At Archetype, Dr. Drew created a customized care plan fo me that included not only chiropractic care, but also massage, red light, piezowave, and lymphatic therapies. After only a few appointments with Dr. Drew, I felt considerably better and after 2 months, consistently pain-free!

Experiencia fantástica: There's so much to say I don't know where to begin. I was able to be seen almost immediately after a friend referred me. I was seeing another practice that was making a shoulder/neck situation worse after 5 weeks and I knew I was worried I was headed for surgical intervention the way I had pain. (I had never had shoulder/rotator cuff pain before.) After Dr. Drew saw me the first time, I was at about 85-90% relief immediately. Within 4 visits in the first month, I'm now back to pain free and wish I had found this place years ago. The location is easy to get to from work and home with morning or afternoon appointments available. I have not used other things that are offered here but hope to in the near future. The staff is friendly and easy to work with and I also love that they start off with massage therapy instead of those roller beds and e-stim that everyone else wants to use. Highly recommend this place and you won't regret it if you're in pain!

What’s great about Archetype is Dr John and the staff actually listen to you/your body and provide targeted therapies vs a general crick-crack out the door in 10min. Best of all—I got introduced to Lymphatic massage with Angie due to some unresolved pain from previous injuries. Pain was gone after a few sessions, and now experiencing so many other improvements from the lymphatic work. I would have never thought to try it out if not for the staff listening to me and being knowledgeable enough to fill in the gaps.

I had been a patient at a different practice for 3 years and the pain just persisted. To the point I was considering going to the orthopedic surgeon. I have struggled with pain in my arms for the last 2 years and even had to change what I was doing in my day to day life to lessen the severity. This was my second pregnancy dealing with a debilitating pelvic condition called SPD, and I couldn’t imagine going five more months in the amount of constant pain I was in. Even movements as basic as walking and rolling over in bed hurt. After my first visit, I noticed an incredible difference in how I was able to move. The pain decreased so much right away, and regular visits to Archetype kept me moving—and even able to keep up with working out—until the end of my pregnancy. I’m so thankful for the genuine care I’ve received from everyone there!

Experiencia fantástica: My wife became a patient of Dr. Palmer sometime in 2022, and after experiencing significant results, each of my three kids (ages 21, 18 and 16), as well as my wife’s brother, subsequently became patients. And all of them experienced the same significant improvement in energy level, weight control and general overall health. The weight control piece does not appear to be a direct goal for Dr. Palmer's, but it is certainly a welcoming byproduct. So, after all of these members of my family became patients of Dr. Palmer, and all received similar, very positive results, I decided to give it a try. I was a little reluctant at first, since I really didn’t have anything “wrong” with me - that is, I had maintained fairly consistent mental acuity, energy support and was in good general health, whereas each of my family members had something specific that they were trying to improve, whether it was skin issues, menstruation issues or natural immunity concerns. However, I figured I had nothing to lose, and if I only incrementally improved energy levels and perhaps very slightly lowered my A1c, etc., that it would be worth it. Having just completed my fifth week and Dr. Palmer‘s “Program“, I can report that I have already achieved much greater than “incremental“ improvement in those areas, as well as improvement in many other areas that I did not even recognize were deficient. Needless to say, I am very pleased that I followed the lead of my family and got on board with Dr. Palmer.

Experiencia fantástica: I was on a 8 hour road trip when I tried to bite into a big sandwich and my jaw dislocated and got stuck open. I went to 3 chiropractors in Birmingham and they turned me away due to not having appointments, and I’m glad they did. We got Archetype on the phone told them the emergency and they immediately met us at his office. They were already closed and at home. After a few maneuvers and some therapy he had a very miserably painful dislocation put back in place. Very knowledgeable and sympathetic and aware of my feelings. Very thankful we ended up here being an out of towner and ending up in good hands. Could not recommend this staff any more!

He takes such amazing care of his mama patients. I did not have any of the typical third trimester pregnancy pains or discomforts. I had a quick, unmedicated labor and delivery with no complications. I know Dr. John’s care had a huge impact on my positive experience! He has also helped me through some really difficult postpartum health issues. One in particular was stumping other doctors weeks but Dr. John identified the issue immediately and got me feeling better in a few days. Experiencia fantástica: As a patient with ankylosing spondylitis, I had almost given up hope on getting any relief from my spontaneous flare ups in my back...until I walked into Archetype Health. Dr. John explained the 3-dimensional approach they provide to health: chiropractic health, movement and nutrition. Intrigued, and desperate, I decided to give it a try, and I am so grateful that I did! I am used to feeling "some" pain every day, and now I go days...weeks even.... with zero pain! My sleep has improved; I no longer have the energy dip in the afternoon; I have even been able to reduce the dosage of some medications (under the supervision of both doctors). I actually FEEL GOOD! Experiencia fantástica: Archetype is unique in the chiropractic field due to the high level of individual attention, taking time to inspect and address the pains of the week and remedy using several methods. This is no 2-minute snap-crackle-pop session that’s replicated over as many patients as possible. From muscle therapy and dry needling to a wide range of adjustment techniques, nothing is missed, and I leave the office every single time thinking “wow, that feels amazing!” My weekly Archetype visits keep me running, lifting, and performing at work at higher intensities without getting worn down. I have nothing but good things to say about this phenomenal team.

Experiencia fantástica: In 2016 Dr. John performed not one, but two series of very precise, technical, and intense adjustments. (I could tell you more about that later in a second rating because it’s completely true and documented.) The results were absolutely stunning, and to my knowledge there is no other field of healthcare in the world (known to man) that, to this day yields such profound, immediate, and meaningful results. Five years and some change later, I somehow managed to, essentially, dislocate several discs BETWEEN my shoulder blades. It affected every muscle, rib, and fiber in my torso, and has inflicted me with exhausting pain, every day, for the last two weeks. Nothing I’ve done has brought relief, and for obvious reasons back surgery, medications, or the like were not only ridiculous options for me as an otherwise perfectly healthy man, they should and would be considered completely incompetent and even damaging. He did not have space in his schedule for me, but his colleague Dr. Brandon was able to see me immediately. Day 1 was a complete initial study of my condition. It included a few pages of information, and a series of preparatory adjustments to return overcompensated regions to their original position. Day 2 I rested. Day 3 (today) at 6:45am Dr. Brandon, began again with some preparatory adjustments for about 5-10 minutes. He then performed the primary adjustment called a “distraction”, which literally requires another person in complete synchronicity to perform a very strong, almost elongated, bidirectional pull on my 40-year-old spine to encourage it into correct alignment at precisely the right location. I can only describe the experience as epic. It took my breath away for nearly 10-15 seconds, and it took about 3 minutes of recovery before I could stand, but I probably could have within the minute if I had to and I felt immediately that the tension in my back was gone. By noon it felt completely better, just a little sore. I know every case is probably different, but these type of results are pretty normal, and its so affordable even paying out of pocket. I never leave reviews anywhere, on anything, but because it really does take a measure of trust to let someone literally re-shape your spine, I wanted to attest to the complete and absolute confidence I have personally, in the skill, precision, and excellence with which these folks operate. They also happen to be great people to know in general. I intend for my entire family to learn the wellness principles they are teaching, and will be recommending them to all my friends and family. If I have a headache, I would call them before I took so much as an aspirin. That really is true (unless I just knew it was from dehydration or something), I forgot how almost magical the results are when compared with any other discipline.

Experiencia fantástica: This is such a great chiropractic office! The staff is beyond friendly, and it is so easy to reschedule or call in late. They are the absolute best. The staff deserve 5 stars alone. Dr. John is wonderful though. As nervous as I was during my first visit, Dr. John walked me through every adjustment he makes and continues to do so every time. He always does his best to address any issues in every appointment before you leave, even if that means re-adjusting or adjusting in other places. The initial "physical" was so thorough. I came in for a headache, but they addressed issues I had that I did not consider significant but was slightly aware of. I truly appreciated that. After very short months, my migraines are relatively non-existent. I've been to numerous physicians for help, but nothing truly helped until I came here. In addition, Dr. John helped me come up with some exercises that are safe for my body and effective to obtain my health goals. I highly recommend Dr. John and this practice to anyone.

I have been gearing up to be on a wildland firefighting hotshot crew which has a huge physical demand and preseason training is extremely intense and important. The crew I will be on is based out of 7000 feet, I am very confident that my training done at Archetype has prepared me for the altitude that I’m about to move to and start working at. I’ve also made some great friends through the class! I’m very thankful for Archetype and think it’s an amazing resource to have in Birmingham.

He’s not just a great chiropractor. He’s a bit of a life coach — always open to talking about exercise, stretches and technique, and of course nutrition. Go see him and know that you’ll be treated as more than a patient. He’ll get to know you and tailor your treatment to address your needs. That sounds simple, but most of us have had the health care experience of feeling like just a number or just another case. Dr. Callahan is different — he listens.

Experiencia fantástica: Coming to Friends & Family is my favorite form of self-care! Dr. Ray & Dr. John quickly diagnosed a misalignment that summed up the pain I was feeling: numbness in my far right fingers that traveled up my arm, around my elbow, around my shoulder, shoulder blade, and up my neck on the right side. They showed my x-rays to me on a huge screen, and explained what the previous 3 chiropractors couldn’t. I practically fall asleep mid-adjustment, every time... it’s that thorough. My treatment consists of focused muscle work/massage on my most problematic areas followed by a head-to-toe (literally every toe) adjustment. I can’t say enough! Do yourself a favor and come here :)

The service and treatments I have received are nothing short of phenomenal. Dr. John and his team always go above and beyond to help me to feel my best. A prime example of their excellent care was during second semester of my Freshman year in college. Being from Florida, I was struggling a bit being away from my family and the winter weather that I was not used to. If it wasn’t for my twice-weekly adjustments and the amazing care and support I received from Dr. John and his team, I probably would not still be at Samford today as a Junior. Today, after two and one-half years under the care of Dr. John and his team, I can honestly say it has been one of the best decisions and investments I have ever made. Experiencia fantástica: After months of discomfort that eventually led to severe pain, an orthopedic nurse practitioner recommended Dr. Ray at Homewood Friends and Family. I am so thankful that he did. I walked into the office unable to sleep, unable to sit for longer than 10 minutes, and unable to exercise. Within 3 visits I was comfortable again due to the comprehensive plan specific to my body with muscle work and adjustments. I had been experiencing increased pain over about 6 months in my neck and shoulders, but I just thought it was stress and tension. I've always had headaches, but those had gotten worse over time as well. For the last couple of years, I had mild to moderate depression occasionally; however, that issue had increased too. I had no idea that all of that was connected, making excuses for each symptom and dismissing most, until one of my doctors noticed that I was moving my neck strangely. At 6 mos pregnant I woke up with an incredibly painful and stiff neck... since you cannot take NSAIDs while pregnant, I reluctantly decided to try a chiropractor visit.
