient although admittedly under staffed and told me so…If I had not been there to advocate to get my mom to the toilet it would have been lousy, but they were truly doing the best they could. The doctor we had was very compassionate and I heard another doc with the same bedside manner with an interpreter. I witnessed a guy who came in drunk who had been in a fight and He got the same care as my mom, no judgement. They even gave him a shirt to wear home because his shirt was sliced apart. I worked at a Harvard teaching hospital in Boston in administration and the ER is always an issue for waiting…patients tend to have unrealistic expectations of being the most pressing case. While not ideal to keep gurneys lined up, it’s not untypical and most importantly it’s the care that matters and from all accounts my mother received kind compassionate care. Give Palomar a chance they have excellent doctors, just keep in mind they have traumas they are dealing with that may be more life threatening …

Experiencia fantástica: The facility is state of the art and the staff is excellent. Everyone from front desk to therapists are friendly, professional and courteous. I always feel safe and comfortable. The therapists are very encouraging while also keenly aware of your limitations.
Hi Glenn - Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. We agree that our team is fantastic, and we'll be sure to pass your feedback along to them!
Experiencia positiva: I drove myself to the emergency room on Sunday September 1st at 1pm due to a knee injury and it hurt so much to put weight on it. I know you have to pay for parking in the new structure which I did. Hoped to find transport there to bring me to the entrance. Not! The staff and treatment was all good - even though I was in there for 6-1/2 hours. I left with a knee brace and crutches and a follow up with orthopedic surgeon. I was taken by wheelchair to the exit and I asked if he could bring me to my car. He said he couldn’t but would drop me off at the crosswalk, which he did leaving me with a purse, a folder of paperwork, with a knee brace and on crutches to get back to my car on my own. Really?? By the time I got to my car there were tears running down my face because of the pain I was in. I sat in my car for about 20 minutes until the pain subsided enough to drive home. We have to pay for parking so why isn’t there someone on the payroll, or a volunteer, to drive people to the entrance and/or back to their car? There were carts in the parking garage, but no one to operate. I can’t be the only person that sees a problem with this. This was absolutely ridiculous! Something has to be done.

Experiencia negativa: Where do I start? I am my parent's long distance caregiver. My mom passed out and had a fall and got a cut on the back of her head. My dad called 911 and for some reason, even though my mom has Kaiser insurance, the ambulance driver took her to Palomar. Unfortunately I was notified after they were on their way. Palomar accepts Kaiser for emergency room visits but not for overnight stays. The doctor wanted to have my mom transferred to a Kaiser hospital so that her insurance would cover the overnight stay and they could observe her overnight. My mom is 88 and has advanced Alzheimer's, as well as severe aortic stenosis which is probably what caused her to faint. She was admitted to the emergency room about 10:30 am and by 3 pm I started calling to see when she would be transferred to a Kaiser hospital. I spoke with a doctor who didn't have a clue when they could get her a bed at Kaiser. I called 5 times to talk to her nurse and never got a call back. Finally at about 7:30 pm after a shift change, a new nurse called me back. She said she knew nothing about getting my mom transferred to Kaiser. That is when I lost it and asked to speak to a supervisor. The nurse supervisor said that it's possible my mom might be moved very late in the evening and it was beyond her control when it would happen. So someone up the line at this hospital thinks it's okay to move an elderly person with dementia in the middle of the night to another hospital when they are already confused about they're there in the first place?! I must say that once the change in nursing staff happened at about 7 pm, the night nurse and supervisor were very responsive, and called me back right away and within an hour of speaking with them, they called and said they were able to arrange to get my mom a room at Kaiser and transport her over by 9 pm. At least something finally went right! Easier in the day, my brother visited my mom at Palomar about 2 1/2 hours after my mom was admitted. When he got there he said she was starving and they told him that they couldn't give her anything to eat until they talked to the doctor in case she had to go into surgery. They didn't even clean up her head wound — it was still bloody and a mess. When my brother started to pressure the nurses as to when a doctor could see her, they were rude and started yelling at him saying things like leave us alone, can't you see how busy we are here? Someone needs to apply some correction to the day nurses at this hospital! The whole situation was just frustrating and sad.

Experiencia negativa: In regards to Labor and delivery department, changed my induction date further out more than once, didn’t care what my OB doctor recommended!, maybe they wanted me to end up getting a C-section you know since they get paid more for that !
Dear Veronica – Please know that the health and well-being of our patients is always our top priority, and we are sorry to hear your experience did not go as you expected it to. One of our goals is to communicate consistently and very well, and we appreciate you letting us know that communication was not as clear as it could have or should have been. Experiencia negativa: Cyber issues have caused issues with scheduling and lab work. the results from recent lab work were inadequate with no specific markers listed...almost useless. Time to find another provider.
Dear Joe - It sounds like your review is for Palomar Health Medical Group (PHMG) – they have been experiencing telephone and computer issues. We understand the frustration in this situation and will pass your comments along to them; please know the team is doing all they can to get things up and running as quickly and safely as possible and is estimating that will happen within the 7-10 days (including scheduling and lab results!). If you need us at the hospital, our telephones and other systems are functioning at 100% - you can reach the Escondido hospital campus at 442-281-5000 if you need us. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your concerns, and we appreciate your patience.
Experiencia fantástica: The staff are kind and care about their patients. They are challenging but do not push me to go beyond what I can tolerate. I feel I have made some definite improvements.
Dear Ann – Thank you for taking the time to write this! We agree, our staff are fantastic…we’re so glad to hear you’re doing well and will pass your feedback along to the team!
Experiencia negativa: Two weeks ago my sister in law had emergency surgery for gallstones. A week later she goes to her surgeon for the follow up visit with a fever (usually sign of infection) and pain, the surgeon orders bloodwork and Xrays at Palomar Hospital. Why Palomar hospital is a good question. A week later and several voicemail, she is still waiting for an appointment for her Xrays. The surgeon staff answer: keep calling every couple of hours until you get the appointment
Dear Phillipe – Thank you for taking the time to let us know about this, and we apologize for the delay. If your sister-in-law is still having challenges, please ask her to reach out to us right away at [email protected] – we will help any way we can! Palomar Health also provides a free Nurse Advice Line to our community 24 hours a day – they can be reached at 1-877-747-6411 for any clinical questions.
Experiencia negativa: Picked up patient at 1:00 am from emergency room. Went to pharmacy at 9:00 am. No script. Patient called Palomar. Returned to pharmacy at 11:00 am. No script. Went back to Palomar emergency room at 11:30 am. Went to hospital pharmacy. Still waiting for script. What is going on with the mandatory electronic system?
We are sorry to hear about the challenges you’re describing. If this is still an issue, please reach out to us right away at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you; we will reply timely and assist in any way we can. Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: Case Management seems non-existent here; on hold, Case Mgt hangs up on me. No Dr referral to Home Health despite being promised, guess they want patient to die of blood clots at home. Aunt had fractured pelvis but she never spoke with an Ortho, was released home by an Internist she never saw. Frightening.
This is dismaying to hear, and is absolutely not the kind of experience we want people to have at Palomar Health. We would very much like to follow up with you – please reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you directly. Thank you for letting us know about this, and we look forward to speaking with you and providing any assistance or support we can.
Experiencia negativa: A monstrosity of a building and a behemoth amount of problems!! 1 ultrasound tech for an entire building (including labor/delivery), horrible staff that don't think twice about lying to your face, and zero regard for your wellbeing. If you have to come here, I feel sorry for you. Don't only expect to be here 4 hours, expect to sit in pain, not be helped, find zero answers, and be attended to by immature and incompetent staff who get offended by your being frustrated that you've been in pain for hours!! This is by far one of the worst hospitals I've ever had to go to for help. In addition, they CHARGE you to PARK!?? I highly suggest you avoid the headaches this place causes, DO NOT DELIVER your child here, and if you can help it, go a little further south or get Kiaser insurance.
Dear Tammy – Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience, and please know our leaders read every comment and review and take feedback very seriously. We would welcome the opportunity to connect with you, follow up, and provide assistance. May we ask you to please reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you directly? We are very sorry to hear your experience did not go as you expected it to, and we look forward to speaking with you at your convenience.
Experiencia negativa: My husband had surgery here recently and I was displeased with the staff interfacing with family in the lobby. Poor communication and misunderstandings. It was uncomfortable and when you have a family member in surgery, communication with medical staff is the biggest deal.
Dear Renee – We are sorry to hear this, as it’s not the kind of experience we want anyone in our community to have with Palomar Health. We’d appreciate the opportunity to follow up with you about this. We were very recently made aware of an issue that interfered with us receiving some emails, but we’ve been assured that issue has been resolved. Please email us at [email protected] and let us know how to reach you directly. Thank you for letting us know, and please accept our best wishes for your husband’s continued good health.
Experiencia negativa: The staff didn’t let me go back with the patient (my boyfriend) when he came in for an emergency. They made me wait in the front waiting room for over 2 hours and made the PATIENT ask the staff to allow me to go back with the patient in the other waiting area. When I was finally allowed to join the patient in the other waiting area there were other patients and THEIR FAMILIES already there. So why not allow me a family member to go back with the patient for over 2 hours? Disrespectful. We have been here for hours and he still has not been seen yet for the emergency.
Dear Margaux – Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience, and please know we take feedback very seriously. We would welcome the opportunity to connect with you, may we ask you to please reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you directly? We are very sorry to hear your experience did not meet expectations, and we look forward to speaking with you at your convenience.
Experiencia negativa: The lack of timely treatment at this emergency room is deplorable. My mother was admitted here at approximately 3:00am June, 2024 for a fall resulting in multiple deep skin tears over her entire body, some to the bone on her knees, two black eyes from hitting her head and Covid positive. I was not notified until a little after 7:00am. She was not admitted to a room for treatment until 6:15pm that night. She was denied water or ice chips that entire time though ct scans and xrays confirmed she did not need surgery nor had internal injuries. She was left thrashing in pain and severe thirst the entire time despite my multiple requests for assistance . It is criminal how patients are neglected at this hospital emergency center.
This is dismaying to hear, and is absolutely not the kind of experience we want anyone to have at Palomar Health. We very much would like to follow up on our end as well as following up with you – may we ask you to please reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you directly? Thank you for bringing this to our attention; we apologize for your mother’s experience and sincerely hope she is doing well now. We look forward to connecting with you in the near future.
Experiencia negativa: Calling multiple people at once and herding us like cattle into another waiting room, where we would all sit for hours was miserable. I was diagnosed with acute gallstones, an UTI, Fibroids, and diverticulitis and needless to say was in significant pain and sitting in a chair for eight hours was awful. While the staff was kind and the facility was clean it is apparent that the patient’s comfort was overlooked. When people are in pain they lay down. They don’t sit in chairs. Honestly it’s cruel. I heard a woman in agonizing pain begging for a bed. While my pain was not agonizing, it was significant and I did not have the mental strength to battle or beg for a bed, which should have been issued to me from admittance. Thankfully for me I will never visit your facility again as I was just visiting. I feel for the people that have no other option or make the mistake of choosing your facility.
Dear Mandy – Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience, and we apologize that your expectations were not met. We know how difficult it is to wait when you are in pain and not feeling well. We would love to be able to provide a bed for every patient who comes to our emergency department – unfortunately, like many EDs all across the country, when we experience periods of higher volume, we see patients in alternative care spaces, such as chairs and hallways. Our goal is to see every patient as quickly, safely, and comfortably as possible. Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] if you would like to speak with us directly, and we will be happy to do so. Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: The worse hospital ever. I mean this hospital is a complete and utter joke. The doctors are FULLY uneducated. My mother kept correcting him on factual stuff. No wonder they didn’t do my surgery because they would probably botch it. I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to a dying relative. The doctors are just so awful. Met a couple nice techs but this has to be the worse and dirtiest hospital in Cali. Get real and take your job seriously.
Dear Jessica – This is dismaying to hear, and we would like to connect with you as soon as possible to learn more and to help. Please reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to contact you directly. We look forward to following up with you. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: I had an excellent experience with Palomar hospital today everybody was very fast efficient polite kind and wonderful! They were fast courteous and it was the best experience I've ever had at any hospital. I would like to say I have one horrible and rude person that I dealt with her name is Jamie and I'm putting this in here because compared to everybody else it was really bad. She was the person who did my echocardiogram. She was rude when she told me to get undressed left me in there for 20 minutes while she talked to her coworker I watched her through the door. I was laying there waiting for her to come in while she was just shooting the breeze with her co-worker I waited and waited when she did arrive she was not courteous she was not polite she wasn't friendly..... She was very short in her words It was very uncomfortable. Compared to everybody else I think she needs more training. Otherwise was my visit was five stars because of everyone else! she was the only one who would have lowered it. She needs to learn bed side manners and personable skills. It's very sad that one person can be a bad fruit for everybody else. However all your other stuff was amazing!!!!!
Dear Shelley – Thank you so much for your detailed feedback – it’s always helpful to us to know exactly what is working well for our community and also any areas that need our focus. We are so sorry for not meeting your expectations (or our own) related to communication and courtesy from one of our team members. Service is one of our core values, and it’s important to us that we live those values every day. Our leaders read every review and comment we receive, and our goal is always to continue to improve. We’d welcome the opportunity to follow up with you directly if you would like – you can reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you. Thank you again for letting us know, and please accept our best wishes for your good health!
Experiencia negativa: I recently had Back Surgery at this hospital. The day after my Surgery I was transported to another department. The transporter took my Apple Fast charger from the wall & it ended up in the hallway Broken during his Transportation. I talked to the Nurses about it & they couldn’t believe what happened. Thank you Shay the Nurse Aid who found my charger in the hallway Broken. I asked for this to be documented and I was told I would be able to speak with someone on this matter. Several Days went by and it’s finally time for me to Leave. 7/15/24 I talked to Mechelle the Charge Nurse about my charger. We went back and forth about my charger which was uncomfortable for me. Than It GOT WORST. My actual nurse came in my room to get me ready for my discharge, I told my actual Nurse, I don’t have my walker yet, I already talk with the company they’re going to bring it here. Mechelle then butts in and Says” DO YOU EVEN NEED A WALKER.” Let’s Keep in Mind I Just had BACK SURGERY & I have a Bright Wrist Band on that Says FALL RISK. Mechelle and I went back & forth again. She tried to convince me that I don’t need a walker. I can just go home. I felt Rushed. I DID NOT LEAVE THAT HOSPITAL UNTIL I HAD MY WALKER. The way I was treated at this hospital, during my stay, after having Back Surgery is Unacceptable. The Transporter Broke my Apple Fast Charger. Then the Nurse tried to send me home WITHOUT MY WALKER , AFTER having BACK SURGERY. I still can’t believe I had to defend myself. PLEASE BE CAREFUL of this Hospital. I have encountered some good Nurses here but All IT TAKES IS ONE TO ENDANGER YOUR SAFETY. This was my Experience.
Dear Caroline – First and most importantly, we apologize for not meeting your expectations regarding your visit, and thank you for letting us know about it. We hope your concerns have been resolved after speaking with leadership, but if you have other concerns or would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly again. We are continually working to improve the healthcare experience for our community, and feedback – even when it’s difficult for us to hear – helps us to do that. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: Registration and admission was immediate; there was very little waiting. After tests and imaging was completed, the condition was diagnosed and the treatment plan was discussed thoroughly. All of the staff members, from the doctors and nurses to the security and parking attendants, were efficient, professional, and kind. Personally, this was about the best experience I've ever had in an emergency care center.
Thank you, Brian! We agree that our team is fantastic, and we appreciate you taking the time to write this. We’re always here if you need us!
Experiencia fantástica: Muy contenta con el servicio. Me atendieron muy rapido y con mucha cortecia nunca habia durado tan poko tiempo en ER. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hello, thank you for your positive review! We appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback and know that we will always be here if you need us.
Experiencia negativa: Horrible greed, they charge for parking to come and see a sick loved one the whole day is $20. is this Disneyland? another example of why this hospital sucks and is run by greedy pharma pigs and leadership want a bigger check for themselves health care here is a joke don’t go here look at the reviews they speak for themselves, go to Kaiser
Dear Abraham – We would welcome the opportunity to connect with you directly to discuss your concerns. Please email us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: The best hospital to stay at and the best nurses ever been there a couple nights and I am blessed to say they are doing the best job. I’m so glad to experience this type of experience as a patient at Palomar Medical Center, God bless them. I know they remember me, my name is Hector a.k.a Junior. I know they remember me.
Dear Junior – Thank you so much for taking the time to write this! We agree that our team is outstanding, and we’ll be sure to pass your feedback and good wishes along to them. We are always here if you should need us, and hope you’re continuing to do well!
Experiencia negativa: This is regarding the data breach: It is absolutely ridiculous that they are not up and running yet after almost 3 months. I am out of the state and need my medications refilled. I cannot go physically pick up a prescription as they are instructing people to do. YOU KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM before you were hacked and now a countless amount of people cannot get proper medical care. You merged with my medical group that was amazing and turned that office into something I don't even want to deal with anymore. FIX THIS PROBLEM NOW!!!! People are suffering because of your stupidity.
Hi Samantha – Please know our Palomar Health Medical Group (PHMG) team understands the frustration in this situation, and we will pass your comments along to them. The team is doing all they can to get things up and running as quickly and safely as possible; we apologize for the necessary delay. Palomar Health’s free Nurse Advice Line is available to our community (including out of state!) 24/7 at 1-877-747-6411, and of course, if you feel you are experiencing a life or limb-threatening emergency, please call 911 right away.
Experiencia negativa: Palomar medical center almost killed my grandmother. She has dementia and was admitted because of worries of a stroke. However, after being admitted they decided to test her ability to swallow after she was sundowning. They then decided that she was incapable and put her on a no-food diet. The IV drip they connected was in her hand, not in her vein. 5 days later, she had not received a bite of food, only being tested after she was not lucid past what should’ve been dinner. My mother fed her applesauce just fine when she visited, so they decided to put her on a soft food diet. They then proceeded to bring in regular food, realize their mistake, and give her no food once again. What should’ve been a day or 2 admittance, has turned into irreversible damage on a woman who was physically in an ok condition before.
Dear Jennifer – This is dismaying to hear. It is very important to us to follow up on your concerns right away – would you please send us an email at [email protected] and let us know the best way to reach you directly? Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: Decent treatment but follow up leaves A LOT to be desired. I needed my medical records transferred after my release. Called back a couple days later and my completed forms for this NEVER made it to medical records. Redid it online and request was expedited. Still nothing. Called back. Email did not go through. They then resent to the same email address and it magically went through. I still need to check with my doctor whether it all really went through. This medical record transfer is very time sensitive for the patient, but apparently doing it right is not a priority for palomar. If you want your records and images transferred, you should definitely follow up repeatedly to make sure it actually happened. (Updated) News flash. When I did check back in some of my data was transferred. I submitted requests for the two facilities where I was treated and they thought they were duplicates with clearly different dates and locations. Unbelievable. After 4 days of doing this, the transfer of all the medical records relevant to my rather serious injuries are not yet complete. (Update). It’s now the following Monday. On the phone with my orthopedic doctor. He can access the links from palomar, see the reports but is unable to access any images. Again - Palomar fails to deliver. I give up. Time to get more X-rays.
Dear Geoffrey – This is dismaying to hear, and we apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please email us at [email protected] with more information, if you would, and we will respond and follow up with you. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know – our goal is to always be improving, and hearing from our community helps us to do that. Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: I know the medical field is short, but damn can we take care of people like they matter? This is a horrible ER to go to. Each time my mom was taken to this ER she was evaluated in a hallway with other patients lined up on a wall. Where does HIPPA exists in this scenario? The U.S. standard of care is substandard, there is no standard. We have the healthcare of a third world country, but the health insurance companies and some medical staff are paid like they deliver first rate care... I think not. I've worked in an ER before and we were always short staff, but we never compromised patient care. This hospital should be shut down until it can rise to the standards of treating people with basic humanity. Their outpatient care sucks too. The cardiology department can't handle the patients they accept and don't care to keep their word to call you to schedule appointments when you can't reach them because the Palomar system has been down since May. For real though??? Why does this exist as a service when there's no service rendered at all?
Dear Atiya – We are sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations and understand the frustration that comes with feeling like you are not a priority - this is not the kind of experience we want people to have at Palomar Health. We would welcome the opportunity to connect with you and resolve this. Please email us at [email protected] and let us know how to contact you directly. We will also forward your concerns to Palomar Health Medical Group (PHMG), who runs the cardiology office. Thank you for taking the time letting us know, and we look forward to connecting with you.
Experiencia negativa: I recently got hurt while my parents were out of town, and my babysitter took me to the hospital, intending to go to urgent care. But instead, we were directed to the ER for what turned out to be a torn muscle. I was in pain and couldn't walk, but that wasn’t even the worst part. The ER was PACKED with people, some sitting in chairs, others lining the hallway. The doctors were conducting blood tests right there in the hall, which felt incredibly unprofessional. When the nurse evaluated me, I clearly stated that my THIGH was injured and he acknowledged it and entered it into his computer. Despite this, I ended up waiting for five hours just to figure out what was wrong with me. Some people had been waiting even longer. When they finally called me in, they took an X-ray, which confused me because none of my bones were injured. Then, they told me my knee was fine. I was shocked – I had waited five hours for them to check the wrong thing! I reiterated that it was my thigh that was hurt, just as I had told the nurse earlier. They brushed it off, handed me crutches, and sent me on my way. I could’ve gotten crutches anywhere. Now, I have to deal with upset parents and a hefty bill, all because of the staff's irresponsibility and mistakes. For an unnecessary X-ray? I feel incredibly guilty about the financial burden this has caused.
Dear Caroline – One of our goals is to communicate clearly and consistently about our processes in general and our care for each individual patient; we are sorry for not meeting your expectations (or our own, quite frankly) in this area. There are times when some aspects of patient care are provided in alternative care spaces (such as hallways and interior waiting areas) with patient consent, as it is important to us to provide the safest and most expedited care possible, even in times when our census may be high. If you would, please reach out to us directly via email at [email protected] – we would like to follow up with you. Thank you for letting us know.
Experiencia positiva: June 12, 2024 - I feel inclined to change my prior review solely because of the staff at Dr. Patel's office. From nurse Rafael who took the time to make sure I was seen, to Claire the X-ray technician to Dr. Patel himself - this is actually quite an amazing team and a true asset to Palomar Medical Center. ---------- At 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday June 5th I entered the orthopedics office to have my cast removed. I called 3 times last week and left a message with the answering service but I never received a call back. Then last night I noticed there was a voicemail on my phone that was left on Friday (although my phone never rang) that my only option was to walk in. When I arrived at the orthopedics office I went straight up to the desk and spoke with a Hispanic receptionist who told me I was going to have to wait until the staff got back from lunch. I politely and specifically asked her "do you think they will see me right at 1:00 because I have to get back to work?" To which she replied yes. So I sat in the waiting room and I waited until 1:05 p.m. when she called me back up and told me I could be seen tomorrow morning. I asked her why I had to wait half an hour just to set an appointment when she told me I could be seen right at 1? The reception then raised her voice to tell me that the technicians had been at lunch. I teared up and told her I can't come back tomorrow, I feel like just taking the cast off by myself. She replied "you're going to hurt yourself but I'll put a note on here that you're taking it off" I said no, I would have to miss work I have no choice. So she scheduled the appointment and I walked out. I have have been a patient of Palomar hospital since I can remember. I am surprised that this woman was so rude to me and even embarrassed me in front of the entire waiting room while Palomar hospital is so focused on their data breach that my well being has been put on the back burner. I've had this cast on my arm for almost a month now and over the last few days the muscles in my arm have been cramping severely. After the way Palomar has dealt with this data breach that has affected so many lives and now my experience with the extremely rude receptionist this afternoon, if I had any other choice I would never return to Palomar again.
Dear Heidi – This is dismaying to hear, and we are so sorry we did not meet your expectations (or our own, quite frankly). Our core values, including service and compassion, are important to us – thank you for taking the time to let us know about this. We will also forward your concerns to Palomar Health Medical Group (PHMG), who runs the orthopedics office. We would very much like to follow up on our end, as well. May we ask you to please reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know how to get in touch with you directly? That email address is fully functional and we are committed to responding timely. Thank you.
Experiencia positiva: Day three of elevator issues. Elevators don't respond to call to go down. You wait forever and no elevator. You have to catch an up elevator to go down. Besides that, my father has been in and out of this hospital multiple times. I am disappointed in the treatment he has received. It seems there is a disconnect between what the doctor says, what is written in the computer system, and what the nurses know, or were told. And this is not a one time incident so there is a problem with their system and procedures.
Dear Larry – Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience, and please know we share your frustrations with the elevators at the moment! In regards to your other comments, we would welcome the opportunity to resolve this with you. Would you please reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know the best way to contact you directly? Feedback is important to us and we take it very seriously. Please accept our best wishes for your father’s health, and thank you again.
Experiencia negativa: I checked in with a horrible nose bleed and people who checked in after me with visible problems were being called before me. No one ever came by in the 2 hours I was waiting to check on me .
Dear Michael – One of our goals is to communicate consistently and very well, and we apologize for not meeting your expectations in that area (and our own). We know it is difficult to wait when you are not feeling well, and we appreciate you sharing this with us. Thank you.
Experiencia positiva: 3rd time was a charm. 3 times in 3 weeks rushed to er by ambulance. It took that many times to recognize I needed 2 surgeries and icu. I'd you are sent home and you know something isn't OK. Go Back,! Until someone figures it out. Mine... Covid vaccine complications. Over 40 blood clots. DVT HEART FALURE. 99% Were very caring. The dogs had humor and smarts. The food served is far from healthy! Gmo. Bin organic. Greasy starchy. Fruit was not ripe. Had to have fresh brought in. Kale smoothies. Fresh fruit vine ripe. Many went out of their way to make me comfortable. Then asked if I was well enough to go home. Within hours they were overcrowded!!! Thank you for helping me get better. My family thanks you also! Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience! We appreciate your trust in us, and are always here if you should need anything.
Experiencia fantástica: Day after my colonoscopy (in Mammoth Lakes), I ended up with a bowel perforation while I was back in San Diego. I ended up in ED, Escondido and was very thankful to have Dr. Jennifer Ottino as my general surgeons. She held surgery as a last resort. instead, she recommended on keeping on NPO and IV only in hopes of healing the perforation without surgery. During my 4 day stay in Medsurg, she visited me several times a day. Dr. Jennifer Otino is an exemplary general surgeon who has truly earned my admiration and gratitude. From the moment I was transferred under her care, I felt reassured by her warmth and professionalism. She took the time to thoroughly explain my condition and the proposed treatment plan, answering all my questions with patience and clarity. I felt completely at ease knowing I was in capable hands. She was attentive and supportive throughout my recovery, ensuring that I had everything I needed for a smooth healing process. Thanks to her expertise and compassionate care, I am now on the road to recovery with renewed confidence in my health. Thank you Dr. Ottino.
Hi Andrew. We are happy to hear that you are recovering well! Thank you for the positive review of Dr. Ottino – who, we agree, is outstanding. We appreciate you taking the time to write this thoughtful review, and we will make sure our team hears your feedback! Please know we are always here if you need us.
Experiencia negativa: Grandmother passed away here. We couldn't get a priest we knew in time, so the hospice nurse / chaplain brought in one (idk if he's hospital staff priest or just someone they knew ? ). The priest had one airpod in during the whole time he was reciting my grandmother's last rites. He even had a book he was reading off of so I have no idea why he had to have an airpod in the whole time it's not like he was listening to an audio book of telling him what to say. I found it extremely disrespectful. The priest was average height, black, and had an accent.
Dear Xerxes – Please accept our deep condolences on the loss of your grandmother. We are dismayed to hear about your experience, and would like to look into it from our end. May we ask you please to reach out to us at [email protected] and let us know how to get in touch with you directly? We take matters such as this very seriously, and it is important to us to resolve it.
Experiencia negativa: It is the worse place to go to see a Dr. Staff are very rude and they argue with you. While you are sick and need to be take care. I talked to the RN and I said I am here for hours and then she said there are paint that are important than you and when I said I have COVID-19 she said you are not gonna die from COVID-19. Too Rude. I checked in about 4 hours in emergency haven't seen a Dr yet. !!!!I wish there was no start then definitely I would selected that one.
Dear Mina – We apologize that your expectations were not met – that is not the kind of experience we want people to have at Palomar Health! We would welcome the opportunity to follow up and to resolve this with you. If you would, please email us at [email protected] and let us know how to get in touch with you directly. Thank you for taking the time to let us know.
Experiencia negativa: I have no words.. my mom is 86 years old with dementia and hade a hip replacement surgery. on April 20th. Post op my mother inquired about her earnings and necklace and we were told they were put in the safe, when asked to have them they couldn’t be found. On an X-ray you can see my mom’s earrings so we know that there is proof that they were on her but the hospital is still “looking” for her jewelry My mother was moved to The Palomar Rehabilitation Center and I was told that the surgeons office will call to schedule an appointment to remove her staples in 10-14 days. They still haven’t called and it’s been 3 weeks, when I tried to schedule an appointment they let me know that it could take up to 7 days to call back because their system was down and they had no access to her records. This sort of treatment has left me angry and in disbelief due to the amount of stress it is causing my mother. It’s been very difficult to explain to her where her jewelry is and it has been affecting her blood pressure.
Experiencia negativa: I’m currently in Palomar. Came in complaining of Chest pains and shortness of Breath. I was put in a chair and moved through a few Triage areas. Someone finally realized I was in Rapid A fib ( heart condition) and got a bed after 2 hours.Waited almost all day and finally got admitted to upstairs . They took away food and water for a procedure in the morning. Well , kept getting put off .. delay and then some .. the procedure wasn’t til 2-3pm , meanwhile Im starving. Don’t know what they did to me during a “basic” procedure but woke up WITH EXCRUCIATING back pain . I tell the nurse and she was gonna to give me Tylenol / LEVEL8-9 back pain and I’m gonna get Tylenol. So they mention Dilaudid , which I’m pretty sure they never gave / once back upstairs Nurse confirmed they cancelled the Dilaudid. So I’m still sitting here in crazy back Pain as they try to “figure out what’s going on”!? Their Motto around here , I’ve heard it at least 30 times. Hopefully get to update this as it goes … Finally got some pain meds but still not an explanation of why my back hurts so bad. Put me on Percocet, Morphine and Toradol to get it manageable. If you’re on that many pain meds for BACK after a “heart” procedure I’m gonna guess it went VERY wrong .
Dear Dan – This is dismaying to hear, and is certainly not the kind of experience we ever want someone to have at Palomar Health. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about it. If you have concerns about your procedure, we encourage you to speak with your care team. You are also always welcome to get in touch with us directly at [email protected] – we would welcome the opportunity to resolve this with you. Thank you again and please accept our best wishes for your continued good health.
Experiencia negativa: Avoid this hospital! Family member with neurological condition preventing his ability to walk without a walker, fell & broke his ankle along with 3 fractures in his vertebrae. Non-Weight-Bearing-for-Two Weeks, would require skilled nursing until a walking boot can be utilized after two weeks. Dr. Stephen Dunphy recommended discharge to home due to his "young age" and should just use a crutches. How does someone with a walking disability balance themselves on one leg with a walker/crutches. Incompetent Care! Edited to add: Family member is now back in the Hospital with a L-1 fracture due to a fall! This all could have been avoided had Dr. Stephen Dunphy shown some compassion and advocated for Skilled Nursing. Dr. Dunphy's diagnostic abilities are severely lacking which have resulted in additional injuries. Edited to add: Notice the "response from the owner" I have reached out twice and emailed my contact information. Have they responded....NO! Their lack of response shows they really don't care, it's all an empty show just like their medical care.
We have checked our emails and do not see one that matches your concern. We very much want to connect with you and follow up, and apologize for this delay! Please try again – [email protected], or you can leave a voicemail for our Service Excellence team if you’d prefer – 760-740-6345. Thank you for letting us know you’ve not heard from us! We look forward to speaking with you. This is dismaying to hear, and not the kind of experience we want anyone to have at Palomar Health. Please email us at [email protected] and let us know how to get in touch with you or your family member directly – it’s important to us to follow up on our end, and ideally to resolve this with you, as well. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about this, and we look forward to connecting with you.
Experiencia negativa: So many issues. Got a quote for medical procedure, then got charged 10 times that amount. They would not budge on the price. Below is a reply to reach out to them, but I did multiple times when it happened. No one would budge on the amount and said in the quote that it states it was only a estimate and didn't include all costs. Trust me I fought this for nearly two years but ended up being denied any adjustments, I have all the emails. Pretty sure there's actually a federal law against suprise bills like this that are way out of line.
It sounds like your review may be for Palomar Health Medical Group (PHMG) rather than for Palomar Hospital, but thank you regardless for bringing your billing concern to our attention. If your review is for PHMG, you can reach out to them directly by phone at 760-291-6961. If your review is related to Palomar Health services, please email us at [email protected] and let us know how to get in touch with you directly – we would welcome the opportunity to resolve this with you. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: I just want to say, my 98yr old papa was here in 6west and I delt with mostly nurse Juliana for 3 days in a row on day shift and all I have to say is she is an absolute god sent. She was extremly polite and patience and extremely caring. The hospital was very clean and seemed to be very well staffed so the patience to nurse ratio was low which is nice. The security was very attentive and did a good job by the looks of it. For all that I experienced, I was very very happy. Thank you so much
Hi! Thank you for sharing this with us…we agree that our team is outstanding! We’ll be sure to pass your feedback along to Juliana and to the 6W manager, as well as to our security and housekeeping folks. We hope all is well with your Papa, and please know we are always here if you should need us. Thank you again!
Experiencia fantástica: Had a great experience here nurses and doctors are very helpful and nice. My daughter was in the nicu for over 2 weeks and all the nurse that took care of her was so sweet and are helpful. I also stayed for a few days before i deliver my daughter and dint have any issue with the service.
Hi Angela – Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about your experience, and congratulations on the new addition to your family! We agree that our team is fantastic, and we’ll be sure to pass your feedback along to them. Please know we are always here if you should need anything, and we hope you and your daughter are both doing well. Thank you again!
Experiencia fantástica: I woke up with a swelling on my jaw. I’m visiting my sister in Escondido so I went to this hospital for treatment. It’s set up is different that other hospital emergency rooms but it turned out to be very useful and I understand why the set up is so unique. I like it a lot. The first visit was longer but expected. The doctors the first visit were so sweet and attentive. The second visit was a return visit because the abscess grew more painful and unbearable. The doctor this visit which was the next day way very attentive and unlike most ER doctors the doctors here seemed more caring and didn’t rush me out like the experiences of other ER doctors in other hospitals. I had to return a third time for a repacking of gauze that was in place came out and again the doctor was very attentive. I can’t say enough good about the care the doctors provided here. It’s really comforting that there’s still the level of compassion left in the services of health care. I give them a 5 plus start rating. I am happy I choose to go here. Bust or not they have a great staff.
Dear Vicki – Thank you so much for taking the time to write this! One of our goals is to ease anxiety and worry any way we can, and we’re so glad to hear your recent experience was a positive one. We appreciate your trust in us and do not take it lightly. Please accept our best wishes for your continued good health, and know we are always here if you should need us!
Gracias.
Experiencia negativa: I am a disabled mother of a schizophrenia patient who's a second stroke patient at Palomar Hospital. I can not walk from the elevator to his room on the seventh floor. I need to be taken in a wheelchair. I have come to see him several times so far but today after braving bumper to bumper traffic to Escondido to see him I was informed no one would help me to get to the 7th floor and down the very long hallway to see him. And the way in which I was told was absolutely a careless attitude. Sorry...... they said like my visit was not important to a very sad mentally ill old man who may well die within 6 months or less. His nurse brushed me off like the desired visit was nothing of importance! Seeing me would have encouraged him to fight for his recovery. I guess Palomar really doesn't care for annoying mental patients. They proved that today and left my son in tears and rightfully very angry that NO ONE could get me up stairs. He could have a third stroke at any time. I wanted to help find placement for him in nursing homes since no one wants to rehab him. Palomar should let it be known they don't want anyone with a mental problem to go there. They told me earlier they wanted my help. Fine way to show it!!!!
Dear Deborah – we apologize for your experience and would welcome the opportunity to resolve this with you. Please email us at [email protected] and we will respond timely. Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: Omg if I could give this place 0 stars I would! I’m currently pregnant and been having a lot of complications. First let me say that there is no patient privacy. They don’t even have the decency to give pregnant women a bed. They literally have you waiting out in the waiting rooom, with an iv. Worst customer service! I called them to have my test results reviewed. (The doctor never called me about my labs. ) the lady literally hung up right in my face. I really think we need to get together and get this place shut down. Read the other reviews, no one is lying. Drive and go to Scripps Encinitas. Anything but this hell whole of a hospital. You willl die here
Dear Naomi – This is dismaying to hear and certainly not the kind of experience we want our patients to have at Palomar Health. We are continually working to improve, and we thank you for letting us know about this. Please send us an email at [email protected] and let us know how to contact you directly – we would welcome the opportunity to find out more details, to follow up on our end, and ideally to resolve this with you. Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: Today I had no choice but to visit this hospital when my wife was in a car accident on the Freeway nearby. Before the Kaiser hospitals popped up, we were here a couple of other times and this hospital is consistently one of the worst hospital experiences we've encountered. It's more like a county hospital. The ER is always overflowing causing one to receive all of your care in the hall way. For as new as this hospital is, it lacks upkeep. If you have the option to go somewhere else, I highly recommend going there instead. Edit May 2, 2024 in response to their response: Perhaps a hallway triage area for non-emergency cases from uninsured people using the facility as primary care for a cold would allow the limited space to be used for actual emergencies. There is no excuse for a poorly maintained and dirty facility. Other hospitals do not have these issues, and even if they did, it does not make it acceptable.
Dear David – Firstly, we are so sorry to hear of your wife’s accident and hope she is doing well now. Secondly, the experience you describe is not the kind of experience we want our patients or their loved ones to have at Palomar Health. Volumes are often high in our emergency department, as they are throughout the county, and at times that does necessitate providing care in alternative spaces such as hallways. Our goal is always to continue to improve, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback – it is helpful to us. If you would like additional follow up, please do not hesitate to email us at [email protected], and we will respond timely. Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: i hate this place. i met one single nurse who was actually nice. four people screamed at my client with dementia and treated her and me like we were two. not very clean and took over 7 hours for them to do 0 tests and nothing for my client to take when she could barely walk because of her back that was killing her for days. got screamed at because i asked to use the hospital restroom in the hall. got screamed at by the doctor for asking what's going on with my client because I was responsible for her and they were aware of that fact. waited in the hall for 4 hours and then they put us into a ER room. it's not like we came in an ambulance..oh wait. we did. got yelled at for "being in the way" when the other nurse didn't communicate that i was in her way or that she needed to be where I was sitting when she was the one who told me to sit there. my client was 90 years old and in horrible pain and they treated her like she was lying about it. you could physically see that she was screaming in agony for hours.
This is dismaying to hear, and is absolutely not the kind of experience we want our patients – or their loved ones or caretakers – to have at Palomar Health. Please email us at [email protected] and let us know how to reach you directly. It is important that we’re able to follow up on our end, and we would welcome the opportunity to resolve this with you, as well. Thank you for letting us know, and we are sorry your experience did not go as you expected it to.
Experiencia negativa: Worst Hospital NA, constantly forgetten about and ignored. They cant communicate for anything. Takes all day for no results. One of the nurses took two hours to give my wife medicine. Her name was Jessica.
We are sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations, and thank you for taking the time to let us know. Our goal is always to continue to improve, and feedback from the community – even the feedback that may be difficult to hear – is one way we do that. Please know we are always here if you need us.
Experiencia fantástica: Week ago I delivered baby in this hospital and I want to say thank you to Argentina. She was the most caring, gentle and respectful. She went through everything with me and she was amazing.
Hi Valentina – congratulations on the new addition to your family! We agree that Argentina is fantastic – we love to reward and recognize our team members for their great work and will be sure to pass that along. Thank you for taking the time to write this! We are always here if you have questions or need anything.
Experiencia negativa: My handicapped sister was treated for five days after a bad fall. Two weeks after her release she was still complaining of her upper swollen arm. She said a nurse gave her a shot. I specifically told them no injections of any kind! No Covid, no flu, no shingles, none! Upon review of her medical records page 25 listed seasonal influenza injection by a nurse in upper right forearm. My sister has experienced continual headaches since her release and difficulty with her speech. I don’t know if there is a connection or not but she didn’t have those issues before. I’m very upset.
Dear Rustalyn – Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about this. It’s not the kind of experience we ever want our patients or their loved ones to have at Palomar Health. Please email us at [email protected] with some more information, including the patient’s name, if you would (that email address is privacy-protected). We would welcome the opportunity to both resolve this with you and to follow up on our end.
Experiencia negativa: 03/28/24 Well it looks as though we had no choice but to bring mom back when she had a serious fall injury. Like I said before great drs and nurses, but for admin to release a 85 year old woman after less the 48 hrs after major surgery is criminal and cruel. Think twice before coming here. Go to Scripps or Sharp if you have the choice. Seriously flawed here and just running it for the bottom line of making a profit to pay for the huge new hospital. 11/2023 Mom came here for emergency. Good emergency surgeon and some of the staff were super nice, but there were some were very snarky. Being that it was a mom emergency, I could have used a bit more empathy. Heavy security staff at entrances. Give me Scripps Green any other time.
Dear Kellie, we apologize for the less than extraordinary experience you had with us. As your dependable healthcare resource, we deeply value your service and loyalty. We understand the stress and anxiety that may have transpired and hope you'll give us another chance in the future.
Experiencia negativa: I would not recommend Palomar Medical Center Escondido. My dear friend experienced an abscess fistula after a surgery there and needed a second surgery and two additional procedures. She was in so much pain and very anxious. I visited her several times and her dirty dishes cluttered her bed table and nursing help was slow to respond. And visitors are treated like criminals! I did not appreciate the wait with one security guard and 3 people ahead of me. My bags are checked and my person scanned. No receipt is given for your confiscated items (my Happy Birthday balloons for my friend! ) And a minimum of $5 for parking!!! I was a frequent visitor and no validation for parking! Ridiculous.
Dear Tanya – Thank you for taking the time to let us know this. Please know this is not the kind of experience we want our visitors (or our patients) to have at Palomar Health. We do check bags and “wand” people entering our hospital to ensure the campus and the people on it are as safe as they can be – we know this sometimes results in a wait before people are able to get upstairs. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss the rest of your concerns with you – please email us at [email protected] and let us know how we may get in touch with you, and please accept our apology that your experience did not go as you expected it to.
Experiencia negativa: I used to love coming here. However over the years the service has declined. The ER is a complete disaster. It shouldn't take 9hrs to be seen and discharged. I absolutely HATE coming to this hospital now. I went here August by ambulance and nobody listened to me I asked several times to test me for COVID the doctor nor the nurses didn't listen. I'm high risk and they misdiagnosed me. I got worst and took a at home test. My doctor immediately ordered the medication I needed. Because I was positive. Then I was here again Friday at 9pm I didn't leave until 6:30a that's assured. Y'all need to do better. I was sitting in pain for hours before giving anything. I come here because they have all my records but something has to give!
Dear Ladi – Thank you for taking the time to let us know this, and we are so sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations. We are continually working to improve, and we understand the frustration that comes with feeling like you aren’t being heard. We would welcome the opportunity to connect with you and resolve this – if you would, please email us at [email protected] with some additional details (that email address is privacy protected) and we will respond timely. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: A very dedicated staff of doctors, nurses, technicians, volunteers and security took wonderful care of our family. They strive for excellence in everything they do, they have great teamwork and excellent communication, these are good people with good leaders
Hi Marcello. Thank you for the positive review of our team – we agree, they are amazing! We appreciate you taking the time to write this review, and we will make sure our team hears your feedback.
Experiencia negativa: I came to the hospital at 5 am, and I'm still here (11:30 am) with no answer or final report. When I asked for feedback, they said that doctors would help me as soon as possible. I realized that nurses put fluids in your body without gloves and while eating snacks!! Disgusting!!! I don't recommend this place. This is first and last time in this place.
Dear Esra – This is dismaying to hear, and is not the type of experience we want people to have at Palomar Health. We very much appreciate you letting us know. Please email us at [email protected] so that we can follow up with you – we will respond. Thank you.
Experiencia negativa: DO NOT go to this hospital case managers are horrid and think of people as numbers. Our case manager was Pam and she was absolutely the most vile human being idk how she sleeps at night. We got a last minute discharge and only had a choice of taking my dad (who suffered a brain injury) To a still care facility that only had 2 stars she basically threatened to kick us out or we’d have to pay up to 10,000$ a night because the insurance was not covering anymore nights. If you get assigned to someone named PAM PLEASE RE ASSIGN TO ANOTHER CASE MANAGER. I am now seeking legal advice for all the stress and incompetence this hospital put my family through.
Dear Betsy – This is dismaying to hear, and is certainly not the experience we ever want people to have with Palomar Health. We would like to be able to follow up on this and ideally to resolve it with you. May we ask you to please email us at [email protected] with some additional details, at your convenience? Please know that email address is privacy protected and that we will reply to you in a timely manner. We apologize for this experience and thank you so much for letting us know about it – our goal is always to continue to improve, and feedback from our community is one of the ways that we do that.
Experiencia negativa: Definitely not the place if you need a life saving procedure. I came here because I passed out and bumped my head, so the ambulance drove me over there. We got there at 11:30 am, and I stayed there until 5:30 pm with ZERO results, just a bunch of tests. When I told the nurse I waited for my doctor all day and wanted to leave, all they did was give me a liability waiver. In the end, I left this hospital with even more anxiety than I did when I got there. This place is just another cruel business that would rather and profit off you than actually find whats going on and cure you.
Dear Dominik – we apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please email us at [email protected] with more information and we will respond and follow up with you. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. Our goal is always to continue to improve, and feedback from the community helps us to do that.
Experiencia negativa: Dr Ginsberg is not a pleasant person. She's controlling, doesn't listen to her patients and is condescending beyond anything I've encountered before. She has refused to let me go. Telling me I need to stay to get my diet under control, for a disorder I've effectively dealt with for over 10 years. After she decided I needed to stay (with no input from me), she came back in my room to yell at me. She said "I will see all my other patients first. Then I will discharge you. You will be here all day". I just want to go home and let someone more ill have this room. Dr Ginsberg is clearly more interested in control than medicine. Such a shame. I'll be going to Tri-City from now on. February 12, 2024. Rm#772
We are so sorry to hear this, and thank you for taking the time to let us know about it. This is not the kind of experience we ever want people to have at Palomar Health! You are welcome to email us at [email protected] for further assistance – we would welcome the opportunity to help resolve this with you.
Experiencia negativa: The test they performed on me was left incomplete for no specificed reason. Probably so they can charge for a second. The security is overzealous. They made me lift up my shirt looking for contraband. Not even customs or TSA behaves like that.
We are sorry that your experience was anything less than extraordinary. As your trusted health partner, we take pride in serving you and hope that you will consider visiting our facility again in the future. We would welcome the opportunity to speak with you and answer any questions. If you would like, please feel free to send us an email at [email protected] for further assistance.
Experiencia fantástica: The best care I could have ever imagined. From the staffing to the delightful meals. With this level of care I know that I will be able walk away from this experience a healthy and happy patient. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. MICHAEL CURTIS STEPHENSON

Experiencia negativa: VETERANS STAY AWAY! Every time I've used their ER, they've completely ignored my VA Healthcare coverage and billed Tricare instead for a higher amount. They then spend MONTHS harassing me for a copay and threatening me with collections instead of going through the insurance that I actually authorized them to use. Every time!

Experiencia negativa: In the ER they littlerly put people through a airport security check. While you can't breathe. The staff is so condescending and treat people like a number. They were littlerly yelling at my 79 year old Dad. Then they tried the same with me. All of the nurses shoes are filthy dirty.

Experiencia negativa: I am forever ruined, traumatized and physically scarred for the rest of my life due to Dr. Kevin Carnevale and the OB team at Palomar hospital. They are not skilled or experienced enough to handle high risk pregnancy. If you are high risk, run away from them fast. I was neglectfully and prematurely discharged with contractions and severe health issues after being told needed serious medical attention. Only to be discharged after 18hrs. I went into labor at home just 6hrs later. I was told I needed c section but Kevin wasnot honest about what really happen. They cut me open but I had avaginal birth. My perfectly healthy premature baby died after being born. Then they were so unclean I got staff infection so bad in my uterus that I was forced to get a hysterectomy. I'm 35 and this was my first child. I jad about 10-15 surgeries from oct 12- Nov. 30my stomach is still not fully healed and it now looks gross with a huge scar. They have donothing to rectify this extreme life physically and mental change of events caused by there inability to perform. They're unprofessional neglectful and heartless t o what they've caused me and my family. I can no longer have children. This hospital OB team needs to be shutdown and restructured by people who are experienced and qualified for the job. I almost lost everything as a result of this event as I try to currently recover. There is no way to gage how much longer it will take to fully recover. In addition, I don't have my child. What is my child's life worth to Palomar and what is destroying my womb worth? Let's not forget my mental health or the scar I have to seeon my deformed stomach for the rest of my life. I hate this place with all my might. Kevin, you deserve to lose your license and I hipe you see me and my baby in your dreams for the rest of your life

Experiencia negativa: Absolute worst experience. I have gone to this hospital three times. Once with my father, whereas they nearly killed him, making his heart attack ever more stressful. The second was my brother, who waited outside the ER for over and two hour to be see by a doctor, who gave us attitude for shouting for help, as he was in agony and eventually went into shock. The third and final visit to this hospital, they forced me to get an MRI and I have had body aches, and headaches ever since they exposed me to high-levels of radiation.

Experiencia negativa: I was in DKA, life threatening condition that needs at least 3-4 days to recover from. They sent me home in like 16hrs and I paid $400 that I owed for my stay. Now I get an insurance bill that says $42,072.37 is owed and I have to pay $6,000 out of that for a single day couple IV's and an Xray and blood tests. If I knew it was going to be this much I would much rather die. What the hell??? If I dint go I could go into coma... They didn't tell me at the hospital that I would have to pay more than $400 for anything. WILL NEVER EVER GO HERE AGAIN and I will definitely despute this charge. Ridiculous!!!!
