As a former professional athlete, I have trusted Tom Long and his amazing staff for many, many years to heal my ailments and get me back in the game...both in sports and in life. Fantastic experience: In June 1997, a “distracted“ driver ran a red light and t-boned my vehicle. As a result of the accident, I sustained multiple pelvic breaks, broken ribs, a deep chest wall injury and over two decades of chronic low back and left SI joint pain. Since the accident, I’ve had YEARS of physical therapy and chiropractic treatments, multiple manipulations under anesthesia, nerve blocks, an SI joint injection, medication, pain management doctors and multiple spinal surgeries. I had a doctor tell me the pain was in my head and she sent me home with a prescription for an antidepressant. I began to question if the pain was “real” or if was just “crazy.” Prior to the accident, I had always been physically fit and was an avid runner, hiker and gym rat. I tried to stay active but by 2001, the pain forced me to give up running and switch to lower impact exercises. Over the years, I also gave up yoga, then cycling, then weight lifting and finally hiking in January 2022. Hiking was becoming too dangerous as I was constantly falling and the grinding pain in my low back/SI joint was unbearable at times. In June 2022, I consulted a surgeon who was convinced an SI joint fusion would resolve the last 26 years of chronic pain; however, I needed MORE physical therapy before my insurance company would approve the surgery. At the recommendation of a family member, I scheduled a consultation with Tom at Above and Beyond Physical Therapy. I went for the appointment with very little (if any) hope that my results would be different. Though I didn’t know it at the time, this consultation was the path to getting my life back. Tom was patient and listened to the details of my injuries, the treatments, therapies and surgeries. He observed my movements (walking, sitting, standing, bending, etc). He asked questions. He didn’t send me home with a piece of paper with “at home” exercises. He didn’t push my body past its limits (which has happened with two other PT clinics over the years). For 26 years, I lived with no answers to my chronic pain and within a few sessions, Tom was certain my source of pain was from a FAI and labral tear of my hip. At Tom’s recommendation, I had a consultation with a hip surgeon (the amazing Dr. Tim Bert), who agreed with Tom’s assessment and I was scheduled for surgery. Prior to surgery, Tom met with me to show me how to: sleep, use a walker, get in and out of bed, a chair and a vehicle, put on/take off my pants and socks and get in/out of the shower. He made recommendations for items that would be helpful post surgery (slip on shoes, a handheld shower faucet, an elevated toilet seat, a shower chair, shower handles, etc). He adjusted my walker. He recommended I remove any rugs from my floors, etc. I didn’t realize just how valuable these sessions were until after surgery as I navigated the next 30 days without putting weight on my left leg. It’s been approximately 9 months since the surgery. I have remained fully committed to my recovery and my physical therapy has been my priority. I drive 50 minutes one way for my sessions (even though there are two physical therapy offices less than 5 minutes from my house). Approximately 98% of my chronic low back/si joint pain was resolved with the surgery. In July, I had a 6 month post op appointment with Dr. Bert, who gave me approval to begin a return to running program. Tom provided me with a program, which I have been working on for the last three months. Although I didn’t run for 22 years, I now run 2 miles (without stopping) 3 times per week. I am able to run an 11 minute and 3 second mile. Earlier this month, I did a short hike (total of 200 ft in elevation) for the first time without slipping or falling. My therapy with Tom and the team at Above and Beyond PT has completely changed my life. I am forever grateful for the direction that initial consultation has taken me! For the first time in 26 years, I don’t feel like my body is “broken” and I owe that to Tom’s knowledge and experience.

Fantastic experience: I wish there was an option to give the Above and Beyond crew more than 5 stars. I've had several sports related injuries that I can honestly say would not have healed as well without Tom Long and team taking the time to listen and then prescribe the appropriate exercises. The entire staff work well as a team and their passion for helping people heal really shows. If you put in the work, Above and Beyond will enable you to get great results.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience here! I had been dealing with some neck pain for a few days that was steadily getting worse. I called the office at 3pm out of desperation hoping that someone could fit me in to be seen. Tom was very concerned about the pain I was in and was able to squeeze me into an appointment that evening. I was treated by Megan who also showed great concern over the amount of pain I was in. Megan was caring and thorough in her examination and treatment. I went home feeling better, and by the next morning I was feeling back to normal! I am so impressed by the entire office and how welcomed I felt, and I am so impressed with Megan who is a miracle worker! :) Thanks to everyone! I will definitely return for any future physical therapy needs.

If I could give them 10 stars, I would. my first visit was this past Monday and I have never felt more welcomed in a medical setting. I worked with Megan and Connor, both seem to really care about their patients and enthusiastic about their career. My favorite is always Ted and I learn something new and leave feeling better every time I see him. Meghan and Shelby both know what they are doing and give the most wonderful massages as did their student helper Felix, who was also so nice and friendly and listened to my conspiracy theories without batting an eye. Conner and the rest of the staff made sure I wasn't slacking off, made sure I performed my exercises properly and always nicely reminded me when I forgot the correct procedure. Thank you Shelby and Connor for being the very best. I had hip replacement surgery on May 31st and I’m pain free in that hip. Shelby reassured me that I would be pain free in that hip and she was 100% correct. I have been to other places for Physical Therapy but none compares to Above and Beyond Physical Therapy. It was a 45 minute drive for me but was totally worth it. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed, as they are the very best. Don’t rush you out the door and they spent one hour each time I went for my Therapy! Please give them a try!

My surgical team referred me to two physical therapy centers near me, and did I make the perfect choice selecting Above & Beyond Physical Therapy. Upon my initial consultation with owner Tom Long, that their motto "Where your recovery is our passion" that this was indeed the entire team's goal. Fantastic experience: I could not have Chosen a better place to start my physical therapy after Suffering a severe knee injury. The staff's expertise here are well rounded in many areas not just knees. I have been with them now for 5 months and have seen many different types of injuries, each handled with the highest level of care and Professionalism. "Good bed side manner" is an understated expression because these people make you feel like family(unless for you that's not a good thing, than think of something that makes you feel Comfortable and welcomed, this is that). In all seriousness I don't know if I would be where I'm at now in my recovery if I had went anywhere else, physically and mentally. Hold it together Tom, I'm almost done. Fantastic experience: I've been to other physical therapy places but Above & Beyond has been the best so far. Starting with Marylee & the other ladies upfront who help you feel welcome to Megan, Shelby & the guys assisting in my road to recovery. They all helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Fantastic experience: I had a sports injury and tore muscles in my arm I didn’t know were even there. I was referred to Above and Beyond Therapy by a friend and was impressed. From day one they’ve been incredible. Any other medical appointment I’ve been to I expect to wait a minimum of 20 mins in the waiting room...it’s a given. At Above and Beyond there is no wait, they are ALWAYS on time and greet me with a smile. Their staff is knowledgeable, they show me how to do the various treatments and explain, in detail, why/what they are doing. I’ve been going for about six weeks now and can’t believe that I have full use of my arm at this point. They are miracle workers! Almost done with my time here but I will miss Above and Beyond’s positive, nurturing and overall fun atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: I just went there last week. I had fluid on my knee, 4 inches of swelling after a sports injury. I had tried other things but nothing seemed to work. In just one session with Tom the owner and his staff they were able to get rid of all the fluid. It took about 3-4 days from the time they did the treatment, for it to all to go away. Fantastic staff and very professional. Would recommend them for your PT needs! David

Fantastic experience: Tom, the owner, is great. He's very personable and knowledgeable. He cares about his patients' health and you can tell he genuinely wants to make you better. He explains what is going on with your body, and the treatment he recommends to the level of detail you desire. If you're analytical (like me) he'll explain all the why's and why-nots of your treatment in depth. If you just want the minimum necessary information he'll give you that as well. I highly recommend Above and Beyond. They treat their patients well.
