Experiencia negativa: The people are rude. They don’t know what they’re doing. They messed up my medicine change it around and now I’m having trouble getting it straightened out. I wouldn’t send my dog to that place. The food is terrible. They don’t give you enough and it’s terrible. My dog probably wouldn’t need it. The beds are terrible. You can’t sleep on them. The CNA‘s are rude and don’t wanna do anything for the most part. There was three or four of them that was pretty good. I wish I had some photos to share with you.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff at this location are so helpful and pleasant. My experience with this facility has been so much better that I ever expected. It is clean and free from odor. There are lots of activities and the residents are all friendly and welcoming to new people. The Director of Nursing is the best that I have ever seen. All in all a 5 star facility

Experiencia negativa: I wish I could give a negative-star! My uncle was suffering in extreme physical pain and the staff refused to call the doctor for stronger meds. They said the Doctor had gone home and still they refused to call. My uncle died the next morning. There is clearly a moral issue with the staff and leadership on site. Shame on them. They made a kind & wonderful man suffer unnecessarily.

Experiencia positiva: I WAS BROUGHT THERE FROM CENTERPOINT MEDICAL CENTER FOR REHAB WHICH I DID NOT NEED WHICH IS IS GOOD BECAUSE THEIR ENTIRE REHAB AREA WAS CLOSED DUE TO "UNDER CONSTRUCTION". I WAITED FOR TWO MORE DAYS FOR THEM TO FILL OUT PAPERWORK SO I COULD GO HOME. THE WOMAN WHO WHEELED ME IN TOLD ME, "HONEY, YOU BETTER HAVE SOMEONE PICK UP ANYTHING VALUBLE BECAUSE THEY WILL ROB YOU BLIND HERE." THAT WAS AN INTERESTING COMMENT TO SOMEONE JUST ARRIVING TO THEIR ROOM.

Experiencia fantástica: I was Director of Nursing at Monterey Park from 2010 to 2016. I came back a few months ago and it was the best decision I made. It's good to be back home. With our great team we will make a difference in the lives of others.

Experiencia negativa: My mom went in because she could not walk after a month of rehabilitation the doctor says she is ready to go home.Still using a hoyler lift for transferring from wheelchair to bed. My mom turns the call light on and it takes for ever for someone to come and check on her. If you care about your family members I would think twice before using this facility

Experiencia negativa: Nurses and therapist for the most part were super friendly, but the doctor not so much. My mom went in there with no strength, Dr. evaluated her walking no more than 10 steps he agreed with insurance company she should be released. But the nurses and physical therapist agreed with family, that she should stay another 2 weeks. I would not recommend this place. It's all about insurance nowadays. And she fell less than 48 hours after discharge.

Experiencia negativa: The absolute most incompetent group of people I have ever met. How they keep a license to stay open is beyond me. My mother was severely neglected, lost 40 pounds in the 2 months she was there. If I had not called 911 and had her taken to the hospital, they would have killed her.

Experiencia positiva: I recently left a bad review on here. But after several days, it has gotten significantly better. The issues I was having was due to one particular individual but has since been resolved. Of course every facility has it's flaws, but the overall care has been much better than when I first arrived, therefore I had to update my review to a more positive one.

Experiencia negativa: Not impressed. Care was very nonchalant, in two weeks, bed linens never touched or changed. Food was terrible, missing items (served butter or jelly with no bread), not diet appropriate. Discharge was not informative, sent home insulin without instruction or needles. Patient had never took insulin at home prior. I could continue but they need help getting it together. Staff was friendly most of the time although took a couple hours to see anyone if nurse button was pushed. Overall disappointing.

Experiencia fantástica: I was placed here from my hospital as they told me this was a good spot to heal with skilled nursing. They were right. It’s clean and quite responsive to my needs as I am bedridden and a bit helpless (for now). The director/manager sees me each day as do therapists of all totally professional fields. Everyone I have met has been kind and compassionate and caring. I feel like I’m in good caring hands. I trust them to get me back on my feet and back in the game of life. I watch them taking care of the elderly and have seen firsthand the care given these somewhat infirmed folks. I would describe it as respect and gentleness. The room is the clean and large and the cable worksLike any facility of this type the food is always in the forfront of anyone staying here. But it is healthy and timely albeit the manager said she is always searching for improvement. That’s an attitude I appreciate. I have been seen by the sharp resident doctor and her nurse practio So here I am for a few weeks. I’ll keep you posted. Ric delaney room 505.

Experiencia fantástica: Excellent company to work for, they have corporate knowledge & know costumer service for employees & residents along with having the nursing knowledge to run a successful nursing facility.

Experiencia negativa: I would give it zero stars but I can’t! This place is straight up elderly abuse! Ive never seen anything like it! They are super understaffed . And you have to ask them for your meds each time or they don’t give it to you! They didn’t disclose that they had a Covid outbreak before my mother was transferred there, not until she was literally in her room. Now my mother has tested Covid positive from their facility. She was tested the first day and was negative. It came from this facility who has an entire hallway plastic covered to the Covid patients but none of this was mentioned for us to make a decision to not move her In there. Total neglect ! Then we moved her to the hospital because of her Covid because they don’t treat their patients for Covid in there ,! What a surprise! And they wouldn’t even bring her belongings to the front . Here is a health facility spreading Covid even more by not bringing the stuff to the front and having you enter back into the facility. Way to go! Never again! I wouldn’t recommend to bring your worst enemy in there! Not fit for a dog! DON’T DO IT!

Experiencia negativa: I wouldn't recommend Monterey Park to anyone. If they are short staffed quit adding people for CARE then. If anyone does come to the room it seems to be putting them out. If you hire people, hire someone willing to work for reasons other than for pay checks. I have only met one employee with the attitude of wanting to help. The young lady in physical therapy is only one I can trust so far in this place. I really don't feel like I am safe or going to move forward in my plan to return home again. I think this place has one policy. That's to make people have to stay inside of the place as long as possible, if not for the rest of their lives

Experiencia negativa: Do not ever allow your love one to go here. My mom was there for rehab. I have a 7 page list of all the horrible things they did and didn't do. The worst is letting her sit in her urine for who knows how long. She her clothes and bed soaked. I would go visit her for about 3 hours every evening and I would have to change her. I could go on and on. WORST PLACE EVER. I feel so sorry for the people that are still there.

Experiencia negativa: CNAs have never asked my dad if he needs a shower. They are supposed to every morning. Joshay doesn't hide that she doesn't like her job. She has an aggressive way of cleaning my dad! It takes over 30 minutes for the real nurse to be told by CNA that meds are needed. Cleaning only happens by request if that. If I need these services I will look elsewhere! Update: Nurse Kelly called in cuz staff issues. Nurse Joe quit cuz no CNAs showing up! Everyone in my dad's hall got Covid from this place! Get it together!

Experiencia positiva: The staff at Monterey are the most pleasant and kind associates. They are at times shorthanded but are always working hard and dedicated to the patients. Mom has always had clean sheets and bedding. She does not like much of the food that is served. They have a daily paper that is really great.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give this 0 stars I would. This place is horrible! My 97 year old mother in law has a broken hip and a night nurse told her to get-up-and-go to the bathroom by herself. The head staff and front desk are rude and harassing, yelling at people for masks when their staff don't wear masks or they have them below their chin. What a joke. They yelled at me because I was taking a drink out of the drinking fountain and told me to pull my mask up. Really how do you take a drink with a mask on? Just really hateful ignorant people working there. I wouldn't send my dog there.

Experiencia positiva: I would like to give credit to the staff at Monterey Park. A friend of ours was there for six years, and more recently, my husband was there for three months. The staff at Monterey really cares, and we need to remember that most of them are doing a job most of us wouldn't pursue. Sharon and the other nurses and aides there do a great job. Pat has been there 29 years and that speaks well for working for them. We need to show thankfulness and compassion for these hard working RN's, LPN's and aides. They bring dignity to elderly people whose health has deteriorated.

Experiencia negativa: communication b/t staff apparently doesn't happen; what you are assured on coming in--we'll dress her daily, for example--proved not to be true; half the time if her bedclothes have been removed, clean bedclothes are not forthcoming so she naps without a sheet on the bed or a pillowcase on the pillow unless a family member is there to force the issue; many staff seem well-intentioned and a few actually are Earth-angels, but overall the staff appear stretched too thin to supply my loved one with the look-in she needs every hour or so. Food ain't bad, though.

Experiencia negativa: This facility would only be preferable to homelessness or imminent death. The nursing staff is underpaid/under appreciated to the point that they aren't able to be good caregivers. The operations and admin staff were downright cruel in how they were more concerned with their bottom dollar than resident care. The care seemed haphazard and getting updates on rehab progress were like pulling teeth. There was no clear alignment amongst departments and no clear plan of care. After our mother passed away there, they failed to be any more helpful or even compassionate. If you have any other option PLEASE choose them for the sake of the resident

Experiencia negativa: My father in law has been in and out of the rehab side for about 2 years. We loved it and thought they had good care. We are getting to the point of long term living and wanted to find out more information on placing him there. My husband called last week and the admission person was short and told him to call back closer to when he will be admitted for pricing. Originally we were looking to place around May. Thing have gotten worse at home and he needs placement in a couple weeks. I have left a request for more information on their website and places 2 calls this week for information. The last time I called today I was told she was in a meeting. This has been a horrible decision to make as it is. And they are not helpful in anyway to help. We were waiting on their quote to place him but sad to say they probably lost our business. We are going to be spending a large amount each month to get this kind of treatment. It shouldn’t take this long to get back and at least speak to a potential resident. Shame on you Monterrey Park.

Experiencia negativa: HORRIBLE! I wouldn’t leave my worst enemy in their care! A relative was their for rehab after a hospital stay and was informed of concerns and needs for the patient and was completely ignored and calls by family were avoided. It got so bad the patients family doc got involved and had to read not him in hospital. He will not go back there ever! I would not recommend this place at all! -5 ⭐️

Experiencia positiva: Long story but my husband had a massive stroke in June and did acute and skilled nursing rehab then ended up in the hospital again in Oct and did skilled nursing again. We chose Monterey Park in Indep because they rated well on rehab. Let me tell you, if your loved one is at all a complicated recovery with their disability, don't go to Monterey. He has wasted a month of his rehab time with them. Time is precious when you're trying to come back from a stroke. They were only interested in teaching him to stand and sit. He needed to be walking! John Knox was MUCH better at working to improve his lot. At least once he gets home, he will have Village Home Health (John Knox) coming to the house and once again working on getting some function back. Not just teaching him to transfer from one chair to another. The day before his last day he got no PT and OT only put his compression glove and splint on his hand. His last day there, they refused to do any PT or OT with him and wouldn't even talk to him because they said he was "discharged yesterday". Clearly not. He is sitting in front of you. Pathetic. This after I left social services a message the day before saying I wanted him to have a full load of PT / OT on his last day. The rating system doesn't cover rehab which is my only bad grade for this facility. Rehab was inconsistent at best. The CNA's, nurses and office staff are great. The rooms are lovely but the food is marginal. Cant rate value, his insurance was 100% pay EDIT: I would like to add that Darlene from Monterey Park called me this morning about this posted review. I can honestly say that her call was an honest attempt to find out about the problems, explain some behind the scenes procedures and plans they are putting into place to solve some of the very problems we experienced. I told her that I was not upset with any of her daily care staff as all were very kind. But I felt that there was no communication between me (family) and the pt staff. No updates. No planned care meetings. No attempt to meet the goals we had set when we met the social worker. I felt my husband was beyond their level of care and she said she disagreed. So it was a good conversation. Any facility that fields complaints with this kind of fact finding truly cares and is trying to constantly improve. Well done.

Experiencia fantástica: As a Geriatric nurse, I am loving working at Monterey Park. The other nurses are helpful, friendly and fun to work with, as well as competent. The nurse aids are kind, respectful and hard-working. Everyone knows their job and works together to give great care for the wonderful residents who call Monterey Park their home. It feels like family. The administration is very approachable and problem solves with you. The greater corporate entity, Tutera seems to have working systems in place to make everyone's experience go as smoothly as possible. I am proud to be with Monterey Park.

Experiencia positiva: Was Monterey Park Rehab Center for Rehab the rehab people we're great to work with very caring and always smiling feel like I got great care there the food was good you had a choice of what you wanted to eat every meal most of the CNAs we're always smiling and asking if you needed anything else while they was there most of the nurses was very caring I feel like it was a great place to get my rehab talk some people was there a long-term care and they said they enjoyed it there I feel like this to be a great place to go if I had to go back for everything

The family is very grateful to the staff as they kept our father and grandfather comfortable, and the family informed.

Experiencia fantástica: My mother was admitted into the rehab facility 12/26/19 and was recently released on 1/13/20. I can't thank the staff of Monterey Park enough as this entire process was the easiest from getting the paperwork completed to transfer her from the Hospital, to the discharging and bringing her home. Involved, caring and patient staff, greeted us each and every time we visited, through out all different hours of every day. They really took care of our mother as we would and it made it a little easier knowing that. If at all, any of your loved ones need to be admitted into any facility, this should be your first pick.

Experiencia fantástica: I came to Monterey Park because i needed therapy for my hip and leg. My experience while here was that everyone was extremely helpful, caring, compassionate. I do feel that the therapy department was wonderful in providing me rehab services. The nursing department i felt really took my care and my well being to heart. Nursing staff was so helpful and knowledgeable about my particular issue. I was on what they call the rehab unit or north i guess, and there was this one nurse Justin, who was the Director of Nursing i think, he was wonderful, any issue that i had he met with me and addressed them and was constantly following up with me, that place needs more of nurses like him, ive never in all my years had a nurse like him. Nick was another nurse who was great. So smart, helpful, caring and i constantly observed him helping everyone on my hall. The food was not for my personal liking as i felt it was too greasy. Overall, i would HIGHLY recommend Monterey Park if you are needing rehab. Yeah, they arent perfect, but they are so quick to respond and correct any concerns.

Experiencia fantástica: I stayed at this facility for short term rehab a total of 10 days after being released from the hospital. All rooms are private. The facility is clean and well run. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and available at all times. They even let us bring our dog in daily for daily visits. It was a very positive experience. I would recommend Monterey Park to anyone needing short term rehabilitation.

Experiencia positiva: I worked here from October 2018 to July 2019. I resigned due to not seeing eye to eye on my personal health. I really enjoyed working here though... I have to say. I was a cna on rehab side. Watched patcients get better and go home. To be apart of someones recovery is one of the best rewards anyone can give you. Always remeber we are there to take care of our older generations. For the other reviews and all reviews on long-term care, rehabilitation centers, and assisted living facility... You are right. You probably did walk in ONE day and your love ones trash is full, you did see empty water mug on your fathers bed side table, and yes a loved one missed a shower day. For that I truley apolgize. Maybe the cna couldnt pull the trash because somebody was getting sick or coding. Your love one will get water filled up but at the moment its shift change and day shift cna is giving evening shift cna report of important information about your loved ones health. After 2 rounds or more of rehab, dinner, and now 8pm at night your loved one refused their shower because they are tired. Instead of placing blame on the facilty look at the big picture. Everywhere we are short staffed. We need more staff at every facilty. Monterey Park rehabilitation Center is a beautiful facility. Its up todate with rooms, eltronic charting, and the rehabilitation gym is unreal! I would eat the food all the time and loved it. The CNA's, charge nurses, rehabilitation, MDS, dietary, and house keeping. Wanted to tell you I see how hard your working, still smiling, and enjoyed working with majority of you. Experiencia fantástica: Although we were very nervous about leaving our Mom here or anywhere, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone was so kind to her and to us. I feel like she got the care she needed at all times. Thank you Monterey Park staff!

Experiencia negativa: Went to visit and the urine smell almost knocks you out. 4 people share 1 bathroom. Patients are left alone, in the dining hall and in the bathroom. Needs some cleaning and it is decorated like a daycare. I wish my friend was not there. The staff is childish and does not interact well with patients. I also noticed the staff smoking with patients. Would not recommend.

Experiencia negativa: John Burton I have to agree with you. Night shift is full of this behavior. CNA's that disappear don't answer their call lights. Staff nowhere to be found nurses included. There are a few hard working CNA's and Nurses that do their jobs. Answering their call lights and other call lights that aren't even theirs. Its amazing what you can see when you sit walk around and watch. I would think that the higher ups should just pop in and take a look to what's occuring on night shift! Might provide some enlightenment on their staff! I didn't know Nurses and CNA's have time to watch shows on their computers with all the lights going off! Makes me question if my loved one is in the right place? But they told me some do care and do their job and they do like the other residents there. I wanted to write those peoples names down that my loved one new that gave great care. But my loved one didn't want me to single them out and possible cause them issues. The few male staff my loved one and myself have seen and interacted with don't seem to have these issues. They are not mean to each other nor have I or my loved one seen or heard them behave with each other like these women and young women due. These men give good care. Very kind and compassionate.These young women are full of gossip and back stabbing! Yes we here you! Do you here our call lights?

Experiencia negativa: So sorry I sent my mother here. Very short staffed. My mother either didn’t get her medication at all, got it hours late or not the correct number of times. The food was totally unacceptable, was always served cold. On her last day there she was given chicken and broken up potato chips. Pretty bad for a heart patient. There are a lot of other places, do not send your loved one here!

Experiencia fantástica: I am so pleased that St.Marys be in Blue Springs told me about Montery Park. It seems to be a very caring place. It's nice and clean. They have been wonderful to my mother. The case worker was awesome about maybe having to us hospice when they release my mother.

Experiencia negativa: No!No!No!do not place your loved one here! This place is short staffed!! They do not get the rehab time they are supposed to get. They do not check on residents during the night. Come in at 4am to empty trash. Do not change bed linens. It took me three days to get my father a shower because it wasn’t shower day. His room had a broken chair and broken bedside tray table after 3 days of asking he got a new one they took the one that had been in his room directly to the trash. The only positive thing I can say is the food was good.

Experiencia negativa: On my tour the staff was rude. The admission director who gave me a tour was just a bad, acted if she didn't want to shake my hand or answer my question. One of the shower rooms she showed me was not clean & smiled of mildew & when I asked her about it she said she didn't smell anything. She never gave me any materials concerning price or anything regarding the facility nor ask for information from me. The worst tour & first impression. The receptionist was just as bad, as I stood at the desk waiting to be greeted she just looked at me. I had to address her.
