Experiencia negativa: Would not recommend. My mom got brought here by ambulance only to be told nothing was wrong with her when clearly there cause she couldn’t walk and kept falling down etc. Good thing she went to McLaren cause they found what was wrong and are getting it situated no thanks to you guys! Maybe if you of did your job in the first place you of found what was wrong. She should sue you guys honestly.

Experiencia fantástica: I went to Hurley for outpatient surgery recently. I'd never had a medical procedure here before so I had no idea how it would go. I have only good things to say about the doctors and nurses I saw during my visit. Kind, caring, professional, every one of them. They made sure I was taken care of the entire time. Very happy with Hurley!

Experiencia positiva: So I came in for medical detox after just an absolute insane relapse on alcohol and after being admitted to the ER they moved me up to the ICU which was very uncomfortable for me but that's just because I was very sensitive to sound and having pretty severe auditory hallucinations. I did just want to say, the one girl (don't remember her name) that spent her nights in the room with me was a sweetheart and I want to thank you for being so patient with me even when I was losing my shit. Not saying I have a crush on her but she was good to me and I really really appreciate that. Everyone there is great (except for some of the people down in the psych ward). Uh thanks for keeping me alive?

Experiencia negativa: Horrible experience! Came into Er for a stone lodged in my salivary duct. They kept me overnight for 8 am surgery. No pain meds. No proper treatment. Dr never came back to check on me after surgery. I’m in pain and unable to get help. Will not be back

Experiencia negativa: I needed to get a CAT scan done after hitting my head on a metal door several times and I was seen just by the social worker asking me about something that I wasn't there for and then the doctor just gave me my discharge papers and said "We aren't allowed to give you a CAT scan, you look just fine." He didn't even do any tests on me like looking at my head, asking me if anything hurts or not. He sent me home without any treatment. I could've died and so I went to McLaren instead and they did all the tests even the CAT scan

Experiencia negativa: I got rushed over by ambulance because I couldn’t breathe from Covid. I felt like my whole body was on fire, I was in extreme pain, tight chest, and my limbs were going numb. Which was scary and concerning because I have underlining medical issues. The staff just left me in a wheelchair in the lobby. Other people were being dumped into the lobby like me, from ambulances. Thank god my family put pants on me before hand, or I would have been left there in my underwear out in the open. Not that I would have realized much because I was so out of it, I was barely conscious, but I’m glad I had some modesty. The ambulance staff just tossed my belongs on my lap and left, which I couldn’t grasp and was falling everywhere. My family picked me up immediately and took me to a different hospital where I was treated right away. I guess it would have been a three hour wait for a room when they asked staffed. Would never recommend to anyone. This isn’t the first time this has happened to me here.

As a Level I Trauma Center, every patient is triaged and assessed by level of life threatening symptoms, whether they arrive by ambulance or personal vehicle. This can lead to a longer wait for patients who are not experiencing life threatening symptoms. We understand this can be challenging for some. We are glad to hear you are doing better and you found an ER that could handle your symptoms in a time frame that suited you. We want everyone to heal.

Experiencia negativa: My best friend is currently there, it is 10:00 pm. She has an 89 year old roommate and she was calling for the bathroom for over an hour, getting ignored. Then as she’s telling me this, someone is yelling in the hallway I asked for the bathroom 3 hours ago. At the emergency intake this past Friday morning around 8-9 a.m. the receptionists that were there, two of them, were nothing but slow, disrespectful and honestly down right disgusting. I witnessed a woman who was bleeding terribly tell the woman at the front that she was miscarrying, the receptionist looked at her and said “you can’t go to urgent care” my friend had a blood clot and was having signs of a heart attack and she waited hours. You are taking a chance on your life going here. Please avoid at all costs. It’s dirty, almost every nurse has a disgusting attitude, not one nurse smiled while I was there.

Experiencia fantástica: I had the best experience I could’ve asked for. I go here for my OB and was obviously here for my delivery. Best staff I could’ve asked for. I had a span of four nurses for my induction and every single one was SO sweet. I wanted to give an extra special thanks to Regina, she was very very helpful in informing me about everything and was there helping me breathe through my pains and my epidural. She was the most caring nurse I have ever met. My postpartum nurses were also amazing. Dr Pyatt was my OB and he was genuinely the best I could’ve asked for as well for an OB and as someone to deliver my baby. They were so encouraging and supportive and I wouldn’t change a single thing about my experience. Thank you thank you THANK YOU to the staff!!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: Every nurse was very gentle with procedures, very caring and all around professional. Had a five day stay and it was and ever person I dealt with was very professional and courteous. Would recommend Hurley Medical Center to anyone needing medical care and will be coming back if I unfortunately end up getting injured again. Thanks to all the nurses and CNA's who cared for me, you men and women are true professionals and absolute rockstars

Experiencia negativa: I have NEVER had such a bad experience at a hospital emergency department as I did this evening! I had never been to this facility….. I drove a friend there for a broken foot….I dropped her off and took my two young children to find something in the area to “kill time”…..I dropped her off at 6pm…..we returned around 8:30pm because we had no where else to go…. She was still sitting in a wheelchair, in the lobby, waiting to be seen! My kids and I sat with her until 10:30pm…..and MULTIPLE people that showed up before her, were STILL waiting!!!! After waiting for 4 1/2 hours, (and still not seen by a Dr.) I told my friend we were leaving!!! I was appalled…..car accident victims (brought by ambulances) were sitting in the lobby for 5+ hours……CRYING because they were in pain and couldn’t move extremities!!!! Between the LARGE amount of officers out front and overhearing the family of a patient…..it became very clear what prevented 30 other people from being seen…..and it’s BEYOND pathetic!! I hope the accident victims that had been sitting there for 5+ hours….in excruciating pain….got the help THEY DESERVED!!!! I took my friend home, tried to make her as comfortable as possible, and plan on going to a better hospital in the morning!!! Never….in my 40 years….have I EVER waited that long in an ER!!!!! Not even CHILDREN’S on a WEEKEND!!!!

Experiencia negativa: My experience at this place was and still is horrible meaning I’m still here. I have a broken hip a broken pelvis and fractured ribs. Been here 6 days told I am going home tomorrow because I don’t trust nursing home facilities for my rehab. One dr says I can do in house pt but the pt department wants me to do outside resources because I walked with a walker from my bed to bed side commode. I then told them I have stairs at home, she tells me well there is a stairwell at the end of the hall if I want to practice on my own which I’m gonna do in order to learn stairs again praying I don’t fall. Oh and let me not forget that because I turned down extra strength Tylenol I must not be in pain, why should I take something that I know doesn’t work for me verses what is working I’m not a pill popper so I’m not gonna take it if it’s not gonna help my pain. I just pray my injuries don’t get worse once they kick me out tomorrow. If you have any questions I’m in the 7th floor mad and sore as hell. But let me go make this practice walk on these stairs hope there is a call light there

Experiencia fantástica: Hospitalized here twice within the last year for the Psychiatric ward, (ive been to several around the state. (in and out pat.) They have EXEPTIONAL staff in the adolescent wing, they were kind and VERY helpful with helping me come to terms with and getting a understanding of my mental illness. 10/10 would Highly recommend to any parents and or guardians who are concerned for their child's safety or well being. Thank you hurley, for helping me understand and find healthy ways to combat my depression.

Experiencia negativa: We came here because of our dr.s recommendation and it is packed from wall to wall. In the waiting room for 4 hrs and in a room for 3. The staff kept asking, while taking vitals, what is your pain on the scale. You would think after 4 answers of 8 + they might actually do somthing about it but no. Very dissatisfied.

Hurley is a Level I Trauma Center and the expertise here is probably why your doctor made the referral, because they want you to have the best. With that said, being a Level I Trauma Center, patients are seen by level of life-threatneing symptoms and come to Hurley from a big portion of the state. That can mean a wait for other patients. Experiencia negativa: I brought my mother here for an issue with her knee. She had an X-ray, ultrasound and blood work to rule out DVT, infection or sepsis. We were told that the labs would take 1-2 hours. However we waited over4 hours only to be told they were waiting for a physician to give us the results. This was close to a 12 hour visit with the last 6 hours waiting for lab results. Unacceptable! We arrived at 3:52PM and the results weren’t shared with us u til 3AM.

Experiencia fantástica: My mom was in the Emergency Department a few weeks ago due to injuries she sustained playing pickleball. She had broken all 3 ankle bones as well as her arm, which required quite a bit of attention. I would like to publically THANK the following staff who were working that night for taking such great care of Mom: * Ron RN, Jake RN, and Mark Wilkerson MD Also, a special SHOUT OUT to Vinita RN at the triage station. She is amazing and Hurley is very lucky to have her! For those that I am forgetting behind the scenes or did not get your name, THANK YOU! You are appreciated! You have tough jobs (and very exciting ones, too!). PS - The security team is faced with difficult situations daily - I know this, as I also work in healthcare at a critical access hospital where we have zero security and I am the risk manager faced with these challenges daily. I was witness to a patient's loved one becoming aggravated due to the long wait. I spoke to him to actively listen and de-escalate the situation. It was working ... until two security guards came over and had none of it and hauled the guy out of there. The patient was already very sick and upset. Hauling her loved one away made her condition even worse. Perhaps investing in proper de-escalation training for the security team would be a wonderful resource vs. instant judgment and removal. This was simply my observation. Thank you. Again, thank you to the medical team for taking great care of my mom.

Experiencia negativa: 8 hours in the waiting room and still not been seen. My lady was here the night before for 7 hours(in and out) they released her with a ruptured ovarian cysts and here we are again the next day. Hasn't eaten or drank for two days and we can't even get a hallway spot with an iv. This place is horrible. People have come and gone AFTER us. How tf does SHE not have acuity in this case?

Experiencia negativa: Instead of telling us to get ahold of the patient avit.how about hire people that will listen and not lie to patients and hold them down to get a shot when they panicking. Like for real after being told do not touch they still did it give someone a few minutes for putting hand on anyone you guys are very lucky I didn't tell my lawyer about this because this isn't fair for anyone with mental health. Or even with regular health problems. Do better

Experiencia fantástica: Greg the nurse on the adult behavior unit was very patient with my uncle Ken and gave updated on his care during his admission. Experiencia negativa: I understand healthcare workers deal with lots of patients. When it comes to people who are in real pain or need immediate care and pay taxes and pay for high insurance. Immediately care should be taken action fast . It should not take 5 hours to get help . Immediate patient should be first at all times . Also medical tools should be up dated and not giving out wrong information

Experiencia negativa: Drive the extra 45 min and at least go to Henry Ford. If their own staff do not use their hospital's services, it's telling about the care you will receive. They discharge too early, which leads to readmission after readmission.

Experiencia negativa: super disrespectful; they were all of color which doesn’t matter because i have mixed children but because it was 3 people against 1 , when i was complaining about my moms medical care, they were super rude to me even yelled across the emergency department, the front desk nurses or receptionist… and security!!!! smh!!!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: After my son had a hover board accident, we were rushed to Hurley by ambulance from Lapeer. I do have to say the EMS girls were absolutely amazing. They made it fun for my son the best they could. They held the phone up for him and let him watch his favorite show and they talked to me and made me feel better. The Hurley staff was amazing not only were they amazing but Dr. Bowers performed an almost 3 hours surgery on my 4 Year old little boy placing a titanium plate with screws in his little head. Before surgery, Dr. Bowers explained to my husband and I how it’s going to go he gave us options. He drew us a picture. He was very kind and patient. He also checked on us multiple times while in the hospital. I have nothing but awesome things to say about Dr. Bowers and his staff. I’m sure thankful for him. I highly recommend Dr. Bowers.

Experiencia negativa: My mother was in the emergency room last night with her upper arm broken completely in half and she was diagnosed with "arm pain", given a splint without it being set, and sent home. Now, she has to wait until Tuesday for anything to be done about it!!! This is ridiculous!!! Wish I could give 0 stars!!!

Experiencia negativa: Came in with appendix! Called sick call Dr. He said he would let them know i was on my way, was on the waiting room and a nurse that didn't work their no more came in with her son who had a broken foot and we had a welcome back party at the desk next thing you know they had him in the back xraying his foot never seen him again I guess it who you know not how bad the injurie is!!!! Thanks Hurley!!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: I know this is late but I am still recovering from surgery i had to have surgery the last Wed. Of. Feb and evry one I seen. Before surgery was awesome then I had to stay nine days in the rehab part of hurley for ot and pt and evry one. I seen during the. Whole stay. Was as nice as they. Could. Be from the nurses to. Pt and ot. And even cleaning people. Was as nice as they can be thank u. So much for all u did for me during my stay

Experiencia fantástica: We had our 4th baby here and it was by far our best experience. It was the only delivery where we didn't feel bullied by the doctors. It truly felt like they were part of our team. The doctors were humble and listened to what we wanted and the nurses were very supportive and exceptionally helpful.

Experiencia fantástica: We had the best experience with you guys! Pediatric unit. My daughter Indiana was brought in with croup. I have never stayed in a hospital for any reason other than giving birth. Every Doctor and Nurse there was amazing. I never dreaded when there was a shift change during our 2.5 days there because You ALL were amazing! I remember one woman very clearly this morning around 4 AM when my baby was gasping for air immediately turned on the light picked her up and comforted her while she went through her issues with breathing. She told my baby she would never forget her chubby little self as my 8 month old waved at her as she left the room and I almost cried and I swear she almost did too(I wish I knew her name) but every nurse felt like a friend or family member and the doctors truly cared and listened. You can talk to everyone who works there like a friend. The staff in the pediatric unit are so genuine and they want the best for your baby . Thank you ALL Also! There is ONE chair in the room that turns into a couch/pull out cot.ask about it and dont ever think you have to sleep in a chair! You dont! Lol I learned my lesson after night one. Experiencia negativa: Absolutely terrible! I would never recommend anyone take themselves or their loved ones to this place. My dad was treated poorly by most of the medical professionals that walked into his room. Poor bedside manner by both nurses and doctors. No one seemed to be on the same page...very disconnected.

Experiencia positiva: I’ve been to Hurley many times, it’s always a wait but usually worthwhile, staff is kind and helpful. I most recently took my son, (5) there for asthma related issues such as labored breathing, the doctors were very nice and asked if he could have a popsicle which I thought was very sweet at the time and since it was such a moral boost I agreed, I wouldn’t have expected them to bring him a blue popsicle which turned his lips blue. (blue lips are a symptom of dangerously low oxygen levels) I didn’t realize this until he had eaten the popsicle and got blue lips, I’m not displeased with staff but I want them to possibly learn from this situation and maybe in the future they will be able to offer popsicles without strong dyes or another treat for good patients.

Experiencia negativa: Got GOUT Attack. Have to be brought in emergency room. Had gout problems for 8 years. I was brought to hallway all day instead inside room for IV and steroid. I know what I needs when I got in emergency room. Doctor ignore my request and give me different medicine. Then release me back home. Man nurse start giving me attitude as he is in hurry to rid of me. I am still in pain. Dont recommended to attend hurley medical center. Go different one!!!

Experiencia negativa: This place is terrible! My mother was here for a week. They didn't do any hygiene for her. I had to cut her hair short because of the snarls in it. Then when she was discharged to her physical therapy facility, they sent her to the wrong place! I would leave negative stars, but that is not an option. I added the pictures on the add photo option, since it won't let me here

Experiencia negativa: It’s a hit or a miss. My husband suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns from a work incident and the trauma bay staff were excellent. On the burn floor, they were good. He was released 3 days later after he said he wasn’t comfortable and we returned 2 days later. The ER staff and the PA from the burn trauma unit were fabulous, informative and took excellent care of him. He was transferred to CDU a few hours later and the care diminished. His wound (whole chest, belly area) was left unattended for 6 hours when it needs to be changed every 12, so that made it 18 hours. The night PA was very cocky, rude and never checked on my husband during those 12 hours he was working. My husband called me stating to get down there to him and when I did I asked to speak to someone in charge to know why he was left unattended and not changed. The nurse was very rude and snarky. We had very high hopes for this stay as the first doctor we saw was very good. Some people should not be in the healthcare field.

Experiencia negativa: My auntie was in labor and went to Hurley to give birth. Hurley sent her home and told her she had a bladder infection after making her wait 8 hours just to be seen. She was actually in labor and came back ready to deliver.the doctors told her to stand up off a hospital bed to move to another,but she refused because she said the baby was coming.The doctors told her that she didn't know what she was talking about and to stand up anyways.so she stood up and as soon as she did the baby broke from the placenta and came straight out and hit the nasty hospital floor and slid and hit the wall.my aunt gave birth right there on that nasty hospital floor.Later when the family came to the hospital we overheard the doctors laughing about it.the baby was just stiff for two weeks.both my aunt and the baby could have died! Hurley be on that medical malpractice. I bet the owner won’t respond to this review!

Experiencia fantástica: I have only been here once so far, I was so lost I was trying to find a medical office for an appointment and was directed to the wrong area by someone but the security guy Reuben was very nice and made sure I got to the right place before going for his lunch. He called every place he could think I would have been going. The other one that drove me to where I needed to go was also very nice and walked me right to the office to make sure it was the correct area (I did not catch her name) They all were very nice and respectful and could of easily sent me on my way but didn’t.

Experiencia negativa: On 1/4/2024 my mom who was a pt was being discharged fron cdu.i called and spoke to her room nurse to let her know I was on my way,and where would the best place be for me to park and recieve/ pick up my mom.i asked the nurse should I park,should I park in the old er by pharmacy,the nurse informed me I could park wherever I choose,but I would have to come in to get her because there was no transporters available .I realized I didn't know or have access from the old er/ pharmacy,so she told me to park out front of lobby.i walk to the cdu after parking out front by lobby,and go in to my moms room to get her and I realize there's no wheelchair.i asked the 2 nurses sitting at nurses station desk,if they could get me a wheelchair.the brunette with glasses gets up and goes look down hallway of cdu unit to check for( something thatshould have been sought out and secured before my arrival) ,and says" we don't have one,you will have to go get one".I asked her where do I get one from,she says" the lobby".and at this moment I'm not only upset,but confused as to when did the patient's family transport discharge pts out to the car,or search out hospital for wheelchairs for a discharge. I'm upset now,but I go to the lobby (because my mom was ready to go),get the chair from lobby receptionist. I explained to the lobby receptionist that situation, which she tells me I shouldn't have been the one seeking out a wheelchair to discharge my mom.i get the wheelchair,and back to cdu I go to get my mom.The 2 nurses say nothing,nether one gets up from the nurses station desk to say bye cat/ dog ,nothing.i asked before I leave out if they need to say something to her,or if I needed to know anything,the nurse just says " nope,she's all set"( while still sitting behind nurses station). Little did she know,I'm a former employee of 24 years,I know how things function( unless there's been some drastic change),but never in my 24 years working as a RN at hurley,have I sent a pt's Family member to hunt down a wheelchair to be discharged,actually I've always had a wheelchair waiting and ready,and if no transportersare available,i or a tech pushed the pt out to the awaiting car for safety reasons.i guess she figured my 84 year old mom with arthritis,mild copd,with some gait impairment couldve just walked way back up to the lobby from cdu,since she didnt find it necessary to find her a wheelchair and have it at the bedside. I get it can be busy,but as a caring,responsible nurse,without prejudice,it's the nurses job to make sure the pt is discharged based on safety,and need of wheelchair assistance. Hecks ,she couldve called security,a tech,anyone to assist and have a wheelchair made handy,if she couldn't do it.But seeing as to they are both just sitting there at the desk,i guess my mom can figure it out,smh I've never been the one to complain ,because I know how busy the units can get,but this was blatant disrepect.i myself an 63,and traveling up and down that hallway( equals 4 runs) from the lobby to cdu,is like a big f you to the patient and family. You gotta do better.ive informed pt.advocate already( whom ill make sure to follow back up with as well) and if anyone of importance need to speak to me,you can find my info in my moms chart, id appreciate a call of concern, to let me know that this matter has been addressed(but we know how that goes sometimes,smh). And to the nurse/ nurses ,please don't try and say different, like I was in agreement with hunting down a wheelchair, because believe me ,I was not. Had I been the wrong family member,it couldve been not good.,because im sure they would not had not went along with that ,or been as calm as I was And you wonder why pt and family members get upset with staff,its not always then family. your staff has got to do better,or this institution need to know the "true" hearts of those they hire. E.R ,Carol and Brandy were amazing. Wish I wasnt so upset that day, because I didn't take the time to get their names,but I can definetly spot them out if need be!!!( but they know who they are)

I can not say enough good things about the incredible care my husband received during his stay in the neuro/trauma ICU unit. From the nurses and staff to the team of doctors helping us Navigate unknown territory, we cant thank you enough. Sometimes life throws scary unexpected circumstances your way & I will be forever greatful for the care my husband was provided & because of this, along with many other facilities, he has made a tremendous recovery from what could have been the end for him. Experiencia negativa: Came in to the ER on a Thursday at 10 pm, walked up to the check in counter.... the clerk just starred at us no greeting or direction. Its now 4 am and still haven't even gotten out of the lobby. Mind you my boyfriend is have rectal bleeding with severe abdominal pain and shallow breathing. Just shows how big of priority they make their patients at hurley. Never will I come back here

Sorry you are having to wait. As a Level I Trauma Center, patients are assessed, then seen by level of severity. We have patients from 14 counties rushed to our ED for our trauma expertise. We know this can lead to longer wait times for some. That can be frustrating when you are in pain. We hope your boyfriend is on the road to recovery soon.

Experiencia negativa: I spent time in the psychiatric floor. Prior to my admission, I was on 225 mg of Effexor daily. While I was here, the doctor discontinued it cold turkey. I am currently struggling with extreme withdrawal symptoms. (Brain zaps, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, irritability, nightmares, and extreme anxiety depression and paranoia. I am not able to get any help due to it being the holidays. A licensed psychiatrist should know better than to take an adolescent off of a antidepressant such as venlafaxine cold turkey. I have never felt more physically and emotionally I’ll than I do. Great job Hurley. Thank you for making me feel worse than when I came in.

Experiencia negativa: My son was a transfer from another hospital. We waited with the paramedics for an hour and then they had to leave. I was shoved into the PEDs waiting room and waited for even longer. You would think sense we were transfered, they would have everything ready to go. But, we arrived and waited and waited and just watched literally every staff member that walked through the PEDs area compalin about their job, the staff they were working with and what they did the following night. I am so disappointed. I feel for medical professionals because of everything they have been through. However, this was just disgraceful.

Experiencia negativa: Worst ER I've ever been to. Both of my daughters had the terrible experiences also. One of my daughters was sent today by her family Doctor,thought she had appendicitis. After seven hours of waiting she left still in extreme pain. I could tell several bad stories about this Er but not one good one

Experiencia negativa: If I could give zero stars I would. My son came in with extreme head pain, pupils were not reactive and one was larger, passing out and they didn't rush any care. 24 year old healthy young man with dangerously high blood pressure and in so much pain he is literally screaming. 45 minutes before even being triaged. He has stroke symptoms and 4 hours later he is still waiting. He passes out and they just watch and say we will try to get him back. What has the Healthcare industry come to?

Experiencia negativa: It’s only 2 child patients waiting for 7 hours and they come out and tell no rooms available, there is only one nurse in all of the ER section and 10 janitors, your child runs out of breath and they don’t care all they tell you we short on nurses or we don’t have rooms. If you interrupt their nap they become terrible with attitude and basically almost tell you they don’t care abt your child. Never go there again!!!!!!

Experiencia positiva: My son was in a terrible car wreck in Flint right before Christmas. He was pretty banged up, including a broken jaw. We mostly had good care, but something needs done about Dr. Ronald Stewart DDS. I have personally left him a negative review. He is the rudest doctor I have ever met and we had issues with him in hospital and outside of hospital when it came to after care. His office is disgusting and he shouldn't be putting his hands in anyone's mouth in that environment. I have much to say and would like to talk to someone at the hospital about this very unprofessional professional.

Experiencia negativa: My 6 year old son was burnt on the neck and top of shoulder 2nd and 3rd degree burns. We went to the ER in Caro and they treated us and recommended us to the Hurley Burn Unit to call the following morning. Well I called and waited on hold for 2 hourse finally leaving a voicemail with no returned call. Called back later that day waiting on the line for 3.5 hours and no answer resulting in another voicemail. No returned call. I called the following day I was transferred to 3 of the wrong units before getting the the burn unit for once again no answer or call back. Going on day 3 and no call back or answered call yet. I guess he doesn't need to see "the best burn unit". Not even a courtesy call back for instructions or anything Im very dissappointed.

Can't speak for the whole hospital, there are a couple graceful toke d in the building. The police at memorial are more helpful and understanding as well. Make the drive.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give this place a zero, I most definitely would. I went there for an appointment and I asked a month prior if they accepted my insurance. The woman on the phone was rushing me and she still made an appointment, so I assumed yes. Especially since they asked me on the date of my appointment that my insurance was correct. But little did I know, they didn't ask for my insurance card. They didn't ask for my ID. So I was billed for 300+ when is have MEDICAID. I called to get this issue resolved. They told me it was, and a week later, I got a letter stating I still had it, and I could do a payment plan. The situation here is god awful and I will definitely not be going back. Nor will I recommend this place to anyone. Do not be surprised if they bill you randomly. Lastly, I work in the medical field. I work front desk. I get that sometimes things are misplaced or it gets super busy. But usually after 'fixing' the issue once, it shouldn't happen again. And you should take ID and insurance everytime. Especially with new patients.

Experiencia negativa: Took my toddler son to Hurley ER today and his pediatric nurse, Gwien, treated us horribly. She was extremely unprofessional and unkind. Lacked bedside manner of any kind. Was very rude and snarky. Told me twice to keep an eye on him so he doesn’t get hurt there too.” (Had opened a cabinet when she walked in and another time was just playing) As we were leaving, I asked for a bag to put his belongings in and she went to hand it to me and would NOT let go. Pretty much had to pry it out of her hands. Then she told me to “make sure I kept his bandage tight so he didn’t suffocate.” She was also rough with my son when giving him his medicine and only talked to him when there were doctors in the room. She does not belong in an ER working with children. As for the doctors, they were wonderful with my son and treating him and the Head Nurse was kind to us.

Experiencia positiva: Hurley has bittersweet memories for me. First, I was born in Hurley. Second, my brother and sister were also born in Hurley. Hurley was my mother’s employer for over 28 years. She was once assistant head nurse of Pediatric Pyschology years ago. The sad part is that it is also where my mother took her last breath on August 19th, 2023 at 1:10am. I miss her so damn much. Experiencia negativa: Nurses hospital staff are very mean to children an parent's, making false accusations against good parents an trying to take the child an give them to the mothers abuser. Its sick. I am a nurse an a mother of 3 sons an a survivor of domestic violence an I would NEVER recommend this place. This is what's wrong with the system. Accidents happen with children . I get there are very bad people out there but the way my son an the Childs mother an child have been treated is insane. They came for HELP not to be condemned for something that is not true. All I can say is if this hospital dont clean up their act I'm coming with the law an lawyers. The childs heath an healing is most important in all areas an ripping them away sending them to a unsafe place makes me sick to know this place is even allowed to run like this.

Experiencia negativa: While good with my Grandson's surgery, there was a great deal of miscommunication! A couple of hours worth! Talking to different offices, but they did not talk to each other. They DEMANDED BOTH Guardians be there. This caused more problems & damage to my husband because he couldn't take his medication. My Husband is awaiting open heart surgery & missed several medication s he was supposed to take. I did ALL the signatures. I could have left him home. There was NO Reason to endanger him for this. There was only one parent for other patients. Other hospitals have charging stations. My phone went dead & they couldn't contact me. Always take a cube & cord. Lesson learned. Nurses were good, Dr good. Cafeteria food is nasty! The chairs were so uncomfortable!

Second one everything is fine but they act like it's a prison here and won't discharge us because someone's too power hungry. You'd be better off finding medical care in a different country then going to this hospital.

Experiencia negativa: They say they're the best ER for trauma one. I went in with a gunshot wound, I was put under as Jane Doe. This hospital staff are so incompetent that the secretary in the ER waiting room literally did not care that me and the paramedic was telling her that I am Jane Doe and you cannot put my name in system. So that's very incompetent woman of her job decided to stand up and scream my name for everyone in the emergency room to here. If you ask me it kind of felt like she was helping the people finish me off. I would not trust a living soul at Hurley to do anything. If you can go to another hospital go. And for the love of God do not get a nurse by the name of Kelsey. She is the grim reaper and does not have a care in her soul for another human. She is a nurse in the ER

Experiencia negativa: Hurley refused to properly treat my toddler for unexplained seizures. (2 in less then 2 months with no prior history in the family) The Doctors and staff were subpar and lazy at best. The symptoms didn’t match febrile seizures but no one could be bothered to ACTUALLY take care of my child. They dismissed her and moved in. They refused to do an EEG either time even after she was admitted for 3 days after the first seizure. I wouldn’t trust Hurley with mouse let alone my child’s life. Experiencia fantástica: I can not say it enough! My experience EVERY time with EVERY employee has been near flawless and perfect. My entire pregnancy and the birth of my child was absolutely wonderful. Nurses, residents, doctors, emergency room staff, admitting receptionist, obgyn receptionist Tiffany, lab technicians, anesthesiologist, and the main residents that helped me during my birthing experience. Macy, Manny and another gal I didn’t catch her name. Yes, I listed them by first name because that’s how comfortable they made me feel!

Experiencia negativa: So let me start out by saying, if this was my one and only visit, this would be a 1 star review. However I've had a few very good experiences in non emergent situations, including the birth of 2 of my children and a surgery for myself. However this last experience today in the emergency room waiting area was ridiculous. My wife, who is a fitness freak, who rarely goes to the doctor and hardly ever complains of ailments was having some severe abdominal pain. Sure it doesn't sound like much but generally she's a trooper. This put her on the floor crying. So we went to hurley to get her seen. This was mistake number 1. We get there and the waiting room is very light compared to its normal occupancy. We get her checked in. Eventually we get brought back to triage. They take her vitals. She's in pain the whole time and then they stick back in the waiting room. 2 hours go by. She doesn't complain. I can see the discomfort and as any man knows, when you see it you can feel it. So after 2 hours of this I go to the desk and ask how long is the wait for a room to start testing. They had no idea. They wouldn't even bother checking. On top of this they stated "that's not on us" I assume meaning it's not their job. At that point I was sure this was a mistake. I pulled the truck up and we bounced over to McLaren Lapeer. We were in immediately and testing started within 10 minutes. The staff was kinder, and had way better bedside manner. We are waiting on test now. What I learned from this is that when it counts the most in an emergency hurley starts to fall short. If your not a trauma victim plan on a long wait. To the staff of Hurley patient care is everyone's job in the Healthcare field. I was a combat Medic in the army and I worked EMS for 6 years in Flint bringing many patients to Hurley myself, before working law enforcement for 7 years after that even then my patient care continued. So to hear someone getting paid by a hospital who is the first contact at the door say "it's not on me" is absolutely incomprehensible. It is on you, you have to determine how serious is their case using only your eyes And ears. Update: In response to yours, How do you know what is life-threatening And not when no test have been done or even started? Vitals can lie in regards to homeostasis.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a great experience here! I’ve only been here twice one when I was a baby and was just born and the other time which this one I actually remember, a few months ago in June when I got my tonsils and adenoids out, the doctors were nice funny and caring and made me feel a lot better, I got in and out of there pretty quick and the surgery and it’s recovery went great! Thank you Hurley!

Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic ER! I broke my fibula bone and had to go to the ER. The orthopedic surgeons were really cool and so were the nurses. They all encouraged me that everything would be okay. The only bad thing was the wait.

Experiencia fantástica: My wife, who is desperately ill, and I find Hurley to be almost astoundingly professional, efficient, and patient centered. We have experience with many other hospitals, none of which have impressed me more. We have both been admitted there. Emergent, progressive, and intensive care are exceptional. I am sad to see the less than positive reviews, but they are not babysitters or maids. They take medicine very seriously.

Experiencia fantástica: Cancer Center; Very professional doctors & nurses that saved my life from prostate cancer 16 years ago. Cannot rate them any higher. Men get your blood checked every year after age 45 as there are no symptoms of this disease as it is curable with early detection as in my case. Get to see your grandkids grow up. Amen

Experiencia fantástica: Overall a bad experience with a good ending. The bathrooms were rather gross on the ER but other than that a great hospital for children. I'd recommend them over anyone for kids. Jennifer Garcia was amazing!!!! And all the ladies on 2 East ♡☆♡☆

Experiencia fantástica: Hurley Med Center is one of the best Hospitals in in he world. My son was born 2 months early and had an intestinal problem. After they flew a surgeon for Lansing to operate, he had what are called adhesion s ( the intestines grow together.) He was there for 3+ months. Today he still has problems, but is healthy and the care was exceptional. Babies from U of M in Ann Arbor are sent to Hurley. I have never been more satisfied with a Hospital.

Experiencia fantástica: My spouse is from England and while I was in the UK, my mother became very sick with an infection. She was in ICU and heavily sedated while on life support. It was harrowing for me to be so far away from my mom overseas. I called to check on her and was greeted by professional and caring nurses each and every time. They gave me straight answers, and they were sympathetic as to my feelings. My mom is not out of the woods yet, but she is improving. By the time I fly home she should be on her way to recovery. I found the staff to be very helpful and considerate. My sister and visitors were also very impressed with my mother's care.

Experiencia fantástica: Hurley Hospital saved my mother's life. She had been to Michigan Vascular and McLaren, no help, no change. They just kept doing the same thing over and over and not finding the real problem. My mother went to Dr. Almaroof, and he fixed her arm and we had no problems since. Hurley use to be a bad hospital in the past, but it has changed, they are the best now. McLaren use to be the best, but not anymore. They don't care. Give Hurley a try again, because they care and will really find what's wrong with you.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband had surgery there and the nurses who took care of him were awesome!! The RN on 3rd shift went above and beyond for the roommate, who was extremely demanding. All the staff and doctors were helpful and took good care of him.

Experiencia fantástica: My dad received care yesterday evening through today at Hurley, and I want to share some highlights on his quality of care. While the wait was long, this is expected given the staffing shortages many hospitals face and the increased number of patients seeking medical care. I do not fault Hurley for the length of the wait because this is a universal problem, and everyone is doing their best under these circumstances. I first want to hightlight an absoltuely outstanding RN who cared for my dad in the emergency room, Jenna. Jenna’s bedside manner was genuine, empathetic, and caring. Jenna was able to ensure that my dad received the care he needed, while creating a safe space where my dad felt a sense of ease. Jenna also ensured I was comfortable while we waited and offered me a warm blanket and something to drink, checking in often. She even went out of her way to grab me a hot coffee since it was 4 am and the cafeteria was closed. Our stay was long in the ER until he was admitted; however, I felt confident my dad was in the best of hands during this time. Jenna, if you see this, thank you for being such a light by showing true compassion for your patients and a sense of warmth. Your nurturing approach to my dad made the most significant impact on him when he was feeling confused and unsure. Both doctors who treated my dad in the ER were professional and thorough. They ensured they gave my dad the tests and medical care he needed. Our second ER doctor talked with me about my dad's condition and any concerns. They were also wonderful. Once my dad was admitted to the hospital, we switched nurses and had Pete. Pete was kind, compassionate, and attentive to my dad. He offered his hand when my dad became emotional and gave my dad reassurance that he was in a safe space. He was friendly and made my dad feel more comfortable. Thank you, Pete! All of the nursing staff and doctors that we interacted with during his stay were really amazing. Everyone has different experiences at hospitals, and not everything will be perfect; however, I was incredibly moved and impressed by the fantastic care he received from Jenna, Pete, the ER doctors, and other nursing staff.
