Experiencia negativa: Negligent care. While this is a beautiful facility and the staff seem nice, they did not provide adequate care to my brother. In the 4 weeks he was with them, he went from weak but able to stand and walk, to bedridden, unable to turn over by himself, and in excruciating pain from being in the same position for weeks. He had a STAGE 4 bedsore that covered his entire backside and went all the way to the bone. He was admitted to the ER and ICU at the hospital and when BSA call the facility they denied knowing that he had a bedsore. Then they denied that it was bad. The Sepsis from this bedsore left him in excruciating pain and ultimately killed my brother. They are currently under investigation by the State of Texas for negligent care.

Experiencia negativa: My mother was there for less than 24hrs before she had to go back to the hospital. They “couldn’t figure out how to turn her oxygen machine on.” The next day my brother walked in, grabbed all of her stuff and left without being stopped or questioned one time. They failed us.

The facility is always clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The nurses and caregivers go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels safe, loved, and well taken care of. You can really tell they put their hearts into what they do. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a kind and professional environment for their loved ones.

All of the staff was amazing from admissions, nursing, CNAs, dietary to housekeeping and maintenance. It was pure joy seeing a smile on my mother’s face when I picked her up. I would definitely recommend ACSN and we will use them again. Thank you ACSN for taking excellent care of my mother we appreciate everyone’s kindness.

Experiencia fantástica: My sister was admitted there for 2 weeks of therapy. This place deserves five stars. All workers we had contact with where very nice and professional. The building was always very clean. Nurses excellent!!! Very tentative to the patients. We went for the Rehab program five stars to them also. The place is wonderful and where you should choose for your loved one. Our family was very happy we chose this facility!!! Thank you Melissa, Micheal-therapy and the social worker.

Experiencia negativa: Was there with my mother for 10 hours and no nurses or nurses aide never came in check on her. They are suppose to check every two hours never did it and use the call light we wait for 30 min no one ever answer her light we went out the to see that aides was sitting all on another hall talk with each and charge was just sitting at the nurse station face the listen to the call light goes off. Very poor care skill for patients.

Experiencia fantástica: Ashley, both Michael's and. Nurse Blue took outstanding care of me.. They kept me safe and took well care of me for 22 days. I have been in 5 rehabs and this was the best . They took better care of than my own family and if they will have me back I would be honored to live my remaining days there. They went above and beyond their duties for my care . I highly recommend this place for anyone that needs help and safe place to be to recover and become stronger. Best staff and place to be . Thank you all so much first time I felt at home since I was 16 and I was too stupid to see and wish I never left you guys care

Experiencia negativa: Why the owner is always sorry for everything i work there and i got fired for no reason i will tell you what happend that day one night i took someones place my shift was days so when i got there it was only the cooker and me i had to serve clean tables and wash dishes when i was serving i ask the admin if i could used paper plates and everything and she said so but when other employees work by them self they were allowed to used paper plates but not me so that night i had to do everything by my self and one of the mechanic was helping the nurses taking trays to the costumers on the tables that day the mechanic did ask me to give a salad i said ok i will give it to to just give me a secound and let me give those trays to them it won't take long and what pisst me off is that he said know i need it know by snapping his finger in my face and did say something to him because not even my parents would do that to me and i bet you neither wouldn't like no one treat you like that so i guess he had the right ti snap his finger in face and i got fired but he didnt so that means i got fired just because i defended myself from people like him iam never going back to that place to work ever again

Experiencia negativa: My nana is currently in here and she’s been crying everyday, hates it here. She’s only been here like 2 days and they seem like the don’t care, the seem like they “care”. There giving her meds without telling her what they are or what they do and expect her to take it anyway, she feels unwelcomed already, nobody’s talking to her, people are just barging into her room and she has no privacy. They literally walked in on her while she was naked, and to keep the door open. She can’t walk and everytime she has trouble with her wheelchair and it’s visible and nobody tried to help her and just turned a blind eye. I’ve hurt so many bad things about this place and I’m seeing it with my own eyes, they make her feel retarded when she’s not, she’s smart and capable of doing normal things but make her feel otherwise.

Experiencia fantástica: This establishment is nothing short of superb. From the rooms, the techs, the food, all the way to the administration. The entire place is so clean and bright. The staff goes above and beyond for the patients and residents here. I am certain the food is cooked by 5 star chefs, it is incredible! The physical and occupational therapists are just wonderful and genuinely care for each patient. The office staff is always present and reachable, along with helpful and caring. When my sweet little grandma was moved here for a hip replacement a bit ago, I was so worried. She came from a not so great place. However, this was the very best place she could ever be accepted to. She is truly thriving here! If you need a place that your loved one will be taken care of the way that you would take care of them, I urge you to apply here. I will forever sing the highest praises of Amarillo Center for Skilled Care.

Experiencia fantástica: There are so many great things about this place! The facility is newer and clean. It does not have that "nursing home" smell to it when you walk in the door or when you walk through the hallways. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Even when they're busy, they will take time to answer questions about your family member and their condition. The food has been amazing and the dietary manager comes in to ask you specifics about likes/dislikes. There is an appetizer served before lunch, as well. The meal services involves the entire facility - even managers and staff from the offices up front are in the dining room and up and down the halls serving meals. They all seem to genuinely enjoy interacting with the residents and the patients that are here. The therapy department is fantastic! They provide therapy every day except Sunday (the "day of rest"). There are 2 separate gyms and they have 9-10 therapists here most days. They are tough and want you to work hard, but they are also a lot of fun and really seem to love their jobs and their patients. I would recommend Amarillo Center for Skilled Care if you are looking for rehab or if you need your family member to have a place to live long term.

The office staff and procedures are straight out of horror book: understaff the facility and will straight up lie to your face. If your loved one is mobile and low maintenance, you will love the place. If your loved one needs bathed, changed, needs assistance, or attempts to hit the nurse help button (16 total patient care violations we documented) ... Find a new place, you are going to hate it. This place is pristine on the surface and a cluster 7#$@ hiding around every corner. Make sure you document, snap shot and video record everything you can. You might just need it.... Enter at your own risk.!!!! You've been warned!!!!

Experiencia negativa: This is not a center I would send a stroke victim to. Zero communication skills for the staff. One shift to the next has no clue what is going on. They made my mother worse in less than 7 days , had to send her back to the hospital due to an infection then had the nerve to call and say "gee sorry i don't feel we can care for your mother any longer" this was after a complaint was filed. Think long and hard before you send family here.

Experiencia fantástica: My Grandmother has been here for Rehab twice and the staff has always been very helpful. Everyone was eager to accommodate her needs to help her heal and recover. Since she has been home, her recovery has been a lot easier on all of us due to the care she received here. She is continually improving and I believe it stems from the passion and quality of care provided by Amarillo Center for Skilled Care.

Family was always welcome to come and visit with her or stay the night. We even had her birthday party in the dining room.

Experiencia negativa: At first sight, because the facility is spacious and there are posted things everywhere you want to like the place. Do not be deceived! I have no idea where these good reviews are coming from, it seems like from the staff as another reviewer commented. I have seen the horror from this place which is incredibly neglectful, residents have passed here and the families couldn’t even be told why because they hadn’t been checked on for hours! The residents are not heard at all nor the families who bring up issues. Call lights left unanswered, patients dropped, left unchanged, residents mocked, demeaning comments in front of the residents saying things I don’t want to repeat here (to protect the residents they might pin point from the comments who heard them)… They’re told “the issues will be investigated” and NOTHING happens. They’ve even been reported and nothing happens! The lack of empathy, disregard for residents, and the complete refusal to be corrected for the better is unbelievable! I don’t understand how this place is still operating. There needs to be a complete revamping of this facility done to get it through their heads that these are actual human beings, some who even fought for them to be here! Despicable! Do not leave your loved ones in the heartless, incapable, negligent hands of this staff.

Their patient focused approach truly makes this team stand out! Whether your loved one is here for a Rehab to Home short stay or is here to live long term, the therapists make genuine connections and work hard to ensure each patient/resident accomplishes their goals and has an improvement in their quality of life.

Experiencia negativa: I went for an interview with them. And I got hired, but when I went to HR. To find out what my pay was. I couldn't believe it. 14.75 for 20 years of experience as a med-aid. I can't make a living on that. I couldn't even afford insurance on that pay. That's why you and Georgia Manor, and 5 points can't keep your CNA's or med-aid's. Your company would rather pay a temp agency to come in and work at your facility then actually hire your own employees. Raise your pay! You might actually get people to work for you.

The HR staff when my dad would get confused and scared would call and threaten the family with a 30 day eviction if things didn't change and also, they called the police on him because they didn't want to deal with the situation. I finally had to get the VA involved to get my dad out of the horrible situation,

Experiencia negativa: First day there my mom calls me after 8 o'clock visiting hours, she was in tears because no one came to help her off of the toilet, asked to come home. My mother is in rehab due to a fall where she fractured 2 vertebra. While I was in the phone with her an employee was yelling at her about waiting and pulling the string, I assume the string to get the nurse to help her get up. I asked mother who was yelling and she stated this big Amazon woman who was a nurse. Mother said the woman scared her. I calmed mother down and told her I would call and talk to a staff member just to let them know she was having a hard time getting up and down. I called the number to the clinic 3 times and it rang about 10 times each time with no answer. I called again and the phone was picked up and then hung up. I called a fifth time and an elderly man answered the phone by saying hello, I asked if this was the Amarillo Center and he said yes, I asked him what his name was and he said Jerry. I talked to him at length and realized he was a resident and not a staff member, he said he accidentally hung up on me when I called before. I asked to speak to a staff member and he said no one was there right now. He asked me my mother's name and room number and he attempted to transfer me to her room phone about 5 times and never completed the transfer. I know that patients roam and that staff are busy, but I am fairly certain that this is a violation of HIPAA laws not to mention the privacy of the patients in the center as there are cameras in every room. I called my mother back and she had calmed down considerably, she did say again that she was frightened by the big woman, my mother worked in law enforcement for quite awhile and isn't afraid of much. I called the second day, a Saturday to talk to the charge nurse about how to address the issue of my mother's medication. I then asked to speak to the DON and she said no one was here that the DON worked Monday thru Friday. I explained to her what happened and she started getting a little concerned. I will be calling Monday to report this issue to the HR department. I am going to make arrangements to have her released due to the first incident. If this is a first impression it is certainly a lasting one.

Everyone we dealt with, nursing and aid staff, physical and occupational therapists, housekeeping and kitchen staff, were all extremely professional and competent. But even more than that, they were also warm, friendly, and caring. Administative staff members were always available any time we had questions or concerns. The nurses and aids ensured that all of our needs, and pretty much all of our wants, were met with smiles on their faces. The facility was beautiful and so well maintained, and the meals and menu was nutritious and tasty. There just are not enough superlatives to adequately describe our experience as a patient and family member. We would give this facility ten stars if we could.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently had to find a place for my uncle to live when he was no longer able to care for himself. I had no idea how to navigate the Medicaid process and my uncle had circumstances that made the process even more difficult. Silvia guided me through the entire process. She was so kind and so knowledgeable!!!! I cannot imagine trying to do this without her!!! Michelle in finance was also very patient and helpful to me in getting my uncle settled in his new home. All the staff have been encouraging and helpful. They notify me of anything going on with him. I am forever grateful for the staff for their assistance!!!

All departments have dedicated, compassionate and respectful staff. From the administrator to the laundry aide, I always felt valued. On August 3rd, the date of my admission I was wheeled into the facility; however, on September 1st I walked out using a walker (for stability). This was due to the excellent rehab department. I can’t thank Sarah (COTA) and Maria (PTA) enough. They made me stretch my boundaries to get me to the point of getting stronger. The nursing staff was fantastic. Thank you thank you thank you to the following nurses: Jennifer, Alex, Bailee, Angelita, David and Lorena. I apologize if I missed any. The aides were so sweet. I have never been called, “love” or “honey” so much in my life. I was not offended. Adrian, Staff Development coordinator is on top of getting everyone trained properly. I observed quality assurance and follow up in his training. Job well done, sir. Joe, transportation aide was friendly and funny. Buy him Whataburger and you’ll have a friend for life. Menchie, Housekeeping Supervisor and her staff do an outstanding job of keeping the facility clean and fresh. I will have to say that I am a picky eater and can be a food snob. With that said, Maria, Dietary Manager does a fantastic job. I choose to eat in my room and the food always arrived at an appropriate temperature. Sometimes I had to take a sip of drink after taking a bite. Not complaining. The food was very flavorful. This is one of the toughest jobs to please everyone. Keep up the great job. Ashley, the lone facility social worker would check to make sure my needs were being met. She listened to my concerns regarding my after care needs to which she put my mind at ease. She is in total control. Rhetha, MDS Coordinator, Jeanie, ADON and Sherena, ADON would also check to see that my healthcare needs were being met. They followed up with any concerns I had which usually was regarding my medication. Last, but not least, the administrator Tammie. The atmosphere surrounding the facility emanates from the top. As I told her, I never give an 5 out of 5. There is always room for improvement. Although 4 to 4.5 is pretty darn close. In conclusion, this was about my personal experience. However, in observation, I noticed how other patients were treated and they seemed to be treated just as well as I was. I highly recommend Amarillo Center for Skilled Care for rehab and long term care placement.

Experiencia fantástica: I was in-patient for 20 days and I was so confused and scared when I got there from NWTH coming off the morphine and everything. As soon as I arrived I was well taken care of by ALL the staff. The staff was always consistent with understanding and kind attitudes- without exception. My family was allowed to stay overnight with me as needed. The therapy and shower assistance was always at my convenience. Thank you Amarillo Center for Skilled Care

She was a very special case in that she was compromised by a series of quite a few debilitating ailments. I would like to thank the entire staff on their dedication to her care.. I know how difficult it is to care for someone who has a terminal illness,I witnessed a lot of LOVE, PATIENCE and UNDERSTANDING as I saw these professionals perform there duties with a gentle kindness that surpasses any understanding. My only regret was that the dietary staff was not fully equipped to give her the nutritional satisfaction,that she needed. Experiencia fantástica: I have been in nursing for 28 years and worked with some of the best in the industry. My aunt became ill and had to spend some time in rehab at ACSC and it was during this time that I observed the remarkable care that she received from the staff at this facility. The nurses and CNA's were always encouraging her to keep pushing forward. The therapy department also worked very hard to get her strength back so she could return home to her husband and back to normalcy. There is not a department within this facility that in my books was not impressive and diligent in their duties. The administrator Tammie went above and beyond to help my dad find placement for my aunt in her hometown so she could be closer to her husband per her requests and Tammie worked ardently with the other facility to make this transition smooth. I would highly recommend this facility if short term rehab or long-term care is needed for loved ones.

They are friendly and made me feel safe and cared for. The Rehab Department is spot on with meeting my needs for a successful recovery after surgery. I would definitely use Amarillo Center for Skilled Care again.

Experiencia positiva: I've been at Amarillo Center for Skilled Care for almost four months now, so I've seen the good and the not so good. The majority of the staff are very kind, caring and friendly. However, due to the post-pandemic attitudes on working, they have a lot of turn-over of CNAs and nurses. This requires them to use "traveling" or "agency" nurses to fill the gaps. Some are great, but most seem to be here just for the money (which is at least twice as much as staff nurses get). A lot of times, ACSC still is very short-handed, which means patient care is less than "5 stars". I did give 4 stars, because the therapy department is fantastic! They create an individual treatment plan for each patient, and therapists are always friendly and funny, yet push us to achieve are goals. One other thing: the menu has a lot of variety, and the food is generally good, but lacks consistency. I couldn't give them 5 stars, but 3 stars seemed unfair, considering that I think most nursing homes in Texas are dealing with many of these same issues thanks to decreased government funding, people unwilling to go back to work, and the fact that frankly, no one really wants to be in a nursing home. So I gave them 4 stars.

Experiencia fantástica: My Mom was a patient and had her Hospice care at this facility. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the staff of Amarillo Center for Skilled Care. My Mom received excellent care by the administration, nurses, techs, and physical therapy staff. She was kindly treated with respect and was able to keep her dignity until the end. Our family sincerely appreciates this facility and would recommend them to anyone needing their services.

Experiencia fantástica: My mother has been a resident at Amarillo Center for Skilled Care for a little over a year and a half now. I had doubts and problems with the staff before, but in December they brought in a new Director or Nursing, who actually responded to me about my concerns for my mother's care. She really sets her focus on the care and happiness of the patients, like the past management did not.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff at Amarillo Center for Skilled Care are very kind and compassionate about their patients. I feel that we made the right choice in my dad's care by placing him here. The staff listens to all my concerns and answers all my questions. They are very helpful and are able to meet all of my dad's needs. The facility is spacious and kept very clean.

A big thank you to the wonderful and caring staff at the center. This is a great place if your loved one needs short term or long term care.

Experiencia negativa: Worst place to go to people I had a neighbor that went there this week they let her fall in shower and didn't care to help till she was on floor then she hit her head and they forced off the floor where they should had called for pros (EMS) she had to and was told by this staff they won't respond I would be embarrassed to own/manage this place how can yall have "care" on the name yall are horrible at this job fastfood staff would be better at this job

Experiencia negativa: Would not recommend at all!!! I admitted my mom for rehab after a stint with a UTI. After being there about 3 days, she was pretty much unconscious & crying out in pain. They did all kinds of test but found nothing. When I asked if they could give her pain meds, they said they had ordered it from their pharmacy which is in Lubbock & they didn't know when it would be there. None of the nurses knew what was going on because they "didn't know her case" because she had someone new each day. She ended up in the hospital for the pain. When she was admitted to the hospital, her body was covered in bruises & she had a horrible "diaper" rash that was infected terribly. My mom was no way a very healthy person but she was not on death's door. No one from this facility called to check to see how she was doing. She ended up septic & passed away.

Experiencia negativa: This facility was amazing when my mom was first placed there. But, it had only been open a couple years. She had the same nurses for so long, they seemed like family. Then suddenly there has been a very large turnover in staff. Don't give your loved one anything of sentimental value to have there with them. If it comes up missing they really don't care. They always say they "will look", but say they aren't allowed to look in other residents rooms. Seems like they could ask permission. They will put up missing signs but that's it. So months later it's still gone and nothing further about it has been mentioned from the staff. I really wonder if the care will start to diminish also.

Experiencia fantástica: Our daughter is a resident of Amarillo Center for Skilled Care. She has done beautifully there and is thriving in the environment with all the activities available, the interaction with others, the crafts which are her favorites as well as bingo, the Sunday devotional, enjoying laughter with her"roomie", and the patio music gatherings. The food is delicious, I'm always getting pictures and descriptions of the meals! The staff are all very caring, its obvious they love their job, and if I have a concern or question it is answered in a timely fashion. I met the Administrator Todd today and even though our daughter is a new resident he knew who she is. He is involved in many of the activities and I see him in several of the Facebook posts. We feel so lucky to have found such a lovely place for our daughter. I have recommended them to several friends needing a caring home for their loved one, in fact, when I have called to speak to a member of the staff about something, the operator, Lottie, always asks "who's your loved one?"❤ Dennis and Mary Reynolds

Experiencia positiva: My mom lived there for 6 years . She loved it there and the staff did a great job and I thank you. The last 7 months due to covid 19 we were not able to go visit her . Although , visits via phone and seeing her through the window was the last memories of our mom. Manuel you had your duties to perform however you always made time to visit with my MOM. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are an asset to that organization . Prior, to the last month of her stay Mom always said “I love it here”. Mom never left the facility nor was I or family able to physically visit her . Mom got Covid 19 and within 7 days of being tested positive she passed away on November 2,2020. She will be missed dearly but this facility will always have a special part of my heart. Thank you for all that was done for my sweet Mama. (Francis Rodriguez)

Experiencia negativa: They do not hardley have anything suger free. The physical therapy team is not on point. When it specifies how many days they are only doing half that, not to mention the time in which they are allotting per patient . The nurses are great there during the daytime but the night time is terrible. My aunt had an iPhone and a set of gel pens stolen from her please lock up your family’s belongings

Experiencia fantástica: I currently have my mother here for rehabilitation now for 10 days. I personally can only say good things because this facility has been a breath of fresh air from past locations she has been in. The thing that really stands out is that when you walk in, it feels like home and Todd Gudgell is an outstanding administrator. I have yet to see a facility where the Administrator/Manager on site makes it a point to get out among the guests at dinner and ask how things are going. I have even witnessed him help clean and serve food. I have never seen any of the management from the other facilities be involved. Even the lady who cuts hair helps if needed. As far as the care from nurses, I cannot say enough good about them. They are all so helpful, and they are very dedicated. I have gotten to know just about all the staff as I am up there every night and at this point I have not witnessed one person who I would question their competency or commitment. The speech therapist is hands on and stays late sitting with my mother while eating to check her progress. The ladies at the business office are working diligently to get your insurance needs met and they do every thing in their power to keep the patient however long it takes to get them to their best before leaving. The Dr's have been great and the Nurse Practitioners are excellent. I really like that they have a nurse practitioner or Dr come onsite and check patients every day. Furthermore, the food is good. The PT's and OT's are fabulous. They know what they are doing and you can tell. They are honest and you can count on them to give you a truthful assessment. The cook really tries to make the meals tasteful and healthy at the same time. I eat there regularly and for $4 that is the cheapest I have experienced. I wish I could name every person that has cared for my mother but I will say I feel like she is safe and the staff really cares. Wherever you go for care, I would recommend getting to know the personnel and spend time at the facility. The more information that the staff knows from you only helps them provide better care. Lastly, thank you Amarillo Center for Skilled Care for the care you have shown so far and I cannot thank you enough.

Experiencia positiva: I've been to ACSC 3 times an always been good...when I tried to return again the doctor there said he didn't want me there again and turned me down. I didn't know the doc owned the place and blocked anyone from entering. I wanted to return to get the great pt but couldn't as the "owner "didn't want me .

Experiencia negativa: Please don’t let all the good reviews fool you, as they make all their staff fill out reviews. We put my mom here to recover after a hospital stay, and this facility is about as poorly run as you will find. It’s hard to know where to start: Unplugged her nurse button by accident and had been punching button for three hours (nobody checked her). Nurses were reporting that they were doing activities to the doctor that they actually did not do (e.g. giving her breathing treatments, moving her in the bed to prevent bedsores, etc). Then they gave her a breathing treatment that was supposed to last 10 minutes and we found her asleep with the mask aparatus still on her face two hours later. They set her oxygen level too high when she came from the hospital (level 4). Then they have all three rehab therapists, PT, OT, and Speech show up at exactly the same time and would finish all three in 20 minutes, vs 30 minutes for each of three therapies. Every single nurse that cared for her smokes. She had a 102 fever and they had turned her AC completely off one day. They pulled out her feeding tube by accident and then replaced it with a catheter tube vs a GI tube. After the 10th issue, we asked to talk to the Director of the facility but he avoided us like the plague. When we discharged, we got zero help to get her loaded into the vehicle, not one person assisted us getting out the door, which was par for the course for the lack of care (and knowledge of nurse care) we received over a three week time frame. My mother has been in over a dozen facilities over the past four years, has never complained, but she commented that this place is leaving me in her to lay in here and die. When we transferred her to a new facility, this facility refused to send over any paperwork or records to the new facility. The two redeeming qualities this facility has is the actual building and rooms are nice and the doctor on staff was actually very competent and empathetic. I hope for the care of your loved ones they don't bury this reviews with more staff reviews. God bless

Experiencia fantástica: I have been associated with Amarillo Center for Skilled Care for almost 4 years now and I can honestly say it is a wonderful place for a loved one to heal and recuperate. The Therapy team is amazing, always professional and they get results! The staff have a "How can we help?" attitude. The facility is beautiful and always clean. I can always recommend whole heartedly Amarillo Center for Skilled Care to anyone needing after care from a hospital stay or needing long term care for a friend or family member. They really do care and work hard for you!!

They have an amazing team with a true passion for their residents. It’s one big family. The facility is beautiful and they have an excellent therapy department, activities program, salon, and more.

Experiencia positiva: My son was transferred to ACSC while he waited for another surgery. The therapist Nicholas and Adam were amazing for him. He experienced excellent progress due to their willingness to work with him his way. He is young and we stayed with him 24/7 due to his needs. We are very happy with our service. I would have given 5 stars if had a wheel chair that fit his size.

Experiencia fantástica: My original review was negative, but I've since spoken with Todd Gudgell, the General Manager, to discuss the problems I had during my stay, and I feel confident those problems will be addressed. I stayed there twice in one year to recover from two open heart surgeries. The rehab team is amazing! Most (but alas, not all) of the nurses are great as well. The CNA’s are wonderful! There is one particular CNA, Maria, who I am fairly convinced is angelic and not human. She's like Ellen! She loves her job and dances in and out of rooms like she was getting paid millions to be there. There is another fine CNA, an older gentleman named Johnny who also told me I could call on him absolutely anytime, night or day, if I had a problem, and he'd help me. I loved that man. He knelt down next to my wheel chair, like he was proposing marriage to me, and told me, “No matter what happens, Old Johnny's your friend.” He may be an angel in disguise too! Some of the older women had problems with him, but frankly I think that's because he's African American, and as much as I hate to say it, racism dies hard in the South. Another CNA kindly bathed me at my sister's request when it wasn't my time to be bathed, and I can't tell you how much I appreciated her kindness and allowing me to impose on her time like that. I deeply regret that I don't remember her name. The food is absolutely the best institutional food one could hope for. Oh! They have a homemade ice cream machine there, that made the best vanilla ice-cream I've ever had! My cardiologist made some changes to my medication within the first week of my arrival there. Unfortunately, these changes slipped through the cracks. No place is perfect. And most of the Nurses tried hard to be sure we got the best possible care. If you are considering having a loved one stay there for their recovery, be aware of the following: The first night, someone will come in the middle of the night and take their blood. If I had a do over, I'd ask to be advised in advance *any* time someone was going to come into my room in the middle of the night. Also, Patients will not even be allowed in the garden unless accompanied by a family member or staff. Also, patients are not allowed to do things like take even an aspirin without a doctor’s orders. No one will check to be sure your loved one medications are correct, so if there is a changed in your loved ones medication, hand the RX slip to The Director of Nursing herself and follow up with your loved one about it. If your loved one has multiple medical problems, he or she will not be allowed to see any outside physician, aside from the one who referred you to the Center. So be sure they see ALL their doctors prior to their surgery. I should add though that there are two doctors on staff for any immediate primary care issues, and a really fabulous Nurse Practioner named Katie, who is beautiful and kind as a summer day is long. Also any electronics (cell phones, tablet computers, etc.) and their charges should be stored in a drawer. They are not theives, but they will throw away things they don't recognize. Having been reassured by Mr. Gudgell, who has made time to talk to me on multiple occasions, I feel confident in recommending the Amarillo Skilled Center for Nursing Care for anyone investigating rehabilitation facilities for a loved one about to undergo a major surgery.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been at this facility as the administrator for 4 1/2 years. This is relatively uncommon in this industry for an administrator to maintain that length of tenure in a skilled facility like ours. I do my absolute best to be available to my residents, family members, and staff not just as an administrator but as a friend as well. It has been an honor to develop relationships with countless families during my time here and look forward to more relationships to come. I have an awesome team with dedicated staff. The love and compassion we all show to our residents is second to none!!! I can’t say enough about the love we have for our residents and their families, that have become part of our ACSC family. The opportunity we have been given to serve our community members has been a blessing to us all.

Experiencia fantástica: My mother spent almost 2 years in this facility from 2013-2015. It was very nice, clean and well taken care of. More importantly, my mom experienced great care from the staff, who loved her as if she was there own family member. I highly recommend ACSC!

The staff are warm and caring and take the time to reach out to family members to let them know how things are going. They staff a beautician and so the residents look wonderful and happy. The therapy team is brilliant, and works hard to restore abilities of the residents and patients to improve their independence. Top notch care.
