Experiencia negativa: They’re a biiig fan of patient dumping. My grandmother who suffers from Alzheimer’s was there for not even 2 months and they evicted her. There was no notice before hand so we, the family, could make other arrangements for her. Now we’re scrambling to find care for her. What an awful facility. Shame on them. She needed help and they kicked her out.

Experiencia negativa: This place was a living nightmare. They messed with medicines that could have easily killed my mother. Someone had to be there daily to make sure nothing was happening. The staff is hateful except for one male nurse. They failed to clean her after she went to the bathroom, it was really bad. She ended up with a UTI that was antibiotic resistant and she actually nearly died yesterday with her BP being 58/36. Minutes from death we got her to the hospital just in time. Further proof it was them...today I was told there was ecoli in her bloodstream. Currently I can't even communicate with my mother. She can't keep her eyes open for more than a couple seconds. This is all terrifying, and I will never forgive this place. Please PLEASE if you have the option to go elsewhere do it! The only positive thing I can say is they seemed to have a pretty good therapy area, not that my mom got to use it but maybe a couple minutes. She arrived due to an MS attack.

Experiencia fantástica: A big shout out to Marquita Mason a COTA at Legacy for referring us to this rehab facility for my husband. She is such a great person and was always checking on him. The Physical therapy and Occupational therapy is exceptional. They got my husband the help he needed to be able to come back home.They have a great staff in every department from the Office, Housekeeping, Tech Nurses dietary etc . I recommend this place for rehab.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been a part of Legacy’s physical and occupational therapy outpatient program for almost a year. I currently receive occupational therapy three times a week at my house. They are great people to work with. Their maintenance program is one of a kind as far as I know. For the first time in a long time, I've gotten PT and OT consistently for more than just a few weeks at a time. Short time frames are usually par for the course when dealing with insurance and PT/OT programs. Thanks to Legacy working with Medicare, I can be on maintenance and receive therapy consistently. if you know anyone who struggles with Mobility, Or needs rehab. I would highly recommend calling them.

Experiencia positiva: I worked with Legacy as an outpatient first. Megan oversaw my therapy with great detail. She and Anne got me transferring out of bed and walking. They worked carefully with my panic attacks and got me moving. I was also an inpatient for a couple of months. My stay was as made as pleasant as possible by all of the staff. The CNA's taking care of me treated me as if I were their grandmother. All the staff, including office, treated me with dignity. The room was very nice and the food was great. I would choose Legacy again.

Her therapy was just what they needed to get better and be able to go home. They had a nice, sweet and great COTA Megan Groen that gave her excellent therapy to get them back on their feet. Give this place a try.

Experiencia fantástica: It just comes down to people, every time. Are there people at Legacy you can count on to take care of somebody you love? If you go there and talk with Legacy staff then you’ll know in your gut if you can trust them or not with your loved one. I’ve done that and I do trust them. Give it a try.

Experiencia negativa: Very low budget nursing home. Took my mom out to attend a funeral and had little help getting her to the car. After the funeral we went to take her back and struggled with the doors. After entering the building there was the receptionist and a staff member sitting in the lobby watching us struggle with the wheelchair, flower arrangement, gallon of tea and my mom’s supper. Once inside never got a hi or sorry we didn’t see you coming. Obviously they saw us and did nothing to help us enter easily. Thankfully my mom has 3 more days there. Once back to the room I looked at her supper tray and it was a dried up 2 ounce pork chop, half of a tomato and some over cooked noodles without sauce. I know Medicare pays more than this nursing home is providing. If you have another option then GO somewhere else.

Experiencia fantástica: I was in this facility last week and got to meet some of their team, they were very professional and seemed to care about what they're doing. Really friendly staff overall and nice environment!

Experiencia negativa: My Dad recently spent a week at this facility and it was awful. When my Mom went to pick him up the staff was not able to locate his wheelchair, and convinced my Mom to take a different one. Additionally, on the day she was going to pick him up, the facility called and asked her to bring him clean clothes. Apparently all of his clothes had been sent to be laundered. My first question is why, if you know a patient is leaving, why would you not have their clothes cleaned and ready? Then, after learning that none of my Dad’s clothes were with him and telling my family them’d need to come back to retrieve them, my Mom is told they can’t locate his toiletry bag. Now, answer me this, how do you loose a patient’s toiletries? Would you not assume personal care items would be left in the patient’s room? What reason would these items be removed? Please tell me his items were not being used on other patients. I can’t even think about how unsanitary this is. What better way to spread germs than sharing personal hygiene items. Regarding his clothes, my Mom has been back at least two times and has still not received all of his clothing. Unfortunately, I do not live in Amarillo, and I am not able to physically go to the place and demand my Dad’s personal belongings back. I will, however, be filing a complaint with the state. I hope that anyone else who has experienced the less than expected care of your loved one to do the same. Places like this will continue to operate at subpar standards until they are forced to change. My Dad has Alzheimer’s and thankfully doesn’t remember his time here. If the staff looses his wheelchair, clothes and toiletries how can I even begin to believe they can provide quality care?

Experiencia negativa: They leave them either in a wheelchair or in a wet bed. My mom came home with fingerprin bruises all on her legs.That place is inhuman. They called my mom crazey,she is still very smart and pays all of her own bills. They even told her if she trys to leave,she will be thrown in jail. No wonder old folks want to die.

Experiencia fantástica: My mom was in this facility for a few months for rehab. The care she received was fantastic. Calls were answered in a timely manner. Staff was very friendly and professional with her, and my family as well. If I had to choose a rehab or long-term facility for a family member in the future, I would choose Legacy again.

Experiencia negativa: My experience is with the memory care area of the facility due to a loved one living there. If you're looking for a place for a loved one, please do your research. Google search this facility and see the state ratings for it and areas that have been problems. Take a tour and ask to see a room in the area you're looking at. The website, Facebook page, nor the commercial used for advertising on local stations provides a single picture of the nursing home or memory care area for the facility. Instead you will see pictures of the entrance area and "game" area, as well as staff and rehab pictures including rooms. The rooms for the nursing home and memory care area are stale. This is a Medicaid facility, but rooms could still be updated and nice. In the memory care area the dressers provided in rooms are very used. They are scratched up and missing drawer handles. The floor in my loved ones room was always sticky. Blankets are old and thin, and they're from the BSA hospital. Laundry is constantly lost even if a name and room number is clearly marked on the item. My loved one lost many items from comforters to clothes. When I visited, which my visits were at least an hour long, I was able to observe staff and residents. I observed very little staff engagement. There is virtually no brain stimulating activities in this area of the building. Residents do a lot of just sitting around. Residents seem to end up in wheelchairs instead of continuing to walk around. Very little exercise is provided as there is only one hallway to walk up and down and it's very short. There is a walking path outside but residents are not allowed to go outside by themselves so they have to wait on a staff member to assist them. Staff tends to sit behind the nurses station and visit amongst themselves or are always on their cellphones. There are times that I have not seen a staff member visible and residents are left alone in the congregate area, which doubles as their dining room/TV room. Staff turnover very high. There have been some great staff members through the years, but they eventually get transferred to a different area or they leave the facility.

Experiencia negativa: My father was taken to this facility for skilled nursing post feeing tube placement and in less than 6 hours in he was back at the hospital in cardiac ICU for aspirating. The staff did not assess him, they did not read his orders, they said “they didn’t know he had a PEG tube”, he is non verbal and even that didn’t trigger a single person to do their due diligence. He was NPO for swallowing issues and was served a food tray. Total neglect and incompetence on the nurse, administrator, and DON. They have absolutely no compassion when it comes to residents and their overall well-being. They are currently looking to discharge him now because he is a liability. I guess asking healthcare facilities to actually provide care to those in need is a lost art in this world. The administration is the exact problem with healthcare today, all dollar signs and no care. I myself have been a nurse for nearly 15 years and there is absolutely no way I would recommend this facility for your family.

Experiencia negativa: While the care our loved one received during their stay was less than positive due to a Covid outbreak and extreme isolation of the patient, the staff or one staff member has involved herself in our family members life in a highly unethical manner. This person has all the hallmarks of a scammer who engages flattery, expressions of love, comes to our family members home, brings children to visit, offers medical advice and recommendations for care in opposition to what the family has engaged, given a large some of money to our family member and finally….offered that she will care for our family member in her end days in exchange for all of our family members assets. This staff has of course done these things without consultation with family caregivers. She has instructed our family member not to trust the advice and support of her family caregivers. It is my understanding that this staff left the facility, however is returning to their employ. This behavior violates ethical boundaries and exploits a very vulnerable and helpless individual in a most nefarious manner.

Experiencia negativa: I work here two times and both times it was the same patient was not out first. Patient are left dirty and the buildingos left dirty and they take forever to do personal laundry and they lose it. They can't even keep enough briefs or linen in the building to last all day. This place is not safe right now to put anyone in there. So don't put your love ones in here unless you believe the lies they tell you.

Experiencia negativa: I've had two friends in Legacy and both were not given the care they needed. Had to beg for help, hours before any staff checked on them, balked when time to bathe, brought meds late. Was hard to find any staff to get out of the locked doors I wouldn't want to be there as a resident ever. !!!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: My grandmother lives at Legacy and she loves it there. The staff is intentional with their residents and the families who take care of their loved ones. It is a wonderful place to live and to be apart of.

Experiencia negativa: My mother was sent here at the end of September with orders from the hospital for iv antibiotics to treat a uti. She was getting a lot better in the hospital. The nurse “over looked” that part of her discharge paperwork. Seven days later we called for an ambulance to pick her up. The staff was furious and refused to talk to the paramedics because they weren’t the ones who called them. The paramedics told me she was in really bad shape. She went into kidney failure and was septic. Her weakened immune system lead to her catching covid. She died a month later. If legacy would have done there job my mother never would have been exposed to covid and would still be alive today.

Experiencia positiva: My mother seems to be receiving excellent care and for that I am truly grateful. What IS concerning is the fact that, no matter what time of day or evening they very seldom answer the phone. No matter what extention I try from the automated system I still get no answer. I sat in my car directly outside of their front door to sign some medical consent forms today for about 15 minutes. After trying to get through via phone about 5 times with 0 success, I finally had to go inside-which I did not want to do as my roommate has Covid.

Experiencia negativa: My grandmother was not given her medication and went into kidney failure. The staff would not listen to her when she said that she was supposed to be on antibiotics and it was in the orders sent from the hospital.

Experiencia fantástica: I am a current resident at legacy. I absolutely love the staff here. They are all very caring people who make me feel like family. They are always finding ways to make me laugh and brighten my days. They truly go out of their way to make you feel at home. The amount of activities they provide keeps me going, they even taught me how to play dominoes! The therapy team helps me to achieve my goals. It's a wonderful place with very loving staff!

Experiencia negativa: Horrible,,found my husband dead, left for little over an hour,,they said they had checked on him 15 minutes prior but that's a lie a body dont get hard and blue in 15 minutes...dont send your loved ones there. The administration ask me later if he could make things better. Lol yeah bring my husband back..the food looked like dog food...

Experiencia positiva: Mom mother is in here now and it is cold!! We have told the staff many times in the last 24 hours, one man did try to close the vents but it didnt help any!! I am hardly ever cold but I'm freezing right now...all they said was it's in a lock box and would you like some blankets? My mom has 8 on her now!! Sat. I was here it was so hot I thought I would pass out!! No maintenance person on staff?? And we brought food from home ...moms a picky eater...they wouldn't allow us to use the microwave! We took the soup to Toot n Totum and had to warm it there. I put 3 stars but may adjust that later!

Experiencia fantástica: The staff is friendly and doing their best. As with most nursing homes the turn over is high. But there are a few dedicated staff members who are there with a calling.

Experiencia positiva: I was a resident for nearly 2-1/2 years and left because I needed more acute nursing and therapy services which Legacy could not provide. Had it not been for that I'd still be there. The facility underwent a massive remodeling of the inside and outside, with the exception of the resident's rooms. With the remodeling, the new therapy gym is amazing! I can't say enough positive things about it. Following my below-the-knee amputation, I was able to regain the mobility I lost while bedridden following a hospital stay. My therapists got me mobile again and I was able to transfer from my wheelchair to the bed, mat, or toilet. I learned how to dress myself and to get in and out of my car and go places in the community with my daughter. Their staff is super friendly and helpful. If only they had more CNA'S working on each unit. I believe they had too many residents to care for and do showers too. Because of the resident to staff ratio, they had trouble keeping staff. And I'm told they paid the lowest in town. The only problem I had with the staff is that some of my belongings or money was stolen. And some of my nicer clothes went 'missing'. Activities Dept is the best in town! They were blessed to have the best activities director imaginable, but I've since learned that she resigned and left. But while i was there she arranged for some awesome activities such as bingo, bowling, Wal-Mart, out-to-eat at a restaurant, Christmas light tour from the facility's van, arts and crafts, movies, and so much more. Their new activities director has continued where Kelly left off. Their dietary dept was average. They provided a good supply of snacks and their food sometimes was bland and boring. It did get better after the remodeling and change of chefs/staff. Overall, this place doesn't deserve a low score. If this place would pay a little more to keep their newly hired employees it would benefit everyone. And if they'd put 3-4 CNA'S per unit depending on census, they'd be able to provide excellent care.
