Experiencia negativa: We managed to get in much sooner than the 1-2 year waitlist I was expecting, so I was hopeful for a good experience. But for a 2.5 year old to tolerate hours of evaluation and expect solid results is unreasonable. I’ve never gone through an evaluation before, so I didn’t know what to expect, but by the second half of the appointment she was DONE. And then to be told with confidence she doesn’t have Autism, when she would barely comply with what they asked her to do, felt pretty outrageous. Especially because she has a genetic diagnosis that increases the chances of Autism. Topping it off with the doctor telling me “you’re just mom. You’re not an educator, you’re not a therapist, you’re just mom.” I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but how condescending can you be to tell a mother that? We are the first line of defense for our children. What confidence am I supposed to have in a doctor that degrades my roll in my child’s life and management of their diagnosis? We were offered a reevaluation in 6 months to a year, but I may be looking for another office for that eval.

Experiencia negativa: As someone who works in the medical field myself, I am APPALLED by their office and referral staff. You are literally the FACE of this business. They lie about communicating with families via mail, phone and lie about contacting providers as excuses to remove children from the waitlists. There’s nothing you can do either. No higher up to speak to. They can take you off of their waitlist and tell you that it’s your fault for not returning paperwork that was NEVER MAILED out to you in the first place. You’ll have to get a new referral every time you are removed from the waitlist. When I mentioned never receiving a call to be informed they were closing the referral or even a letter confirming, I was told “We Don’t do that.” So what? YOUR JOB??? It’s clear by the amount of families who were wrongfully removed from the waitlist, that these employees have been getting away with this for the past few years. So disappointing given the awesome reputation the doctors here have. Our children and providers need better office staff and competent “referral specialists”.

Experiencia negativa: A 2+ year waiting list to get my child an autism diagnosis is UNACCEPTABLE. Receptionist are always rude when calling to get any kind of update. They say someone in scheduling will call me back but they NEVER do. TERRIBLE SERVICE ALL AROUND!!!!

Experiencia negativa: If you like being treated like just a number, disregarded, pushed off, scheduled and canceled on. Told that the original referral from 2021 isn't valid because of some non existent letter that never arrived... allowing them to expire it without actually giving services. Then sign on up to be treated like your in a narcissistic relationship. Experience gaslighting 101 and question everything through this experience. This place is the most unprofessional and just straight cold experience I have had to date. There is no way I am going to continue to try and get answers from here. My kid will never get the help he needs especially waiting for them to actuallyget their stuff together. Run as fast as possible away from this place. Kat the supervisor didn't bother to return my first 3 calls but was quick to be rude when I left the last message. Thanks to little far to late. If I could give 0 stars I would. I hope people realize their kids deserve better than the care they offer here!

Experiencia negativa: PLEASE USE EC cares! I had a referral from my doctor, they lied to my doctor, telling him that they had called me several times and i didn't answer. They never called me, and when i called them, no one answered. I got an appointment after a few months, and then i canceled after i saw that they were going to put my son through a bunch of evaluations all in a few hours. They are not professionals that's not how a person should be evaluated. The brain is too complex for a few hours. These people only care about the money they get they don't care about our kids.

Experiencia fantástica: My son saw a team of specialist's for an autism evaluation. Dr. Randall Phelps is the most kind Dr. we have ever seen. Ive been trying to get my son help since he was 2. Was dismissed for years. Dr. Phelps and his team were so amazing and kind. I went into this thinking we were going to be dismissed again, and was going to give up. My son finally has his diagnosis, i cant thank these people enough. Dr. Phelps, you have the coolest job in the world, thank you for being our angel, our prayers have been answered.. we appreciate you more than you will ever know. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. Shout out to the psychologist she was really amazing as well, the OT’s very cool. Thank you thank you!

Experiencia negativa: As a mother of multiple children with ASD, I can tell you that the way this place conducts their autism evaluations is not even remotely close to how a professional autism place does things. #1 They do everything on one day and give you a answer that day, no professional would ever agree to this as a sincere autism diagnosis requires a lot of thought and consideration. #2 They spent maybe 3 hours grand total with my child and I, that included a background, a speech evaul, a supposed autism component and a hearing evaluation. I have had to go through numerous evaluations with my children and the minimum any evaluator ever spent was 6 hours grand total split between numerous days. Don't even get me started on the fact that they except a child to sit through all of this instead of separating it into different appointments. #3 The main person isn't even a psychologist, it's a pediatrician, no pediatrician SHOULD EVER be allowed to diagnosis autism as they are not specially taught in diagnosis mental conditions, matter of fact, if a pediatrician ever even tried to diagnosis my child with Autism, I'd fire them on the spot, only someone who has went to school and studied Psychology should be diagnosing such a severe diagnosis. #4 The rooms that we had to sit in for 2 1/2 hours combined with the exception of the audiologist room resembled miniature jails, there's brick walls, no real decorations or joy....how fun! My pediatricians office at least has decals and the rooms are comfy, these rooms were 12 feet by 10 feet. Who doesn't love being cramped in a room during one of the single most stressful moments of their life?! I think I'll leave it at that....Google mindsights and save your time and money!

Experiencia negativa: my daughter had an evaluation here recently. we have been patients of doernbecker in portland for years and have had nothing but good experiences. this clinic, however, was less than satisfactory and i was left feeling extremely defeated. in short, the provider didn’t listen to anything i had to say about my daughter. she completely ignored anything i tried to say. she even was extremely stereotypical when talking about people with ID. she said, and i quote, “people with this condition are usually the ones you see in the store bagging groceries”. how incredibly insensitive. she talked down to my daughter and i and completely ignored anything and everything i had to say. i frankly don’t care if my daughter grows up to be a cashier or live in a group home, i just want her surrounded by people that support her and care about her. she didn’t receive either of those two things and frankly, was treated less than human because of her “condition”. do not wait a year to get into this place. please go somewhere else where the staff actually cares about the children and won’t use stereotypes when diagnosing your children.

Experiencia fantástica: Incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and compassionate staff. Part of their job can be delivering difficult news, and they always seem to do so with grace and a plan of action for caregivers. They are one-of-a-kind!:)

Alic Sendec 3 years ago

Experiencia negativa: The information and evaluation that they do are unreasonable when doing their tests they expect to much out of one whole day session and conclude the information they developed is solid evidence on a child’s learning skills and capabilities along with comments that have nothing to do with the child or the evaluation just biased opinions. The information is out dated and the tests are to long even with one lunch break at some point a child will not want to do the tests and become disinterested in them. knowing this the results the professionals get are all invalid. Along with students at the university conducting the tests even if the professionals are working along side them they do as they please texting and talking about there own families leaving the student interns to complete the evaluation not realizing how valuable the information they gather is to the parent. A suggestion for all parents would be to look into more resources and to not stay stuck with just one opinion.

Experiencia positiva: You cant reach anyone here by phone its a pain....

Experiencia positiva: Wonderful work is done here. Since speaking to more individuals with wheelchairs or other transportation accommodations, the bathrooms do not have an automatic door opener which makes the world of a difference for those with different accommodations. For the building to primarily serve those with disabilities and not providing an automatic door opener seems absent minded of what accessibility means to many. Great work is done here, let’s continue to make it better!

Experiencia fantástica: As a transgender person who felt alone and isolated most of my childhood, this places transition services quite literally saved my life.

Experiencia negativa: --Information regarding other patients, including their names, was included in our son's final report. I have seen similar violations in other reports produced by this organization. Dr. Reagan Smith was snarky and condescending--even before our complaint was filed. I have a master's degree and my husband holds 2 masters and is nearly finished with his doctorate--we do not need to be spoken to as if we were in Kindergarten. Very unprofessional and poor attention to detail. Exception--In my experience Dr. Phelps is professional, maintains the dignity of his patients and their families, and is reasonable and helpful.

Experiencia negativa: I enjoyed the team of doctors we saw during my daughter's evaulations. They were great. However, the person (male) that answers the phone is extremely crude. I have talked to him more than a handful of times and each time he is snarky and insulting. His constant attitude makes me not want to bring my daughter back ever again.

Experiencia negativa: They did nothing I thought this is where the answers are but I guess if they do not ask the questions or do anything but read paperwork from a year earlier how can this place say it helps!!

Experiencia negativa: Rude inappropriate staff. Do not recommend

C G 6 years ago

Experiencia positiva: I guess it’s great this is available to people but we won’t know if it’s really any good. The process of filling out the stack of paperwork and the other running around you have to do to even get on the 6 month waiting list is completely overwhelming.

Kayla Willhite 6 years ago

Experiencia positiva: The doctors and facility itself are great. However the male receptionist was rude to me today. Knowing that kids come to them with disabilities, I’d think he should be more sensitive to the families.

J Kimrey 7 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Very friendly staff who help my son so much. He is making leaps thanks to all the help they have provided for him.

Jurassic Bird 7 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely, hands down, the BEST resource my family has ever invested in for my son. Dr. Phelps is an amazing and knowledgeable man who is willing to go the extra mile for the children he treats. Highly recommend to any parent with a child on the spectrum or with other needs to check this place out!
