Our approach to physical therapy is unique and exceptional with our direct care and one on one patient care model. We additionally appreciate your feedback and concerns. We want to clarify that our billing practices are meticulously crafted in collaboration with attorneys, compliance officers, and business consultants to ensure ethical standards. Regarding TRICARE and dry needling, we follow guidelines diligently. https://www.tricare.mil/CoveredServices/IsItCovered/DryNeedling. Please see the website referenced above, which clearly states from the TRICARE website that dry needling is not a covered intervention as a billable service by TRICARE. The only way we can offer this to TRICARE beneficiaries is by billing this as a cash pay service. This is directly per our compliance attorney who advises our clinic on best practices as well as our billing consultants. We cannot speak to the billing practices of other clinics but assure you we in no way are trying to maximize our profit at the expense of our military personnel or any others for that matter. We would love to be able to have this as a reimbursable treatment code from TRICARE as an outpatient clinic outside of a Military Treatment Facility. Additionally, here is a little insight as to why we charge for dry needling with E-stim. Our clinicians are highly trained and educated in each intervention which maximizes our patient safety and efficacy in treatment. Each clinician who conducts dry needling with E-stim has post doctoral education and certifications in this intervention. These additional certifications for our providers come at an expense along with all the supplies, materials and biohazard fees. The National industry standard being $50.00 or greater per dry needling session per body part in the United States. (Our fees fall below the national average). In addition, We offer payment plans for patients seeking out services so they can receive care. Our goal is to serve our community the best way we know how, while maintaining compliance and safety standards. To address the scheduling conflict: Any patient who cannot be seen within their recommended plan of care is referred to clinics that may see multiple patients at a time per provider and therefore can get them in sooner. Our one on one patient care model doesn’t allow us to double up on seeing multiple patients per provider at the same time. We do our best to get patients their preferred times and even have our clinic open on Saturdays to allow for patients who are unable to attend during the work week. I apologize if this was not communicated to you but you do have the option to seek care at other clinics if we cannot accommodate the days and times you need. We genuinely care for our patient population and enjoy the opportunity to help our veterans and active duty soldiers.
